The Best Corner Stores in San Francisco for Pantry Staples, Produce, and More | Eater SF

"This Inner Richmond corner store had cans of soup during Eater SF’s last visit, an item that’s nearly impossible to find at large grocery stores. They also carry fresh bread, coffee beans, and have a nice wine selection." - Eve Batey

Google
Good selection and open till midnight. Friendly people. They have the best selection of wine and beer in the area as well as all kinds of snacks. They also have the basic staples you might need. My go to place in the area

slaying

Google
The clerk asked to see my ID and he inspected it for something like 40 seconds. He didn't believe that my California Real ID license was real so I pulled up the DMV renewal document as my license had expired and while doing so, he abruptly said, "I cannot serve you." He spent 5 minutes checking to see if I was really over 21 years of age (which I am with legal documentation and proof) before he allowed me the option to purchase the Dalwhinnie 15. The listed price on the shelf was $44.99, but it rang up as $99.99. He did not honor the price listed and was rude overall. Looking at a select few of the lesser overpriced bottles on the shelf, I would've spent over $500 there. Now, you guys won't get a penny. I am NEVER going back there. P.S. I would say 90% of all the stuff there is severely overpriced so I would avoid it either way. The E.H. Taylor Barrel Proof was listed at $699.99

Google
Great of selection of drinks, snacks and groceries. Really has everything you need. The crew is awesome. Also the ice cream selection is amazing. Great corner store with great prices.

My son, who is legitimately 23, was denied service, even after showing his state-issued REAL ID driver’s license. The guy said it was a fake. If I was there I would have made him call the cops to verify. Horrible. And for a bottle of wine. Not hard liquor. Wine!!!

Sell alcohol to underage age just for more money

Google
Well stocked store, but extremely expensive compared to other similar stores on the same street. After I asked the owner why he was more expensive than the others, he replied that it was San Francisco and if I was not happy with the price I would buy from other stores. I will do that next time

Google
This place used to be good but it changed ownership and it's gone down hill. The new owner is very nice but they can't keep anything in stock with any regularity and there's always too many new things and ugly hats and trinkets.

Very nice people, always good nd friendly.. Better prices than Safeway

Yelp
Do u know the story behind these stores and vendors with the simple goods and drinks and chips. So many in SF. There are so many that u don't go to...maybe in New York...interesting study.

Yelp
Went to buy a 4 pack of cider marked 12.50 for a 4 pack but the female clerk rang me up for $17.00! I said something to her but she just looked at be blankly! I felt like it was a scam and I didn't appreciate it!

Yelp
Park Presidio Liquors is a mini whole foods without the prep. foods, coffee, and produce. a little bit of many gourmet items available (dave's bread). everything neatly organized. beers all priced. interesting selection. brew: "ninkasi-the devil wnt down to oregon" (5.99) -imperial dark rye beer, 7.2% -smooth stout with no bitterness (hops) worth trying, not the typical ninkasi ale beer. 3.5 stars for the beer.

Yelp
the person running the store is always rude to me and over prices things. last time i went, i got carded and was refused service even though it was my card and i'm of age. i tried to reason with them and asked them to look at my card again and they refused. never going back

Yelp
My favorite corner store, it has everything you could think of and then some. It's very clean and the prices are fair for the convenient location. The staff is great, and I will continue to be a loyal customer!

Yelp
My favorite of the many Richmond corner stores. Great selection of random items. All the folks here are great. Just the right level of interaction, friendly but I won't get stuck here in a conversation too long. The most convenient of convenience stores.

Yelp
Edit: OK so I havent seen the mean little man in awhile. Perhaps this review caused them to change staff. A nice lady and nice younger gentleman are there now . He rpcies are still alittle steep. But it is what it is. so up the star value to 3 for being standard. I will say they do have a decent selection of wines, given the area. Gigantic JERKWAD! The owner is this odd Korean man who feels it is OK to charge 2-3 times the going rate for water. and other drinks. For instance a 1 liter bottle of Crystal springs water, the kind that costs $0.98 at Safeway is $2 here! Want a bottle of Evian, I believe the mini faced squishy eyed man had the NERVE to say $4. Jahg Offh! I hate going to this place but often find myself stuck going here after 9pm because most everything else is closed in the area. Sometimes I'll hoof it up the mini hill to save a few bucks at the corner store on 6th and Clement. The cashiers are nicer too. This guy looks at everybody like they are going to steal from him. I woalk in there with an Armani suit and he would look at me like I was a thief. NOt only are his drinks high way robbery but everything else is. I have not found a single product that was even remotley close in price to what is offered just one block away. I paid almost 7 dollars for 2 x two liter bottles of soda. WTF? I seriously hate this place now and will never patron it again. Especially since this 50 pack a day, weezled eyed, little man complex slapd1cK charges an insane amount for a bottle of water without providing as much as a smile or greating when I walk in. Or even the common courtesy to lube before he F@#$ me in the a$$. OH yea minimum $10 charge for CC's.

Yelp
EDIT: The owner saw my review and apologized for the issue I ran into with the pricing (see her post below). She assured me that she has spoken with her staff and that in the future, the clerks there will handle the situation differently if it arises again. I appreciate the fact that she reached out; it speaks to the small, local business identity that this corner store has. My previous post: BEWARE. The owners run a scam with their beer prices. On THREE separate occasions I have gone in to buy a six pack and they have rung it up for 2-3 dollars more than the price listed on its shelf. On two of those occasions the clerk has tried to haggle with me, charging another $1.50 more than what was listed. Do not fall for this bait and switch b.s. Shady business owners that do not deserve your money.

Yelp
Ya, ya, I know. A review for a neighborhood corner market may seem silly, but when it's after 10 pm on a Wednesday and you're really craving Ben & Jerry's ice cream and root beer, you'll be glad to know that Park Presidio Liquors is only a few blocks away and still open. This little corner store is a regular stop for us. It has an ATM (which has become our de-facto bank), and everything from Theraflu to Mac 'n' Cheese, as well as a variety of pop and beer. They also have a nice selection of wine at reasonable prices. I only wish they opened before 11 am on the weekdays. The owners are super nice and they have dog treats behind the counter so when we have our dog in tow he gets to practice catching treats in mid-air. Minimum $10 to pay by credit card ATM fee $2.00 20 ounce Coke $1.80 Ben & Jerry's pint $4.00

Yelp
Well, I seriously don't think liquor stores need reviews. But this place needs some credit. Probably the CLEANEST liquor store I've ever been to in San Francisco. People who work here are super nice! Spacious, clean, and nice! And this is the only place I can find Vouvray wine and cider beer! They even carry Ciao Bella and Three Twins gelato. So cool. I will totally make a trip down to this liquor store.

Yelp
I bought a bottle of wine here, and to my dismay it was corked. However, the next day I stopped back by the store and let the owner know what had happened. I didn't have the bottle or the receipt, but he remembered me and offered a free bottle of wine to make up for the bad bottle. That made me very, very happy.

Yelp
A convenience store to get some snacks and beverages from before you get on the bus. There is a good selection of snack food and beverages to choose from. The owners are friendly. My experiences have been positive. Spacing between the shelves and aisles seemed a little tight.

Yelp
Well stocked, the staff is friendly enough, it's a little pricey but that's the cost of convenience. It's an entirely adequate neighborhood corner store. I've been shopping there since I moved to this neighborhood, and I'll keep doing so.

Yelp
I stop here sometimes for a drink or snack on the way to Mountain Lake Park, and have always received courteous service. The woman behind the counter has even given us a free candy for my son or reminded us to grab straws for our drinks on the way out, very kind. And there's a young man that works here in the mornings that is super nice to my son and I. I did want to add I read the owners comment to Rob G below and it says you use the system price as the correct price rather than the shelf price. The customer should ALWAYS be charged the shelf price, if there is a discrepancy they should be charged the shelf price and then the price corrected ASAP. That would have avoided any problems. But I personally have had nothing but great service here. They also have nice wide aisles, good for strollers and wheelchairs.

Yelp
One of the best corner stores in the Richmond...or in the City if you ask me. Park Presidio always has fresh food and items to purchase and a great wine and beer selection. You can stop in here for a bottle of wine for a party or for breakfast supplies on a Saturday morning. It's always a clean, enjoyable market to stop into and a great mainstay in the Inner Richmond.

Yelp
Tell us something, Rob. Is your erroneous claim $1.50, or between $2 and $3? The incredible source is a liar...or lacks common sense. Even a moron who falls for the same "scam" twice knows not to go back a third time. Rob probably forgot that taxes and debit card processing fees are real. But they aren't normally included in sticker prices. Taxes and transaction charges can certainly seem like "hidden" fees to very young children and other people with lower IQs. I know who owns PPL. I know every employee. I've shopped there by choice for more than a decade simply because the business takes excellent care of its customers, many of whom admittedly shop at PPL no less frequently than weekly. Maybe when the incredible source once again returns to PPL to buy booze, he'll demonstrate that he actually can conduct a rational thought, and apologize to the staff for misunderstanding simple math, including addition, along with the core concepts of commerce.

Yelp
The bus stop in front of Park Presidio Liqueurs is conveniently located near the salon I go to. I go to a nail salon across the street, and if I don't time it right, I end up missing the bus home. So prior to my appointment, I went in to pay for the ice cream I wanted to get and asked if they could keep it in the freezer until I returned 2hrs later. Chris, the employee working behind the counter was so helpful and said, "Yeah, I think I can take care of that." When I showed-up later, he had put it in a brown paper bag so I could just grab and go! So nice when stores are accommodating to unusual inquiries. Thanks, Chris!!

Yelp
Stopped in to get some alcohol before my bus came. Super clean. Seemed like a wide selection of wine for a liquor store. Very nice lady helped me.

Carlynne B.

Yelp
The staff here are the best! I always have a fun convo with whoever is working, they now carry kombuchas and the beer/wine selection is pretty darn good. They even take the time to plant the cutest little flowers in front of the store and decorate it for every holiday.

C S.

Yelp
Solid local corner store, with a very solid selection of craft brews and wines. Since I discovered them in the 'hood, I seldom make the trek out to Healthy Spirits unless there is something particular I'm after.
