Had a Christmas lunch with coworkers today at Pappasito's. The restaurant was a lot bigger that I was expecting and had a homey entrance.
I had made reservations for 10 people. Two of my coworkers had already arrived, so when I and another friend entered, I let the hostess (zero smile) know we had arrived, and she promptly told me that she cannot seat us until at least 6 people in the party were present. What?? We had to stand at the entrance, where the blustery cold air blew in whenever the door opened. My coworker didn't hear her say that to me, so a few minutes later, she asked a different hostess (again, no smiles offered) if we could be seated. This one said that 7-8 members of the party needed to be present to be seated. Beyond idiotic.
Not sure what happened, but once a total of 5 were at the restaurant, we were seated. A friend said she heard the hostesses (described as 3 young Hispanic girls) complain about us. If you don't want to work, then quit your jobs! I sadly drove by a few homeless people on the way to the place-- they should be thankful that isn't them!
Our waiter, a young Caucasian guy, was a little quiet at first but was joking with us by the end of our meals, thankfully. He was attentive and kept our drink glasses full.
Our food was good but not worth the high prices. $32 for shrimp fajitas, which consisted of about 10 medium shrimp and onions, and lukewarm veggies. I don't eat meat, so when I asked him about the rice and beans, he said the rice was vegetarian but all of the beans contain pork. He didn't bring any rice to me, but that's ok. A coworker l, arriving late, follows a halal diet. For some odd reason while I was away from the table, her shrimp fajita meal was delivered. I noticed the rice and beans, so I let her know quickly that the waiter stated that all beans contain pork. She was shocked because he had told her they were vegetarian. Totally confused! She didn't take the chance in the inconsistent information, just as wouldn't, either.
Will I return? Nah. There are way too many other options in the area. Plus, I wouldn't be able to tolerate the snotty hostesses again. Management really needs to retrain these girls with attitudes- it reflects poorly on the restaurant.
