The Best Filipino Restaurants in San Francisco and the East Bay | Eater SF

"Ultra crispy, sizzling pork sisig is the star at Parekoy Lutong Pinoy, a San Leandro restaurant where everything is portioned for a party likely far greater than your own. The pork dishes tend to shine the brightest here, but Parekoy might be the best all-around option for made-to-order, homestyle Filipino eats in the East Bay." - Dianne de Guzman

Overall, other than being a little bit on the smaller side of space. They offered Good customer service, it didn't take long to get the food after ordering, but it was fresh and tasty. I like going there. Parking is not as easy as you have to park on the side street, but other than that it was a really good experience. Can't wait to go there again!

If you haven’t been to this place yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? GO GIVE THEM A VISIT :D This restaurant is a hidden gem on the roads of 14th Street in San Leandro… and I had never heard of Parekoy’s until my boss told me ALL about how seared and marinated their Kare Kare was (which, by the way, is one of my FAVORITE Filipino dishes). It is surrounded by quite a bit of shops with empty storefronts, but with it comes lots of sarap and good luck, destined to make your taste buds JUMP into a whole new dimension. When ordering drinks, you DEFINITELY gotta try out the guava juice — freshly squeezed and, without any doubt, fresh on the cup when you drink it. The guava juice definitely helped my taste pallet — to enjoy the FULL experience that was given not only to me but also with all my coworkers that were there too. The Lumpia Shanghai and Chicarron Bulaklak definitely was a NEW experience for me — I thought that it honestly was fried pork fat that MELTED in my mouth, and left a very slick taste. We also ordered their ultra special dish: their Crispy Pata Kare-Kare. The sauce tasted a LITTLE nutty, but that’s what I liked about it: the thick texture sauced on top of the Kare Kare is what made it EXTRA unique and unlike any other Filipino restaurant that I’ve been to. Best of alll, the garlic white rice was probably by far the biggest highlight of all the dishes we ordered — including the condiments that came with it too. The hospitality of this place is top-notch — everything was cooked with love, and the owner treated us like family.

I’ll definitely be back to try more dishes in the future, but for those of you that haven’t gone here yet — this is a WONDERFUL addition to your staple places to try Filipino food in the East Bay!

Google
What a great restaurant run by lovely people. We got the afritada chicken dish with fried garlic rice and it was delicious! Very different flavor profile and exactly what we were looking for. As a bonus, the staff helped us with picking the right food and combination and steered us to the correct combo. Would highly recommend and will be back again!

A small Filipino cuisine restaurant located in San Leandro. I wanted Filipino food for lunch and this was close to my location. The restaurant is small, no real ambiance. If you are a group of 3 or more, the restaurant is a good deal. Buy some rice and then separate main dishes. The servings are plentiful for 3 or more people. The prices are a bit much though, but if you share the cost. It is good. The taste of the food was disappointing.the adobe chicken had small pieces of chicken and the sauce was non existent. Even the white rice seemed dry and not moist. I also ordered a longuisa tapa with a fried egg. Standard fare here. If you can travel a bit farther, the better choice of food and value is Pistahan.

Our party of five had a nice weekend lunch at Parekoy. We ordered shrimp sinigang, tocino, pork sisig, lechon kawali, and dinugan with a bowl each of steamed and garlic rice. Everything was good, but we did find the sinigang a little too salty. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was helpful as it was our first time visiting Parekoy. Overall a nice Filipino restaurant. I will be back to check out their all-day breakfast.

Google
Ordered the pork sisig and the lumpia Shanghai for take out. For the positive, the lumpia was good and I had no complaints. Unfortunately, the pork sisig was borderline inedible. It was hard and dry as if they left the pork out to dehydrate 😕Also, the sisig was cold once my sister brought it home as if it was never heated. We live less than 10 min away and the food was brought straight from the restaurant. I don’t usually leave low star reviews but honestly it was very disappointing.

Google
This is my sister’s to go place when she has parties. Food is awesome but I love taking the leftovers after the party. I love it that way. With the portions I get, I ration it out cause it’s has a home cooked feeling to it when I eat🇵🇭🫡

Google
I never really ate Filipino food out because we always ate mom's cooking. It's great to see more Filipino restaurants popping up and this little place had some delicious food. We had the kaldereta, lumpia Shanghai, pork sisig, lechon kawali, with garlic rice, and then turon and halo halo for dessert. Everything was tasty and came out piping hot. The service was super friendly and they were celebrating their 6th anniversary. Business was good with most tables occupied and we saw some people getting take out too. The kaldereta was rich and tasty, just like I had growing up. The lechon was nice and crispy. The sisig was almost as crispy as the lechon so we may not have ordered both had I known they would be so similar in texture, but you can't really go wrong with too much crispy pork.

Yelp
I returned home from a conference and had a horrible headcold, but still had to go to work. I wanted some comfort soup and checked the menu to see if Tinola was on the menu. Jackpot. I called and placed my order along with and order of garlic rice. The young lady said thatit would be about 30 mins. They don't have pre-made sitting in a buffet tray(yay!) so time accordingly. I picked it up and to my pleasant surprise there was the soup in two containers. This was one order and rice was in a big container. Got to work and chowed down. The soup had fresh sliced ginger, chayote, the mustard leave and fresh boneless thighs. The taste was like I make at home. The order lasted two meals and I was feeling much better the next day. Will be trying their other options for sure.

Yelp
I had a terrible encounter with a female server in her 60s with short gray hair during my recent visit. I've been a regular here for years, and we always order the kare kare crispy pata. On this occasion, I noticed that the menu board displayed the item as "Crispy Pata Kare Kare," so I communicated this when placing my order. However, the server brought us two separate dishes: kare kare and crispy pata. When I politely explained the confusion, she raised her voice in anger and aggressively disputed what I had said and walked away. Shes older lady on her 60s with gray hair. This was my first time experiencing such behavior here, and it seemed to be a result of simple miscommunication. I would suggest that the owner consider changing the name of the dish to "Kare Kareng Crispy Pata" to avoid further confusion, as the current wording on the menu is unclear. While I understand that mistakes happen, the server's condescending and rude attitude was on a different level and left a negative impression. I'm unsure if there's much that can be done about this, but I felt compelled to share this feedback. I ended up just paying for that extra crispy pata that she didnt want to admit she mistakenly placed for us. I didnt want to argue further but the way she treated us wan uncalled for. Id like a chance to speak and share this to the owner pls. definitely not coming back here along with my tribe. Not worth the drive from Tracy, when the customer service is unbelievably low class

Yelp
Was looking for a pinoy eats joint in the SL area when we came across this place on Yelp. I remember some friends mentioning to try out this place, so we had to pop in to sample some for ourselves. Did take out on this day since we were headed over to some friends. This place is super tiny, they only have a few dining tables, but it works. Single restroom is actually in the kitchen area. Staff is nice, they helped me order when they told me a dish I wanted wasn't available. National shortage of bittermelon, I know this. Ordered pinakbet, bangus sisig, and chicken adobo. Seriously, this was some of the best pinoy takeout I've ever had. Tasted home cooking. The pinakbet is something I've been craving, but could never make it this style at home. So flavorful and not lacking any vegetables. Must try this dish. Chicken adobo was good, nothing really stood out on this dish. It's fairly easy to make at home and mines tasted similar. I'd try the pork version next time. But the dish that hit it out of the ballpark was the bangus sisig. I'm sure it would have been so nice in the restaurant and eating it immediately. But this was still very delicious. Chopped up bangus meat with onions and spices. They used the skin of the fish as sort of a dressing and bowl for it. So much flavor and could eat this all by myself. For sure, would recommend this place. Be back if in the area. Sorry forgot to take pics!

Yelp
I usually don't write reviews, but this has been really disappointing. We've been ordering here since 2021, especially the Pork Sisig, which used to be our favorite. Unfortunately, recently it's been burnt and too tough to chew. I really hope they address this issue soon.

Yelp
Ok this hole in the wall Filipino Spot in San Leandro amazes me, I live in San Leandro and not even once I tried there food, so I told myself it's my birthday and our company is paying for the entire order so I decided to place a big order from them. I love their bangus sisig, beef Kaldereta, pinakbet, pancit bihon, lumpia are all amazing, I'm not a fan of their chicken afritada because I feel some ingredients are missing and I'm not a fan of veggie lumpia also bec some of the lumpia are dark But over all I will still order from them and hopefully dine in as well

Yelp
Parekoy is a tiny little place with about 6 tables. Orders under $20 are cash only, and they do NOT take Apple Pay. They had signs about this on the menu and the walls, so you've been warned. There was one lady working the front and she was polite enough but she did sit on the phone yapping it up the whole time we were there. We were the only ones dining in that night, but we saw several people drop by for take out. We weren't too hungry so we opted to order the pork sisig and beef kaldareta only, along with a bowl of rice. The bowl of rice was actually served in a cute metal pot, but TBH I hated that we paid $10 for steamed rice when we could make a whole pot at home for a fraction of the price. But.. that's the price you pay to dine out lol My bf eats hellaaaa rice so this was the perfect amount for us two but I think it could really stretch between 3- 4 people. The pork sisig comes out on a sizzling platter with a raw egg on top. The lady did warn me to stir right away as the meat will burn but I'm stubborn and had to get my pics lmao We paid the price cause some pieces of the meat definitely did burn haha but it was still edible. They put hella raw onions in this, and some diced jalapenos but they weren't spicy at all. We prefer sisig that's a bit more creamy but if you like a drier, crispier version, this one is will be up your alley. The beef in the kaldareta was soooo tender, like almost melt in your mouth. I was really surprised as they were solid chunks of meat. We asked for it spicy so it had a tiny amount of heat, but we appreciate the effort. The bell peppers and carrots were the perfect texture. FYI - no potatoes or olives in this (I don't eat olives anyways). They sell a home made tamarind candy on a stick for $1.50. The tamarind is really fresh, you'll even find some stems and seeds in it lol It's pretty tart but the rolled sugar balances it out. If you like sweet and sour, this is for you. These are cash only items and they won't add it to your bill if you pay CC. This was our first time here, so we just wanted to try out a couple things. Next time, I'm going for the kare kare pata and the ginataang sitaw kalabasa as those are listed as specials on their board. TBH I don't think I'd dine in again, there wasn't much ambiance and the place is just too small to feel comfortable. BTW - No parking lot, street parking only.

Yelp
Even though I'm Filipino-American, I can't make Filipino food that tastes even a fraction like the stuff my mom and titas make. That said, I rate generously when I find Filipino food out in the wild lol. I dropped by Parekoy Lutong Pinoy (PLP) in October to test out their lumpia. I normally get lumpia catered by Lumpia Company, but my daughter's first birthday party was set to start earlier than their business hours. I don't think PLP delivers, but we're near San Leandro and could pick-up on our way to the venue. There was one table of two seated when I arrived during a weekday lunch, but the woman at the front register quoted me and others who called in to place pick-up orders anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes. I balked a little at the time, but it could be because they are short-staffed in the kitchen (it seems small). I ordered regular lumpia shanghai (pork), their lumpia gulay (veggie), and pancit palabok. When the food came out a little under 20 minutes I was overjoyed (what's that they say about under promise and over deliver? lol). I started eating the lumpia shanghai on my drive home and just about finished them. They are a cute, or rather dangerous, size because they are perfect for snacking on; definitely a good party tray option. The lumpia gulay tasted good, but the veggie filling just took on too much oil and ended up being too mushy and oily for my liking. The paper bag they put them in also got soaked through pretty easily so do be careful not to put it down on an uncovered surface. The pancit palabok was also delicious and definitely a step up from what I normally get at Jollibee. Don't get me wrong, I love the Jollibee version, but sometimes you want the full palabok experience will all the fixings and PLP does just that. The other reviews mention a lot of other dishes I'd like to try (e.g., sisig, lechon kawali, etc.) so I will definitely be back. I'll just note to order at least 30 minutes ahead!

Yelp
Just like mom used to make it, so I took her there. Wish they had pancit malabun though.

Yelp
Good stuff! I had some free time in the middle of my workday so thought I'd make the drive from the tri-valley to grab some to-go lunch and extra for dinner. They must have a lunch rush because it took me three times calling to get an answer. I was calling at about 12:15 and just waited 5 mins at a time to call back and 3rd call was a charm. I ordered pancit bihon which was very yummy and had a good ratio of noodles, cabbage, chicken, shrimp, and chinese sausage. It lasted me like 3-days. I also ordered the kare kare. Meat was yummy and tender and veggies were also cooked well and not soggy. It comes with a cup of bagoong, but I ordered a second, which was a good amount there two tubs of kare kare. The girl that helped me was also very nice.
google avatar

Yelp
Kare kare- I'm biased and like my mom's better since it has a stronger peanut flavor and doesn't add tripe (I don't like tripe unless it's really thinly cut). This one had big chunks of tripe. It's still good though and wouldn't mind ordering it again. Bangus sisig- very good. I'll need to try it dining in to see if the skin is crispy. We took it to go and don't expect it to stay crispy in the to go container. Apritada- chicken was tender and it was an overall comforting dish. Apritada is not my favorite dish. Although I wouldn't mind getting this again, I'd try something different before retuning to this. Pork sinigang- this was great, perfect sourness. I'd get this again. Picked up another order a week later and ordered bangus sisig again and this time got the shrimp sinigang and bicol express. The sinigang broth was consistent with the pork sinigang's. I'm slightly biased towards shrimp so I enjoyed it more than the pork. They don't devein the shrimp but it doesn't bother me much. Bicol express was good too but not as spicy or saucy as saucy as I would have liked. I wouldn't mind getting it again though but will probably try something else first.

Yelp
My fam got food catered from Parekoy for my grandpa's 95th birthday party: -pancit miki/bihon -bangus sisig (milkfish) -kaldereta (beef) -lumpia gulay (eggroll) We also had a dessert tray (turon, cassava, puto, buchi), lechon de leche, arroz valenciana, in the spread but I'm not sure if those were also from Parekoy. The pancit was good, and they're known for their bangus sisig. The kaldereta was also good, and the lumpia were big individual pieces. Big trays enough to feed this Filipino party's attendees.
google avatar

Javier P.

Yelp
It had been a few years since I last ate pork sisig. I soon as I found out about Parekoy Lutong Pinoy and going through the photos. Within a week I stopped by for their sisig with garlic rice. It tasted just as good as it looked in the photos. It took about 10 minutes for my order to be done. Serves about two to three people. The small rice is a single serving or you can share with someone.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time. We ordered pork sisig, Longsilog and Pinakbet. The Pinakbet is good and had a lot of shrimps, the Longsilog did not disappoint, however the pork sisig was burnt and dry. The service is pretty good and the price is comparable to other Filipino place nearby. I am giving it a 3 star since food is average compared to other mom and pop Filipino restaurants nearby (UC, San Leandro and Hayward).
google avatar

Anthony M.

Yelp
First time trying this place, and I thought it was average, not great, but not horrible. I had takeout and had the pork Lumpia 3/5, and I tried the pork sigsig 3/5 for the first time. I asked the young lady helping me, what it was. It looked delicious from the Yelp photos, and she described what it was (fried porkbelly mixed with onions, jalapeños and some sort of sauce). What she didn't tell me was that it is a dish served cold. No pun intended. Unless it isn't supposed to be cold and they just messed up? The pork sigsig had descent flavor, but the cold was a little off-putting. The Lumpia was average. Like I said for my first visit, this place was average. I may visit them again to try other things on the menu, but I am not going to go out of my way.

Yelp
Best Kare-Kare and dinuguan I've had at a restaurant. I stopped cooking kare-kare at home because theirs is uniquely just as great as home cooking. I haven't dared to try to make dinuguan, but I'm picky and looking for the one like my Mom's. Their dinuguan is it. I grew up with Filipino food and am very very picky. Usually, I'll only find 1 great dish at a favorite Filipino restaurant, but this one has multiple great Filipino dishes. Try them all. Their pansit is well balanced, flavorful but not too oily, and just the right amount of vegetables. They shamelessly plastered their awards all over their wall, and I love it. The awards are well deserved. I usually get my food to-go, 4-6 dishes enough to feed 10-15 people, but it's all for greedy me. Food coma here I come! They pack it great, in proper containers and a box to help me easily transport them and not have it leak or get tossed around in my car. So thoughtful! It's freshly cooked, that's probably why it's so good, but that means 50-70 minute wait, so be prepared and adjust. Which I don't mind for the quality. Any dishes that are not great and just ok, are typical restaurant quality and me just being nit-picky for home cooking quality. Ie. Lumpia that's individually wrapped and fried so that both ends are closed off by the wrapping, is rare or never at a restaurant because it's probably not a sustainable business model, so I only see it at home cooking.

Yelp
We decided to have meryenda and chose parekoy as a first timer. I called in my order of lumpia, pancit canton and bihon as well as their sagot gulaman. When I got there parking is on the street so keep that in mind. The restaurant is small it will maybe seat 20+ plus give or take. Anyways, I picked up my order and tried it out when I got home. Their sabot gulaman was on point. It wasn't to sweet and the arnival tasted pretty amazing. Sagot gulaman has a tendency of being sweet especially if you put too much not this one. They made this perfect just like the ones in the Philippines. I found the pancit canton a bit to salty but the bihon was perfect for me. Lumpia was really good as well. All in all I enjoyed this meal and it was really good. Highly recommend this restaurant their food is amazing.

Yelp
Solid filipino food in the east bay! We ordered the tocilog and chicken afritada. Tocino was overcooked a bit but the portions were good, and the chicken afritada I highly recommend. Would love to come back and try the other dishes on the menu (sisig, sinigang, and Kare kare), tons of options to choose from.

Art R.

Yelp
Wow, what a great restaurant. Weee celebrated my best friend's birthday here and were pleasantly surprised. We went overboard and ordered practically everything on the menu. I would truly recommend the Pork and Chicken Adobo. Their sauce is like no other. Pansit was delicious. Lucky Oakland to have a Filipino restaurant like this, these are very hard to find. I would recommend Parekoy to anyone wanting authentic food and experience. They are worth it
google avatar

Yelp
Food made to order, it took 30 minutes for to go order so make sure to order ahead. The food was hot and fresh. Great taste for tinola.

Yelp
The food here was pretty yummy, some things a little pricey imo but I would still return here because they have a lot of menu options esp depending on your diet! :) Shrimp sinigang: 9/10 personally prefer fish but the sourness was on point! Pinakbet: 8/10 Bangus sisig: 10/10 delicious and the skin was super crispy! Service: our server was patient and great. FYI kitchen closes 30 min before closing time. I feel that's common at food spots but a few customers came in and were turned away because they came too late. Ambiance: classic Filipino restaurant setup with karaoke! I think $1 got us 2-3 songs so this could be a cute spot to return to with friends or family for a social gathering :) it's not too big inside so not sure how it might be on a busy day.
google avatar

Yelp
Good Filipino food. Just like home cooking. I would recommend though that they provide bigger portions

Yelp
I've been looking for a classic filipino food spot in the east bay, and this is my new favorite, go to spot! The quality of the food here takes me back home to what my mom would make. Bangus sisig is 10/10 - a must! Perfectly seasoned, and has an incredibly fresh taste, pairing perfectly with the garlic fried rice. My favorite from the evening was the pinakbet, it is chock full of veggies and the pork is done so well -- very crispy, very tender. It's a relatively small spot and very cozy - perfect sit down and dine in. Service was okay - not the most attentive, but still friendly. In sum, you should definitely go here!
google avatar

Loella D.

Yelp
Finally! I've found a great, authentic Filipino restaurant nearby. The bangus sisig was fire and tastes like something my mom would make at home. We had it with garlic rice which came in a cute little kaldero. Small details like that made our experience feel the familiar feeling of home. There's even a kareoke machine inside :) Going to tell my friends about Parekoy! I'm excited to come back and try more.

Yelp
Went here for lunch on a Saturday. Some of the best Filipino food I've had in the bay! We got the caldereta, sisig, and Pancit. The Pancit was my favorite. Everything was flavorful and the service was friendly and attentive.
google avatar

Linda L.

Yelp
Small family owned business serving authentic Filipino cuisine. The portions were generous and service was quick and attentive. We ordered the lumpia shanghai, pork sisig, adobo fried rice, beef kare kare, and garlic rice (not pictured). Lumpia Shanghai 3/5: These were decent but didn't stand out to me. Pork Sisig 5/5: This was the star of the show. It was crunchy, savory and had a bit of kick to it. Be sure to order it with rice though because it's a bit salty on it's own. Adobo Fried Rice 4/5: Pretty flavorful and rice was cooked to perfection. Beef Kare Kare 5/5: Good nutty flavor and they did not skimp on the ingredients. It came with so much veggies, oxtails AND tripe, definitely worth the price. Garlic Rice 4/5: I felt like it lacked a bit on the garlic flavor but it went well with the pork sisig and beef kare kare.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place out but left a little disappointed. My sister and I ordered laing, crispy pata, sisig, leche flan, and calamansi juice. First, I was super excited to try out the calamansi juice because I hadn't had calamansi juice in a while, but I was disappointed at the first sip. The calamansi juice tasted so water downed. Second, the sisig was overcooked. It looked very appetizing, but when I took a bite, it was too crunchy and hard to the point that I hurt my tooth while eating it. Third, Crispy pata and the flan were pretty good, but they weren't amazing. Lastly, the only redeemable dish was the Laing. It was very delicious and flavorful. The service was decent; only one person was working in front, but she was able to take our orders without any problems and gave us our food promptly. The ambiance of the place does fit the Filipino atmosphere. The place is pretty tiny. Overall, 3 out of 5 stars. I would only come back to this place for the Laing.

Yelp
Sup yall let's jump right into it! The Order: Crispy Pata Kare Kare Pork Sisig Beef Sinigang The Service: Service is quick! I got the grub in 20 minutes. The Ambiance: Nice little joint. 7 tables for dine in. Accept card payment but no Apple Pay. Street parking. The Overall Experience: Simply Amazing food! Must try: Crispy Pata Kare Kare. Don't over think this- try them out!

Yelp
Our take out order was delicious, we actually took it back home in a insulated cooler & it was still warm when we got home about 75 miles away! It was well worth the drive!

Yelp
MANNNNN.. I really want to GATEKEEP. But I shouldn't. Hands down, one of the BEST Filipino spot. I've had my fair share of Filipino food, in restaurants and home cooking. But this place nailed it. Service was great. She always made sure we were okay and if we needed anything. It was really homey inside. Looks like it's a family owned. Loved the deco and everything was clean. Ordered: kare kare, pork sisig, pansit bihon, and loganisa. The prices were about $20 per plate, but they give you large portions! YOU WILL HAVE LEFTOVERS. Everything was soooooo good.

Yelp
The place is small and clean. Came in on a Sunday afternoon to pick up a takeout order. There were no patrons dining in, so can't tell how busy they can get. There was only one person in line before me for pick up but it took a while before we got attended to. Once we were helped, we got out of there pretty quickly. TBH, I didn't have any expectation on the food and was surprised on how good it was! Everything we ordered were tasty and delicious! The lumpia shanghai were truly bite size and crispy. The bangus sisig, menudo, and pinoy beef steak were very flavorful. The pancit was very good as well. Will be back to try other dishes on the menu!

Yelp
Lady answering the phone was very rude. She perhaps some personal issues. Need more training on customer service. Get out of that place if you are not happy.

Yelp
Go to spot for Filipino food to go or cater! Their pork sisig is my fave! Pork sinigang was a bit too sour for my liking but overall was good. Pancit bihon - yums Beef steak - good! Saucier that I'm used to but I like it! Good service and very accommodating.

Yelp
This place hits the spot after Sunday Service at church. The food was amazing, nicely served, very flavorful and the quality of food is so great!!!. Decent prices and great food?Hence, why they're awarded the best filipino food in San Leandro. Maybe the best pinoy food in the bay. And theres a bidet in the bathroom?! Yessssssss 10000000+ points

Yelp
Very grateful that popular items I order weren't sold out : Beef Caldereta and Beef Sinagong Great customer service and it was a short wait for my to-go order.

Yelp
I have a lot of Filipino friends but I still don't know jacksh*t about ordering Filipino food. I know the basics as to pancit, lechon, Kare Kare, etc... but still will ask the waitperson what's popular. Can't go wrong with that and if it's not good, scratch them off my list as to a future return. Family owned place where we ordered take out of: Crispy Binagoongan (recommended and I agree), Oxtail Kare Kare (okay), Chicken Adobo (needs the shrimp paste), Egg Rolls (need more tasty filling), and garlic rice (needs more garlic and butter taste). I would go back for the Crispy Binagoongan (fried pork belly with mango and fruit pieces and a side dipping sauce).

Yelp
Was in the area for a venue wedding and discovered this great little hole in the wall place. The food was better than even anticipated. The service was pretty good as well. But then, of course we went during off hours around three. The portions were generous, especially for Kare Kare. there was more than enough oxtail to satisfy me, and it takes a lot to satisfy me for this dish. The flavor was also spot on compared to others that I've had. My husband ordered the Menudo and we both loved it! As a matter of fact, my husband also loved the Kare Kare as well, and he usually doesn't even like that dish. If we weren't pressed for time, I would've took some pictures of our dishes, but other patrons seem to have posted them accurately as well as the latest menus. I hope you had as good experience as we did.

Yelp
I give this place 3 1/2 stars and that's just for the portion and quality of the food. With faster service, I'd give it a solid 4 stars because it is one of the better Filipino restaurants in the Bay Area. Location is okay since we were able to find street parking half a block from the restaurant. The facility is large enough to hold approx. 30-40 people. Service was good for us but okay for everyone else. Had an early dinner at 3 p.m and we got our food right away, 10-15 minutes from the time we placed our order. As soon as more customers came for pick up and dine-in, the service slowed. Only one person was taking orders and I noticed the family that came shortly after us didn't get their food til we were halfway done. My family and I ordered lechon, pork sisig, chicken adobo, calamari, whole fried chicken, garlic rice, and mango/calamansi juice. The lechon was good and not dry. The pork sisig was tasty and the little bits of pork skin was a nice touch. Calamari was chewy but the sauce/dip it came with was tasty. Chicken adobo was chicken adobo. Whole fried chicken was good with the banana ketchup. The calamansi and mango juices are the typical canned drinks that you can get from any Asian market so I didn't expect much from it. Would I be willing to drive through bridge traffic to eat there? Not if I have to wait a long time for dine in because I get hangry. I would, however, do pick-up or go there during non peak times. It's typical Bay Area cost for restaurant food but this place actually gives you what you pay for so we did leave the place feeling full and had some left over to take home.

Yelp
For our agenda, our group hike leader had pegged Parekoy for its delicious homestyle Filipino food for our lunch after our hike. We arrived at 1pm and parked around the corner on 148th Ave. Our group of five was seated in the middle of the dining room and we checked out the menu. Since Filipino food was new to most of us, our waitress answered our questions about the items. She said the portions were family-style sized, so we decided to get an appetizer and three entrees. Lumpia Shanghai - there was about 20 lumpias to the order and it came with a sweet-chili dipping sauce. There came hot out of the fryer. Crispy and delish! Pancit Bihon - the pancit uses bihon or rice sticks and stirred fried with small shrimp, slices of Chinese sausage, chicken, julienned carrots, cabbage, celery, green onions and lemon slices. It was delicious. Pork Sisig - came out hot and smoking on an iron platter. It was a full of crispy pork with chopped onion, bell peppers and green onions with lemon slices. It was topped with a raw egg and you stirred it into the sisig. My first time trying pork sisig and I loved it. Whole Crispy Fried Chicken - it's not a battered fried chicken but rather similar to a Chinese style crispy chicken. The skin was crispy and the meaty chicken was moist. Two of us had the halo-halo and they felt that it had too much ice in it. The food was delicious and service was friendly. Will be on my list to go for Filipino food.

Yelp
We found Parekoy just recently thru friend's recommendation. Small place but awesome service and good food! Good variety of dishes and generous servings. Thank you

Yelp
Food reminded me what a home cooked meal tasted like. Service very prompt (lunch rush hour). Ambiance, nothing fancy but very homey. The place is just a little above a hole in the wall. Needed to take visitors who were in the Hayward area. First thought was that popular place in Union City. Food there is ok but service can sometimes suck. Decided to try Parekoy. Absolutely a new go to place in the area. Oh, had lumpiang shanghai, chicharon bulaklak, pork sisig, shrimp sinigang, and halohalo. Highly recommended!

Yelp
They are very accommodating, I called in on Saturday to ordered a half tray of lumpia for a Sunday pick up at 11:15am. They open at 11am I asked if I could pick up at 11:15 they said sure, when I got there the lumpia was ready. Thank you!!

Yelp
That was some great eats! Very very very tasty foods with hefty serving sizes at decent prices. Small eatery with street parking only, but one of the better ones.

Yelp
Their crispy pork sisig is unmatched. I will keep coming back just for this dish. But here are the cons... Street parking only. You have to call a couple of times before someone answers. A little on the pricey side. I always do takeout. Food can take a while to be ready. So with all this in mind...prepare yourself and manage your own expectations. Enjoy the sisig. The pancit bihon is good. And their karekare is better than Gerry's Grill.

Yelp
Great food but good luck getting them to answer their phones. I'll keep trying but not ideal for a takeout order.

Yelp
So my sister and I wanted some good old fashioned pancit and lumpia- so Agee told me about this spot. We drove from North Oakland to check it out. It's a pretty busy establishment, right across from the Bal Theatre. The lumpia seemed like it had ground chicken and ground veggies. They were on the tiny side as well. That's the only negative. I usually like my chicken meat chopped, and I like my lumpia bigger. Oh well. The pancit was good and flavorful! I'll be back for that probably...unless I can find an auntie to make that homemade lumpia and pancit!!!
