"The old Park Hotel is back, with a subtle update to its name and a corresponding update to its interiors and its offerings. The Park Centraal Amsterdam isn’t quite an entirely new hotel — after a century in business it’s got plenty of history worth preserving, and its highly regarded restaurant, MOMO, is still going strong. But it’s been thoroughly refreshed, and now presents an irresistible vision of modernist-inspired Dutch city life: rich colors, curvaceous furnishings, and stylish artworks." - Mark Fedeli

Park Centraal was absolutely perfect in every way. Booked two rooms (junior suite and a deluxe double) and they were both wonderful - comfortable and beautiful. The lobby is stunning. Staff was extremely gracious and accommodating. We wanted to be near the museums and the location was perfect. Breakfast in the restaurant was great too. Highly, highly recommend.

We spent 8 nights at the Park Centraal in Amsterdam in late April and had a fabulous experience! The Park Centraal delivers high end quality for reasonable prices and the rooms are clean, spacious and very comfortable. Rest assured, if you’re perusing the hotel’s website, the room photos are a fair and accurate representation of the size. Our rooms came with comfy white terrycloth robes and the bathroom had ample supply of shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and hand soap. The bathroom was spacious, as was the shower. The hotel lobby is also very comfortable and has ample seating throughout. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. The dining room is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food was fantastic. Coffee and tea are available in the morning free of charge. We’re not big morning eaters, but the times we dined for breakfast, we enjoyed everything thoroughly. I’m a very fussy traveler and usually do extensive research before finalizing hotel arrangements and I was thrilled with my choice of the Park Centraal.

Excellent hotel. Very lovely staff. Great location by the park but a good 25 mins walk onto the heart of the city so bare that in mind if that's important to you. Rooms are small but have everything you need, although no coat hooks/wall hooks?! Would have been good to have somewhere to hang coats and bags. Bed was very comfortable. Lovely pillows. The shower and toilet are in little cubicles in the room so no real privacy- not a problem if staying with a partner, but I would have felt a bit exposed if staying with a friend. Overall, very happy with our choice and would happily recommend this hotel.

Google
Our room was amazing. The views of the canal were so beautiful and allowed for great people watching. We walked everywhere from our hotel. So easy to get around. There are cabs waiting out front if you are in a hurry. This will be our hotel for every trip to Amsterdam. Taylor Swift may have been what got us there but the breathtaking views, and incredible culture will bring us back!!!! We Absolutely love Amsterdam and we were so sad to leave our hotel. The perfect week!

Terrible Service Never Again! I had an absolutely dreadful experience at this hotel. From the moment I arrived, the service was appalling. The front desk staff were rude and unhelpful, making check-in a nightmare. They seemed completely disinterested and acted like any request was a massive inconvenience. The room was not ready on time, and when it finally was, it was dirty and poorly maintained. Housekeeping was almost non-existent; I had to call multiple times to get basic supplies like towels and toiletries. The staff ignored requests and seemed completely indifferent to any complaints. The restaurant was just as bad. The waitstaff were inattentive, and the food took forever to arrive. When it did, it was cold and poorly cooked. To top it off, the staff were unapologetic and dismissive. Overall, the service was abysmal. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Save your money and go somewhere where the staff actually care about their guests.

The location of this hotel is nice. However that is the only positive. The deluxe rooms are very small and austere. We had two twins that slid over the floor as you sat on them. Two hard chairs to sit in. Tiny table between the beds about 12” wide. Tiny wardrobe and no drawers so impossible to fully unpack so we lived out of suitcases for 4 days. The room was not a good value since it was closer to camping than a 4 star hotel.

Very cool hotel. It was in walking distance from the Paradiso venue. Also right by a canal. There are a lot of sights nearby. Watch out for the bicycle lanes though 😅. If you're not used to European roads you might get hit 😂. There are trams and cars right outside; transportation isn't an issue. Everything from restaurants to stores and sightseeing is within walking distance. The Rembrandt Museum is also pretty close by. The rooms are great. And their breakfast selection is amazing!!!

This was by far one of the best hotel experiences I have had after extensive travel globally. Stayed in the Tower Suite the first 3 nights which was spectacular. The attentiveness of the maid was outstanding and she did everything to make the stay exceptional. The morning breakfast buffet with added menu items from the kitchen was an outstanding start to every day. The atmosphere in the lobby, bar and reception is warm and inviting but I need to share the most memorable element of the stay which was the front desk staff. In particular, Marta, was perhaps the reason the trip was so memorable. She took a keen interest in all elements of my stay including a fantastic recommendation for dinner at a restaurant called Secret Garden plus everyday little insights into making my plans better. Best hotel stay ever!

Yelp
Fantastic experience! The rooms were clean and had ample space. The bathroom was amazing! Rain shower! The lobby is super classy and has a nice bar. Location was perfect for what we were looking for as well--right between the canals and the museums. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I stayed there for a week. The hotel was pleasant and well-kept while being centrally located everything I wanted to do.

Yelp
The best aspect of this hotel is its location in the museum district. They also do a great job of booking your ride to the airport with a professional taxi driver. That said, they're severely understaffed. We couldn't get room service or the front desk to pick up the phone. There is no one to help w baggage or stationed near the front door. Their bar is often left without staff and when there was staff they were new and not trained (but trying!) Our room was cleaned each day and the layout was decent. However, there is this stench on the fifth floor in the hallways that smells like sewer backup--notable by the open windows in the hallway. There is a way to turn this place around and given more staff and attention in the future that could very well happen. However, this is not a top-notch hotel and it is priced as such. We did find the check-in staff doing their best to hold down the fort and trying their best to wear multiple hats given the lack of backup. Oh, lastly, their breakfast was just okay. It is exactly the same each day so one grows tired of it after a few days. We were not sure why given Amsterdam is actually well known for their pancakes and waffles that this was never even once offered? It seems like a real big miss.

Yelp
This is our go to hotel for work and each time I've gone it's been amazing. The rooms are clean and the staff is super helpful and friendly. The restaurant has an excellent breakfast, with hot and cold options and the bar is our go to for business meetings. They really take care of us and it feels like a home away from home.

Yelp
This is an excellent swanky 4-star art hotel at a great location. Very friendly, helpful, and approchable staff. Once we entered we were greeted, offered help for our bags, luggage cart and offered fruit infused water from the bar and given information we needed to know right away. This hotel is surrounded by and in walking distance to the "I am Amsterdam" signage, Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum, MOMO museum, Hard Rock Cafe restaurant/bar (right in front of it), restaurants, bars, night clubs and coffee shops. The 5 tram is one that stops at Rijksmuseum and Leidseplein when you're going to the hotel and the same stops when you want to go to central station. [From the Schipol airport, take any train to central station then take the 5 tram, located outside in front of the station, to the hotel]. This is my first time in Europe as a tourist and we wanted to get in touch with our Dutch (Indonesian origin) roots from both sides of the family. Thanks for the excellent hospitality, I enjoyed my time in Amsterdam! :)

Yelp
Ah, the Park - my home away from home when I'm in one of my favorite cities in the world. Let's start with location - it's absolutely central to all of the AMS essentials - Museum Square, Leidse Square, Vondelpark, and SHOPPING! Everything a girl needs is a hop, skip, and jump away. Depending on your room's view, you can be blessed with a direct view of the Rijksmuseum (located a block and a half from the hotel) which is a breathtaking structure in itself or the city. If you want to go further into the city and explore Dam Square, you're in luck when staying here since the NS line has multiple stops that are a 2-4 minute walk from the hotel. With these conveniences, Amsterdam is your oyster. Now let's get to the juicy stuff - the hotel itself... Upon arrival, the concierge services warmly greets its guests and makes you feel welcomed. The hotel and lobby itself boasts a chic elegance that is both old worldly and modern all at once. You'll find the "Living Room" area that is open and inviting of all guests with plush couches, a fireplace, a library, and even a patisserie with decadent macaroons baked fresh by MOMO pastry chefs and espresso to perk up your senses. The front desk team is all very polite and will go the extra mile to accommodate your needs and give you helpful tips about the area and how to spend your time based on your likes. *** Tip: If you plan to sightsee and hit up the museums, you can purchase your tickets at the front desk to avoid the lines at each museum. *** Note that for security reasons, you can only enter the hotel's lobby after 1 AM with your room key to activate the doors. On every floor near the elevator area you will find a basket with luscious and sweet red apples that are set out daily for the guests - I swear, they are addictive! I booked an executive room and it had all of the amenities that were mentioned in the description. The room boasted city views and had plenty space. The bed was extremely clean, plush, and comfortable. My bathroom boasted a rain shower head with a large tub and had ample Dead Clean toiletries that would give Bath and Body Works a run for their money. The room also had a fully stocked mini bar and complementary coffee and biscuits for my java needs. Now, I don't sleep the best when I'm away from home, but my room was so quiet and the bed was so inviting I slept like a catatonic baby all night long :) I definitely would recommend this hotel to other visitors in a heartbeat. The Park gets an "A" in my book.

Yelp
Hmm I have mixed reviews about this hotel. For starters, it's in a great location. You really can't go wrong with where it's at and I loved how close it was to the tram that takes you too and from the airport. I also liked that the beds were comfy with extra pillows. They do have powdered coffee and creamer in the room, as well as an electric kettle to heat water. Now for the cons, the rooms are pretty small and there is no separate room for the shower. There is literally just a sheer "curtain" that you pull across to separate the bed from the shower and toilet. If you stay at this hotel, make sure you're staying with someone you're comfortable with because you'll pretty much see them naked lol. The curtain does nothing. I also kept thinking I was going to get the whole floor wet because there's tile right next to the shower and then carpet, the shower is not enclosed in anything so water does get all over the tile. The worst part of this hotel was the smell. We stayed on the first floor and every single time we entered or left the room it smelled like fish. I didn't know if it was coming from the rooms, the restaurant or where. Also, the lobby smelled too. It smelled like mold or dirty plants or something. At one point it got so bad that they opened all the doors and windows to air it out, which did help. It also would have been nice if they offered some sort of breakfast, or at the very least free coffee to their guests in the lobby.

Yelp
Amazing staff and a great location! Stay Here!! While in AMS our first hour my husband fell on one of the sidewalk/bike paths as there was construction bin consuming most of the sidewalk (not at the hotel or their problem) Subsequently he had a bad sprain. When returning to the hotel the front desk team of Joia and Evan were very attentive and helpful. A bit later Guest Service manager, Richard Blum reached out to offer us a room that had a walk in shower and easier access...crutches are no fun on a holiday. Richard and the entire team were very helpful throughout out stay. The location is superb... we were able to visit the Rijks Museum (btw Rijks has loaner wheelchairs of your in a similar bind) and some nearby attractions with help and suggestions from the team. I can't say enough about The Park Hotel and the team. The interior is nice, service is amazing and location is super! We'll be back in AMS and will for sure stay at The Park... we look forward to seeing our new friends there.

Yelp
This is a review from a three night stay in August of 2009. The location of this hotel cannot be beat. It is in a great area. We walked to just about everything and took the tram when we were tired. There are lots of cafes and bars within a short distance. You are right near Vondelpark, Hard Rock, Rijksmuseum, and the Heineken experience. We asked the front desk a few questions, and they were very helpful. Our room had a great view of the canal. I got a pretty good deal on easytobook, so it was excellent. I wouldn't eat in the hotel much because it was overpriced. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone who wants a central location in Amsterdam.

Yelp
Unfortunately I have to revise this review to two stars. I posted the original before our final night at the hotel. However, during our final night at the hotel, while we were relaxing in the lobby bar area, a gypsy walked into the hotel distracted us with a note placed over my cell phone and when we refused whatever it was she wanted from us, picked up the note and walked out of the hotel with my phone. I noticed immediately but she was already out of the hotel and we were unable to locate her. To the hotel's credit, they were quick to check the security footage and have us identify who it was. However we are appalled that this happened at all. Of course, I assume responsibility to having my phone out and not being aware of what was going on around me, but the fact that a person who obviously looked like she did not belong in the lobby of a nice hotel could enter, loiter, and steal from a hotel guest without a single hotel staff member taking note makes the hotel equally responsible. The staff should be aware of what is going on in the hotel, especially one that encourages the lobby as an area for guests to congregate and relax. The porters were nowhere to be found, there is only one bartender who has other things to do, and there is no doorman. This is a security failure. The guest service manager was helpful after the incident but was obviously hesitant to offer any guest service recovery. I was basically told "hey, that sucks but it happens all the time." This attitude towards theft, especially theft in your hotel, is why this type of crime is successful. This approach is unacceptable. Until the management takes a more serious approach to crime in on their property, I highly recommend staying away.

Yelp
This was a beautiful hotel with what I think is the best possible location. Right on the canal with an amazing view, it is also just a couple blocks from most of the museums in the area. The service was fantastic, and in particular Lina was super helpful and friendly.

J T.

Yelp
Checked in and they told me that they had a room ready that is "similar" to the one I reserved, but they tried to put me in a room with a single twin bed after I paid over 400 euros and asked specifically to be in a room with a double bed. Went down to ask for the correct room and got what I originally requested after dealing with 2 different front desk people. The bathroom and carpets are musty and moldy smelling. No ironing board and the kettle had someone's old water in it and looked like it had never been cleaned out. Great location, but spend your money elsewhere like the Andaz or Art Otel where you get better service, modern and clean facilities with more standard amenities.

Georgia W.

Yelp
The hotel was lovely and the room was perfect for a 5 day vacation. The bed I cannot describe how cloud like it was, made every nights sleep amazing. The hotel was situated in a nice part of town and not too far of a walk away from the main restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Hotel staff where also very helpful. Only problem we had was that they kept springing new payments for us to pay when we arrived. €50 extra a night, then City tax plus staff kept knocking at our door asking about our mini bar which got very annoying. All in all if you have the money stay here because it is very lovely. Just make sure you read all terms of conditions before coming here.

Tammi B.

Yelp
Great location by park restaurants and museums. Not a great room. No coffee in room or lobby. Not great service. Bathroom is dangerous. Yup is so small and to take a shower you have to turn sideways and it's hard to get in and out. Can't imagine someone with health issues.

Carly A.

Yelp
Avoid this place at all costs... definitely not worth the 300 a night and does not look as it does on the site. We must have gotten the worst of the worst room. 2nd floor above the train. LOUD all night long... the bed comforter looked as it it came from the 70s.. a gross mustard yellow scratchy blanket... the shower leaked water all over the floor.. they never refreshed our coffee/espressos in the AM when turning over the room.. the staff can't even wait for you to get out of the elevator without bum rushing in... like wtf???the WORST part, especially if you have a really bad back like mine.. the mattresses aren't even mattresses, it's a foam top on top of a foam cushion... worse than a water bed.. I resorted to sleeping on the pull out couch. Fuck this place.

Minh C.

Yelp
Stay: 1 night, first floor Checkin was chaotic as a lot of came in at the same time and the staff seemed confused, but remained friendly. Breakfast was more limited than I expected, but still had the standard fare - bread, yogurt, eggs, pastries, etc. The room itself faced the street and wasn't very well soundproofed so cars and conversations of pedestrians passing by were easily heard.

Andrew S.

Yelp
This is a really nice modern hotel to stay a few nights. The interior design: Modern. They have ramp (for anyone wheelchair bound) and step access with automatic sliding doors as you enter into the lobby. On the right is an area that looks like a study where you can sit and do some reading. On the left is a waiting area with a painting on the wall and nice suede seating. There are also several leather seats around the lobby to sit in to lounge or wait. As you go straight the front desk staff are really friendly, as a tourist they will guide you to some restaurants and attractions like the Heineken Experience, Van Gogh Museum and The Anne Frank House. Hotel has elevators and stairs. Make sure you don't get there before 2pm-1400hrs Amsterdam time because your room may not be ready. I believe on their website it shows a 1400 check-in time, I didn't book my hotel through their website so I did not know. So they didn't give me a room because I arrived early. I pleaded with the Front Desk lady and she was very insistent for me to check out some sights before coming back. They checked my luggage in thankfully and went for some breakfast, came back not at 1400 but at noon, three hours later still no room available, requested a room again, but Front Desk became snippy with an attitude. I insisted I was tired after a long flight, another half an hour passes and the bellhop finally comes out with my luggage and escorts me to my room. Besides the minor attitude they did give me my room one hour ahead of time. Late at night they lock the entrance to the hotel, that's a good thing. On a late night out, came back at 3am-0300, I was able to ring a bell to a communication system and the staff let me in. Good Security. Cameras around the hotel. Downstairs is a tiny little room, the gym, with some minor exercising equipment. Nice to keep up your physique. Trainers available, I believe at a cost. The bathrooms adjacent to the gym are very nice, neat napkins, clean and the material used to build it of good quality. You can lounge there and book the conference room there. My room has a pretty nice view of one end of the hotel, though I did not get a front of hotel view. My room has a safe and a fridge with amenities like overpriced liquor, water and snacks. It has a 32 inch SAMSUNG flat screen with limited English channels. The little time I spent watching television was on CNN. The bathroom has very hot water, a tub and blow dyer. Bring your own tooth brush, toothpaste and razor. On the table is a electric pot to boil water for your instant coffee or tea. The cups they provide in the room are not dirty or overly worn, nice. Wireless or Ethernet is at a cost. There's a phone in the room. If you want to charge your American electronics say your laptop bring or buy a converter because remember they have European outlets. Laundry service available. My bed had nice clean fluffy white sheets. The lights can be turned on or off from multiple places including changing LED light behind your bed post from Red to Orange to Blue, etc. My room had Air Condition and Fan. There is a hinge lock in addition to the knob lock on the door and a hole to see out if someone knocks on your door. The staff is helpful. You can order meals to your room or dine at the connected restaurant next door. It is also a nice modern design. The hotel charges a few dollars tax like all the others per day. Nearby is a park, shopping, luxury name brand clothing shops, the Holland Casino and the Heineken Experience. Right out side is a canal and a tour to cruise down it. I recommend staying at this hotel. I'll add photos when I get the chance.

Ashley S.

Yelp
Overall our experience here wasn't bad. We liked the location and the things that surrounded it but the hotel itself wasn't great. The rooms (or the one we got) were extremely small and the cleaning service was subpar. It took three days for them to refill a Kleenex box and one day we got missed completely for cleaning. You can also hear anytime your neighbor open or shuts their door as well as people moving about in the halls. The staff at the counter was nice enough but our biggest complaint for sure were the beds. Talk about uncomfortable! It wasn't horrible by any means but after eight days we were ready to leave.

Theresa A.

Yelp
The hotel is in an amazing spot. Down the street from the Rijksmuseum and tram stop and across the street from the entrance to Vondel Park. Easy to walk to all attractions and has a canal boat stop across the street. Room was clean and the staff always pleasant. The reason for the 3 star review is because the room was incredibly small (unlike pictures the hotel advertises). Only big enough for a bed side tables and a foot stool. If you're going to spend the majority of your time exploring, this shouldn't be too much of an issue, as I've said that the accommodations are clean and esthetically pleasing. If you want a place to be able to recoup, this may not be the one for you or make sure they give you one of the bigger rooms they have. The bed was incredibly bouncy and plush. Probably not the best for those with a bad back. And the 'shower' was accessed by climbing into a tall, deep bathtub. Not good for those with mobility problems. If those items aren't an issue, this is a great location to stay with an extremely nice staff

Julie G.

Yelp
Stayed here for five nights in March 2015. The staff was mostly very helpful. Check-in was a little irksome; many fellow international travelers were camped out, sleeping all over the lobby since they weren't allowing any early check-in. Luckily, the lobby is comfy, lots of pillows and cushioned chairs, and staff regularly offered beverage service. The location is awesome. Close to trams, lots of shopping, and several attractions. We felt safe here. The room was small, which was expected. I think my issue was that everything seemed to be chosen and laid out in the interest of fashion over function. The bathroom layout wasn't an issue, but be warned that the shower door may not be sealed, so you may walk out of your shower to a pond in front of the sink. The hair dryer weighs about 20lbs., so that was an unexpected daily arm workout. Lifts were out of service, so more workouts every time we came and went. I was ill during the stay and the front desk staff helped with a doctor, arranged for us to speak with a nurse on the phone, made an appointment, and arranged a taxi. It was such a relief. The ladies on staff were super sweet to make fresh ginger tea for me. Best tea I've ever had. The porters were helpful, until the bad NL power outage started. It took a lot longer than expected to get a taxi to the train station--not their fault, but there was a lot of confusion because it seemed like they gave our cab to someone else and then we got the cab intended for a large group of people, so the driver was irritated (as were we, since we then had to pay a van rate). The breakfast is fantastic, with a selection of fresh beverages, pastries, made-to-order hot food, cheeses and meats, etc. Just kind of expensive. So, some irritations, but overall a nice place with helpful staff.

Yelp
Location is great but I have had a mini-nightmare dealing with a reservation. I made a reservation online for two friends who were visiting Amsterdam. What the web site does not tell you is that you have to turn up at the hotel with the same credit card, or they will not honour the reservation. Not only that, your passport has to match the name and signature on the card. In the end my guests had to telephone from the hotel, the hotel emailed a form, and I had to fill out the form and send scans of the form (which was almost identical to what I had already filled out online), and of both sides of the credit card and of my passport. Of course this means that anyone on their staff could now start charging things to my credit card. Ironically, if my guests had not shown up, they would have charged the room to my credit card without question. I spoke to the manager by telephone, who was more interested in arguing with me than she was in hearing my complaint. I would not stay here again, and I would not recommend the Park Hotel Amsterdam to anyone, except perhaps someone I particularly dislike.
