Founded in 1794, this is the oldest and largest park in Zagreb, and one of the first public parks in Southeastern Europe. It features dense woodlands, open meadows, and five lakes, offering a rich and diverse natural landscape. The park is home to a wide variety of plant and animal species, and is particularly known as a habitat for the Middle Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos medius), a bird that is endangered in Central Europe. On the southern side of the park lies the Zagreb Zoo, established in 1925. The park serves as a peaceful escape into nature and is an ideal spot for walking, picnicking, jogging, and other outdoor activities.
