"San Diego’s Parakeet Cafè opened its first OC location in the upscale Crystal Cove Shopping Center. Owners Carol and Jonathan Goldwasser were inspired to develop a nutritious menu after their daughter underwent chemotherapy. The mostly vegetarian menu features golden goddess salads, avocado toasts, and macrobiotic bowls, leaving room for a few meat dishes including grass-fed Australian beef burgers and soft scrambled egg croissant sandwiches. The pastry case and coffee bar serve grab-and-go items. Don’t miss the chocolate banana croissants." - Jenn Tanaka

I recently visited this adorable cafe in Newport Beach, and it was truly a delightful experience. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxing brunch or coffee date. The food was absolutely amazing — everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The menu offered a great variety of options, including some unique breakfast and lunch dishes that I haven’t seen elsewhere. The pastries and coffee were top-notch, making it clear that quality ingredients and care go into each dish. What really stood out, though, was the staff. They were attentive, friendly, and on point with their service — genuinely making sure every need was met without being intrusive. It’s the kind of place where you feel cared for and appreciated. Overall, this cafe is a must-visit spot in Newport Beach if you're looking for great food, a cozy vibe, and excellent service. I’ll definitely be returning soon!

I was so happy to discover Parakeet Cafe in Newport Beach last month & now I only wish I lived closer. There are many coffees I wish to try. All organic, house made nut milks, vegan options, gf options and refined sugar free = Omg thank you for serving real, nutritional foods that taste very good & are not overly sweet! I'm obsessed with their shortbread cookie & though I purchased 3 I wish I'd bought even more! 😋💕 Manager Mari Brown was so friendly, answered all of my questions with kindness and appreciation, and it was overall a joy to eat there. I will be back!! Cute cafe and lovely atmosphere outside where I sat in the sunshine with way too many treats. 😋 Their to-go cups are the cutest. Also, liked their croissants and my savory breakfast. All organic and healthy foods.

Google
I would definitely come back!!!! Their hot salted maple latte with pistachio milk was AMAZING! I also had their mushroom toast with avocado, and it was absolutely delicious (huge too). I totally forgot to take the picture as I was too excited to try it. If you’re in the vicinity, definitely worth stopping by to have breakfast/lunch or just a cup of coffee.

Google
Parakeet is a charming little coffee spot nestled in Crystal Cove. The café offers great service and a solid selection of breakfast items and a well-rounded coffee menu. I tried one of their signature latte and an almond croissant—both were enjoyable, though not particularly memorable. Still, it’s a cozy place with a relaxed vibe, and worth a visit if you’re nearby and looking for a casual coffee break.

Parakeet Café never disappoints! The quality of their food, pastries, and coffee is consistently amazing. Everything is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The vibe is always welcoming and relaxed—perfect for catching up with friends or getting a little work done. Their customer service is also excellent. Definitely one of my favorite spots!

Why haven’t I been here before? I will be returning forever! This place was amazing and SUCH a vibe! 😎 We ordered: Power bowl (very flavorful and fresh!) Breakfast burrito (very good, small portion and a little cheesy) All I avo wanted (this was the best dish out of all of them!) Cappuccino chai latte (good, but not sweet enough) black drip banana oat muffin (good, but think other options would be better) Everything on the menu looked great and service was unmatched. Very attentive and kind. 10/10!!

Google
My wife and I recently found this spot a few months back and truly enjoyed each time we have gone. The food is always so quick to come out from the servers, who are also always so kind and attentive! They are always making sure we have everything and if we need anything at all. We typically get the same orders and have tried quite a few things, but our go-to's have been the scrambled green eggs and the chicken burger. Paired with a matcha latte and a vanilla chai latte as well. Matcha and chai are awesome, have some great flavors, and are not too sweet or overpowering either. The scrambled green eggs with the green salsa add some great flavor and tartness! The sourdough with spread is the BEST. The chicken burger and Cesar salad are also some great options with great flavor! The Cesar salad has a great amount of dressing and not too much either. The burger bun has a nice little crisp to it! Brown sugar chocolate chip cookie - just get it. It's a bomb! Definitely recommend it as a great breakfast and brunch spot with an absolutely beautiful view of Crystal Cove and the beach.

Google
First time but love the ambience. The staff was very kind. The coffee and the almond croissant were a good couple in this place . My kids had other food from different store and we had our food from Parakeet coffee, we all found a table, sat together on Sunday morning,

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful cafe! Service is amazing, food delicious and the view is the icing on the cake. I could eat the acai bowl everyday if I could. Staff is very attentive and customer oriented even when they are busy. It's a definite must try if you haven't been!

Rachel W.

Yelp
I love Parakeet cafe! Mari and her staff are always so friendly and welcoming and really make you feel at home. Special shout out to Megan, Isabella, Damian, Mariano, Vlad, Sebastian, Pasha, and anyone else I missed!

Jocelyn ..

Yelp
Fresh food but overpriced for the portion and the ambiance. Pastries were good. Coffee drinks were watered down.

Michelle K.

Yelp
It's been weeks and I'm still obsessed with the All I AVO Wanted breakfast! It had a delicious, fresh blue corn waffle with avocado and I added an extra egg on top for extra protein! This is the breakfast of my dreams! Great selection of fresh pastries and fresh juices in the morning - They sell out of the good stuff around lunchtime. Excellent coffee, tea and other items from the barista! Go check out the Blue Waffle! You won't be disappointed.

Nikki G.

Yelp
Wanted to love this place we really need a good spot in crystal cove for food but everything we ordered was super bland and not salted at all. We kept saying where is the flavor! I think they really need to try the food before it goes out. I hope they improve the flavors of the food as what we had wasn't very good. I will say the people here are really kind and the service is good the review is solely for the food. Vegan Tortilla soup : 6.5/10 Just ok but wouldn't order again Vegan Avocado Toast : 6/10 Very bland Side order of potatoes : X Undercooked, no seasoning, no salt

Yelp
Such a cute cafe! Would have loved to spent more time here but had to take my food on the road. If I lived closer, I would definitely work from here. There is plenty of seating (indoor and outdoor). While there, the staff were very kind and friendly. Now let me tell you about this Surfer Burrito...WOW! I wish more places put broccoli in their burritos because this was fantastic. I got my burrito fill while also getting veggies in - best of both worlds. The flavor was awesome and the portion was huge. I saved half the burrito for lunch and was full until dinner. I stopped by after a 5K race at Crystal Cove and I'm so happy I did!

Yelp
First time for us visiting this new cafe in the crystal cove shopping center. This cafe is right next to bear flag that is very popular. We went there around 1 on 4th of July and the place was bustling. Ordered the breakfast burritos ($16) and their grain bowl that comes with farro quinoa sweet potatoes kale and cucumber. Both were very tasty. The breakfast burritos has labneh in it which makes it very moist and soft. Very tasty. The grain bowl was also put together nicely and tasted good. We had a great service up front with Pasha and also the other server was super nice and happy. We sat outside that on a sunny day with a nice ocean breeze makes it feel like life can't get any better.

Yelp
We visited Parakeet Cafe on Saturday afternoon. The reason we stayed there is because the desserts looked so attractive to me. So, I just walked inside and ordered their Zucchini Bread (gluten-free) and Blueberry Croissant (gluten-free) with a Cappuccino ($5.5). They were so yummy and also felt healthy. Parakeet Cafe has a very open spacing with a high ceiling, which makes you feel very comfortable and relaxed to sit there. After my afternoon tea time, I decided to stay a little longer for dinner since they offer dinner as well. We ordered the Best Burger Ever ($23), which was so delicious. The owner was so nice; she provided us with a complementary cup of wine to pair. She is right, it made it even better with wine! You must order this. The Chicken Caesar Wrap ($20) was also very good and healthy. The Chicken Noodle Soup ($12) was good; the noodles inside were long, like some of the noodles you find in Chinese restaurants, which was very special. We really enjoyed our time at Parakeet Cafe. They close at 7 pm, and we actually stayed there the whole afternoon and didn't even realize it was their closing time. We will definitely recommend this place to our friends

Yelp
Great service, some food awesome, and nice atmosphere. The person who took are order was very sweet, friendly and thorough. All the items ordered came out pretty fast and a bit out of order, so if you are not in a hurry, order in shifts, LOL. The truffle scramble cooled way too fast, not sure it was hot to begin with. The chilaquiles verde sauce was horrible. Way too vinegary. The chips they had were awesome, but ruined from the sauce. Everything else was good. I would try it again, but definitely order in shifts.

Rob C.

Yelp
Food is good and some spin to it. Must be healthy. But in this case, good. They serve up coffee with medium to dark roast from Guatemala and a couple more places. They do have their own roastery so this can only spell coffee quality? I had the salted caramel latte and it was good and smooth. Service - they are on top of things here. Fast and friendly. Ambiance - loaded with folks especially around the breakfast and lunch brunch time. Decent amount of seating indoors and some more outdoors.

Archie S.

Yelp
The elements that give this a high ratings are all checked out like location, ambiance, service and quality/taste of the items. Parakeet has a lunch cafe style menu where you have the options of sandwiches, pastries and items like that. But definitely come for their caffeinated drinks first! I had the Lavender Latte and Mushroom Cacao Chai. They were both delicious and the Mushroom Chai had a nice strong spice to it with the earthy tones from the mushroom itself. For a snack I got their Mushroom Toast and it was drizzled with truffle oil. The cheese, truffle and mushroom combination is a hard one to pass but this was pretty good too. As a little dessert I tried their last Almond Croissant, and yes that was really good too! You have the option of having indoor seating or heated outdoor area. The weather is usually great in Newport Coast so I always chose to sit outside.

Jeanette L.

Yelp
I love Parakeet Café. The menu/food is fresh and healthy (lots of vegetarian options and several vegan as well), the staff is always nice, it's well decorated, and the restaurant has a casual, beachy vibe. I took the women in my family there for the first time yesterday, and they were all delighted by the experience. I almost always get the shakshuka (love it!). My family ordered the waffle, the Brekkie croissant sandwich and a vegan coconut yogurt bowl, along with coffee and Matcha drinks that they really enjoyed.

Yelp
I know it's still early, but I wouldn't be surprised if Parakeet Cafe was one of my favorite meals of 2024. I visited for the first time this past weekend for a girls brunch after exploring a nearby Farmers Market. Both Parakeet Cafe and Bear Flag typically have lines out the door on the weekend, so we got lucky finding a table available on their outdoor patio. Their menu has endless options, so I asked one of their team members for recommendations. She pointed me in the best direction with a Parakeet Bowl and the Maple Latte with oat milk. The Parakeet Bowl was half rice and half kale with a miso sauce (still drooling over this) and sides of carrot, mushrooms, and pickled veggies. I've been on a health kick lately and am so excited to recreate this meal at home. The prices are a bit high ($17-18 per meal) but there were enough left overs for a round two. Definitely a splurge outing though! Their drink menu was pretty extensive with alcohol, coffee, tea, and matcha options. The Maple latte was on the sweeter side, but had just enough espresso to start off the afternoon strong. The interior of the restaurant is absolutely adorable. It gives off total feminine energy and is the perfect Orange County staple with an ocean view from the patio.

Emily A.

Yelp
This place is such a treat! Didn't even mean to stop but it's so cute I had to order an almond croissant, but it was BOGO after 6pm so I sent it for a carrot cake muffin as well. Delicious London Fog with lavender. And a green juice to go. Super sweet, sincere staff. Stacey and Damien were making me feel like the Main Character. Not a coffee drinker but I will definitely be back for all of this goodness!

Holly S.

Yelp
The most friendliest service in Crystal Cove. Spacious, clean and filled with positive energy. Delicious food.

Danni O.

Yelp
Parakeet Cafe is a very aesthetic brunch spot with lots of vegetarian options. Wasn't too busy on a rainy weekend so I didn't have to wait to be seated. This is the fanciest fast casual spot I've ever been to. You order/pay your meal, find your own seating, and then the servers will bring out your dishes. I had the grilled chicken sandwich with potatoes and the actual potatoes were the tastiest - grilled chicken was too dry. Also had the mushroom avocado toast which was loaded and delish, and a chocolate croissant which was just okay - would've been awesome if they could have heated it up for me as it was cold. Was it worth $70 for two dishes and a croissant? Not for me.

Karen D.

Yelp
Enjoyed Sunday brunch with friends last Sunday at Parakeet Cafe. They were busy, we finally found a table outside to enjoy the beautiful sunshine. There's so much healthy food to choose from on the menu. I went with the greens scrambled eggs, a friend went with the burger and another friend with the avocado toast. I also enjoyed their pink lemonade and a chocolate chunk cookie. Everything was great and would return again as it was so hard to pick just one item, as there was so much to choose from, I will be back when in the OC again.

Anya R.

Yelp
Delicious lattes and pastries, lovely ambiance especially sitting outside! $17 Avocado toast was inedible - beets were too bitter, had some crunchy spices that were deteriorating teeth, radishes that were inedible. Incredibly disappointing. Chicken noodle soup was also just plain not yummy / pretty bland. Salmon toast was delicious! Given that our light "bites" were $75 (pre tip) for 2 adult meals and 1 kid soup, I would expect a better success rate with regard to flavors of the meals itself. Employees are quite friendly and welcoming!

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
Came here to try its pastry and had the chocolate pie. It was delicious! But for $12 I'll come back for something else. The cafe looks chic with bright pastel colors and one wall was painted with pretty giant parakeets! The service was friendly.

Teagan T.

Yelp
Thank you for this cafe Jonathan! We are thrilled to have be in the area and fortunate enough to try your delicious and extremely healthy breakfast/lunch and not to mention the free cookie!! You were just being cool to be awesome. Not even trying and you already reeled us in. The menu is.. just amazing. I wanted to try so many things I couldn't decide what. And when that happens I get extremely tongue tied and flustered like I'm going to ask Bobby Fischer to the school dance-- or whoever your Bobby is. Of all the avocado toast options, don't know why I'm on this weird avocado toast quest or who sent me on it, but damnit if I don't want to eat them all! And man, Parakeet you have done the beautiful to the majestic! Those gorgeous beet spirals and the incredible dressing g just flew this dish over the top. It is.. I'm not going to lie, a messy eat, but so good. Very fresh and all the micro greens and radish you want with slightly citrusy avocado. The line is always out the door and Jonathan always have a great smile on his face taking your order. We can't wait to be back and try 30 things in one sitting. I can't remember the bowl name but you can't go wrong ordering anything. And when I'm doubt, ask!

Melissa H.

Yelp
Such a cute restaurant! We always go to Bear Flag next door, but they were closed for the holiday. The place was pretty busy when we stopped by at 1pm. It's a seat yourself place where you order then they bring you your food. Our cashier was really patient/helpful - since it was our first time and my brother is a big meat eater, we had some follow-up questions on the menu. + Latte: so yummy!! + Food in order of deliciousness: ++ Burger ++ Mushroom Toast ++ Breakfast Burrito ++ Shakshuka My Shakshuka came with some toast that was a bit burnt, but switched it out quickly once I let them know.

Lisa A.

Yelp
We usually hike at El Moro and are looking for a quick bite to eat afterwards. There is only a few options but this is a great addition. Parking is easy as it's in a large shopping center. The food is prepared to order and delivered to your table. There is plenty of seating and the staff makes a point of cleaning off the tables quickly. We sat outside since it was a beautiful sunny day. They have large umbrellas if you want shade. The pear tart was 6/5. It has a raspberry flavored marzipan center. It was yummy!! The banana chocolate croissant was very good as well. We ordered a salad and the omelette sandwich. They were both very good. We will be returning after another hike. There was a line but it moved quickly. Another nice feature is serve yourself ice water. I highly recommend dropping in on this gem of a place.

Enna J.

Yelp
We went right before closing for an after dinner dessert. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. It's a cute vibe. Booth seating. Quiet so you're able to have a relaxed conversation and/or do some work/studying. The pastries were DELICIOUS! We tried the oatmeal and the vegan chocolate cookies. Both were devine. Coffee hit the spot as well. They also serve a variety of teas, fresh cold press juices, wellness gels and healthy food options.

Sandy Z.

Yelp
The food here comes out like a work of art - everything was delicious and fresh! The matcha latte with lavender was good, and they have really unique takes on toast here. Will be coming back to try other dishes sometime :) The service is also super nice and friendly!! So incredibly helpful and willing to explain the menu and give recommendations or make adjustments. The ambience in the cafe is also very aesthetic.

Jordan S.

Yelp
I love iced matcha lattes so I came to this place since they have good reviews. I got a normal iced matcha latte with almond milk ($7) and also got one of their seasonal drinks (iced coconut cream salted maple matcha latte $10). They were both so yummy! The parking does get a little tough around certain times but I found parking. The place was so cute inside. They have a little display case when you walk in showing all of the bakery items and they also have merch. The brown Butter cookie and vegan dark chocolate cookie were so yummy I recommend them. The iced matcha latte has no artificial sweetener in it. They do ask if you want your almond milk sweetened or unsweetened (if you get almond milk). The only sweetener they use is honey or agave. The whole latte itself was a little bitter and nutty since I got almond milk. I did enjoy the bitter taste but if you liked sweeter matcha lattes maybe you can try asking them to sweeten it more. The other drink I got was super tasty as well. If you like matcha and coconut definitely try it out! It does cost $10 which is very pricey but it is worth the try! For breakfast, out of all of the things I got, the açaí bowl was the best. It is made fresh everyday and you can tell. I loved it so much. It is one of the best açaí bowls I've had in awhile. The avocado toast was good too but I didn't enjoy the crispy beets on the top. There were too much. The beet cured salmon meal was also yummy but very filling!!

Yelp
I recently discovered this place on Yelp when looking up some healthier eats for myself and my wife and boy, am I ever glad we decided to make the long trek over to Newport Beach to check them out. They are located in a large center off a very busy street but parking was still a bit of a challenge, and all depends on timing, but we managed to get a spot nearby fairly quickly, even on a weekend. I will be the first to admit that I am not a huge connoisseur of healthy food (its something I am trying to get used to and incorporate more into my diet), so a lot of the ingredients took me aback a bit, and I did have to look up some of them to see what they were. After a bit of perusal ahead of time and again at the shop itself, I decided to go with the Shakshuka while my wife opted for the green scrambled eggs. Both dishes had excellent flavor, great color, and tasted fresh and were everything I could have hoped for. The Shaksuka consisted of 2 poached eggs, spiced chunky tomato sauce, labneh, feta, and grilled bread. The flavors were on point, and everything worked well together, and I highly recommend this dish. The green scrambled eggs consisted of scrambled eggs with spinach, asparagus, green beans, avocado, labneh, toast, and salsa Verde. My wife seems seemed to enjoy the dish as well. They also have some amazing looking berry toast and pastry options as well that I will definitely be back for on a future visit. The restaurant consists of a very vibrant decor with a minimalist style and a fairly large outdoor courtyard to sit as well. The place was very busy and does seem extremely popular during peak hours, so you have been warned. We finished off our meals with a couple of Arnold Palmers to drink and in all spent about $55 after tip. This was a great meal and a terrific first impression. I enjoyed my meal immensely and hope to get back here for another visit sometime real soon to delve into more of the menu. If you want something fresh, healthy, and a bit different, then this is a place you should check out. With a diverse menu, friendly service, and fairly affordable pricing, they truly stand out and offer something for everyone

Rm L.

Yelp
Love this place as I am gluten free, dairy free & sugar free! They even have pastries with no sugar added! This was my 2nd time at this location in 24hrs. We came down from LA for a wedding & I got the Macrobiotic Bowl with Grilled Salmon both times. This bowl is delicious, filling, warm & gf/sf/df. Picked up an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie too this second time once I looked at the pastry ingredients more. The staff is also really helpful and amazing service, the manager, was so helpful when I ordered a cold bowl by mistake, she helped me to order this warm bowl & really went above and beyond to help. Thank you!!! I look forward to stopping by the Brentwood location in LA

Yelp
Charcoal waffle 7.27/10- this waffle was pretty good- it wasn't super sweet due to the activated charcoal but it had lots of flavor and was decadent. The whipped cream is actually date coconut cream- which was super interesting but I wasn't a fan of the extreme coconut taste. The granola made it have a nutty taste but was really good and housemade. They also drizzle the waffle with housemade Nutella. The syrup was housemade too I believe and had a strong taste of dates Eggs & Salmon 8.42/10- the smoked salmon is beet-cured giving it a more red coloring which is pretty cool, also very fresh. The portion of the salmon tho is a bit small. The toast has labneh on it which is so good and the best complement for the eggs and salmon + super fresh. The asparagus was roasted in garlic I believe giving it lots of flavor. Power bowl 8.03/10- 2 eggs with labneh, roasted cauliflower, mushrooms, potatoes, tomatoes, and collard greens. Really good and filling, super balanced bowl. The spicy labneh made the dish really decadent. Iced Matcha Latte w/ a Twist 3.67/10- tbh was not a fan, extremely bitter. Matcha, blue spiralina, honey, and house-made almond milk. The almond milk made the entire drink very nutty, and it had more of a bitter almond taste to it than matcha Mushroom cacao chai 7.86/10- this was so good, made with mushroom blend, collagen, chai, coconut blossom cacao (low glycenic) and oat milk. Tasted like a light chocolate chai. Perfectly balanced sweetness level, and really refreshing A popular brunch spot in San Diego that just opened in crystal cove center in Newport Beach. Has a lot of healthy/vegan/ and gluten free options. I really liked the interior as they had a cool mosaic, and it's very clean inside. Would probably come back for their wellness lattes.

Vanessa P.

Yelp
I have been to this cafe twice and only ordered the hot moon milk latte with almond milk. I loved the taste and it was the perfect temperature. The cafe is super cute with very nice and helpful staff. My sister tried the iced matcha latte with almond milk and loved it. The cafe is very busy but the orders come out fast, I will definitely return!

Emily R.

Yelp
My husband and I come here on a daily basis for breakfast, they have some other best service I have ever experienced, amazing vibe, really unique dishes that are made to perfection. Everything comes out fast and they have such a great selection of healthy options that are made with great ingredients. I'm also pretty sure that they don't use Seed Oils which is awesome!

Thuyvu P.

Yelp
Such a cute little brunch spot! Lots of healthy options hereI went with my hubby and some friends- party of 4 around 9:30 am. You order food first and then get your seating. We didn't have any issues finding a spot to sit. EATS Truffle Scrambled Toast- $21 is a bit steep but at least they pack it on, eggs, mushroom, goat cheese and truffle - this was really delicious and hit the spot! The grilled chicken sandwich- my husband got this one and I got a few bites in, tasty but sadly the chicken dry... you get a choice of potatoes or salad on the side, we chose potatoes and they were nice and crispy Chocolate Croissant- good but would have been better if they it warm, chocolate was hard when you but into it. Overall decent experience... I'm here for their great plating and the cute aesthetic of the restaurant. But world I drive out of my way to come here? Probably not.

Joanne M.

Yelp
Visited here on a busy Memorial Day holiday weekend. The food and coffee drinks are outstanding! I had the tortilla soup with added chicken, side of toast, mushroom cacao chai latte. Everything was flavorful and delicious. I sat on the outdoor patio and our server, Stacy, was very friendly and attentive to our requests. Definitely recommend this cafe for the food, service and ambiance.

Purbali S.

Yelp
Stopped by on Sunday evening after having dinner at bear flag next door. Super cute ambiance and decor. Also have really cute merchandise. Got the espresso mocktail, cappuccino and a hot chocolate. All 3 drinks were perfect. Also got the banana oat muffins which were gluten free and tasted amazing. Honestly one of the best muffins I've had and not exaggerating. Everyone working was extremely friendly and made the experience. We had complimented the barista on his uniform shirt and told them they should include that in the merchandise options. The manager happened to be in and she was so sweet and said I think i have a few in the back. We got lucky and were able to purchase one ! It's a very nice polo with the signature pink parkeet on it. Manager was so so sweet and we really enjoyed chatting with her. We will be back to try out their tapas menu and more drinks ! If you are in the crystal cove shopping center definitely worth stopping by for a pastry, coffee or snack !

Miss M.

Yelp
What I ordered was fresh and delicious.. service was great staff was friendly. Orange County needs more places like this

Ritwik K.

Yelp
We ordered to go bagels. It took them forever (20 mins) to get bagels -- obvs a super complicated item -- to us!! And it turns out that the bagels were stale. Though the place looks insta ready, we cannot give it any more than 1 star since it calls itself a café.

Olga B.

Yelp
Fulfilling and beautiful as always. Tried something new today - French omelette sandwich - which was delicious: fluffy eggs, greens, avo, on a soft and perfectly roasted bun, nicely cooked potatoes. Beet cured salmon is always a winner either as a side or as a part of a plate. Viennoiseries are lovely too. And we enjoy Parakeet's coffee, it is quite strong the way we like it, but well-balanced.

Alexis M.

Yelp
The neighborhood aesthetic coffee shop with pink/black/white interior. They have a large espresso drink menu and love that they don't charge extra for alternative milks. Service is quick and friendly. Line can get long as they serve food too.

Scott T.

Yelp
Cute cafe that opened up at Crystal Cove after Bear Flag moved over and to the left for the bigger space. Food is healthy, delicious and beautifully presented, but *expensive* for what it is. I recommend the Power Bowl, but my smoothie was $15 (wow). Service is lovely.

Susan S.

Yelp
Newport Coast gorgeous location great breakfast menu with many interesting entrees. Unusual ingredients, organic ingredients and cooking with intention rings my bells. I loved the Green eggs! Fabulous coffee/tea menu. A must try!

Pammy D.

Yelp
If you live in Newport Coast or love to do your morning Hike around the Chrystal Cove area. PARAKEET offers a nice, healthy breakfast and beverage option. The service is always great here, and food comes out fast. They are vegetarian and vegan friendly. I always get the mushroom toast SUB goat cheese to guacamole for the hubby. Myself I like their salmon and egg. The almond croissant is very good as well as their matcha drink or their flat white. The interior has a fresh, vibrant feel to it. The restroom is well maintained and also offers a changing table, which is a plus for family.

Yelp
Ordered drinks to-go online and they were all ready for us by the time we walked over! I got the Blue Mint Magic Latte with 2 shots of espresso. The drink has blue spirulina, butterfly pea flower, mint tea, honey, and milk in it. Overall, I found it to be a bit of a letdown for how expensive it was, but I figured it was worth trying since it seemed so unique. I also tried the salted maple latte, which I overall liked more, but it was too sweet for me! I found myself drinking the blue mint magic latte and taking a sip of the salted maple latte to cleanse my palette after. I would be interested to try some of their food, which looked pretty good from the menu!

Yelp
They are so very nice! Well worth your stop along Hwy 1 in Newport Beach. Great food and great coffee!. Beautiful day at the end of November.

Yelp
This really is a delightful cafe. My wife and mother dropped in here for an after-lunch snack. We ordered a chocolate tart and an almond croissant. The chocolate tart was filled with very rich, almost fudge-like chocolate with a melt-in-your-mouth crust and what appeared to be a tiny dash of gold leaf in the center. It really was delicious. The almond croissant had a nice almond flavor that anchored a luscious, soft yet crispy taste. A special shout-out to the woman who served us: she was super friendly and very helpful The ambiance of the cafe was delightful: warm orange tones, a beautiful painting of parakeets, and lots of natural light. The vibe was very chilled and friendly. The reason for the 4 vs. 5 score was the price. The chocolate tart was great but it cost $12. The almond croissant was also great but cost $6.50. I thought it was pricey. I will try the cafe again for lunch next time.

Yelp
This place is great for healthy food choices! If you're lucky, you get to sit outside with the ocean view while enjoying a great meal with a good service. I haven't tried it all, but the few items I got during a couple of visits, were good and satisfying. Totally recommend it!

Yelp
Gross!!!! Overpriced and just not good! Oatmeal chocolate chip cookie - dry and tasteless. Breakfast burrito - too much sauce and no flavor! Coffee was cold. I just don't know what to say. Overall, horrible service and food quality is just horrible. You can't tag on "organic" and think people are going to lick their fingers!

Yelp
Amazing location! Amazing food choices! But the best was the service! We had the best recommendations from a woman with red hair, I believe her name is Stacy! She was spot on and so kind! We will be coming back soon!

Yelp
I had actually stumbled across this cafe via DoorDash when I ordered their cinnamon honey latte and it was delicious. I figured if a latte can be this good delivered then dining in must be even better. I stopped by for brunch with my fiancé and 2 kids and what a breath of fresh air it was to have such nice and genuine employees. Mari took care of as as did a couple other very nice gentleman. The food was not only eye appealing but it did not disappoint!! Soooo delicious (I've attached photos). They have vegan and gluten free options which is even better. I look forward to coming back for a girls brunch and even stopping by for a quick latte and pastry. Thanks for the amazing experience!

Yelp
Located in the Crystal Cove shopping center, ocean view Drawn by novelty, all things new Parrot popping pink Started my day with an oatmilk matcha latte to drink Well blended, passed the taste bud test A banana muffin seemed to pair best If you like banana, muffins moist and sweet Then, it is probable you will like this treat The prices may seem high, depending on the judge Wallet, one may have to budge They have seating, inside and outside A vast menu with high-quality food to be tried While I sat, I googled "Parakeet" Seems you can teach it to talk, maybe repeat A social, loving, intelligent, playful bird that is happier with a friend Stranger or someone known, an invitation to extend Conversation sounds increasing with people entering in The workers- doing their best to satisfy each customer need with a grin Overall, I would recommend giving this place a try To like or not, you will never know without going... that is my why! #MeetAtParakeet #OpsCoffeeVentures xoxo -Ops

Yelp
Service was pleasant and ambiance was amazing! An uplifting space. I got the mango smoothie which only tasted like orange, and the breakfast burrito which didn't taste like anything at all. I would not recommend those items from the menu, but I did hear the mushroom goat cheese toast was good!

Yelp
Went here for a brunch date for a good matcha latte and nutritious meal before hiking due to past positive experiences with the matcha latte at Parakeet Cafe in San Diego! Matcha- SO DELICIOUS and the warmth was just heavenly on this cold morning. Would come back for the matcha alone! My bf had the Chilaquiles and I had the Power Bowl. - Chilaquiles: pretty yummy, except on the saucier side- it became harder to eat as eating progressed due to the abundance of sauce, it was not lacking flavor though! - Power Bowl: yummy sauce, the labneh & zaatar made the dish delicious! The bowl was also half what felt like arugula in which I did not expect as it was not in the menu description. I was a little disappointed at this, as I'm not the biggest fan on arugula (but was able to enjoy it by mixing it into the sauce). I wish there were more of the other contents (oyster mushrooms were delicious)! I also wish that there was more variety of protein in the bowl, I did not do a protein add-on due to the options being on the pricier side for already a pricy bowl (which I respect for the location of cafe & quality ingredients). Overall, it was a super cute spot and unique dining experience, 3/4 stars for the food but would come back for the matcha latte alone!
