"On Galicia’s Monterreal Peninsula, with a commanding view over a port and a protected bay, stands the Parador de Baiona, a medieval fortress that’s been refashioned as a luxurious and atmospheric 122-room hotel. Two restaurants serve upscale traditional Galician fare with a heavy emphasis on locally sourced seafood; not many hotels can offer a walk along two kilometers of fortress walls." - Mark Fedeli

An excellent first stay in a Parador and I would definitely return. Excellent location, accommodation and food. Service in restaurant could be improved. Was a little cold, no warm welcome and waited a long time for a server to take our order. Very simple improvements could make a huge difference. ||Must stress all other staff excellent.

Loved our first visit to a Spanish Parador hotel. Amazing location, elegant environment, and friendly and helpful staff. A memorable way to see Baiona and experience the Galician culture. The views from the bar and terrace are amazing. Ask for specifics about the windows in your room to ensure you get the access you want. Our view was sublime, but only visible when standing directly in front of the window (not from the bed or a chair). Next time, I'll skip the sea view to enjoy it outside instead.

The location and views are breathtaking. The building is large, atmospheric and grand, as was our room.|The shower and tiled bathroom floor were extremely slippery.|Breakfast was excellent and dinner good.|But the man who checked us in at reception was quite cold and seemed to be on automatic pilot as he rattled through his blurb. |It was very annoying not to be able to use the tempting outdoor swimming pool until 10.30 (we had to leave before that).

We stayed in the parador recently and it was beautiful. The castle is stunning, it sits in a little island and the surrounding sea is also beautiful. It feels like you are living in a proper castle which was super cool. The sunsets are lovely. The breakfast is a great selection. They had a massive screen to show the euros as well which I was very pleased about

Going to get all the shortcomings out first. When we arrived, the young woman at the front desk was outright rude. It felt like she was looking to get rid of us rather than assist us. The quality of service throughout our two night stay was mixed and was difficult to get assistance with your bags. On our way to room we passed stained and frayed carpets, marred floors, walls in need of a paint job and even one spot with a sizable hole between the wallboard and the molding. The furniture, cabinets and woodwork in our room were damaged and gouged. The carpet was stained, there was mold in our shower and the shower drain backed up. The tv in our room was a thick LG 30” model which had to be at least 15 years old. The interior and service level at this hotel need to be addressed. |However, this is a beautiful hotel in a gorgeous setting. The fort, the ocean views, the landscaping and surrounding area are wonderful. Sitting outside on the bar terrace overlooking the bay below was just delightful. Francisco in the bar was friendly and helpful. We had a very nice room with a large bathroom and little sitting area. The bath had both a tub and shower stall. Our room was very quiet. Breakfasts are very good (but service can be painfully slow). The location, setting and exterior physical beauty made us glad we stayed here. ||We stayed at two other Paradors in the same week and both were cleaner and had much better service.

Location is amazing but the hotel really isn’t worth the high price. Just go for a walk in the grounds but don’t stay here. The price is extremely high for the quality and service. The only thing you are paying for is the location and the novelty of staying in an old building. Tiny window and not even water in the room. Service poor …. Keep your money for a few nights at a nicer place.

We were very happy with our stay. Although it was very busy there was always a quiet area to relax in. The room, dining room and bar were all most satisfactory. The views were fantastic and lots of walking areas adjacent to the parador.

So the hotel itself is beautiful but weirdly isolated from the surrounding peninsula it is on. There is only one way in and out and older exits are sealed up. Also, the hotel grounds are huge and much of it is in disrepair which seems odd for a high end hotel. The least they could do is pick up the trash. Even better they could restore the ruins on the property and clean up and maintain some of the overgrown garden areas. It really is a shame.
