15 Worthwhile Places to Eat and Drink in Walnut Creek

"Parada is the Walnut Creek location of chef Carlos Altamirano’s group of Peruvian restaurants, including San Francisco’s Mochica and La Costanera in Half Moon Bay; but it’s still worth a mention as a casual dinner option in Walnut Creek. Try the cebiche mixto, an order of the yucca fries, or the pulpito a la parilla if you’re in the mood for octopus off the smaller bites menu, before branching out into the lomo saltado, adobo, or paella." - Dianne de Guzman

Google
Chill place for a late lunch with my sweetie on her birthday! Even though it was between typical lunch and dinner hours, we had a very tasty meal and my wife even got a free dessert for her special day! I tried I've of their Specialty drinks The Police Officer... very unique, refreshing cocktail! Highly recommend this place if you like Peruvian food, and even my choosy Peruvian wife approves! 😎😋🍽🥘🥃🍸🍻

Google
I’ve been here twice, friendly service. The food was great. This time we ordered the Pisco sour, mixto cebiche, and arroz mixto seafood and wild mushroom empanadas which were amazing! I would say it is a little pricey.

Google
The food was amazing. I have visited other Peruvian restaurants and Parada is by far on the top of the list. My wife found the place in Google and we took our in-laws for a nice treat on Saturday. Our favorite main dish is Saltadito steak, the plantains is a must and the empanadas (meat, corn, cheese or mushrooms) are a must. You can’t go wrong with either flavor. The service was excellent. Martina was our server and I learn more about the Saltadito in a couple of minutes that all the other experiences in other restaurants combine. Family friendly environment and a convenient location with plenty of parking.

Google
Food was good, they have a Peruvian and non Peruvian fusion I guess. My lomo saltado was pretty good, however we ordered pollo a la brasa and we could tell it was reheated and not fresh. Pisco sour was very good, chilcano could be better but was good too. I think the drinks were the best overall. The ají Amarillo sauce was very watery and you could taste more the cheese than the yellow chili flavor, however the rocoto aioli was very good. The server was nice but he was not from Peru and didn’t have enough knowledge about Peruvian food/ingredients. People that are selling food should know about ingredientes and preparations. Overall we liked it, but some things need to be improved for sure.

I happened to be at Walnut Creek after a long and tiring journey. For dinner I was looking for a restaurant close to the hotel. It was quite a cold day considering it's June. I found Parada and took a seat without much thought and ordered the first item from the menu, Hangover Soup. Sometimes it just happens that you find the perfect food. It was warm, tangy, fresh chicken soup that warmed my heart. Please try.

Google
Bold flavors without punching your palate. Great mix of entrees plated for visual impact. Small yet calm room with a great patio. Chairs remind me of a 1960's public school classroom... functional yet not comfortable. Must try place.

Google
Had dinner with my wife last night; we sat on the outdoor patio with live Cumbia music playing. Everything was very enjoyable, from the food to our friendly waiter Andres. We enjoyed conversing with him not only about our order but just Latin American culture in general and we had some good laughs. The food was very tasty and the cocktails were even better. Will definitely be back soon!

Carmen Gonzalez Castañeda

Google
Fantastic food and great atmosphere. My group thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. The empanada platter is a must but everything on the menu we tried was amazing. The cocktails were also delicious, 'mixed feelings' was the name of our favorite drink.

Yelp
Parada was just down the street from our hotel. The restaurant has a cute vibe with both indoor and outdoor seating available. We found easy street parking nearby, which was a nice bonus. I was super excited to see Pescado a lo Macho on their menu. Pescado a lo Macho is my all time favorite dish! It did not disappoint. Everything was perfectly cooked and the sauce was so flavorful. What really stood out was a side of rice. It had coconut flakes on top which added a nice texture and subtle sweetness. My fiancé ordered the Lomo Saltado, and he absolutely loved it. It's always great when both meals at the table are hits! The service was great. Staff checked in on us multiple times which made us feel cared for. That personal touch made the experience even more memorable. I would definitely come back next time we are in town . Highly recommend for anyone craving a Peruvian dish!

Yelp
We here on a Saturday to celebrate my mom's birthday. Food was 5-stars! Had the Lomo Saltado, Emplanada platter, beet salad, sweet potato fries, seafood paella and grilled octopus. All were cooked to perfection. Service was 2 stars! We noted on our reservation that it was for a birthday, but there was ZERO acknowledgment of that. We had to flag down waiters many times to refill our drinks. And to add insult to injury, when it came time to close the bill, the lowest tip amount defaulted to 20%.... My personal rule-of-thumb is 15% at the start and the tip amount will go up or down, depending on how the meal goes. Ambiance was nice, though a little loud for my taste. It was hard for the 4 of us to chat.

Yelp
What a fantastic place to enjoy dinner, drinks, and laughter with the wonderful people who make Parada such a special spot. The food was absolutely incredible--every single dish we tried was a delight! We were especially lucky to experience a unique twist on Lomo Saltado, swapping steak for salmon. And... wow. My life is forever changed! The flavors paired so naturally, it felt like they were meant to be together. As a pescatarian, it can sometimes be tricky to find traditional dishes that incorporate fish, so this was an extra special treat. Our waitress was phenomenal, making sure we were well taken care of throughout the night. We even stopped by the kitchen to personally thank the chefs for such an unforgettable meal. I truly hope they add the salmon saltado to the menu someday--it's beyond words and something I would love to enjoy again. Huge thanks to Parada for an amazing experience!

Yelp
Remember it's "Peruvian-inspired"....not authentic Peruvian. The Salmon Bandido looked good. Service was personable.

Yelp
NOTE: This is attached to the Avalon apartment complex. Parking may be difficult to find. I've been a few times with family to Parada. Can't speak to its authenticity, but as a newbie to Peruvian food, it's delicious ^_^ Their appetizers are amazing. Service is always exceedingly attentive and courteous. I don't think I've ever sat without water or clean dishes/cutlery for more than 5 mins. Some favorites: - ELOTE DE LA CALLE (TBF I love corn everything, so of course love their herbed butter, on-cob version) - EMPANADA PLATTER (corn cheese FTW) - Any cebiche dish (perfectly sour and savory) The only issue I have is that their chicken is always dry. SO DRY. I've had several chicken dishes and run into the same issue. I'm not sure if it's a cultural thing or the chef's preference, but it's not my favorite texture.

Nalani S.

Yelp
Food and drinks were decent. When we got sat the waitress asked if we wanted water. She only gave us two options: sparkling or still. We chose still thinking it would be free. We later found out it was $10 a bottle. When we brought this up to her she stated that the menu showed that tap water was only by request. We ended up paying $60 for water. It felt scammy and calculated. The menu states this but it white print that it difficult to read and only states that "water is served upon request". It did not specify that it was tap water. Very sketchy of them and she made no attempt in rectifying the situation or even apologize. Disappointing. Don't fall for their water scam.

Yelp
Love coming here with mama friends on ballet days (tutu school across the street) with our kids to get their rotisserie chicken, or kids mac and cheese. My favorite is the empanada sampler platter. Be mindful that it's an additional charge for extra salsa or sauces - we only found out afterwards when we received the bill (and after we ordered a bunch for the table and all the guests dining with us). Wish they communicated that with us when ordering. Other than that, yummy food for both adults and kids, and convenient location!

Yelp
On another random dining hunt we came across Parada. Nicely appointed restaurant with lots of seating, some on an outdoor covered patio. We chose to dine inside. The music was a bit loud and Latin EDM seemed to be the house choice. The food... Was amazing!! We sincerely enjoyed the Adobo and the Paella dishes, both were really wonderful. I also strongly recommend the dessert sampler because you get a taste of several delicious sweets. The service was friendly, quick and efficient but it was also a quiet late lunch for us so YMMV. Still loved this place and would recommend it to anyone looking for a unique dining experience.

Yelp
This is a cool spot in Walnut Creek. I was in the area for a meeting and walked over here for dinner with some friends. First off, there was live Latin music which was great. The food was consistently good. I would recommend the ceviche, elote, plantains and the aji de gallina. Service was attentive and speedy.

Nat S.

Yelp
Had to find a new Peruvian spot after Lima closed down and Parada did not disappoint! Clean and modern interior, we sat outside and it was very nice. Service was very friendly and quick. Drinks were great as was the food. Ceviche was fresh and some of the best I've had - will definitely be back!

Yelp
Let me start by saying the service was exceptional and the team was very attentive. Multiple plate changes and my water glass was never empty. Kudos to the wait staff. Sadly, the food let me down in taste, texture and flavor. We tried all the recommended items and out of the 14 items ordered only a few stuck out as memorable and something I would order again. The items I would definitely order again: Cebiche Tuna, avoid the sampler and just get the tuna. Also order the house made chips, not sure what else you would eat the ceviche with?!? Just don't forget the chips. 8/10 Fried Sweet Plantain, exceptional and a great flavor and cooked perfectly. 7/10 Empanada Corn Trio, fluffy and flaky empanadas that highlight the flavor of the corn. 8/10 Tequenos were unique and the cheese with the crispy shell were very tasty and a table favorite. 9/10 The rest of the items I would not order again. The Pulpo a La Parilla was like eating a family of baby octopus heads and all. We love Pulpo but this style was not to our liking. 3/10 Lomo Saltado was decent but felt like something I would make at home. 4/10 Desserts were a big miss, in the past we loved the churros, they had great flavor and the chocolate sauce was reminiscent of Spain. Sadly not a single chocolate dessert in the menu. I loved this place when it opened, maybe I was just feeling nostalgic but this place was better left in my memories. Maybe I'll try it again in a few years.

Yelp
We took a break from hosting the family holiday dinner and celebrated at Parada restaurant! Nicely decorated and brightly lit space, giving a warm and lively atmosphere. However, we did notice the walls did not absorb any noise, so it echoed and amplified any noise from the kitchen and dining area. It can get pretty loud. The waiter was friendly and welcoming. But we found it odd that he wrote down the orders and appetizers for 1/3 of the table and took our menus away even though we only ordered our appetizers. Amazingly, our food was served without big gaps between dishes. There were more than a dozen of us, so I was only able to take pictures of the dishes closest to me and the items I personally ordered. Appetizers: Tuna tartar: Delightful dish! We enjoyed the tuna and the house-made yuca chips. The chips were thin and crispy. Great for scooping up tuna! The wine soaked pears complemented the tuna tartar nicely. 5/5 Cebiche Mixto: An assortment of seafood. A tasty, tangy dish! 4/5 Pescado a la Plancha (grilled fish of the day which was swordfish): It was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. Just a tad small in portion. Appetizers are a must to complete a meal unless you're not too hungry. 4/5 Sangria: The fruit and wine had a good balance. It wasn't overly sweet. It tasted like it should. Perfect! 5/5 Lomo Saltado: a few ordered this and it's a favorite that they always order this when they're here. I tried a piece of their meat and it was juicy and flavorful! I understand why they enjoy this dish so much! 5/5 Seco de Cordero: lamb shank with cilantro sauce. The meat was flavorful, tender, and almost off the bone. But the shank itself was quite small. My bf was expecting a bigger bone. 4/5 Unfortunately, like most restaurants these days, portions have become smaller. However, we appreciated the interesting and unique pairings on each plate. Everything was colorful and visually appealing to delight the senses of our palate and eyes. We had a great Christmas meal here!

Yelp
My first time here and it did not disappoint. Kevin and Diego were both kind and professional. Outstanding service. The food was amazing. We enjoyed the Basa. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Nice music friendly staff a great vibe. Loved the the wooden tables. My food was hot and delicious. Oh my goodness, I am definitely going back in future and try other dishes. The Seafood Paella was feeling and full of flavor. Like the best , my friend loved it also. The Pisco punch was delish. My friend had the half chicken, with fries and salad. He loved it. Go check them out.

Yelp
Absolutely Stellar Experience! If you're looking for the perfect spot on a Thursday or Friday night, look no further! This place, and especially this amazing bartender Juan, will make your evening unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, he was attentive and genuinely invested in our experience. His recommendations for drinks, dinner, and dessert were spot on--each one better than the last! I can't say enough good things about this authentic Peruvian gem in the heart of Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill. Incredible food, wonderful people, and fantastic vibes make this a must-visit. Don't miss out!

Yelp
Hello, my name is Jesus Angelo Robert de Alba II - me and my wife Julie Torres fully recommend - whether you are in Walnut creek or just passing, to stop and have your taste buds sent on a journey at Parada. First off - shout out to my server Catherine, she gave me a card to remind me of her name, god knows I always forget after I leave somewhere. She let me and my wife take over a four top because every time we go we order a lot of food. Secondly - Parada, over my wife and I's 5 year relationship and 1 and a half years of marriage - has been our absolute favorite restaurant. Every time we go its a special occasion and we relish every second of it. From their fluffy golden yuca fries, to their delicious seafood delights, this place has eveything for us, a warm welcoming team that strives for quick and friendly service - to a clean warm place to let go of the day and lose yourself in peruvian quisine, my wife and I love this place, its alive with the music and culture youd hope to get. The prices are a little steep and for every good reason, I have never not enjoyed a dish at Parada, and I've never sent back an order. The Chursasco is my absolute favorite, the steak is Huge and cooked to perfection every time! Get a pitcher of their house sangria for the table and you guaranteed will have a great time - my wife is a huge fan of their hangover soup and their delicious low dairy galletas (cookies). Their cocktails and selection of spirits is wonderful and we always love to get a warm Mezcal with our feast. Their ever changing menu keeps us guessing and they seem to always know which classics to keep on it. If you want authenitc, delicious and decadant delights in the style of peru, come here We'll be returning every time we want a warm, wonderful night filled with laughter, great food, great drinks and the feeling of being home. - Jesus and Julie (Paradas biggest fans)

Yelp
This is a great restaurant and excellent customer service! The food was high quality and Diana R. was very knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. I will definitely go back !

Yelp
Drinks ordered: cucumber sour & Cuban lover - both were very refreshing and strong Food: - Cebiche Chino - Peruano: super fresh and I loved that it had a small wheel of sweet potato and other textual components likes hominy and peanuts. It added wonderful texture to the flavor. - empanada trip: cheese and corn, chicken and beef. The dough was buttery and flakey. Very fluffy with great fillings in all three - scallops carlito: I would skip this in my opinion. While it was very delicious, it was rather expensive for 4 scallops and no real carb or veggie to complement it. I would've paid the price if it had more to it than just a few pieces of hominy. - tequenos / and / fried plantains: I'm reviewing these together because both had very similar tastes and components. While I loved both, I would pick one or the other for my next visit. We sat outside when it was cold and raining, but it was well covered and they had heat lamps. I didn't even need a jacket. Our server was knowledgeable with the menu and revisited our table frequently to check on us.

Yelp
LOVED this place, just wish it was a little bit more affordable and the seating was spaced apart more. We got 3 different types of empanadas and they were all super yummy, don't sleep on the mushroom one it was AMAZING! We ordered a seafood stew, the pork adobo, fries, and 2 cocktails and everything was very good! We don't usually have Peruvian food though so I can't speak to its authenticity but it sure was delicious! My favorite had to be the seafood stew, there was an abundance of seafood and the sauce is just to die for! Definitely a great date night spot! The only reason this is getting a 4 is because our seat was pretty cramped and we there were ppls chair backs pressed right into our table.

Yelp
Wow! Amazing! Nestled in Walnut Creek is an amazing Peruvian restaurant offering authentic cuisine. I can't emphasize how good it is except for the fact that I came here two days in a row for lunch. It's not cheap. It's definitely on the expensive side but the quality of the food is worth it. I ordered the lamb shank. I didn't know it was even a Peruvian dish . I was a bit hesitant at first. Will it smell? It was absolutely amazing. The best lamb I have ever eaten. I gnawed the bone at the end, making sure that nothing would be wasted. Wow! The next day, I ordered the Peruvian drink. It tasted like hibiscus . I also ordered their signature dish, Loma saltado. Wow! Delicious!!!! For Thinsulin fans, there's a lot of red light foods here but it's worth it!

Yelp
We made an easy reservation online for a Saturday night. We've passed by this place and wanted to try it for our 1 year anniversary. Outside seating and indoor. Pretty table set up and murals on the wall. Our server was very kind and attentive. We ordered drinks, an appetizer, and our main dishes. We had no complaints about anything. We loved it. We'll be back.
google avatar

Yelp
We walked in and BAM! Happy scene, fun atmosphere, lively people actually holding conversations, and a ig TV behind the bar that nobody was watching because they were having fun without it and without looking at their phones every 30 seconds. Drinks were perfect, a they have a whole menu listing their specialities. The tuna tartare was full of flavor and melted in my mouth. I've never been to Peru, but if this is how Peruvians eat, book a trip! Maybe the best part of the place is the staff. All of them were busy, but nobody was in a hurry. Our bartender Juan was the best: Happy, handsome, engaging, and capable of handling all of his staff orders and bar orders while being a perfect host and never keeping us waiting for anything. Go. Take it in. Make acquaintances. Eat well. I think you'll be happy you did.
google avatar

Farhana M.

Yelp
Cute inside. Servers are very nice and quick. I ordered the yucca fritas to go and these came with a sauce and cheese on the side. I think this order came with 6 or 7 fries for $13, which I appreciated because usually places give 4 yucca fries per order.

Mustafa N.

Yelp
Parking was horrible and there was no help or accommodation from the staff. Before we were even seated, we waited way too long while multiple tables sat empty. The staff completely ignored us -- servers were literally sitting and eating while we stood there for about 10 minutes with no acknowledgment. Once seated, things didn't get any better. The ceviche was honestly terrible -- not fresh, lacked flavor, and just disappointing. Everything else was extremely overpriced for small portions and average quality. Definitely not worth the money. The servers were rude and seemed like they didn't want to be there, let alone serve anyone. Overall, the experience was frustrating from the moment we arrived. Save your money and drive a few minutes further to a place that actually values its customers and serves decent food.

Yelp
Ordered for delivery, and talked up the papa a la huancaina to my friend, got two orders because it's too good to share. Papas arrived with *no sauce,* BOTH orders. So all we got for $16 apiece were plain boiled potatoes w/ bacon bits on the side. Why would Parada do us like that??? As delivery clients, of course you have zero control over what you get and can only report it to Doordash, which I did, and got an $8 credit for the missing sauce, so in the end we paid $24 for two dishes we didn't even eat because the sauce really does make the dish in this case. We didn't receive our $12 order of grilled asparagus, either, and I didn't even report it to Doordash because we were so broken up about the papas that I didn't think of it! Won't be ordering from Parada again for delivery...

Yelp
We had such a great experience here! We wanted to try some place new for our anniversary and Parada caught our eye. We had a 6:30pm reservation but arrived early and were seated promptly. The restaurant is very homely and has beautiful artwork throughout. Our server and the rest of the staff were very friendly and kind. We were always checked on, drinks and water always refilled. 5 stars just because everyone is so nice! The food was phenomenal! Bold flavors and large portions. It actually ended up being too much food for us! We ordered the cebiche tasting which had 3 different types of cebiche and all were fantastic and full of flavor. We especially enjoyed the tuna one. For main, my husband ordered the Churrasco and I ordered the Seco de Cordero. Both were great and tasty. Husband said he would probably order something else next time because he didn't realize how big the steak would be. We received complimentary dessert for our anniversary, but honestly wish we had saved room for dessert because I was really looking forward to trying the panna cotta. Next time we come here we'll order the bocaditos instead since they're smaller portions and we can try out a few different things. Overall a fantastic dinner and looking forward to visiting again!

Yelp
Save yourself the money, disappointment, and frustration from this place. The place was completely empty when we went for lunch. I am not surprised. This place is no longer what it used to be. I used to come here often, and I decided to give this place a another chance after the horrible experience a few months ago. Coming back was a mistake. The quality of service and food was even worst. They significantly increased the price, decreased the portion, and changed their menu to cheaper ingredients. The waiter got our order wrong. We decided to be nice and informed them that the order was wrong and that we will still pay for the wrong meal. We offered this out of kindness instead of asking them to take it back and be wasteful. We proceeded to order our correct entrees. They changed the entrees to cheaper/lesser ingredients, and the food tasted bland or bad. They removed main ingredients to the dish and increased the price. The Adobo no longer have potatoes and has half the meat portion. The lomo saltado no longer has a fried egg and was very salty. For such an expensive restaurant, you would think the service and food matches the price.

Yelp
Great service! Great location! Great drinks! Very simple restaurant layout, small and intimate. Food- we ordered ALOT! I ordered: Roasted Farm Beet Salad Lime Vinaigrette, onions, choclo, cancha, mint, cilantro, potatoes, feta cheese Costillas Pork spareribs with Gochuang-Inca BBQ sauce, salsa fusion, Peruvian coleslaw Both are pretty good. I recommend you order all the the apps with friends if you can't commit to a main dish!

Yelp
Top-notch experience! Our server, Andres, was excelente. Great recommendations. Loved everything. Drinks were la bombq. Pisco sour and the lime chilcano were excelente! Food was fantástico. We had the lomo saltado and the paella, and also the ceviche for an appetizer. Great ambience. Todo súper bien. Muchísimas gracias!!

Yelp
Very nice spot in Walnut Creek for something a little more upscale. I would say definitely the best part of this place is the ambiance and the service. The food is also good. It's Peruvian food, which I've never had before, but I'm quite a fan now! I came here for an anniversary and made the mistake of ordering almost everything fried (it wasn't clear from the menu) but, it was all still super good. The empanadas especially were some of the best I've ever had. It's definitely a little pricey but I'd say it's worth it and good to try! I also really liked trying the Inca Kola Peruvian soda!

Yelp
Our two main entrees were the Salmon Bandido and the Pollo a la Brasa. My salmon was delicious, but was a very small portion for the price ($30). The accompanying Blue Mashed Potatoes were tasteless and the Escabeche is basically an overwhelmingly garlicky onion/tomato stew. My wife's chicken was dry and the sauce had no character at all. We were able to substitute the sweet potato fries for the regular french fries, which were good. We got the Tacu Tacu. Meh. We've had better. Our server was great. She was very attentive and helpful. We went on a Tuesday night and there were two work parties going in the adjoining room. Our server warned us that our orders would take an extra 20 minutes because of the two on-going parties. The ambiance was so loud that my wife and I were having a hard time hearing one another. Parking near the restaurant is almost impossible. Expect a long walk to get to the restaurant. The great service did not make up for the loud environment, the over-priced & small-portioned entrees and the lack of parking. We spent over $100 for two people and did not order drinks.

Yelp
We had some friends in town and thought this would be a nice place to go. We made a reservation for 4 online via OpenTable. There weren't any indoor seats available online but when we got there, they gave us an indoor table. All the outdoor tables were taken, probably because they had a live musician that night. The indoor ambiance was beautiful. The decor was full of personality but subtle. There was a little bar and a part of the kitchen was open. We ordered the Salmon Entree and the seafood paella (not called paella on the menu). Both were good and portions were large. My husband finished his salmon dish and I got through about half of the paella. He had some of it and we took the rest home. I felt like my paella was missing something but I couldn't put my finger on it. For dessert we had the panna cotta which was very tasty. Overall, I thought the food was good and the ambiance was lovely. It was a little on the expensive side but worth it for a nice night out. Deadpool was playing on the tv above the bar which was pretty distracting for me (ADHD) but otherwise it was a great night with great food. Parking: There are two parking garages under the attached apartment buildings that are public use. The limit is 2 hours. There is also street parking with a 2 hour limit as well.

Yelp
Had a wonderful date with my girlfriend here again! This is one of our favorite spots, and we've been coming every couple of months for a while now, and last night Parada pulled through for us again. Our server was a delight, and absolutely attentive to all of our needs. The Seco de Cordero is still my favorite item on the menu and it continues to blow me away. I don't know how they get it to be so tender, but I wouldn't change a thing about it. My girlfriend, though rather sad that the mini púlpitos weren't on the menu anymore (those were her favorite) still really enjoyed her ají de gallina. All in all though, we had another great time here and look forward to when we stop by the next time. Just bring back the mini pulpos please and we'll be set!

Yelp
Fantastic passionfruit pisco sour! I could have knocked back a few, it was so tasty! I ordered the lomo saltado and it was tender and flavorful. Would def recommend this! I also had a bite of the salmon, which was cooked perfectly and also very good. We couldn't get enough of the roasted corn nut like things. Huge props to our server (I didn't catch his name since I arrived late!), who handled our rambunctious party. Boy, did he have patience!!! Definitely earned the 20% auto gratuity and then some. Loved the music in the outdoor patio seating area. There's a parking structure in the back, thankfully since street parking is almost non existent here.

Yelp
Food was pretty tasty! 4/5 Price for portions 2/5 Service -1/5 Came here on a Monday afternoon with my bestie to try this for lunch. We walked in and no one greeted us for 5 mins. Not a server walking right by us, or the bartender directly in our view who we made eye contact with. We finally get seated by the hostess? Or she was a server? And 10+ mins go by before we are checked on and given water. At this point, we almost wanted to leave but we wanted to see what all the hype was about. That said we decided to just order one entree between the two of us to try the place and then leave. We got the lomo stir fried beef and it was pretty good!! Very juicy, flavorful, and tender. It was enough for us to split for a lil light lunch/snack. More time passes by before we are checked on. I ran out of water so that tells you we wede really just left unattended. The check came and just for that one entree it was like $34 I have nothing against buying a nice meal, but I can get that same dish with that same quality elsewhere for a fraction of the price. The ambiance, presentation, or service warrants being "high end" Peruvian to charge that much. It was yummy, but I won't ever come back.

Yelp
this place deserves a higher review. we have lived nearby for a year and finally went. the food was amazing. the dough for the empanadas was crispy but also doughy. The Korean ribs were amazing. i thought the food was better than límon's. Their drinks were also incredible. and service very good. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Had a late date night dinner with my better half. Parada is a cozy corner Peruvian restaurant located near Pleasant Hill BART station. We ordered the Empanada Trio, the Lomo Saltado, Pollo a la Brasa and the Alfajores Carlitos for dessert. There are 4 empanada flavors to choose from and we went with the beef, chicken and wild mushroom, passed on the corn cheese flavor. The chicken empanada had tender shredded chicken in it and was by far the best of the 3. The wild mushroom was good but not particularly memorable-- the beef was overly sweetened ground beef, the crust could've been crispier as the pastry was a little under done and soft down the middle. The Lomo Saltado and Pollo a la Brasa were both decent dishes although there was very little beef in the Lomo Saltado and the chicken was under seasoned in the Pollo a la Brasa, I was expecting more flavor for Peruvian food. However, the fries that came with the pollo were well seasoned and crispy. The Alfajores Carlitos were delicious. Overall, the food was fine but if I were comparing it to Lima in Concord, I prefer the flavors of Lima. I think the location, ambience and presentation play a big role in the popularity of Parada more than the actual food; as the restaurant has a warm lively vibe and the service is excellent. Our server, Amanda, was absolutely wonderful.

Yelp
Can't recommend this place enough. Pricey for sure but absolutely delicious food and very attentive service. 3 of us went everything we ordered was good. Drinks and dinners were small, yet it was so good I still think it is worth checking out!

Yelp
Great service, delicious food and drinks, and easy parking on Sunne. The price point is a little hefty. But, if it's the weekend or you're looking to splurge, try this place out. Inside seating is spacious. The restaurant also has outdoor seating.

Yelp
This is dangerous because I live across the street and been here 4 times already in one week. Ceviche mixto is my favorite. And Diana has great fast and friendly service

Yelp
I was attracted to the vibe. I was on my way somewhere else and the live music got be doing a little shimmy in the street so I had to go back. The groove as still going when I returned and complemented the attentive staff and extensive menu. I didn't embarrass myself by trying to read the name of the dish below but it was very well done. Who knew quinoa on shrimp would make it pop like that!!?? The sweet potato blend underneath was delicious but left me wanting for more. Like my date, the drinks were complex and well blended. The Cuban lover is highly recommended and had me rocking with the music. Although pricey, it's a well deserved treat night.

Yelp
I guess when you can book a table for Saturday Night around 6pm, at 5pm, s/b a red flag that the place isn't that great. Anyway once we sat down and ordered 6 dishes, all 6 came out within 2 minutes of each other. Apparently the kitchen didn't have anything to do besides overload our tiny table with mediocre food. The quality of the food has definitely gone downhill since they first opened, which is unfortunate. The items we ordered were not up to expectations for Peruvian food. The most disappointing item was the Seafood Paella. The sauce was watery, and the dish tasted fishy. Maybe the seafood had been sitting around for a while. Not to mention the fact that the restaurant is Extremely NOISY ! Like Charlie Brown used to say "GOOD GRIEF"

Yelp
I love this place. I went a few days ago and am just now leaving a review. I brought my furry pal along as well and we sat on the patio. I always order the lomo saltado but I decided to Try something new. I ordered the pescado a la plancha. It sounded amazing, only thing is the menu didn't mention that it contained calamari (squid) after having a few bites (which were amazing and tasty) I saw the calamari and freaked out . By this time I already had the tequenos for an appetizer ( wontons rolled like taquitos filled with cheese with avocado and tamarind dips on the side), so I was full, but I still knew I wanted my usual so I still ordered the lomo saltado to go. I didn't make a big fuss because it was my mess up for not asking what was all in the soup. I'm still giving 5 stars because the food here is great and the service and atmosphere is amazing.

Yelp
Went for anniversary dinner. This Peruvian restaurant is very good! Cute outdoor area which we sat at. It is actually not located near downtown Walnut Creek but closer to Bart Pleasant Hill. Reservations recommended! They were quite busy. Food was very tasty. I got the seafood stew (pescado a Lo macho) and ate the whole thing! Nice big seafood pieces, very creamy rich broth. Empanadas were yummy (got the trio) and so was the hangover soup (get this!). The hubby got the roasted chicken (Pollo a La brasa) which was also very tasty. Loved their cocktails so much had 2 each. Nice place to catch up with friends or have a date night!

Yelp
After 9 months since my first (and disappointing) visit, my partner and I finally came back to give the dine-in experience another chance and we brought my brother and his wife. I am so happy that our experience this time around was positive all around. We went on a Friday during the dinner rush and they were busy. Luck for us, there was a table available and we were seated immediately. The waitress was on top of her tables. I never felt like I had to flag her down. She always stopped by to check in whenever we were ready to order or whenever we thought something was taking a little bit longer than expected. It was a complete 180 from our first visit which was extremely disappointing on the service front. I am so happy they've progressed in the right direction to make sure customers are happy with all aspects of the restaurant experience. The food was just as great as before. The empanadas are still my favorite for sure and I love all the different sauces that come with them. I really like the flavors of the scallops and they were cooked perfectly. The ceviche could have had a little bit more citrus. It was missing the extra flavor from citrus. The short ribs were so tender and I really like the bbq sauce that they were slathered in. The tequenos were unique and surprisingly more of a sweet option than a savory. The anticuchos chicken were seasoned very well and definitely still juicy. The anticuchos mushroom were underwhelming but it also tasted like something that my dad makes quick often so I would have opted to order something else if I knew. The last savory dish we got was the 1/2 pollo a la brasa. The fries it came with were so crispy and delicious. The chicken definitely need more flavor. For dessert, we got the alfajores were were a table favorite. The cookies were nice and flaky and the caramel kept it all together. The flan de quinoa was definitely good for me as it wasn't super sweet but my partner and brother would have preferred something sweeter.

Yelp
The food here was really similar to The Voya which used to be in Mountain View and is now unfortunately closed. The pictures are the best examples of the colors and flavors provided here. The Ceviche was perfect. I had the trio as my lunch entree' along with a Papaya/Orange drink which seemed to be pure fruit with no added sugar. Scallops ordered by my co-worker were a win but the fried chicken and avocado was good but rich. Setting is very nice and the server was excellent. Overall a great experience and I plan to return and hit the cocktails for a dinner session.
