Paradise Point Resort & Spa

"How did it strike you on arrival?Paradise Point is a little slice of Hawaii right in San Diego. Located on an island in Mission Bay (known for its water sports), the resort’s 44 acres are decked with tropical gardens and lagoons. What’s the crowd like?Proximity to SeaWorld and Mission Bay, plus access to abundant surf classes and babysitting services, mean this resort draws primarily families. Tell us about your room. The 462 rooms are set up bungalow-style and range from basic (with little or no view) to premium (with beach or garden views). The suites have features like dining rooms, wet bars, and private outdoor patios. The vibe is “tropical beach cottage,” with bright colors and lots of light. Doubles start from $229. How were the rooms? The beds are on the firmer side, so keep that in mind if you’re looking for something a bit more plush. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? There's a mini-fridge in the room, but it's empty. How's the WiFi?The good news is it’s free, but the bad news is it’s a bit spotty. What about food and dining? There are two restaurants: Barefoot Bar & Grill (breakfast, sandwiches, and salads) and Tidal (upscale dinner and dessert). Anything stand out about other services and features? What the resort may lack in five-star rooms, it makes up for in well-manicured grounds and recreation options. There are five pools (one for adults only), a one-mile beach, five tennis courts, an NBA-regulation basketball court, mini-golf, croquet, bike rentals, and "dive-in" movies by the pool. What was most memorable about your stay? There are enough on-site activities to keep even the most hyper of kids occupied. Bottom line: worth it, and why?The rooms are a bit disappointing, but for a family vacation, you can't beat the resort’s beautiful 44 acres, nor its proximity to SeaWorld and other landmarks." - Archana Ram

Booked through Hotels.com, prepaid in full — expecting a relaxing stay with my 14-year-old daughter. What we got was a disaster from the start. Walk into reception — bad smell hits you immediately. The front desk girl talks like she’s half asleep and hits me with a $46/day parking fee. I asked if there was an alternative and she says, with a straight face, “You can leave it in the public lot if you want it towed.” Not even a fake smile. I politely asked if we could get a nice room — same deadpan vibe. No welcome, no “let us know if you need anything,” nothing. You’re running a resort, not a prison intake desk. Next day, we tried the water activities — the staff acted like we were bothering them just by asking basic questions. Cold, rude, unhelpful. Then my daughter wanted to get her nails done at the spa. They refused because she’s “under 16.” I told them she’s almost 15, smiled politely, and said, “Come on, it’s just nails…” Still got a hard “no” with a look like we were asking for a kidney. The attitude was unreal. The cherry on top? The manager texts me after check-in as part of their routine “is everything okay?” follow-up. I explain everything — bad reception, rude staff, poor service. She acts shocked… and then vanishes. No solution, no apology, no follow-up. Just silence. This is a tired, outdated resort that relies on nice photos and a waterfront location to distract you from the fact that they don’t care. Absolutely not worth the money.

I came here for a work conference and it completely met my expectations. The conference room was a bit cold but is not usually for these types of medical conferences. The breakfast they served was delicious. I enjoyed both the main pool and the adult only pool. I enjoyed the pool options. My room was perfect and had a back door directly leading to the beach. It is more geared towards families but couples can have a good time here as well. Booking kayaking was easy and the on-site restaurants were delicious. The staff was friendly also.

This is a great place to stay for families. The beaches are open to the public, so if you are looking for an upscale, private resort this is not the place for you. Overall service is great, and the staff is friendly. Sea World is right down the road. I put four stars for the location because we rented a car for part of our stay and used Uber for the remainder. Even though each room has a designated spot, there is a fee for parking. While it is located in Mission Bay on the beach, it isn't super close to other areas of the city that one may want to visit. The rooms are nice, but there isn't much room to store luggage. There is a mini-fridge but no microwave. I read another review which described the rooms as being out-of-date and that they wouldn't be cleaned without requesting so. That was not my experience. Room decor was fine. Someone visited our room daily to deliver clean towels and make our beds.

I stayed at Paradise Point with my family and stayed poolside with my little one for 2 days. The Tropics Cantina attached to the pool was the best! Best pool food ever! All the servers are so sweet, especially Lily! She came by several times and even blew up a huge pool toy for my little boy. He was delighted! She even remembered my sons name the next day. I'll definitely be back!

We spent the weekend and had a lovely time. This was a one time splurge as $500 per night is a bit out of our retirement budget. Parking was easy but an additional $46 per night. We did not use any amenities nor did we dine anywhere. We spent the days at the beach enjoying the company of my adult children and grandchildren who also stayed there in a beach front bungalow. (We were behind them facing one of the ponds.) It's a nice location and the beach area was great. It was our first staycation and we plan to do more of them as we are not doing the long distance travels of past years. San Diego is a wonderful place to live and to visit. This hotel and property are one of the best in the area.

We had some friends staying at this resort, and they invited us to come spend an afternoon with them with our kids. We had such a fun afternoon by the pool. It was gorgeous day to be outside, and we ordered food and drinks to keep everyone fed and happy. I was so impressed with the great service! We had a dinner reservation at Tidal, which was such a great experience! The food was amazing and we had such an incredible experience with their manager Teddy, and their top-notch bartender, Aaron. We felt so welcomed and taken care of by both of them. Aaron was a riot, and made our dinner such a fun memory. My husband had one of the most delicious margaritas he’s ever had (and that says a lot!). This was such a wonderful experience! We had no idea what a hidden gem this place is. We popped by the Barefoot grill when we were done with dinner, to let the kids see the fishies and to grab a drink at the bar. The staff there was soo nice and welcoming too. I’m not sure how you have so many wonderful employees working at one resort, but I can tell you this, we will be back! We are huge fans, and love that this hotel is in our backyard.

Google
Pretty location but our card keys were randomly inactivated / suddenly stopped working on the very first full day of a three night stay.. so yeah, the card key access system appears to have technical issues— ours needed to be reset by their security team. All the staff and employees we encountered were super friendly and genuinely trying to do their best to make our stay go smoothly.

Paradise Point was the perfect place for our family of four with two teens. The views from the room were incredible- our patio overlooked Mission Bay and the bay beach was steps away. Having coffee, light breakfast and restaurant options as well as room service anytime of day was super convenient. We loved the pools and the fire pits as well. We didn’t get to utilize the kayaks, paddle boards, etc and it would have been nice if those were included with the resort stay but otherwise we had no complaints! Close proximity to everything San Diego has to offer! Would definitely recommend for families and especially large family trips. We booked through Trip Guy Travel, LLC and couldn’t have been happier with the accommodations!

Yelp
Paradise Point Resort in San Diego is fantastic for conferences! I recently attended a three-day event here and really enjoyed the experience. One of the highlights is that they have a completely separate area dedicated to meetings and banquets, making it easy to focus and network without distractions. The facility is modern, well-maintained, and impressively clean. Plus, being right along the water adds a refreshing and scenic touch--such a great place to work from! The only downside is the catering service for conferences, specifically the breakfast options. Outside of their brunch menu, the choices felt limited, which was a bit of a letdown. Hopefully, they expand their food offerings in the future. Overall, we love coming here and are already looking forward to our next visit--this time, we plan to stay in the hotel and experience more of what the resort has to offer!

Yelp
As someone who lived in San Diego, now resident to Arizona... This hidden gem tucked in the heart of Mission Bay is the perfect getaway for anyone! You have multiple pools, amazing dining experiences, beautiful landscapes and genuine hospitality! There are many activities for any age... bike rides, mini golf, beach time, whatever you wanna do it's available! You must experience this resort as you feel like you have been on an island although close to town! The room was fantastic with jaw dropping views! Overall this resort gave me a taste of home like no other! Go visit here and you will see why it's such a beautiful place

Yelp
What a bad experience. We checked in yesterday due to the Pacific Palisades fires. We ended up booking one of their 2 queen beds regular rooms (D438) and 1. Closet was dusty and dirty. 2. Bedsheets were discoloration and not replaced with new ones. They had piling and felt like sandpaper. We ended up buying new ones to us. 3. The room doesn't even have a desk you can work on. Just 1 chair. Then at night we opened the fridge to put our food/Meds and I realized that it was hot and not working. I called front desk and the guy stated the engineer will be over shortly. 30 minutes later, I called back and was told they can't tell me what time they will come as it's a different department but that they will dispatch them now so they go over. An hour later, I call and ask they need to send someone asap as it's been one hour and my 4 yr old ID all ready asleep. He put me on hold and said the engineers have left for the day. Then this morning, I called frank desk and asked for room service. I told them that we will be out until late at night and I have removed the do not disturb sign. I just got back (7pm) and no one touched the room. We won't be staying here again

Yelp
I had the pleasure of staying at Paradise Point as both a hotel guest and a conference attendee. The resort is amazing, and I think it is a great place for a staycation in Southern California. The staff were all super helpful and kind, definitely living up to the luxurious image. You can call or text them at any hours for a ride from their golf carts or anything else you might need. As a guest of the hotel I was very comfortable with their amenities. My bungalow had a hugeeee bed, so much space in the room in general. There was a huge walk-in closet too! And a back patio with two seats. Super super cute! It can probably use a bit of renovation but their property is so vast, they must cycle through the rooms. The one I was in can use some upgrades. Unfortunately I didn't get to enjoy much of the resort due to my conference schedule. I will say they had less activities available during the weekday, and yet you are still paying the same resort fees. Weekends have better activities if you are planning a stay here. Oh also I didn't like the bugs everywhere. Since the resort has so many plants. I found 1 flying bug and 2 crawling bugs during my 3 days/2 nights stay. As a conference attendee, it was difficult that everything is so spread out at the resort, I would have to take the golf cart or drive over. The first night I took the golf cart, I found that getting the ride back to my room was a challenge. Also I didn't like the wind blowing my hair and messing it up. So I decided to just drive my car to the conference area during the day time, and take the shuttles during happy hour or dinner hours where there would be drinks. I found that the staff was super kind and courteous and everything was prepared for us in a timely manner. The meals type we opted for on the different days had a variety of things: charcuterie board, heavy appetizers, light breakfast, brunch, dinner, breakfast. Mostly tasty... but I would say something for everything, and they had the option to accommodate to dietary needs. I have mixed feelings about coming back since it's so luxurious and enjoyable, but at moments it doesn't feel super convenient. For the purpose of a conference, sometimes I can quickly run up to my room and grab something during a quick break, but here, there is low benefit in staying at the conference hotel if you basically need to drive over anyways. Definitely a pricey splurge, but their staff really does everything to make sure you enjoy your visit.

Yelp
You can tell that Paradise Point has seen brighter days. Although slightly older and outdated, it holds the charm of a classic San Diego experience. I recently attended a fun alumni event at Paradise Point. The event was held in the evening overlooking the water and we got a beautiful view of the sunset! While we were there, there were many events taking place. They have a large events space, so it isn't uncommon to share the property with others. We were close to a wedding and I almost went to their bar, but was thankfully guided to our correct bar by some other event attendees. What stood out about my experience here was the food! All the catered food was so delicious. We had classic favorites like grilled cheese, burgers and fried chicken sliders, but they were elevated and so tasty! We also had a delicious taco bar. Everything was incredible!

Yelp
2 cups of coffee later... When I mentioned this to staff, I wasn't expecting them to be upset. 2 weeks later and still no resolve.

Yelp
Aptly named, Paradise Point. I'm talking about the beach, not the resort. We didn't stay at the resort (although years ago I once did, long before Yelp!). On this occasion we were hanging out with some friends for the day on their boat. We motored up to the beach at Paradise Point and anchored in the sand. It is like a little cove. Calm waters, great beach. The resort backs up to it, with their bungalows facing the water, but it is a public beach. We set up our little spot with chairs and an umbrella and enjoyed sandwiches from the deli inside the Dana Landing Market and Fuel Dock we picked up on the way. We floated in the water for a while and just had a great day at the beach. There are a few city provided concrete firepits scattered around the beach. First come, first serve. There are also trash cans for your convenience - use them!

Yelp
I think 3 stars is a very fair rating. This is going to be long, but legit. Checked in on a Friday, Blez helped us check in. She's a 5 star keeper, happy, friendly, and super efficient, which was amazing because the check in line went out the door. Our room, 520 was very clean (props to housekeeping) and perfect for our family. It smelled a little musty, but opening the front and back door for an hour or so helped. On the surface, the room looks worth the $400 per night, but a closer look shows things are dated. Parking was a disaster. The spots are very small, and our first neighbor had a large truck. We had to squeeze in with our door narrowly missing a boulder. If one person parks wonky, it messes up the whole parking situation. The good news is, if you don't mind walking, you can park in the public lot. We went to the gym, which was posted no one under 16 allowed, only to have a huge throng of preteen boys swarm in. There were also roving groups of boys on electric bicycles cruising the property, riding down the middle of the street, blocking traffic. Kids being kids with a small amount of entitlement thrown in. In the bar, we were waited on by Mike. He was also a 5 star bartender. Great suggestions on food and drinks, and even answered some questions about local businesses. Our intention was to kayak all weekend, but the water had a high bacteria advisory. This is where the resort was worth every penny. We did mini golf twice, lawn checkers, the scavenger hunt, wandered the paths, no one was bored. Finally, my daughter who was here on vacation, lost her purse. After checking out, we called several times, because we thought we may have left it in the room. Hours later, no one called back, so we drove back down. Sure enough, they had it, nothing was missing, it had been left in the room. Again, I have to shout out to housekeeping for turning it in. Highs and lows, but it wasn't the worst place we've ever been.

Melanie B.

Yelp
This hotel is dirty. The floors in the room turn your feet black. The sheets are rough and the bedding is very uncomfortable. The front desk is rude with no customer service. They have the nerve to charge 46$ a night to park your own car and 50$ a night for a resort fee. You call this place a resort. Beware do not book this place .

Yelp
Small dataset but I just can't help myself... I do have a comparable (aka, the nearby, across the bay, Bahia Resort) and I'm basing this on that ... First off, when you're here, it feels like a tropical paradise. Bungalows right next to the water, foliage everywhere and beautiful sunsets. Lots of extracurricular activities available (for a price) and nice eating / drinking establishments. Bungalows come with small patios and the adjacent beach has numerous fire pits available, you just have to reserve one early. Rooms are nicely appointed, some apparently more so than others so look into accommodations prior to booking to ensure you get what you want... If, (and it's a huge if), I had a negative vs Bahia, it's that you can't walk right over to the beach / Belmont Park area. That said, the serenity that Paradise Point offers is well worth it. Plus, the beaches here aren't as public so the chaos is virtually nonexistent. Will definitely be back. In fact, already looking into a summertime multiple , adjacent bungalow booking with the entire fam for this summer!!! 10 min drive to Old Town and a few extra to the Seaport / Gaslamp area.

Yelp
OMG!!! I love this place! Will definitely stay again. Our little Villa was great. The grounds were beautiful. Taking morning strolls was a great way to start my day. Having two restaurants with an oceanview was great. The food was delicious and service was also great.

Yelp
This resort has been around for a while and the interior of our room showed the age. Our last visit was about 15 years ago and the "feel" was similar to then. The room was surface clean but in need of a deep cleaning. Dust on the back of the bathroom door, grout discolored, a shoe print on the ceiling, paint pealing on a wall, light switches inoperable...lots of TLC needed. We were not asked nor offered maid service for our two day stay and none was provided. The beds were comfortable, large TV, charging ports available, and basics like fridge and coffee maker are provided. Our breakfast bought at a coffee cart in one of the cafes was mediocre with one of the muffins stale. At least staff was friendly. The grounds are beautiful and it does have the "resort" feel when walking around. The pools are well maintained, other services available including a spa and nice gym. Overall, we were disappointed in value of the stay for fees charged. You're paying for the views...
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
It's cute, the bungalows have been updated. However, we got in and settled into our room for about 10minutes when I saw a huge Cockroach scamper across the floor. We called the front desk and went back to the lobby all they did was hand us a key to another room. We checked out the next morning at 8:30-9:00am and when we checked out we were charged an additional $95 for parking and "resort activity fees" (of which we did none of). So with the extra fees (but free cockroaches) I would opt to stay somewhere else next time.

Yelp
Stayed at Paradise Point a few nights. Here are my pros and cons... Cons- the lady at the check in counter when I went to check in was very matter of fact and not real friendly. I walked up and said "hi how are you?" Her response was "name, drivers license and credit card". Our room was not ready and she didn't tell me about anything at the hotel of where we could go while we waited for 2.5 hours. I was told I would get a text when the room was ready and I never did. - the bar at the main pool closes at 5pm so if you want to watch the kids and enjoy a drink better go early. That is the only pool that has alcohol and music. - Tidal was never open while I stayed for 3 days. - freezer in the fridge leaked the entire time in the room so we had to clean water up every time we opened the mini fridge. - with all the other reviews yes wear shoes around the hotel room your feet will get super dirty within minutes. -when I called the instant response on the hotel phone I was put on hold for 25 minutes. Put it in speaker and watched a show with the kids as I was holding for more towels. Pros- the room was clean and spacious for 4 people. It had a little table, couple of chairs, 2 queen beds, bathroom etc. - The room had close access to a beautiful beach and was across one of the small pools. - the kids enjoyed feeding the ducks in the pond. - all the staff around the pool and people driving around were very helpful and would bring towels etc. when asked. - lots of pools for the kids to swim in and they stayed open to 10pm. They have bonfire pits at some of the pools but you have to reserve them really early before you go they get booked fast. -you can order food from anywhere at the resort and they will bring it to you. It is expensive but the food was good and it came within 18 minutes. Overall the stay was nice and the kids had a good time. It is very expensive so if you are planning on going just know you have a resort fee per day, parking fee per day and anything you buy at the resort is expensive. Suggestions for anyone going; take a microwave, toaster, beach chairs and fishing poles if you like to fish. Very pretty resort and lots to do to keep the kids busy.

Yelp
Conflicted......3 or 4 stars. Staff was great, the grounds are gorgeous n the views were stunning!! Here's the bad.... room smelled musty n the sheets on the bed were one of the worst I stayed on, felt like tons of little balled up lint rubbing against your body..... not a good feeling. Top it off, $46 for parking? Come on now man, that's just robbing the people!!! But OK, the grounds make up for it.... but disappointing still. I would stay here again n if the sheets are the same..... it will be our last.

Yelp
We came here bc it was recommended by several moms. They claimed it was like Hawaii without the flight. It's not. There are a lot of extra tax & fees on the final bill as well. Tidal was good not great. Oysters were fresh, flat bread was okay. Our golf cart forgot to pick us up for dinner, Barefoot was decent breakfast, decent service, the pools didn't feel 85° at all, the pool area ground was dirty, sticky - wear shoes, my son cut his foot from something by the pool, they do not clean rooms daily, we ran out of towels but didn't realize it till we took showers, they could use better quality toiletries, grounds were nice but definitely not Hawaii. We'd rather stay in downtown, next time.

Yelp
This is such a dump. I've heard about it forever and it disappointed in so many ways. Room was $1,100 per night. Look at the photos I shared. The sheets and pillow covers were pilled so badly. The walls were so thin I could clearly hear conversations next doors. The mattress was bumpy like cheap springy type with barely any material coverage and I felt the bumps and every move made in that bed. I felt grossed out and didn't want to touch anything. I can't believe I was talked into going here. Four Seasons at Park Aviara would have been cheaper and I would have felt like it was worth it. This was definitely NOT 4 stars. More like a motel. The positive things are the staff and the food was lovely at Barefoot restaurant. Slooow, but once ya girl eats, she's happy. The staff also was chef's kiss. I had great interactions with them and they were kind and eager to help. So, it's giving, great training, but greedy management. Not really investing in the quality of the product, because they can get away with location and past reputation. Leaning on hard working staff can only get you so far. Definitely not returning and spreading the word.

L G.

Yelp
If you're a fan of hard beds, this is the place for you. For the most part, this is an older resort. The bungalows have been updated in terms of new tile and paint/wall paper, but that's about it. There is a lot to do on the property, from mini golf, to pickleball, to swimming. There is a fun little scavenger hunt the kids can do to win a little prize at the gift shop that also helps the adults familiarize themselves with the property. The property is great for beach combing and has fire pits available along the beach (and at the pools). Housekeeping doesn't come daily, and since the towels don't dry on their own (thank you, humidity), you'll have to call to request new/dry towels. There's a lot of trash around the property, too. Bags of bird/fish food litters the ponds near the main pool and observation tower. Snack wrappers litter the golf course, and we kept finding random glass drink ware as we walked around. There are technically 3 restaurants on site, but two basically have the same menu--which are also available on the room service menu. All in all, if you don't intend to spend a lot of time in your room, Paradise Point is a great place for a little get away. It is very close to Sea World.

Yelp
What a classic hotel and property. You can feel the history all around you. it's rare to stay at a hotel on the water that has the unique charm of times passed. I hope they don't knock down all of the cottages and build up. Enjoyed a delicious Cuban sandwich at the Barefoot Bar!

Yelp
Had an incredible stay at the resort . All employees were helpful and friendly and service was excellent . Had Kylee H. Help us several times with rides and service. She was a delight to deal with and very knowledgeable about the resort and area .

Yelp
Sooooo when we were younger, this was our family's go-to vacation spot when we wanted a close getaway from LA. It's insane how familiar it all felt 20 years later. I remember everything from the ducks, to the tower, to the bike rentals. It was so nostalgic to be back there with my entire family, including my 2 younger nephews. We were a party of 10 (plus a small doggie) for the weekend and had 4 bungalows next to one another. This was definitely convenient, and nice that we all connected via the "backyard" areas. All of our rooms were great, very clean and had quality items. It was a plus that this is a dog-friendly resort as well. Considering that, I have some dander allergies and I was fine all weekend, indicating that the rooms and common areas were likely cleaned regularly, because I would otherwise be sneezing and sniffly. We had a blast doing jet skiing and boating for a few hours on one of the mornings, and then got the 10 person tandem bike that was just hilarious and fun (we didn't last very long lol). My nephews had fun doing the mini golfing, and LOVED feeding the ducks. We also did a smores night by the first come first serve bonfire area, which was fun. I'd say there's no need for that pricey "bonfire experience" that's advertised, it was easy to find an open spot on a Friday night around 830pm. Everything is decently priced, considering you're at a resort but some stuff if you can bring yourself, you're better off, especially if you're driving (e.g., s'mores things, drinks). Main complaint- the food at Tidal and barefoot cafe were very disappointing. I would have rather made reservations elsewhere off the resort and spend that money on better food but it is what it is. The views at tidal were beautiful. Barefoot cafe was a little annoying with their system in the morning, first come first serve even if you're a large party. Otherwise, we had a lovely time and are so grateful that this place still exists. We'll be back for sure :)

Cynthia L.

Yelp
Excellent customer service, vibe. Great resort amenities. Perfect venue for a conference. My only negative comment is that restaurant menu is limited.

Corey B.

Yelp
Pros: Resort is absolutely beautiful placement is perfect, the condo style rooms were nice and private Cons: you pay $50 per night (non refundable) for resort fees but when I needed something I'd call the office and never got any help unless I personally went up to the office to get what I needed, towels, toilet paper, etc.. then they charge $46 per night (non refundable) for parking which I think is ridiculous, one vehicle should be include especially since you get your own parking spot. Just my opinion.

Yelp
We stayed for two nights- three rooms (Friday- Sunday) check in was under last night Holbrook in case they claim this review is fact 1) our bad for leaving the keys in the car unlock 2) my keys have an Apple air tag on them 3) my keys have a "wallet" attached to them We woke to check out on Sunday around 9am ish maybe 10am. My husband notice the keys were missing to our truck but not only just the truck. The truck key and Camry keys were missing (mind you there $300 cash was sitting in the center console). Whoever "broke " into the truck only took the keys and not the cash. We were awake until 11;30pm having a fire and were awake by 9am, very short window. The second my husband could not locate my keys I pulled the AirTag location. The location took to directly to a housekeepers cart. When I approached her she was nice but kind laughed at me a bit. When I asked her to call Secuirty she wouldn't. I started to walk back to my room (7rooms over) she followed me. The AirTag also followed with her movement. I went back to show her and she would not acknowledge it. Billy from security showed up (amazing person). I was showing him the location of the Apple tag and what was going. He agreed it was odd and something was up. He went above and beyond to help us. The housekeepers staff, including their "manager", made it out to be they were the victim and I was wrong. There was zero help from them. I had clear evidence that a staff member was involved with the act.... Zero help. While the front desk manager was nice there was no assistance from her. From 9am-2:30 we worked with multiple tow truck companies to get my $80k truck towed from their property. The only person who cared was Billy!!! We spent $2,000 to be treated like trash

Yelp
Service requested - one night stay. Quality - Grounds were beautiful and gave Island aesthetic. We had the lanai garden view and shared the garden with other guests in other cottages. It was quiet and had ample parking onsite. During holidays, they had daily activities planned for guests. Location was about 15-20 minutes from Downtown SD.

Yelp
Checked in 08/06/24 and Checked out 08/09/24- I was about to book 5 nights but was skeptical due to mixed reviews of Paradise Point! So I only booked for 3 nights (just in case, there's a problem and don't wanna get stucked for the whole trip). I only did 3 nights as a trial (but can't extend it due to Paradise is fully booked for the weekend). That's when I chose to spend my two nights at Bahia (which aparently did not go well- you can check out my review for Bahia). These are the two resort hotels that are comparable and have close ratings but Bahia is nothing compared to Paradise. I can go over the differences and help you decide if ever you are having second thoughts on where to spend your money. After all, prices per night varies. It ranges from 350$ and up per night depending on the days of the week or holidays. This is just based on my personal experience and comparison as to why choose Paradise over Bahia. I am not affiliated with any of the hotels and just giving my honest opinion. 1. Customer Service- Paradise welcomed me as I walk thru the lobby. Greeted and check in as well as check out went smoothly. Bahia? Feeling of being unwelcome and Asst Manager arguing with me as a customer, forcing me for the so called upgrade even though it's the same price of my original booking that I want. Wanted to place me at the very creepy 4 story in the back that has cramped parking. 2. Parking- with Paradise, you have your own designated parking right in front of your bungalow. Lighted number at night for parking. Grab your stuff anytime and go anywhere is so easy! Bahia? Well, goodluck parking your car at any place with closed gates and dead end at the back of the hotel. They don't care where you can find your parking- after all, they got your $ already! 3. Feeling of Paradise- the way Paradise is designed with Palm trees, cleanliness, landscaping, set up of the bungalows. No upper part that makes you feel like you are in a solo house. Observation tower, feeding ducks which you can get in the lobby for free. Lighted post in fire like Paradise! Bahia- cramped up, 4 story on the sides and another 4 story in the back. Then up and down on the rest as you drive in their narrow road! Keep in mind, you want a peaceful vacation and not to stay in like an apartment, whether up or down! 4. Pools- Paradise has 5 pools including one for adults only. Pool is clean and well lit. Kids loved it, heated as well. Bahia? One pool with yellow ambience. That's no fun right there especially for the kids! 5. Furnishings- Paradise has a solemn, light colors, paradise feeling. Hoping that it's soundproof but not a big deal, just be wary of your neighbors. Bahia? Has old brown, boring Victorian looks that feels creepy and carpet smells as you walk in their stairs. One on top of another then of another. Not a good design. 6. Cleanliness- Paradise, of course! Even the smell of the rooms. 7. Amenities- for the same charges a night, I would go with Paradise as they have more to offer and will treat you right. Wifi is not bad, too. More activities and much more family oriented! They have an island Market for all your needs and reservations are organized to use the amenities. 8. Restaurants- Barefoot Bar and Grill and Tidal. As well as refreshments by the Pool. Bahia? I don't know what restaurants they have and what can they offer. 9. Price of stay- Paradise have slight higher price of difference of about 50$ but it's all worth it. I'd rather spend an extra 50bucks for all the convenience they offer and great service! 10. House number for each unit- Paradise, youcan clearly see at night, incase you get lost or trying to find your bungalow. They all look alike so being lost in the area is quite common. Bahia- numbers are too small. I had a hard time to find the room numbers as it's so small and dark alley way. Use led folks, it's 2024! It ain't no 1950s. 11. Staff that cleans are very respectful and attends to your needs right away! Any requests, they give it to you like towels, trash change, etc: They are happy workers at Paradise! And they play a huge part to make this Paradise a True Paradise! Without them, it would not be possible for this to thrive. Very hardworking , always friendly and smiling. Happy camper here! I could go on and on, but Paradise is like staying in a real Paradise! The feeling, the ambience, service. No need to think twice! Bahia's photos are not what it seems, deceiving- that's old photos- don't get fooled. I hope this review can help you decide and trust my word on this! This will be my place to go whenever I am at San Diego area! See you next time!

Yelp
Came here for a friend's 40th birthday. They rented a suite which had a good amount of space, patio with an ourdoor fire pit and small kitchenette. The view was great!

Yelp
Spent a long weekend with my family at this Paradise. Our second year doing so! My dad books rooms for his kids and grandkids as a Christmas present. I couldn't think of s better gift. Thank you dad! The rooms were large and clean, the grounds are so peaceful and GORGEOUS. It feels as if we booked a trip to an island. I see others complaining about noisy beach areas but I have to say the opposite. We come here as a family, 6 rooms booked! We all enjoy the time on the beach together all day long. We may run over to warm up in the Jacuzzi after a kayak or paddle. We also enjoy the movies in the pool, but we always come back to the beach. We set up shade tents and chairs during the day and have a bon fire at night. The fun, lively atmosphere is AMAZING! Both nights this year there were pretty large parties on the beach. (On either side of our rooms) Once we went in for the night you could not hear anything! Total win! I appreciate the ability for the kids to play, to run around and enjoy cousins and family without feeling like we were a bother or inconvenience. There are definitely quieter areas (NOT in the cove) that we walk thru for sunset pictures but there are rarely beach set ups over there. Anyone looking for more quiet should request those areas! Bedding was clean, beds were soft and welcoming, towels were nice and big! One night I spilled my entire Stanley cup on the bed. We called housekeeping and they responded quickly. The waitresses at the pool side bar are also top notch! Quick, helpful, kind and fast with their service. 7 little kids ordering virgin margaritas didn't phase them! I would have lost my mind lol. I can't say enough about this resort. We were treated so well! Also, there are many little touches that go along way! A few to mention would be the movie nights in the pool with complimentary popcorn. Popsicles for the kids in the pool during the heat of the day. The staff was so kind and lovely, even to rowdy little kids I could go on and on, but I'll just end it with a "I CANNOT WAIT to go back!"

Yelp
We just stayed there 1 night. Visiting S.D. to see granddaughters. Always loved the area and the tropical vibe. The room was a bit outdated. The worst part of this stay was the terrible quality of the bed sheets. They were old and although they were clean, they felt like sandpaper, rough and scratchy. The pillows were very small as well and smelled like onions. Will need to rethink staying here in the future!!!

Yelp
Booked here for a mini staycation for my husband and I so we can freely celebrate a special occasion. The resort itself is beautiful and all staff were very welcoming and courteous. However, the reason for this review is to individually point out one gal that stood out far above the rest: Rebecca! I called the front desk upon arriving to our room, to mention a possible inconvenience that may had occurred if we had stayed in that room (for the children next doors sake ). Rebecca went above and beyond, truly, to accommodate everyone involved. She quickly moved us to a new (and let's not forget to mention immaculate) room, to help us better celebrate our occasion. Even had a gentleman bring us the key to our new room! It's the small gestures that count, which showcase the fine qualities of a human being that create the energy and guest experience at any establishment, after all. Rebecca single handedly helped us have the experience of a lifetime at your resort, through her consideration & understanding. On a side note, we are always exploring different venues for our adventures but I believe we have found our frequent staycation place at Paradise Point! We will definitely be visiting on a monthly basis, booking the same room Rebecca showed us. It was perfect! Rebecca, a big shout out to you for helping us create a magically stunning evening! We hope to be able to meet you in person next time, for a thank you and a smile, face to face! Thanks again, you're amazing!!!

Yelp
I've been staying here since 1998 and had many family vacations here. To see the grounds and the rooms worn out, dirty, and unkempt was heartbreaking. Frankly, they've let the property fall into a tired, unmaintained resort that sparkled and astonished in the past. Sadly, I can't recommend this resort anymore...very disheartened. :(

Yelp
Stayed here for a night while I was on business in San Diego. I really loved this place! It doesn't even feel like you are in SD - it felt more like a tropical paradise away from the bustling city. It's along the water with so many ponds and very lush landscaping. We saw many different types of birds and sea life (small sharks, big fish, stingray, etc.) Room: Stayed in a Bungalow suite with a huge bed, jack n jill bathrooms, and a large living room with patio overlooking the way. Small kitchenette with microwave and mini fridge and Keurig. The room was one of the cleanest rooms I have ever stayed in, and I appreciated they had bluetooth speakers and wireless charges (It's 2023.... don't know why hotels still have these old ones that aren't even compatible!) Service: we ate at the Barefoot bar. I got a plate of nacho and was shocked by how big the plate was. Definitely had leftovers. Service was great. Every single interaction I had with the staff was excellent from the front desk, to the spa, to the golf cart driver, and the little market staff they have on site for snacks or coffee. 100% recommend this place and will stay there again.

Yelp
Spa review: I saw Melody for the fountain of youth facial and it was incredible. She was calming and educational while reviewing my skin and then created a quiet space for relaxation for the rest of the time. It's been 48 hours and my skin feels rich and hydrated. I usually wash my face daily but I haven't wanted to until now. Ran a cotton round with toner before just to see beforehand and it was still completely clean. I tragically left my samples in the provided robe but I've already ordered her recommended products. 10/10!!

Yelp
Good and bad. Great area, fun pools and environment. But the rooms themselves were not very kid friendly, even though they asked us if we had a kid with us. Also, not mentioning that it was $46 PER NIGHT for parking is absolute theft, even though they told us specifically where to park AND there was an open free lot 10 steps away. Would not recommend.

Yelp
I was here as a two day one night work meeting. My perspective for large groups is that it was really perfect, everything was walkable even though sometimes it was a long walk, and we definitely got lost at night after we had a couple cocktails and we are headed back to our room but all the meal options and the area for dining was lovely. The meeting space was lovely with large windows, it was a really inclusive experience and nothing was needed from the outside. We even had a early morning walk which most people went on even though we didn't want to beautiful area!

Yelp
Their website makes this place look so good and high quality "resort and spa" but the rooms are dirty, the locations are not as advertised on the website; rooms are tiny, it flooded last weekend for a lot of people. Being here for a big conference you would think this place is nice for the area it is in. Save your money and stay somewhere else on the bay.

Yelp
Definitely WOULD NOT recommend this "resort" unless you want to party all day and bbq in front of other units where people are staying and Blocking their patio right outside their front door. Do not come here if you want to relax or have a quiet get away . ... and if you want that really, really late CHECK IN . They will make sure to get your room ready 2 hours after check in at 4:00. It is a great place if you book only one room for the night especially one that is on the beach then you can invite 20 or 30 people over and host your parties! There are obviously no rules or limits for on the grass or the walkway in front of your unit (and the beach is public) when staying here soooo... party on!!!! And invite everyone you know!!! Such a sad stay with my family :(

Yelp
A few things. the pillows cases had tiny balls on them, sheets felt thin and worn out. The sofa was sinking through made noises every time you sat/moved on it. The floors were peeling. The tv remote was nasty. the phone was nasty and they did replace the remote. The room smelled like dog urine and they did send housekeeping to freshen up the room and offered a different room. I have been coming since about 2011 and wI'll not be back. They need to upgrade their rooms and prune their beaches.

Yelp
As many times as I've passed this resort, I had never been on the grounds, but was fortunate to stay here when i recently attended a conference here. My experience at the resort was a pleasant one, the thing that most impressed me were the grounds and the planning of the resort. It felt like you stepped into a tropical jungle paradise with so many different flora and fauna and water features. I think I saw about 10 different bird species that each made their own unique noise. Interesting indeed but was a little loud in the early mornings while still trying to sleep. Another note about the creatures, there were quite a few spiders that were in our room and I know it's to be expected in some respect since each bungalow is ground level amidst the jungle. However as someone who has slight arachnophobia, it was a little off-putting. The bungalows themselves were well-kept and clean and loved that each unit had a patio with a table and chairs. I think I had a great location that was right in between 2 of the 5 pools and one of them was adults-only, close to the lobby and a nice lake in front. Parking was also amazing since you park right in front of your unit. Other activities that were enjoyed included Mini golf (lovely little course), beach time & paddleboarding in the cove and eating at barefoot bar & grill (cute outdoor bar area overlooking the water). I did want to eat at Tidal, the other restaurant but it was closed on Sunday nights, Monday & Tuesday. It would have been nice to have it open for more variety and a little more upscale than barefoot bar. As for the conference, the room was well-kept and all AV equipment worked. I was also impressed with the catered food, all above my usual expectations for hotels. I would like to come back during the off-season and possibly stay in a bungalow facing the cove.

Yelp
This is a beautiful resort (soon to be a Margaritaville resort). The facilities were beautiful, the pools were well maintained and the food and beverage services were above par (for the most part). The service from the bell station to the bar staff was always above par. They have a few restaurants on property - they are a bit pricey (given the resort nature) - but the food is of a decent quality. With a $30 resort fee - you'd hope they wouldn't inflate the prices of everything else quite as much - but it was what it was. Huge Kudos for the AC actually being on and cool in my room after I checked in - a rarity! I had two minor complaints. When I got there my room wasn't ready yet (I was early) so I went to the pool bar and ordered a drink and some Chicken Nachos. The Nachos were PRICEY and when they came out - everything was cold - from the cheese to the chicken. I was a bit hangry - so apologies (again) that I was a bit grumpy with the bartender - but I was just disappointed, but hungry. It all tasted fine - but the temps were just slightly off (not in a "concerned about my health" way). The beds/pillows are also fairly miserable. I had a standard queen room, and the bed was fairly hard for my liking and the metal base was creaky. The pillows were Little Rock's of cotton - not very comfortable. I had to build a pillow fort to get some comfort. I'd recommend updating the bedding once Margaritaville takes over. If you come before then - and you drove, toss an extra pillow into your car! I'd 100% stay here again.

Yelp
Great place if you are visiting the resort with children. Otherwise do not waste your money.

Yelp
The location is great. Let's start there. The rest? Not so much. The bed was so broke down in the middle it was like a hammock. The barefoot grill is mediocre AF plus the charge you an extra 6% for the states minimum wage. The pool is nice but when you order a drink you not only get the aforementioned 6% surcharge but they tack on an even larger service charge. Oh and the cove is shut down due to bacteria. 2 nights here for a 1 bedroom suite was over $2k. I think this will be the last time I go here. Oh and don't forget to bring anything. I paid $90 for a pair of Reef flip flops that were $56 on Amazon. Why didn't I give it a 1 star? The staff. Everyone here has been great and I feel for them because I'm sure these surcharges are resulting in smaller tips for them.

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing! The food is fabulous and the service is incredible. The people that work here are so nice. The rooms are so clean. I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Nice hotel with a great property! We spent a week here and the kids loved waking up with ducks in the pond off the back patio. Room was big enough for two adults and two young kids. The swimming pools were great and we spent a few days in them. Just a short walk to a beach with fire pits and watching boats in the bay. Restaurants were ok and convenient. The little market/coffee shop had just about everything we randomly needed, especially beer. Overall good experience and will be the first place we check when returning to San Diego

Yelp
My room was not ready until 5:30 pm. Then an employee backed into my car with her car and damaged it. I asked security to send me the video. Then the hotel tried to cover their ass and did not cooperate saying the Hotel didn't want to have anything to do with it and that they would not cooperate with my claim with the employee. Terrible, awful experience.

Yelp
Had a company Christmas party held in the Main Ballroom here this year. Still feels weird to have it be co-hosted with a sister company, but whatever. As a result, the giant ballroom was packed to the gills. It was a decent party, and I thought the ballroom space was big enough to hold everything and everyone in there. The bathroom near the ballroom was nice and clean. Beyond that, the place was okay. Nothing to write home about.
