I think the best words to describe my experience are underwhelmed and unwelcomed.
I gave the restaurant three stars because my son loved his chicken served in a delicate pastry, covered with a creamy mushroom sauce. My husband ordered the exact same thing and felt his serving was cold. I had a salad with tempura covered shrimp and was unimpressed. The salad greens were limp and the shrimp looked like the small, left over pieces at the end of a service. All our fries tasted like it was twice fried and overly salted.
The service was also very peculiar. First we were told we were too late for the prefix meal (despite being told on the phone that it would be OK) and we had to order from the main menu. Then five minutes later, another server returned and were told we only had three choices because the kitchen was out of everything.
I would have suggested removing the 1:30 lunch reservation option if this was going to be an issue for the kitchen. Except I saw another couple arrive after we did, served before we were, and received food that was not one of the three options we were told the kitchen had left.
It was also very uncomfortable when one of the restaurant people removed one of our umbrellas (we were sitting outside in the patio and it was very hot) and had the three of us crowd together to fit under one umbrella.
All this combined made me feel very unwelcome, certainly not what I was expecting, especially when all the other reviews looked so promising.
I’m really not sure what to think at this point.
Maybe my experience was just a fluke. But one bad experience is one too many as far as I’m concerned. Not sure I would go here again, or feel good about recommending it to others.
