"For a wooded escape within city limits, take the tram a few stops east of Ban Jelačić Square and meander around Maksimir, the oldest public park in Zagreb. Opened back in 1794, it’s almost as big as Manhattan’s Central Park, and elegantly landscaped in the English style. Stroll around the five lakes (don’t jump in, as swimming is prohibited), tour the historic pavilions, and visit the small but sweet Zagreb Zoo. The park gets jam-packed on warm weekends, but it’s large enough that you can still get lost in its woodsy wilds no matter the crowds."

Great news place for a walk in the shade on a hot day. An oasis near the city centre it’s possible to roam for hours exploring the paths and lakes. Great to see the wild terrapins sunbathing. Enough cafes around to keep refreshed

Very pleasantly surprised to visit this huge green space near the city impressed by glorious historical background. We have good time strolling through the garden taking a leisurely walk. There is something for everyone here. We also like the lake and was happy to many ducks in there too

We went there for a walk with our dog. I was surprised by how well maintained the whole place is. It’s an amazing park and actually we’re glad we found it. It’s a spectacular place one should visit when in Zagreb.

Founded in 1794, this is the oldest and largest park in Zagreb, and one of the first public parks in Southeastern Europe. It features dense woodlands, open meadows, and five lakes, offering a rich and diverse natural landscape. The park is home to a wide variety of plant and animal species, and is particularly known as a habitat for the Middle Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos medius), a bird that is endangered in Central Europe. On the southern side of the park lies the Zagreb Zoo, established in 1925. The park serves as a peaceful escape into nature and is an ideal spot for walking, picnicking, jogging, and other outdoor activities.

Maksimir Park is the oldest public park in Zagreb, Croatia. Filled with lakes, meadows, and forest, it is the perfect place to find solitude in Zagreb - there's several neat old architecture buildings to see, plus a paid zoo on the southern end. Otherwise entry to all aspects of the park are free.

Great Park to win year is good. Must visit. Also the boating at the Jazeera is something that you shouldn’t miss why it stuff at the start. If you don’t know rowing, but once you get a hang of it, it is really fun to do. Do not miss on that pretty affordable as well about €15 for 30 minutes
