The 24 Essential Restaurants in Salvador, Brazil

"Chef Beto Pimentel earned a reputation three decades ago as a trailblazer taking cozinha Baiana to a higher gastronomic level, winning Paraíso Tropical fame and awards along the way. Today he continues to merge local seafood with Brazilian fruits and native herbs, many grown in his own garden, and his skills are evident in signature dishes such as dandá de camarão (a yucca stew with shrimp, Brazil nuts, and coconut milk) and rice with peguari (fighting conch) with herbs, coconut slices, licuri palm, and Brazilian cherry. Update: February 27, 2024: Paraíso Tropical is temporarily closed for renovations." - Rafael Tonon

Amazing food and dining experience! Some of the best service I’ve had in Brazil, all the staff were gentlemen and I really appreciated the singing 😉 Definitely get the moqueca and some juices!!! The fruits at the end are also delicious!

Amazing food. Flavors are just perfect. It is a little expensive though. You can find cheaper places in Bahía.

Excellent food. Very taste! The chef is an amazing poet. A interesting place.

If you're looking to savour the best of Bahia's culinary excellence, this is the place to go. It serves some of the best 'Moquecas' and natural fruit juices I've ever had the pleasure of trying. All their natural juices are picked from the Chef's garden, just below the restaurant. The highlight of the experience is when you are served a wide variety of fruit also picked straight from the Chef's garden. If you're in Salvador, you don't want to miss this place.

Excellent surprise! A hidden jewel of a restaurant I only came to visit because of the good Portuguese and English reviews. But the food variety and quality completely excelled my expectations.

Great food and nice touch that the owner comes and says hello. The only thing missing is excellent service which remembers things we actually ordered.

Yelp
Best Bahia's food in town Beto knows hot to make regional food with fresh elements in an exotic way. Every out of town looking for a Bahia's food has to go there.

Yelp
Great place to go for some seafood. Would definitely come back. Liked the tropical setting. Soft shell crab, moquece (spelling? ), grilled food platter with some very tasty and unusual (for Americans) fruits on the side. Try the BiriBiri Caipirinha for a change.
