The 9 Best Places for Barbecue in Palm Beach County | Eater Miami

"A Palm Beach County staple since 1988, Park Avenue Barbecue continues to thrive with six locations across Palm Beach and Martin Counties. The dry-rubbed ribs, smoked fresh daily, are offered as a full or half rack, served with two sides and a choice of garlic toast or cornbread. For those willing to stray from the ribs, the Zac and Cheese—featuring pulled pork, mac and cheese, bacon, and American cheese—is a must-try." - J. Miller

A friend brought me to a Park Avenue BBQ place once and ever since I’ve been in love with their ribs. St Louis ribs are phenomenal’ perfectly cooked and meat falls apart! Wings are ok. I would picks ribs over wings at this place any day of the week. Service was good and they took care of us by replacing the mac’ n cheese for more beans. I didn’t really like the mac’ not tasty and very bland. RIBS RIBS RIBS! And fries! This is my place for it.

Google
1st time there. Server was PHENOMENAL. We came at an off time around 3-4pm and you could tell the food was reheated. That was really unfortunate because the flavor was fantastic and it could have been 5 stars. The garlic bread was fresh and so good. I got the daily special so that is also likely why. Loved the stained glass and atmosphere was pretty good but it was slow and an off time.

Google
We stumbled across this place and were blown away on how good it was! Mondays Slab Ribs are 17.50 with two sides. Amazing Ribs great service and pleasant atmosphere! Best BBQ in West Palm Beach.

Last night, my boyfriend and I went for dinner. It was a Wednesday and the special was half rack of ribs and chicken combo for $17.99. The food was perfectly delicious and it was a great value for the price. The ribs were so juicy and flavorful. The chicken was really good. The sides I got were macaroni and cheese and baked beans. The baked beans were yummy. The macaroni and cheese was super cheesy. I got sweet tea to drink and it was a perfect sweet tea. The server was super nice and very attentive. I noticed all of the servers were very nice. We really enjoyed our meal and experience at Park Avenue barbecue

Updated: 11/05/2024- I found out they do have a rewards program and recommend downloading the app. Free desert on bday,100 points to download it=5$ off..1$=1 point the next tier is 200 points=15$ off!ALSO happy hr 3-6 2$ beer and wine!!Hope this update helps. I saw some ask if they had rewards and they said no.. so that was false. 10/30/24 I will start off thanking the service provided and the great Coupon they send out to help us afford a great meal from a affordable price. The quality and quantity of the amount of food was amazing! It has been a while since we have been about to visit but with the coupon we had to jump at the chance to enjoy this restaurant again. My favorite being the special hot/sweet pickles they start off right away and the perfect sweet tea! My mom and I decided to go with the funny bone LG size, come with 2 sides(collard greens, coleslaw and macaroni and cheese are highly recommended) but really everything is great. Also corn bread or garlic bread with the plate for 15$. The plates where huge and the flavor on point! Lean juicy ribs that your will crave to come back for. We had more then enough to take home home for a second dinner! Also the mustard bbq sauce was my favorite, but I mix I little of all the options. 3/4 different options available! We will be back for the pulled pork sandwiches! Because those looked amazing! They do have a bar with liquor options, wine and beer! The soda are 4$ kinda high.. but I understand everything is high now.. sweet tea is 3.75 and fresh lemonade 5$. Hope this helps you join and help with my opinion if what tasted best! Comment, like if I helped! Enjoy!

Great place to eat. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. (40 years)

I ordered my food online, picked it up, the young lady was very hospitable! The food was delish! We don't dine in, but always takeout. So we are frequent flyers! ❤️ We had ribs and chicken. The ribs are always on point! 😋

Google
First time trying this place based on there high rating (4.5) we were seated promptly upon entering and the waiter was ok! However, the food was very disappointing all the hot sides were cold, the baby back ribs were warm not hot and you needed sauce for it to taste good. The alcohol drink I tried was really bad could not drink it! Definitely felt like a waste of money. Sorry I would not recommend based on this experience

Yelp
Yes, we were in the mood for some savory, smoky, succulent meat. We were told that Park Avenue BBQ Grille is the place for us. Located off busy US One, set back is Park Avenue BBQ. Baby Back ribs, St. Louis ribs, pulled pork and beef brisket is what this restaurant is all about. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor dining with an unassuming indoor dining room. We went for a combo platter of baby backs and shrimp. The shrimp was good, but the ribs were not falling off the bone tender. The collard greens and mashed potatoes sides tasted like they had a touch of sugar in it. Unfortunately, the entrée was not what I expected at Park Avenue BBQ. Although, our service was particularly good for outdoor dining.

Yelp
Best Dang Baby Back Ribs Hands Down !!!! Still my go to for Ribs and the Service is spot on !!! Sweet Tea is Sweet as it should be !!! My Favorite Manager Cleve is still there after many years !!! They Brought back 17.76 RIBS ON MONDAYS INDEFINITELY!!! Place was packed !! Great job Cleve !!!

Bob S.

Yelp
Food is pretty good, but the catfish, while used to be real good, is now flavorless, tastes nothing like catfish should taste, it's flavorless. Other than that, a good place to go.
google avatar

William B.

Yelp
Pickles had a cinnamon and vinegar flavor, fried catfish had a slight pepper flavor, cornbread crumbled but was soft and light. BBQ sauces were good, with the "wicked bbq" being both spicy and ghostpepper-like hot. Wow! The name fits! This restaurant has ample free parking in front and in back of the restaurant. The decor looks like a converted chain restaurant in the late 1970s.

Yelp
This was supposed to be a brisket plate. You know. Smoked brisket, neatly sliced, unless you're talking chunks of fatty burnt ends, of course. Instead it was scrapings and debris with the approximate texture of dog food. And not the good stuff. The sides were quite good, but I resent that I paid $26 for the main that was absolute garbage.

Yelp
Absolutely spectacular service AND food! From entrance till exit, the experience was incredible!!
google avatar

Jonah K.

Yelp
I have been here twice now, and the food is just not that good. The service however is awesome. The beer selection is pretty minimal too. There are better BBQ places nearby I would suggest. The pulled pork was not good. The catfish was better, but still not amazing.

Yelp
Stopped in with a friend for a late lunch/early dinner and we were not disappointed! We both ordered the pulled pork platter with two sides and cornbread and less than halfway through, we had to quit because there was just so much food! It's not often that you can pay $14 for an entrée and take home more than half! Kudos to Park Av BBQ Grill for keeping portion sizes adequate, prices reasonable and service fabulous!

Yelp
Solid Bbq with great staff, especially WILL! Pulled pork, brisket. Brunswick stew are standouts. they also have a drive up window which is super convenient

Yelp
After a hot day on the boat we stopped into Park Avenue BBQ for a much needed lunch. We were in and out within 40 minutes. My boyfriend and I both ordered the 1/4 chicken, which comes with two sides and cornbread.. for $8!!! The price is unbelievable. They bring out a small cup of complimentary pickles (hotties) prior to the meal. Our meal was cooked perfectly, minus a small corner of my chicken was a tad dry. Otherwise the cornbread was moist and the fries, beans and Mac and cheese were good. We have been to this PA BBQ location a few times and it's consist great food and service.

Lulu A.

Yelp
Service here is outstanding. Attentive and polite. The rack of ribs we split could have been hotter and overall food was ok. Not much meat on ribs and a bit fatty. Sides were great.
google avatar

Cindi W.

Yelp
Been to a few PA's now and this one seems consistently on top. Tuesday night rib special and you can add five wings to it, just perfect! The corn bread is always great. Their slight down fall is Mac and cheese...which I keep ordering hoping it gets better because I love Mac and cheese. Texture is great...but doesn't have much flavor? Salads are always perfect (and huge). And reasonably priced. Which in this day and age....the service is always fabulous!

Olivia G.

Yelp
Wonderful experience!!! Will definitely be back! Vince H gave wonderful service! Visited with my family here and everything was delicious and served at a timely manor.

Yelp
this place gets busy, but dont worry the food will still come out fast! we came at like 2 pm and it was packed. we got seated right away and were brought spicy pickles & water to start. we ordered the pulled pork platter with baked beans & corn and bbq combo with ribs, brisket, mac n cheese, & mashed potatoes. the baked beans were different than what im used to but still good. ask them to bring the sauce tray, the mild sauce is the best!
google avatar

Jeff S.

Yelp
I'm so glad that Park Ave is so close by. The ribs are always good and I love the homemade cake to finish the meal off. I've tried the different types of ribs and, while they are all good, the baby backs are my favorite. The service is fast and friendly. Perfect neighborhood place!

Yelp
Dean, I don't like to complain, but this is the third time in as many months that I ordered and PAID for 2 extra Caesar salad dressings for my Caesar salad entree order and they were not sent. So I'm out $3.60 in extra salad dressing purchases. It is possible that the online ordering system is messed up in some way because they also didn't see the note about no croutons which has happened the last 2 times? I will chalk up the over cooked chicken tenders to being short staffed during Omicron (or having the fryer temp set too high) and having 8-10 guests waiting for pick up on this very busy Tuesday evening. But seriously, can I get my dressing please? It really is the best Caesar dressing in the restaurant game. And the baby back ribs, and chicken salad are always on point. I was going to post a photo of the empty paper bag where my dressings and utensils and napkins should be, but we didn't get that bag either.

Yelp
Great bbq for sure. I stop here every time I visit my mother. She loves the Mac and collards. There plenty of options for everyone. The sides are delicious and made right. Just go find out for yourself. The Mall location is pretty nice on PGA Bon appetite
google avatar

Carla D.

Yelp
I've been to other PA bbq locations a long time ago and I used to think the food was good. I'm not sure if the food or my palate changed but what we had here the other night was not good. The meat portion was generous but bland unless drenched in hot sauce. The coleslaw and corn were way too sweet. The best part was definitely the hot sauce, very spicy.

V D.

Yelp
Good food, good price, clean, and quick service. We had the brisket platter, and the baby back ribs platter. Good portions. Recommend this place. Good value.
google avatar

Tonya B.

Yelp
Tasty food! BBQ and Catfish are my favs! And don't forget the spicy pickles too! Enjoy

Yelp
Have been coming here for the past 15+ years. PA always hits the spot, service is always great and the restaurant is always clean. The Pork Sandwich is my go to and is phenomenal every time I order it, fries are always good and the hot and spicy pickles are AMAZING. Their lunch deal is also a great deal. Food is reasonably priced and worth it!
google avatar

Robert H.

Yelp
I do not recommend Delivery from Park Avenue! This is my second attempt, this one failed to even show up. If you call PA they don't even know who picked up your order. Warning, order at your own risk! Food is excellent if you go to the actual restaurant!
google avatar

Brittany S.

Yelp
We order takeout all the time on mondays for the rib special. When I invited my parents to meet me here for lunch yesterday- we all showed up and were told to pick a table. After we sat down the waitress Jamie walked up and said this stroller isn't going to work- rudely, so we got up and left. If you have a no stroller policy, put a sign on your window and see how many customers you lose. I'll also add that we were the 3rd table to be seated in your whole empty restaurant. We went to the Mexican restaurant next door instead where they seated us outside next to their little waterfall and my son and dad loved it- the service was also exceptional.
google avatar

Alec B S.

Yelp
We have ordered from this restaurant in the past, but finding a chewed chicken wing in our order of 50 wings has turned us off this place for good. I called the store and the manager said to bring it back, but denied they recycled from the dinning room for take out orders. We are disgusted. What else was recycled that we ordered and was not obvious to the naked eye?

Yelp
In the midst of relocating, we are looking at somewhere different to eat, PA BBQ. A first visit. Walked in, nice open seating. Small bar, limited seating there, for now. Plenty of tables, booths, off to the right. We grabbed a booth, and were waited on quickly. I went with their locally brewed branded ale, Oinker. Wine on the other side of the table. Went app, pork strips, breaded and fried, the name eludes me so I'm gonna call it tasty. It was, some sauce to dip too. The main was ribs, the combo. St Lou and baby back. The orders came out timely. Man, never had St Lou style. They were fall off the bone, nice smoke, tender, and no yucky gristle. Really good, as were the backs. Easily the best BBQ around here. The sides, beans, mac, slaw, potato salad were all spot on. So good. Enjoy your meal here for sure.

Kathleen H.

Yelp
Ribs are amazing! Wish they had corn in the cob as a side. Also liked the garlic breas

Yelp
I am a BBQ expert. I have also been to this location many times in the past 15 years. I can say that they do a good job. Not great but solid BBQ. There is not much competition. When Mission gets here then there will be competition. The sauces are weak. The ribs are good. The brisket is not so good. Pulled pork just ok. All in all a solid go to spot.

Yelp
Came to Palm Beach Gardens to visit my father for 3 weeks. We ordered take out 4 times from both the PA BBQ locations. Both the Gardens Mall location and the North Palm Beach location. Both the bartender at the Mall Location and the North Palm location were super helpful and friendly, took care of my to go orders! Cheers! Ps. Outstanding Baby Back Ribs!
google avatar

Trina S.

Yelp
Early dinner with hubby after a long day. Hubby got the catfish sandwich and I got the special ribs/chicken. They were fine. I also ordered a Loxahachee Tea. Holy Toledo!!!!! There had to be a Caribbean bartender back there. Truly the drink was well worth the cost. Potent and god, the way a drink should be.
google avatar

Trent P.

Yelp
I'll take this Avenue anywhere! This is one of my take out spots. I love their ribs. They also have great combo platters there too. They have a lot of locations that you can choose from so slide onto the avenue and park for some ribs. lol

Yelp
Greeting- yes Vibe- bbq Service- friendly Price- typical bbq Parking- free MBR- sucks Food Beans and slaw were tasty Brisket tasted like pot roast? Do they smoke the brisket here? Baby backs were eh Chicken was dry WIGB? No

Yelp
Love this local bbq favorite. Have been going for years. Some of my favorite items are their fall off the bone baby back ribs. Pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw or collard greens. Sauces have fun names. Definitely try the heater.

Yelp
Definitely one of my go-to places when I'm craving barbecue.. the portions are huge and the staff are super friendly, there's always the owner or manager walking by chatting with the customers and of course everyone's face is full so the most you get is a nod and grunts from happy people with sticky saucy finger licking goodness With that being said always ask for their specials of the day..on mondays you can get a full rack of ribs for $15 This will definitely put you into a food coma.. and you can always have more for a second meal We started off with fried pickles, they give you this huge basket of crispy and crunchy with a side of their homemade sauce...very addicting I usually go for the pulled pork sandwich and a side of French fries just to make it easier On myself when deciding on what to eat but I went for the specials. The ribs are tender and full of flavor, you can always add more sauce from a mild to hot to stupid hot but still so yummy. It comes with 2 sides and your choice of garlic toast or cornbread. Sooo soo good I don't even feel guilty and I love that it's so close to home.
google avatar

Yelp
I know it is odd to give a BBQ restaurant five stars, but I feel that Park Avenue has certainly earned it. The food and service are equally awesome. The corn fritters are a fantastic starter and could double as a dessert. The onion rings are also great. I had the absurd-yet-delicious Zac-n-Cheese. Pulled pork, bacon, American cheese and macaroni & cheese panini! Wow! I also tried the ribs, pulled pork, roast corn, baked beans and cornbread. All fantastic. Whatever you do, don't take those amazing pickles for granted. Whether by themselves or added to your sandwich, they are marvelous.

Jay R.

Yelp
Excellent BBQ spot. It doesn't matter whats your liking. They great ribs, pulled pork as a entree or sandwich, BBQ chicken and ACTUAL FRIED CHICKEN (highly recommend). Their sides are just as good. The potato salad and Mac and cheese is amazing. It doesn't matter which one you go to they're all great.
google avatar

Pat S.

Yelp
We love this place & we have for many years since they were actually on Park Avenue. We both have our favorite dishes. My husband orders either baby back ribs or like tonite, a pulled pork sandwich & fries. I usually order the St. Louis ribs or a combo of brisket & 1/2 rack St. Louis ribs. The cornbread is sweet & the greens are like Grandma's. Tonite I had the fried catfish which is so crispy, tender & delicious. I have enough for another meal & I ate 3 pieces! The portions are so generous & I usually getn2 to 3 meals out of one dinner. We are so glad Park Avenue BBQ is in our area & that they stay so good at what they do!
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Got takeout from here for the first time the other day. It was meh. The highlights were the baby back ribs and cornbread. The brisket didn't taste like it was bbq or smoked, tasted like it was from the oven, no thanks. I also thought the mac and cheese was bland. Glad I tried it but I will not be returning but for maybe some ribs and cornbread.

Dude N.

Yelp
Had the combo order of ribs, pulled pork and brisket. All were delicious and lasted me an entire weekend. I've enjoyed coming here for over 20 years. Also, management informed me that the political publications that are on the counter were put there by a visitor and are not by the restaurant. They get thrown away as the restaurant does not engage in any political activities. Thanks

Sharon A.

Yelp
This place is horrible we were there we went there on a Friday night around 7:30 PM I ordered seafood platter it came with catfish old shrimp and some old clams fried very hard and then they gave us french fries and Beans they were cold. We told the manager and he had an attitude we also order baby back ribs with shrimp and baked beans with Collard greens you look like it's been up for a while we told the manager he had an attitude and we also had some chicken wings they were very tasty hot but the customer service sucked please beware the customer service is no good and I would never go again I only pay for the chicken wings not. Never go there horrible service no Customer Service and Waiters the have no customer service.

Proud A.

Yelp
Too bad nothing less than 1 star. "Service" is horrible!!!!! First and last time to ever come here. We had to wait so long on the server, I actually completely lost my appetite. Not due to business. The server is completely inept. Wow.
google avatar

Corinne H.

Yelp
The food as always was plentiful and delicious! Always consistent! I can't never get enough of those pickles! Lol! Service was just average, which is surprising! I usually tip over the 20%, but did not at this visit. My Mother had to as repetitively for butter, before it was delivered to the table!
google avatar

Corey D.

Yelp
This place was terrible. They got one of our three orders wrong. Our fried chicken was made in obviously burnt old oil and wouldn't replace the oil, and the cornbread was RANCID. Not to mention the place itself has mold on the ceiling. Would not recommend

Celeste S.

Yelp
Stopped in for take out, friendly bartender. Order the brisket sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. Brisket was dry, despite being in bbq sauce and was served shredded, like you'd expect with pulled pork. I was expecting sliced brisket. Mac and cheese was cheesy but lacked flavor. Both dishes were hot. I'd try it again just to see if it was an off day.
google avatar

Patti N.

Yelp
What amazing service!! Bar none, greatest service. What a meal too. Here's some photos of the ribs and the bbq chicken sandwich. Really pleased every time we go to this location of PA BBQ. The food is really spectacular - full set of baby back ribs was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Reading the other reviews, I was surprised at how upscale and clean the decor was at Park Avenue Barbecue. It compares favorably to any big chair restaurant, with a large bar and a mix of tables and booths. If you leave Park Avenue Barbecue hungry, you have no one to blame but yourself. The portions are huge. That starts with the $4 side salad which is easily big enough for two, so much so the waitress offered to bring us a spare plate. The same goes for the fried pickle appetizer, that's big enough for a table of four. We topped off our dinner with a slice of frozen peanut butter pie which was huge. My wife had the beef brisket and I had the brisket and rib combo. My only ding on Park Avenue is that they chopped the brisket. I'm a barbecue purist who grew up on Texas brisket where the only way to serve it is sliced, which is also how you'll get it in Memphis and Atlanta. Only a barbecue heathen would chop brisket. It's unnatural. Other than the presentation, it tasted just fine. My only other ding on the "cue" was it seemed light on the smoke. This is a frequent problem for barbecue places located "in town." If they smoke up the neighborhood, the neighbors complain. Seriously, some cities and counties will stomp on excessive smoke coming out of any building. The names of the barbecue sauce they serve at the table have names like "The Heater," "Extreme," and "Stupid." When a sauce is named "Stupid" a smart fella will taste it before getting a big 'ol bite. Which means, of course, that I got a good dab on a fork and it made my eyes water and I'm the guy who puts hot sauce on everything, including oatmeal. The mild sauce is named "Conservative" and you might want to stick to that unless you have a high tolerance for spicy food. The clean, open layout, generous portions and friendly service makes Park Avenue an excellent choice for sit-down cue and a beer. It's family friendly and the menu is varied enough everyone will be able to find something they like and the prices won't break the bank. My only dings were chopped brisket and the ribs, which tasted excellent, were maybe just a touch dry. Still, it was good enough to rate four stars and a return trip.

david k.

Yelp
Had their ribs ( regular and st Lois combo) which was very good. Their corn fritters sounded great but were not very good. We got takeout in all fairness and they might be better when served hot while dining in. Their sides: collard greens very good, the cornbread and roasted corn: just ok. Their desserts: peanut butter pie and buttermilk cake were out of this world We are going back for the second time in a week: will just get the items we liked the first go around
google avatar

Marco P.

Yelp
Hands down, the best ribs in town. I've left other restaurants abruptly because I didn't want to eat their ribs. Their corn bread is really tasty also. I love PA and how they smoke their meats. Mmh mmh mmmmm :P
google avatar

MzLadyv W.

Yelp
Whenever Im craving some good ribs, I always end up at Park Avenue. The portions are huge, prices are quite reasonable, the ribs are tender and flavorful, and the cornbread is nice and fresh. Service is fast and efficient, and you leave with a major food baby. Love it!

Michelle M.

Yelp
I have been a customer since they started in Lake Park. Used them for years for gatherings, graduations, birthdays and just family dinners. Never had a complaint until they opened at the Gardens Mall. The whole take out dinner for 6 was awful. Never used that one again but drove out of my way to go to the North Palm location. Which I did today. The ribs were overcooked, very little meat on the bones and hardly any sauce on them. And $20 for a rack! I won't be back, ever. Duffy's is about a mile away and their ribs are far superior, plenty of meat on the bones. Don't waste your money.
