Great Hotels for Fall Travel in Europe - AFAR

"A singular and romantic hotel located within the Alhambra complex that offers the rare opportunity to explore parts of the monument when crowds have thinned; its terrace overlooks the Generalife Gardens and it is considered the most requested of Spain’s historic parador hotels." - Annie Fitzsimmons

Parador de Granada (Granada, Andalusia) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Another of Spain’s historic Paradores properties, the Parador de Granada is unbeatable when it comes to uniqueness; this 14th-century Moorish palace-turned-convent-turned–luxury hotel is located within the walls of the Alhambra, the fortress that presides over the city of Granada. Needless to say, it’s chock full of historical character, even in the latter-day addition, and the facilities are quite up to date. There’s plenty of outdoor space to discover, all of it steeped in the same storied atmosphere, and the hotel’s upscale Andalusian restaurant is there to end the day on the perfect note." - Tablet Hotels

Parador de Granada | Best places to stay in Granada, Andalusia

"There are 93 paradors in Spain, but this is the most requested of them all. Located on the grounds of the Alhambra, it occupies a late 15th-century monastery built by Granada’s conquerors, Ferdinand and Isabella, built over a Nasrid palace. The parador is chock-full of original features: the cloister-patio, pebble courtyards, arches, dark wood and iron work, beams and rose-tinted bricks, and there’s even one room from the lost palace. Guests are free to wander the grounds of the Alhambra after dark, especially romantic on a moonlit or starry night. The friendly professional staff, great breakfast and wonderful views all contribute to a pricy but unforgettable way to experience Granada and its ineffably beautiful star attraction. We chose to stay here so we could be near the Alhambra. The hotel was nice but I expected it to have a bit more of a historical feel. There seemed to be two sections. The newer section interior was a rather cold and uninteresting modern design. (lobby and dining areas.) The original portion of the parador had much more character with some antiques scattered about. The dining areas were particularly disappointing because they looked like a cafeteria and not a restaurant. More could have been done to keep them in character of the historic nature of the place. The front desk staff was very helpful (especially Felix in guiding us to getting last minute tickets to the Nasrid Palace) Warning: Three weeks ahead of your visit is not enough time to secure tickets. The dinner was quite good in the restaurant but the ambiance lacking. Breakfast was OK. Food was not replenished in a timely fashion and selection/quality of items was much better in other hotels that we stayed in during our two week trip to Spain. Rooms were quite costly for the quality but your are paying for the convenience of being so close to the palace and it was helpful for us given the timing of our entrance tickets.

In the middle of the Alhambra, there is a refuge and it is the parador. We had a great stay, nice room, good food, friendly people. If you want to have a guided tour through the Alhambra, booking via the parador website means that the guide will pick you up. It is a nice walk to the entrance with already information on the Alhambra

The location, set within the grounds of the Alhambra, is of course is exquisite and a delightful tranquil spot away from the tour parties but close up to the palace and gardens. ||What makes this parador even better is the friendly and proactive attention of all the staff. The quality of service from terrace bar, reception and restaurant was excellent. ||A few notes. Watch the you tube video on how to get your car to the car park. Book the Alhambra tickets separately, especially palace and gardens as these are separate to parador and sell out. Finally, walk into Granada, enjoy the cafe culture and cathedral. ||Well done Parador team

Great food and red wine! However the service could be better - the lead server was somewhat cold in the beginning. And I asked for tab water specifically, they gave me filtered ones without telling me. (I asked them afterwards because the bottle looked off and made it awkward) I ordered the food I wanted and was not cheap in my selection. But I didn’t appreciate this type of unsolicited practice to secretly inflate my bill. In my communications I was VERY clear about what I wanted.

We stayed at the Parador de Granada in May 2025 and it was absolutely unforgettable. The hotel itself is a stunning 15th-century former convent set right inside the Alhambra walls—a dream location!||We decided to upgrade our room, and it was worth every penny. From our window we enjoyed gorgeous, picture-perfect views of the Generalife gardens—morning coffee and evening sunsets felt like pure magic. 🌸🌄||Arriving by car was easier than expected. We paid to park on-site, which I highly recommend—it’s convenient and well worth the fee. The video the hotel sent in advance explaining how to drive in and reach the parking area was extremely helpful, making the arrival stress-free. 🚗👌||The staff were warm and professional, the hotel and rooms beautifully maintained, and the combination of history and comfort made the whole experience special. The peaceful cloistered courtyards and the on-site restaurant (with its lovely terrace) added to the charm.||Staying here allowed us to explore the Alhambra early and late, when it’s most tranquil—something you simply can’t do from outside the complex.||Highly recommended for anyone seeking history, elegance, and unforgettable views in Granada. We can’t wait to return!

It was very expensive compared to other paradors. I stayed a basic room which was not a good choice. Room decor is very modern and not very attractive views. It was clean and well maintained though. And the diner time starts 8:15pm, so if you need to eat before, you need to take a taxi or long walk to eat out. There’s no restaurant nearby. I think other paradors would be a better choice to feel time and history.

Ate at the cafeteria during my visit to Alhambra, cannot comment on the hotel. The cafeteria is fine but quite pricey. Paid 15 EUR for a tiny portion of tortilla de patata and a shot of salmorejo, which is quite overpriced!! Rest of the dishes were ok but still very expensive so what it was.

Lunch on the terrace, brilliant. Picked a sunny table after a short wait. The food was excellent as was the service even though it looked understaffed. We really enjoyed a relaxed meal during a busy day at the Alhambra.
