A New Rooftop Restaurant and Sidewalk Cafe Are Opening in Mission Hills - Eater San Diego

"Paradis will be an all-day sidewalk cafe with an outdoor courtyard that will serve coffee, tea, and pastries during the daytime before transitioning to an evening menu of martinis and amari paired with tapas and small bites. Calling the design “dreamy and romantic”, Downing says the restaurant will evoke the vintage vibes of a Parisian cafe." - Candice Woo

Yelp
This is my review # 4000 and what an honor to review a hidden gem in Paradise Hills! the Paradise Hills native gardens caught me by surprise last week when I was in the area. I searched on Yelp for interesting things to do around and found this. I am into gardens, trees, plants, flowers. I love nature and value enormously the effort that many volunteers have put to create this from a landfill. It is amazing. I did a long hour meditation walk around the park, checking every label to learn about the local flora. Learned also about 4 varieties of trees you can only find in San Diego county. I encounter a group of volunteers discussing the next planting they will be working on, chat with them and kept enjoying my own company in a meditative state. It is a great place to relax, very recommended a visit for nature lovers and people who like to get off the beaten path too. There are so many different corners and angles in San Diego and this neighborhood is an interesting discovery

Yelp
This used to be an old weedy landfill. Paradise Gardeners has turned this into a nice place to walk around among the native plants.

Yelp
This site within Paradise Hills Community Park is being transformed. A small landfill capped and covered in the 1960s is now wrapped with demonstration gardens showing visitors how water-wise, climate-adapted native plants are both naturally beautiful and ecologically so important. Pollinators are in love with these gardens, expect to see plenty of butterflies most of the year. One of the garden areas is focused on Kumeyaay ethnobotany, and interpretive plants signs throughout the gardens are very informative.

Yelp
This garden is a treasure in the Paradise Hills neighborhood. There are lots of native plants attracting birds and pollinators, and educational signs and kiosks. Very cool to see native plants and how they have been used by native people throughout history. What a great experience to walk around the loop, enjoy nature, get a bit of exercise, and learn something new.
