Title: A Candid Reflection on My Residency at Park West**
As my residency at Park West concluded in May 2024, I reflect on a tenure marked by both commendable support and challenging experiences. My departure, was preceded by a complaint filed with HUD against Janet and Ms. Vivian regarding my reasonable accommodation request. I am thankful for the corporate office's unwavering professionalism throughout my stay and beyond.
The maintenance team deserves praise for their prompt and skilled service. However, my experience was marred by administrative issues that cannot go unmentioned.
**Positive Aspects:**
- **Corporate Office:** Their consistent support and professionalism were invaluable.
- **Maintenance Team:** Their efficiency and reliability in addressing repairs were noteworthy.
**Areas of Concern:**
My experience was tainted by dishonesty surrounding a $350 security deposit paid in September 2022. Initially, there was an attempt to deny receipt of this deposit, but upon presenting proof, the story changed. Janet later admitted to not recognizing the deposit and diverting some of the funds for future rent and utility, and mistakenly looking for payment from from another source that she claimed that was going to pay the security deposit. This confusion led to a distressing situation, involving law enforcement and medical services, as it was deeply troubling to witness the mismanagement of funds.
After resolving to minimize confusion and replacing $97 that was deducted, I encountered further issues. Janet eventually conceded that $97 was subtracted from my deposit for future utility and rent charges. Following complaints and an audit, I received a $147 credit. From then on, I avoided office payments, preferring the resident portal, and maintained a credit balance, often exceeding several hundred dollars.
- **Staff Communication:** Persistent issues with Miss Vivian led to significant lease and paperwork and rent calculation errors. Despite my disability and requests for an alternative contact, my concerns were often overlooked.
**Direct Warnings:**
- **Documentation:** Meticulous record-keeping is crucial. Keep all receipts and financial documents, as discrepancies can occur and require evidence for resolution.
- **Staff Interaction:** Be aware that requests for specific staff interactions may not be honored. It's important to be prepared for potential non-compliance.
- **Resident Safety:** Prioritizing residents' requests regarding staff interactions is essential to prevent discomfort or safety issues.
**Final Remarks:**
Management must take residents' requests seriously to foster a safe and harmonious community. While I have pursued formal complaints, I worry that unresolved tensions may persist if others do not follow suit.
My experience was further diminished by nighttime disturbances and poor pet waste management, which were only rectified after direct intervention from the corporate office.
As a community advocate and volunteer, I strive for understanding and cooperation. I champion amicable dispute resolution and a pleasant living environment, but I cannot overlook disruptive behaviors.
In my opinion dealing with Park West management, I found Janet's lack of transparency and professionalism concerning, with Miss Vivian often acting as a barrier. In contrast, Brandye's professionalism was exemplary, and I hope she remains untainted by the deceit I encountered elsewhere.
Should Janet dispute my review, I possess all relevant email correspondence regarding these matters. My commitment to community positivity extends beyond Park West, as evidenced by my advocacy, neighborhood watch coordination, and volunteer work with various organizations to improve local amenities and support community initiatives.
