Chicago Restaurants Roast Third-Party Delivery Apps at City Meeting | Eater Chicago

"Run by Beverly Kim and Johnny Clark and known for its Michelin recognition and Korean-American perspective, this neighborhood restaurant has been frustrated by third-party platforms posting unauthorized landing pages that present the menu and imply the restaurant accepts orders. In one February incident a platform courier arrived at the door with a credit card for an order even though the restaurant didn’t offer carryout; when the owner called to ask about the missing food, the platform blamed the restaurant and cited a system outage. Restaurant leaders and the industry association called the practice “hijacking,” and owners say getting listings removed requires navigating red tape and can take time despite platforms’ assurances to remove pages upon request. Reservations accepted 30 days in advance." - Ashok Selvam
