Paradise Park Cafe

Disappointed by this cafe. My daughter and I went there for lunch on a Friday afternoon and were excited about the menu of sandwiches, especially the hot chicken with spicy aïoli. Because we had our dog with us, we sat outside in the sun on a beautiful day. The traffic on San Pablo was very loud and we sat there for 25 minutes waiting for our two sandwiches. Although the place was not full, it appeared that they did not have proper staffing because many of diners had order tents on the table waiting for their food to arrive. We were starving. and were so happy that our sandwiches finally arrived. Although the baguette was crusty and the spicy aïoli tasty, the inside of the sandwich was made up of iceberg, lettuce, and sad, tomatoes, and onions-it essentially looked like a Safeway sandwich. On top of that, the side was ruffles potato chips which was lazy and cheap. Btw, you can substitute the chips for a salad for $3 extra - really? Sadly I won’t be returning.

Awesome local cafe. Nice crowd. Amazing pastrami Reuben sandwich with super good GF (Costco) grain bread. Never had their coffee.

Literally THE best tater tots and avocado toast. I get the avocado toast whenever I come here. Can't even get it anywhere else now because it doesn't compare to here. Honestly everything on their menu is really good. Their coffee is also amazing! Definitely recommend stopping by here (and getting their avocado toast)

I really want to like this place. It’s very cute inside, nice tables outside, and there’s really nothing else comparable nearby. But I don’t. I visited for the third time since it opened today. My coffee was room temperature. The broccoli soup was also room temperature and underseasoned. The hummus was extremely salty. Table service men setting down the plates on the table but not asking who had what or where they should go. You’re supposed to bus your own table, which means the tables are not always clean. Ours had crumbs on it and there were crumbs on the chairs as well. It’s popular but I have to assume that is mostly because there is nothing comparable nearby.

Such a cute place! The staff are really sweet and everything here taste great! Thank you to the staff for great recommendations of what to eat.

Had an incredibly bad smoothie here, probably the worst of my life. It was the kale crunch (kale, banana, with almond butter) and it was both gritty and so bitter! All I could taste was almond butter with the strong astringent aftertaste of unripe banana. I also watched the person making the smoothie finish an almond milk container and not bother to open a new one, so the cup was not quite as filled as I think it was supposed to be. Not that I wanted more of the smoothie, I couldn't even finish it as is. I didn't think it was possible to mess up a smoothie!

neighborhood staple with something for everyone! lots of delicious sandos, pastries, and drinks. they have pretty good vegan/veg/GF options too. cute vibe, ample seating, kind staff! we’re so lucky to have this in the neighborhood <3 big points for fresh juice made on the spot (NOT pre-bottled) and they have lots of sweet juices and some savory green ones.

What a cute and cozy place! Stopped by at 3 PM on a weekday, it was PACKED 😅 Had to strategize my move for a table. Ordered an almond croissant and coffee, surprised at how reasonably priced the food was, given this is such a busy street in Oakland and so popular. I hope it stays that way. Used WiFi to get some work done, while the sun sank over the buildings out front. A Verb for Keeping Warm, one of the bay area’s finest yarn stores, is now right next door which makes it super compelling for me to visit next time.

Highlights: Service was great and it's a good place to work from. Other: I'd say the breakfast burrito was ok! Nothing special but was filling. I ended up only eating half and reheating/pan frying it at home which made it a bit better.

This place is more likable than it is good. Brunch review: I got the ham and cheese croissant. The brunch carb side option is puffs. I love puffs but I have them at home because they're a perfect no-try option in the air fryer. Brunch restaurants should try harder.. and make breakfast potatoes or hash browns, IMNSHO. The sandwich was pressed and hardened into a half inch of its life. Had to use a knife to saw bites off. Also ordered French toast. The French toast was a whispy dissolving nothingness held together by a smidgeon of egg batter. Too insubstantial, wrong bread. The vibe is great. The cold brew was excellent. I'll try again for lunch but brunch is a miss.

I come in for chai and pastries every blue moon, both are consistently good! I love to stop in to do work and although I wish they had more outlets, it's one of my top cafes to WFH. I hear incredible reviews about the food by word of mouth and got to try the Buddha bowl recently which I really loved. I'm excited to try more!

Spacious cafe with great menu variety. I appreciate that they have vegan options as well. The lox was great quality and quantity. I also really enjoyed their fresh juice. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is counter service and self bus.

Tatoquiles -- genius! It tasted so good and was a good portion and price! The staff are super kind, even when they were extremely busy. One member even kindly took my finished plate while I was on a virtual meeting. I would say for casually hanging out it is a great spot. For working -- or at least conducting meetings -- maybe less so. There's a lot of social buzz, which is great! But there's something about the acoustics that make it really difficult to hold a virtual meeting when it's busy. I would definitely come back!

Yelp isn't up to date. I ordered a breakfast burrito that was supposed to be less than $10 on the menu but when i showed up in person it was $11.95? I would recommend calling before you show up here. You can clearly see that they slapped new pricing labels on all their menu items at the restaurant.

After passing this place many times, we finally decided to stop in, and I am happy we did. The staff was friendly, and all showed my dog love. The food we ordered was delicious. I would love to return to try the rest of the menu. BB

Love their Paradise Salad with Vietnamese chicken sausage! So delish and fresh. Friendly staff and when I called in for an order, they were helpful and didn't rush me. Love the ambiance of people reading and hanging out.

My niece recommended this local spot and I was very happy she did. Cool atmosphere and a chill vibe. The food was pretty fantastic. I ordered the Curry Chicken Salad and loved every bite. Great flavor and texture, the bacon added a delightful dimension. My niece orders the breakfast burrito and enjoyed it. I'll try that next. I had the Chai Crush Smoothie and enjoyed the flavors, the banana truly added a nice touch to the chai spice. I had a great experience and will return.

Food & service were good, but sadly they do not accept cash anymore and that is my preferred payment method. They take my choice, so mostly I now prefer to grab coffee and eat elsewhere. It's super close & otherwise convenient

I was a little worried about ordering from here due to the rating but there were enough vegan items that I decided to take a chance, and I am so glad I did because I loved what I got. I used DoorDash and everything was perfectly packaged. The vegan breakfast burrito was so delicious and flavorful, and not in the greasy heavy way that breakfast burritos usually are (which I can be in the mood for but sometimes I want something that doesn't sit as heavily in my stomach). It was definitely tangy, probably due to the tomatoes or maybe pickled onions, but so tasty especially with the chickpea tofu. Came with a side of tater tots which were still pretty crunchy even being delivery. I also ordered the paradise salad and added quinoa with extra chickpea tofu. It was so good, I loved the textures and especially loved the smokiness of tbe grilled asparagus (which usually isn't my favorite vegetable). The fried onions on top were tasty but I wanted to stay away from something more heavy so I wouldn't get that next time. I loved how healthy and flavorful everything was. I gorged but didn't feel TOO guilty. Lavender latte was a little sweet so next time I would ask for 1/2 sweet.

This is my neighborhood go to spot for salads, breakfast, coffee, pastries etc. my favorite thing here is their paradise salad with the chicken sausage. But I also get the Cobb and some of the others as well. Everything is always tasty. For parents: this place is awesome there is a kid corner with toys and comfy seating. Safe place for kids to play and they can snack on muffins and you can eat your own food and enjoy some coffee. HUGE parent win. I don't know why more places don't do this. It is pretty busy and good for them so I tend to order ahead for my lunch but also when I come to get a quick muffin and coffee it's no problem. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I'm so happy to have such a good all around place like this in the neighborhood

Showed up to this place after church( super convenient it was across the street) . Had a fried chicken sandwich it was yummy, the grilled cheese was cool, coffee was refreshing. The wall counter has a bunch of stickers, bring one ! Service was nice! Will return again!

Very busy and lively local cafe. Standard cafe food - I would give it a 3.5/5. I got an iced vanilla latte which I personally was not a fan of sadly. The tater tots were DAMN good though and my partner enjoyed the ham and cheese croissant. There's like 2 outlets in the whole place so it's not very study friendly. It's also on the loud side and there is a kids play area but there's still a mix of people working and families. Appears to be dog friendly. Wifi password not posted. Indoor and outdoor seating.

My family and I were just there, and we really enjoyed the vegan breakfast burritos. They're surprisingly a lot tastier than we expected, I think the pico de gallo definitely took it to the next level. And it's a plus that they're a soy-free option, so even my 18 yr old was able to have one. We also really loved their oat mochas, super delish. My daughter had the mighty cleanse juice which was also really nice. Thank you for offering some great vegan options.

I just ordered this morning the kale smoothie and the paradise salad with grilled chicken and omg! Seriously what a refreshing meal I had. I had the smoothie for breakfasts and the salad for lunch and every leaf in the salad was fresh. Thank you for handling and picking out fresh leafs. This is literally now my go to place. I will probably end up ordering 2-3x a week! Sign me up I'm going to be a regular now. Oh I also got the vegan donut which isn't bad. I wish they put different choices in DoorDash. Didn't give me any choices expect it says vegan donut.

I am a kid at heart so I go for the Billie the kid; simple but yet goodie. Loving energy inside that i get when entering. Converting into a regular.

This place was great! Breakfast all day, which I love. I asked if they had any non-pork chorizo for the breakfast burrito and they said no but immediately offered avocado instead. Also, best tater tots I've ever had. Napoleon Dynamite would be impressed!

Despite being accused by the business owner, this is not a fake review. I attended the establishment on September 28th with a friend and the total for our two meals was 34.89. I was served a vegan breakfast burrito with a side of hashbrowns, which were likely bought frozen from the store. My friend was served a bagel with lox. For some reason, the lox and cream cheese were served on the side and had to be put together. Both I and my friend were disappointed with the quality of the food, which arrived after more than a 30 minute wait. To accuse my previous review of being fake rather thab attempting to address concerns over food quality is disrespectful and antiproductive.

Great vegan options, nice vibe, a good relaxing place to sit and work with coffee and food

This has been my local café for a year. I'm really grateful it's here. The staff are really nice and chat with customers when it's not too busy. There's a genuine community vibe. Diverse menu, although I usually stick to my favorites. If you order scrambled eggs they give you a big portion. I really like that there are different kinds of seating: a counter which makes it easy to chat with staff, individual tables, a community table, and booths. The decor is warm, not fussy or overly hip. Good fit for me.

Huge Meh! We were disappointed by an establishment near by and wanted to take shelter at a place that had vegan options. The menu was confusing because there would be a vegan/veg symbol but had meat on it? Like what? The ban mi had the wrong type of bread. Avocado toast, more like avocado basic bread. The breakfast burrito average. The tot dish, greasy and mediocre. Our coffee drinks were meh. Staff was friendly. They only had one bathroom for customers and someone was taking a long poo. He didn't even buy anything from the place so just a free loader bathroom user. Overall, meh. Will not be going back.

It's a shame I'm moving out of the area, because I met a friend there today for lunch. Busy corner cafe with indoor and outdoor seating, order at the counter, bus your dishes after. Service was friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. My friend had a technicolor Paradise salad brimming with fresh veggies, while I had the pastrami reuben, featuring Russian dressing with a spicy twist and caramelized onions instead of sauerkraut. The pastrami was delicious and lean. Plenty of vegan options for those who want that.

Lots of fun things to try here! I've had a beet and ginger juice, veggie banh mi, quinoa burger, and veggie breakfast burrito. Everything was superb, especially the banh mi. Looking forward to trying the BLT with veggie bacon, Buddha bowl, and avo toast on return visits. I'm not used to having so many veggie options, let alone at a cafe-type place! They have good outdoor seating and everyone I've encountered here has been nice (especially that server/barista guy who complained about restoration shamans).

Visiting from Oregon and was looking for a quick latte and dropped into this place. Great espresso, incredible juice bar and wonderful neighborhood ambiance.

The burger was great and big. The tater tots were great as well! The prices are quite pricey though. The service was good. I asked for medium well for the burger and that's what i got so that was great as well. I probably would come back one more time to try something else!

Really love the fools, it has a great community vibe and the smoothies are phenomenal. Gets a bit busy with laptop users but you can usually edge your way in for a seat.

Paradise Park Cafe was great! Our company picked up lunch for a meeting and it was a yummy way to break up a long meeting. The Quinoa Burger was tasty and fresh. I recommend it if you are liking something different and delicious! My coworkers had the Curried Chicken Salad with mixed reviews, but I think the person who was not convinced, also didn't like curry. Only order if you enjoy curry. TLDR: Good lunch break!

I love this coffeehouse/eatery -- it is a nice space, including outdoor seating and parklet, with yummy foods and (normally) friendly service (see below), and it offers one of the most affordable lattes in the East Bay, at less than $5, representing a considerable discount on the price-gouging $7+ lattes at other places (I'm looking at you, Cafenated). That said, they really need to tinker with their interior seating, with several seats currently placed next to a tiny second entrance on the corner of the building, their occupants treated to cold gusts (especially in the mornings) every time someone chooses that entrance versus the much larger main one a few feet away. When I put a chair in front of that tiny second entrance in order to direct visitors to that larger main one (which was admittedly a bit presumptuous of me, though nothing that had bothered staff before), the barista gave me that obnoxious passive-aggressive non-apology of "I'm sorry you feel that way" and then, "go sit somewhere else" -- not a more friendly and proportional "I know, it does make this part of the cafe cold, but we need to keep this open because..." This is nit-picking, I know, but I had just been really friendly to this particular barista -- I always am at coffeehouses and especially at this one. To be given that sort of response was quite off-putting. I know it shouldn't, but this sort of thing will make me less likely to return.

A short stop for breakfast before heading south to Los Angeles, a long drive on Interstate 5. A nice cafe just off corner with a large dining area. Lots of menu items to choose from. My coffee was good along with my bagel and veggies. Also ordered the vegan breakfast wrap with hash browns. A expresso shot to hit the road.

The food is very good. However, it takes FOREVER to get it, so don't come hungry. Just waited 40 minutes for a salad and a sandwich. The sandwich was just the turkey avocado and bacon. I don't understand. I want to come back because the food is very very tasty. The service is wild though.

Love this cafe! My new go-to spot for breakfast. Sometimes you can only find a coffee shop with pastries or bagels. Paradise has pancakes that are crème de Le crème and the Totaquiles??! Don't get me started. The best. On top of that, they are super nice and the vibe is perfect if you need to get out of the office and get work done. Shout out to Chris! He was making a smoothie for himself that peaked my curiosity and when I asked about it, he gave me half of it to try! It was LEGIT. Still waiting to hear what he names that delicious masterpiece.

this place used to be awesome and the people used to pay attention to details. I don't know what happend but the last couple times my drink has been wrong or the food just takes a long time. This last time I waited 30 minutes for a breakfast burrito only to find out it was done just sitting there and no one called out the name. It took me to wave down an employee that hadn't even start his shift yet to help me. He then finally saw the bag just sitting on the counter. My tots are cold and burrito is subpar. It's a shame, and I know I'm only one person but won't be recommending this place anymore.

This place always looks busy every time we've driven by so we finally checked it out for brunch while out running errands. Cute outdoor space, dog friendly. You order inside at the counter and they bring the food out. We ordered the grilled cheese, totchos, and pear smoothie. The woman who took our order said our smoothie would be right out. After 15 minutes we went back inside and asked about the smoothie and it was obvious she forgot about it. We also asked her to turn on the heat lamp which she also forgot about. She said she would get right on it. Another 15 minutes pass and a waiter brings out our food. We ask about the smoothie and heat lamp and he doesn't know anything about the smoothie. They forgot again but he did turn on the heat lamp. Finally at the end of the meal our smoothie came out and it was BOMB like 10/10 so good best smoothie of my life and best thing we had while we were there. The entrees we got were good not great, my totchos were cold and the grilled cheese wasn't cooked through so there was layers of unmelted cold cheese. Mehhhh.

Extremely more service. They have one person cooking while the others are just walking around. Food came out cold and basically not cooked. I've never written a review before but here we are. Never eating here again.

Updating my review: I love this place. I highly recommend. This is one of my favorite places to hang out in Oakland. The front of the house staff are friendly and hard working. Coffee drinks are consistently good, the fresh juice is delicious. Drinks come out quickly. The atmosphere is lovely. People are kind. The music is fun and unobtrusive. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. They have an extensive menu with super wholesome foods and can accommodate a range of diets and desires. The Cobb salad is a perfect keto option so I started ordering it again. I left some feedback through the Toast app that my experience of inconsistency coming out of the kitchen was making it hard to know what I'd get... and over the past few months the food coming out of the kitchen has become 100% consistent, and predictably delicious. I go there with friends from the studio across the street, who've also experienced more kitchen consistency. The fried chicken sandwich and the Cobb salad are two of our favorites. The food is great here. I've eaten here about three different times. I've even order through Ubereats sometimes. I would come here way more frequently but the staff has NO customer service skills. The complete opposite of friendly. I'm standing by the counter to ask for the WiFi password and I feel as if I'm in the way instead of needing help from someone who works here. It's a coffee shop and the wifi password isn't posted anywhere.

The food and drink are solid, with some great options such as the pizzas and smoothies. My main complaint is that there is an outlet without a cover on directly adjacent to the kids play area. I've brought this up several times to staff members. All have feigned concern and stated it would be brought up to management, but nothing has been done. Honestly it would take minutes to put an outlet cover around the plugs and then kids couldn't stick their fingers directly on to live wires. I don't understand why it is so difficult to address.

Second time I order a chai, second time it just tastes like water or something in between water and chai. Next time I'll try their matcha and see if that's better. The plus side about this place is that it's the only cafe around the area that has a hood selection of drinks, food, and baked goods. There's plenty of seating and it's been there for quite a while. The Breakfast burrito is pretty good. Very tasty chorizo and fillings. I'd definitely come back for another one of those.

The experience was ok. The carrot cake bread was yum, the almond croissant was rich and my latte was ok. They made my croissant too crispy when heated. The follow up service was not good. They tried to be pleasant and helpful. Would I come back? The location was convenient, parking was easy on a Sunday morning, it was clean, service was decent, food/drinks was ok- so maybe depending on the options available.

I've passed by this place driving on San Pablo but was not tempted to stop by until recently when I noticed James and the Giant Cupcake was a couple of doors down. It's not that I'm a cupcake whore. OK, maybe a mini-cupcake whore which is like saying I'm an anorexic glutton. Anyway, I got my mini-cupcakes to go and decided maybe I could have an actual meal here. After all, I just finished my brisk walk on the Bay Bridge Trail, so I felt deserving. The first thing I noticed was how popular it was with almost every table occupied by pairs in deep conversation or equally preoccupied laptoppers taking their own tables. I was immediately drawn to the $11.95 Paradise Salad, quite a hearty bowl with a bed of organic greens, grilled asparagus, fresh carrots, radish, mint, sugar snap peas, pickled red onion, and Vietnamese-style chicken sausage, topped with fried onions and toasted peanuts and drizzled with citrus vinaigrette (photo: http://bit.ly/32Irpwm). I'm addicted to the Paradise Park salad with chicken, so many yummy elements (including peanuts for those with allergies). Most food options here are solid and it's a friendly neighborhood spot to meet for a coffee or lunch - the small play area for younger kids is awesome too.

All in all, this place is beautiful and support it's culture, tasty croissants. However, my boyfriend ordered a pizza that was still cold, gross, and not eye appealing. It was over priced for this kind of result . He quotes "I'll stick to round table". From a second point of view, I tried it as well, and it was definitely not the best pizza I ever tasted. I have friend who has a family owned pizza restaurant that sells pizza for less than this and better quality. I ordered a almond cross that was delicious, and a mocha that came with the order. No problem, delicious. But pizza a big no.

Love the atmosphere, friendly staff, smiles all around. Ordered to go to have coffee and food during meetings; herb scramble with lox was creamy and salty; golden latte was warm and comforting.

I waited 30 minutes for this and it was suppose to be a fried chicken sandwich but it was mostly just a piece of chicken that was dipped in oil and fried improperly. Highly disappointed with that days experience.

The service is usually pretty friendly & so far everything I've ever ordered had been delicious. Plus they make my lattes exactly how I like them. If they're busy I suggest ordering ahead online as the wait can be a little long.

Super yummy! Best coffee. Not sure what anyone has to complain about on here. Their food is awesome and delicious and they have burgers but also smoothies and salads. Best of everything. So glad it's here and I hope they are here for years to come.
