I like the single bedroom apartment I live in, but am 50/50 overall.
The Good: New apartments with some great lounge areas. The under cabinet lighting in the kitchen, and in-apartment laundry is convenient. The grounds are always well kept and very clean 👍. Security for the apartments is nice — I feel safe even though packages still get stolen. Julianna, the main receptionist, has always been helpful and friendly. She does a great job and seeing a smiling face every time you pass by really adds to the ambiance.
The Bad: take a look at the picture I attached for starters… It speaks for itself! The internet they force you to pay for with no other options gets MAJORLY throttled during peak hours. They have some ridiculous rules regarding the parking space you can rent, and what you can do in your own apartment. If you want to have a couple friends over in the lounge they will charge you a couple hundred dollars per hour.
You know how traffic police have certain quotas they have to fill by the end of the month and so they get kinda ruthless to make sure those are filled? Well that’s a great parallel for Vincent. He was cool and all when I moved in, then did two things that made me question his character. #1 — I applied and got accepted for my apartment at one price, then when it came to signing for it they upped it by $45. Not a big deal just a little shady. #2 — I told them I would take a parking spot they offered me, it was over Christmas and the new year, but I didn’t sign the contract right away because I had some questions about the rules they have and wanted to get those answered first. They did not give me the access cards yet (because I didn’t have a signed contract) which totally makes sense and that’s fine, but then charged me for those two weeks anyways. I understand that can be a simple mistake but when I brought it up to him, he intentionally did not take off the charge. I even heard Julianna tell him that they needed to remove that charge, but he still intentionally did not, possibly thinking I “just wouldn’t notice”. I emailed the office again about that charge, they said they would adjust it properly, however; it’s been 10 days and still not reflected on my account. Maybe it is on their end but that’s not what it shows me.
Once again, $121 is not a big deal, but being able to trust your apartment manager and that they have your back is a big deal. I won’t fight for $121 but I will fight against dishonesty!
I’m sure he means well, and I’m hoping he just forgot about it in the midst of going about his work.
Last thing about “their policies”….. I want a 2 or 3 bedroom apartment, but when one becomes available they force you to pay a fee of one months rent because “you’re breaking your lease”. They are looking for every reason possible to charge you money and dont even give their residents any preferential treatment.
What I’m showing you about this place is: you’re just another number and they don’t care about you. Suck it up that’s life.
