"Open since 2006 at the edge of the East Village and Union Square, this cafe at 114 Fourth Avenue near East 12th Street has closed after the landlord declined to renew the lease, EV Grieve reports. Owner Kim Paradis, a French-trained chef who opened the place with her husband, a butcher, built a following for house-roasted coffee, flaky pastry sandwiches, and chef-driven but affordable fare that made it a neighborhood staple. (Comment is only about Whoopie pie.) I was attracted by their whoopie pie and I’m glad I tried! It was two chocolate chip cookies with a scoop of chocolate ice cream in between. Really a heavy and rich dessert or snack for chocolate lovers. I would hoping they create new flavors! Would like to stop by again for meals next time.

The food and beverages are so dang delicious, so well priced, & so varied. I don't know any other place like this. They have a different set of meal options each day, along amazing pastries, and you grab and go. It's not meant for a sit down meal. The staff members are so sweet. I'm obsessed with their carrot cake.

Are here for lunch for years starting in 2009. Loved it so much that Kim catered our wedding in 2012 and everyone still talks about the food a decade later. This place is holding strong! We love the creative combinations in the salads and sides that use fresh, local ingredients and lots of herbs. So much flavor and inventive combinations that always work.

This place never disappoints! The food is always delicious at a reasonable price. I love that they have seasonal dishes and how you can mix and match. It’s hard to find a place that tastes really good and isn’t crazy expensive. I always look forward to eating lunch here.
