Avocado Toast and Turmeric Lattes Touch Down in Little Italy - Eater San Diego

"Parakeet Cafe has taken flight in Little Italy. This is the second outpost for the eatery, which landed in 2017 in downtown La Jolla. The new India Street location, a 3,000-square-foot space, lands next to Salt & Straw Ice Cream across from the Piazza della Famiglia. Co-owner Jonathan Goldwasser plans to open more branches throughout San Diego; the next one will debut at One Paseo later this year. Known for its health-conscious, all-day menu, the cafe serves toasts topped with avocado and beet-cured salmon along with trendy plates ranging from matcha waffles to quinoa bowls and raw zucchini noodle salad. Beverages are on-trend as well, with specialties that include a turmeric latte, adaptogenic mushroom drinks, probiotic mimosas, and low-glycemic hot chocolate. Doors open daily at 7 a.m., but the new Little Italy location has extends its operating hours until 10 p.m., offering dinner options that include organic roast chicken, wild Alaskan halibut, sweet potato curry, and a baked falafel platter." - Candice Woo

"A casual breakfast spot near her hotel where she sat outside and ordered yogurt and granola that arrived with an unusually generous amount of fruit, along with a green juice and multiple coffees — a convenient, unfussy choice for a groggy morning on tour." - Rachel Sugar

Parakeet Café in La Jolla is one of my favorite spots! The team here is always welcoming, helpful, and genuinely friendly, which makes every visit such a great experience. I especially want to give a shoutout to Alec—he goes above and beyond every time. His kindness, attentiveness, and positive energy really stand out and make me look forward to coming back. Parakeet Cafe in La Jolla is a delightful spot with a great location right near the beach. I stopped in and had their acai bowl, which was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced—not too sweet, just right! I also picked up some kale chips and chai wafers to take home, and they were a tasty and healthy snack. The cafe has a welcoming vibe, with bright decor and friendly staff that make the experience even better.

The Parakeet Cafe juicery in the cove is one of my favorite spots to grab a coffee! I love stopping by here in the mornings to read a book. The coffee is strong & delicious. I tried the lemon blueberry scone today & I’m so glad I did! I’ll definitely try it again. The baristas, Alec & Erin are always polite & kind. The view of the cove & the Pacific Ocean are hard to beat. It is gorgeous. If you’re a local or visiting from out of town, you definitely have to stop by!

This is such a cute cafe! The Parakeet cafe is inside the La Jolla Cove Hotel. I enjoyed the coffee and baked goods. What I didn’t enjoy was the excessive mark up in prices unfortunately, this isn’t unique to La Jolla area so I didn’t take that into account for the rating. Honestly, the service carries this rating pretty heavily. The baristas were very personable and gave some awesome local recommendations. I went here a couple times during my stay.

Super nice coffee house, across the road from the ocean and beach. Very nice interior and there is an outdoor decking area with beautiful views. Coffee itself was really nice and smooth. There was plenty of alternative milk selections (free of charge) which is refreshing. The pricing is average for San Diego, latte costing $6. Otherwise the coffee shop is a good choice if you want a good coffee in La Jolla.

This store has the best location and views! I always like the drinks from Parakeet. Although it’s kinda pricey, drinks are very delicious. I enjoyed their tea, matcha latte and chai. Plus you can’t beat the view here. I’m so glad now La Jolla Cove has a coffee shop that can see the views.

Muffins were old, maybe they are made at other locations and sent to La Jolla? Not fresh and very hard. All the tables were dirty and dusty, like it had not been cleaned in weeks. The drinks took over 15 min when we finally asked the barista was sitting on his phone and told us he forgot about our drinks Other locations in Del Mar and Little Italy are great, this one is not representing the brand well.
