Parador de Leon | Best places to stay in Leon

"This is your chance to sleep in one of Spain’s finest Renaissance buildings, famous for its lavishly sculpted Plateresque façade. Founded in the 12th century to house pilgrims, and rebuilt in the 16th century for the knights of Santiago, the parador reopened in December 2020 after a lengthy restoration. Today it deftly combines contemporary furnishings and art with original, traditional and antique pieces. There’s a superb restaurant, gorgeous cloister and grand staircase. It’s atmospheric, arty and cosy and the place to stay in Leon if your budget stretches this far. The parador is very peaceful, set back on a large square next to a church, overlooking the river Bernesga. Modern low-rise buildings around the Plaza San Marcos house a mix of residential, offices and shops with a fair amount of traffic, although you won’t hear it in the hotel. It’s a five-minute walk from the train station; Leon’s spectacular cathedral is an 18-minute walk away. " - Dana Facaros

One of my favorites. Loved the art collections, gorgeous building with a lengthy and interesting history. Room was everything you expect in modern luxury. Understated and very comfortable. I should have booked more days. Restaurant and bar were great. Really enjoyed dinner and the local specialties. What always makes a great hotel is the staff. Without warm welcoming, attentive staff no hotel in any class can get 5 stars from me. I would give the staff here extra stars. Every member I interacted with was exceptionally nice and very competent. I loved my stay. Gracias.

This is one of the best Paradors in Spain. located in a magnificent former monastery in the centre of the city. Opinions is divided on whether the ambiance following its major refurbishment is an improvement but the rooms are large and sumptuously furnished. The bathrooms have separate overhead and walk-in showers. The cuisine is is at the highest level, as it has always been. There is secure parking (at a charge).

This is a wonderful Parador, showcasing Spanish history, design, art and craftsmanship. The mix of original architecture and features with modern design and facilities was superb. Food and drink were exceptional and service impeccable. And good value for money

he Parador is elegant and worthy of its stars. From the moment you enter this Parador, you experience a sense of calm and relaxation created by the exceptional staff and the beautiful decor. I was impressed by the friendliness of the front desk staff, we arrived. We had stayed at the Parador last year and enjoyed our stay so we decided to stay at the hotel again during our trip through the Galicia region. When we entered our room there was a handwritten personal note, a bottles of water and delicious treats. This Parador makes its clients feel special simply by the fabulous service they provide. I would like to thank Oscar and Marcelo for making our stay a special one. We loved staying at this stylish Parador. Our room was modern and sophisticated with dark wood ascents that helped create a relaxing environment. The bathroom with its modern amenities was spacious and had a wonderful rain shower. Our room provided the perfect respite after a day of visiting museums, shopping, and sightseeing. This is one Parador that is a must to stay at if you are going to visi Leon. You will not be disappointed.

Incredible building, feels like a real castle. A very special experience. The rooms are a bit dated though, and could use a renovation for the price you pay. Service is fine, but can be slow. It's beautiful for photos and to experience history, just don't expect modern luxury in the room. Good for a short visit.

The buildings and furnishings are 5 star all the way but sadly the staff and breakfast are 1 star all of the way . |Room was very spacious and nice use of natural materials . |The check in was one of the worst ever. No welcome , smile or eye contact , no information just went through the motions .|Breakfast utter chaos , tables full of crockery , we had to wait despite there only being 8 people having breakfast only 10% full . Very poorly service and hot food was dire . Potato Tortilla was horrendous and I can vision the chef taking it out of the plastic and popping it in the|Microwave . Trolleys left next to tables with food scrapings and dirty dishes .|We were going to eat dinner but chose not to after our breakfast experience .|Whilst it’s a great building the rest is so poor I would give it a miss

We booked a two night stay to celebrate the completion of our Camino. Huge mistake. We were given a room facing the Plaza and it is impossible to sleep because of the partying happening. The windows are of very poor quality. We stayed in much less expensive hotels while on the Camino with excellent noise insulation. There is no sleep tonight for us at all. It is currently 2:30 am and there is no letting up of the music and yelling into microphones. Even with the AC fan running and earplugs, the horrendous noise prevents sleep. It is extremely loud. If you are given a room overlooking the plaza, absolutely refuse it if you want any sleep at all. Request a room on the other side. Very nice room, but without sleep it becomes a very bad one and a very pricey one at that. Unfortunately review videos do not include sound or I would share the noise fest party happening in our room. Edit after next night: We were moved for the following night and had a lovely, quiet room in the back of the hotel. We understand that “city noise” happens but in a 5* hotel, the windows should be of a quality that reduces it as much as possible. That is not the case with the rooms facing the front plaza.

We travelled with a group of 30+ on a driving hotel and stayed for 2 nights on a dinner bed and breakfast basis||The building is truly amazing and one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. Our room was huge and could not be faulted. Great parking at the rear of the hotel was helpful. ||However in common with the other paradores we stayed in (6 in total) the service and food did not fully live up to the quality of the accommodation. The food was really only OK and service had a few lapses. Drinks service in the bar was torturous primarily down to the weak/poor till system!!||Overall a very pleasant stay but maybe better to skip the food and drink and go into lovely León to eat and drink instead

Yelp
For From The Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler fans, this Night at the Museum is an absolute delight. The hotel's history is long and complex, spanning about nine hundred years, with highlights including a stint as the Royal Cemetery and a concentration camp during the Spanish Civil War. There are plaques throughout the hotel, as is appropriate for a major historical landmark. My room was large, well-appointed, came with chocolate and looked out over a beautiful garden maze. The restaurant is highly regarded and looks like something out of Beauty and the Beast, although I found the food somewhat oversalted. Breakfast is appropriately high quality and offers a huge range of options. Including kiwi juice. I've never been offered kiwi juice before. The bar is located in a spacious room with massively high barrel-vaulted ceilings, and after a drink or two you can go across the hall and sit in almost perfect isolation in the former cloiser refectory under a truly stunning 16th century carved ceiling. There was a wedding going on while I was there. It is a dream location for such an event and the wedding party seemed to be having a fantastic time. Returning for more than a one-night stay will be a goal of mine!

Yelp
Very nice Hotel, bridges the gap between being antique and comfortable very well. Although some of the installations could be replaced by now to a more modern standard, it is still a good place to stay. One of the most interesting and historical Hotels I've seen so far. Breakfast is fabulous.

Yelp
This is a beautiful hotel in the city of Leon that has been used for many ventures through the centuries. The building has been a monastery, a jail, a school, and is now a hotel. The service is courteous, and the food is delicious. The price is also very good for the value offered. I definitely recommend this hotel for tourists from all over the world. Leon is a true gem in Spain for people who visit. It's cathedral and pedestrian streets are wonderful.
