The 22 Best Restaurants in Richmond, BC | Eater

"Enter this shopping mall from the No. 3 Road entrance to see crowds of people seemingly entranced by the sight, smell, and thwacking cleaver sounds emanating from Parker Place Meat & BBQ. That’s before even reaching the mall’s food court, which bustles at lunchtime. Cuisine types and offerings vary widely, from Singaporean beef and pork jerky to bubble waffles and fruit juices from staple vendors like Tak Fook Noodle & Congee Shop, Macau Cafe, and Szechuan Cuisine. I always try to stop here when I am in Vancouver. I do travel to China for work trips, and going to Parker place is as close as I can get here. The food in the food court is very good and inexpensive. I gave 4 stars due to how it has shrunk since the pandemic.

Google
Parker Place in Richmond may have an old-fashioned vibe, but it’s a gem for shoppers. The food court is a highlight, offering delicious, bargain-priced food from Hong Kong and China. The variety of shops is impressive, from household goods to specialty stores, making it a diverse shopping experience. The BBQ shops are a must-try for food lovers. While the mall lacks modern decoration, its charm and convenience, including easy parking, make it a great place to visit for both dining and shopping. It’s a classic spot that still delivers.

Google
A good chill out place for friends. Good happy hour deals. Easy for walk in too. Nice patio for outdoor folks to enjoy downtown view and have a drink. Food wise doesn’t disappoint too. Wish the food list longer in the menu for happy hour.

My family and I went to the food court inside the mall for lunch, the foods were amazing, price was very affordable! It's my first time to go there, and most likely will be going there again. The BBQ pork and soy sauce chicken over rice from Tak Fung were sooo good, also pork buns from Yummy Yummy was freshly handmade, it's a must try. Next time I will have to try something else as they have varieties of food that I haven't tried. The problem was just that the sitting area was very very limited, there were not enough tables and chairs to sit on, people were like waiting on your sides to take over the tables, only few people speak English, and sometimes they don't wait in line property. Parking lot was also hard to find. These alone can discourage people to visit Parker Place mall, so hoping they can solve the problems in the near future.

Google
One of the better Asian malls in Richmond, this shopping center is very old and have an authentic feeling. The mall is almost filled with Hong Kong clothes stores, DVD store which sell Chinese, Korean and Japanese movies and TV shows, and car accessory shops. There are also salons, doctor offices, travel agencies, and restaurants. There are lots food choices in the food court such as Taiwanese, Japanese, Noodles and it has the authentic Chinese BBQ, Singapore style beef jerky and HK Style egg waffle, it’s why the food court is very very busy in lunch time. Parking here is pretty decent, with plenty of spaces also park on the roof of the mall if all the parking spaces are gone on the ground. If you don't speak Chinese, no problem.  Most of the retailers now speak English.

Google
This long time Asian plaza has a lot of food options. A lot of parking but can still be packed at peak times like lunch and dinner. You can find a lot of hk style snacks here like bubble waffle, curry fish balls, fried rice, fried noodle etc. I often come here to order curry food from curry kitchen, my hubby likes the bBq duck with rice next door. There is also fresh seafood store and bbq meat store in this place. Lots Chinese traffic here. Attached are the food court photos I took while waiting for food.

Yelp
Tucked away inside Parker Place mall, my family and I have been coming here for their BBQ for over 20 years. Perhaps this set the standard for me for HK bbq, but after decades it remains my favourite bbq place with taste and quality as good as the traditional stalls from HK. Their BBQ duck and cha siu pork are the best; they have a unique flavour that you cant find anywhere else in Vancouver. Their roasted pork is extremely crispy and flavourful, but should be eaten when hot. Their longevity and consistency are a testiment to their product, and in a city already known for its chinese food, Parker Place BBQ stands on top as a must try.

Yelp
a BBQ Place... In the Asian culture, BBQ meats play a big role especially during special holidays and occasions; use often for praying and offering before become yummy to the tummy. This place has been the few BBQ places I frequent quite a bit over the last decade and probably one of the top 5 Chinese BBQ places in the greater Vancouver area according to some. There is always a lineup here from opening till closing and insanely crazy during special Chinese holidays. The exceptional quality here comes with a little higher price tag. The skillful cutting of the meat and presentation does show quality and wouldn't be an embarrassment to your guests. I think all the whole suckling piglets, BBQ ducks and free range soy chickens I ordered here over the years are enough for me to start 2-3 farms myself. Here were the BBQ I ordered last time; 1. One whole BBQ squid. Fresh and tender, not my thing but relatives liked it. 2. Free range soy chicken. Nicely done, like it when eating it with ginger and green onion sauce. (Paid extra for more ginger and onion sauce but never got them lol) 3. Roast pork (3 bones). I always preferred with the actual bones because I always find meat more tasty when bone in (my mom always think I am crazy paying for bones lol) This place is located inside Parker Place Center, quite compact and the lineup gets pretty long during peak hours (don't try to cut in line, you'll get a mouthful from the aunties lol). The service is pretty basic like most BBQ take out places so don't expect a hug and kiss from anyone. Just go hug and kiss your meat! The food here is okay. I tried ordering a whole suckling piglet the same day but to no avail, therefore, always order such items in advance. I just have to settle with what they have. Like I said, the price here is a bit higher than your average BBQ place, about $140 for what I ordered this time around.

Yelp
This is the best place to get BBQ! The BBQ pork was my favorite but they are all very tasty. Very fresh and the most friendly staff you'll meet in Richmond BC!

Yelp
This was the first place that I went to for Chinese Barbeque today during my time in Vancouver for my trip and it was a really good experience! I went to the restaurant today for lunch today and the ambience was pretty good. It was not too loud inside, but not too quiet either which was perfect. Also, the service was great when I was ordering my food. The first thing that I ordered was the Roast Pork which was really crispy, juicy, and had a strong, rich flavor. The second thing that I ordered was the Barbeque Pork or Char Siu which was really juicy and tender. Also, the sauce for the pork was seasoned wonderfully due to it not being too overwhelming when I was eating it. Overall, this was a really good restaurant to visit and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to go to a good Chinese Barbeque restaurant!

Yelp
A solid spot for roasted meats! Our family got the roasted pork and the meat is so tender and delicious ! We also got one of the soy sauce chickens and was probably one of the best chicken dishes of my life. Meat was incredibly tender and juicy with subtle sweet soy sauce flavor. There is usually a line but goes by fast. Quick service and quick paced ambiance. Must visit if you're in Richmond! We were able to bring the meats back to Seattle :)
google avatar

Yelp
You will see the line and smell the roast pork and BBQ pork when you get there. I've heard so much about it and I had way too high of expectation. I mean it was good but I've had better in HK barring those in HK are Michelin stars. Still. So I'll give it a 4 stars.

Yelp
The loonng lineups at this place needs no explanation. This place has been around for decades and STILL serves up quality & tasty BBQ meats. My friends from Seattle sometimes will make a special trip to this place just for their crispy BBQ pork. The meat is lean & not too fatty. This is my family's favourite. TIP: buy a big piece and cut it yourself cuz you want the meat to stay juicy when you serve it at home. Get there early and be prepared to wait in line. Parking is a challenge at the best of times. It's THE best place for Asian BBQ meats in BC. Definitely worth the drive!

Yelp
Ordered the roast pork and roast duck combo over rice, and side of bbq pork. Everything was fresh and hot, tasted very homestyle and good. Very friendly service. The guy working speaks a variety of Chinese and English. Yum.

Yelp
This place is a must go to when in Richmond/Vancouver Canada. We used to go to another place for their cooked meats but after finding this place, there is no turning back. We also recently discovered their pork cheek meats and it is soooo tender, meats in your mouth. Their roast ducks also very good but prices have gotten pretty expensive lately. Like over $50 CAD. Regardless, every time we are in town, this is one of our must stop locations.
google avatar

Agnes K.

Yelp
This place has an average of 6-10 people wait line...roast ducks, roast pork and soy sauce chicken looks delicious hanging in window front. I bought a pound of roast Pork and Pork Jowls, delicious...it's worth the 20 min wait in line. The prices are reasonable. The man chopping BBQ items with the huge butcher knife was very patient and friendly. Better service then HK BBQ beneath CA superstore.
google avatar

Vickie W.

Yelp
My brother from out of town loves their crispy roast pork that he would pick up some to take home on the plane:-) They accept over the phone order to pick up later without the line up.
google avatar

Andy L.

Yelp
I stopped by here recently after hearing lots about their BBQ. In terms of food, I tried their Roasted Pork and Char Siu. The roasted pork had crispy skin, was flavourful and juicy. It's worth trying but the downside is that some of the pieces weren't great. The Char Siu was quite lean and was quite sweet. Similar to the roasted pork, the cuts weren't great. The consensus I got from talking to others is that they give better cuts if they know the buyer.
google avatar

Jboogie L.

Yelp
$18/lb for roast pork. It tasted good. Cash only. They sell lap cherng as well! We didn't have that much cash on us so was able only to buy 1/2 lb to try

T C.

Yelp
Please don't come to my favourite HK BBQ place. I don't want to wait 30 mins in line! meat is much better than the famous place below Superstore. Go and line up there instead please.
google avatar

Yelp
It's been a while since I've been to Parker Place and totally forgot about this place until my wife mentioned it. There was a line up to buy the bbq meat. If you want fresh meat, you don't have to line up. We got some roasted pork and bbq pork. They asked if we wanted fatty or lean meat for the roasted pork. We got something in between. It was good, not too salty and the skin was perfectly crispy but tender. The bbq pork was so good. It had flavor, was tender and not too sweet like some other places. I can see why there is a line up here. If we are in the area and want some roasted pork, we will be back. *

Yelp
The fact that people drives from Seattle to here just for some Chinese BBQ is a testament to the reputation of this shop. Not only this BBQ shop have one of the most expansive menu, ask for the armpit cut (不见天) for the charsiu. get the intestines to go with beer. or pre order a roasted goose. Don't forget the cuttlefish or jellyfish too. Getting a full roasted duck and a soya chicken is a must regardless. In addition, .5lb for each BBQ pork and charsiu per person is the usual order for the bigger family members. The only true downside of this place it is cash only and I have to drive 2+ hours from Seattle for it.

Yelp
Ever since covid took a toll on most businesses in Parker Place, the one business that maintained Its busy times is Parker Place (Aberdeen) bbq. In my opinion, the best Chinese Bbq places to get crispy roast pork aka su yok aka Cantonese lechon. They also specialise in bbq pork neck. It's juicy and moist. This is not cha siu but cha siu neck. They only make 10 labs a day. So it disappears fast! The line up moves fast and as the local butcher is pretty fast with his knife. The busiest time is between 11am to 130pm. There are 2 separate line ups to get inside. To the left is the cooked bbq meat. To the right and against the wall is the raw meat (this is the less people line up) incase you are lining up for food.

Yelp
I love cha siu, but ultimately one of the best parts is the parts with the equal ratio of fat and meat because it melts in your mouth! This place in Parker place is well known for their delicious cha siu. Especially shown with the amount of lineups we had to go through for this! * The cha siu sauce is sweet and delicious thick. Perfectly coating the meat making it glisten! I loved how the ratio of fat and meat was! The meat and fat was so tender it melted in my mouth and it was a perfect dish with rice! * 8/10 - honestly am in love with the cha siu here however I did wish they didn't give as much sauce as it was drenched in it! Next time I'll ask for a bit of sauce! * 7/10 - I don't recall the pricing however it was a good ratio as it tasted fantastic! The best part about these shops is you get to customize your option and how much you wish to pay!

Yelp
Like everyone else, we came here because HK BBQ Master is currently still closed. My husband, sister and I drove up from Seattle for a day trip and stopped here first. It was around 11:30 AM on a Saturday when we made it here. We parked on the upper level roof area, and it wasn't too bad. We walked down to Parker Place where there was already a good size line. There's an ATM not too far away from the place where we got some cash (cash only). We stood in line for maybe 15 minutes till it was our turn? We got 2 orders of the roast duck/roast pork with rice. For the 2 meats with rice combo, it was $11 bucks each. Not too bad. They gave us napkins and forks/spoons for our order as well which was nice. We scarfed down our food. My sister and I shared one while my husband ate the other. They do give you a lot of rice, I wish there was a little bit more meat. The verdict? We still like HK BBQ Master more. The meat here wasn't quite as flavorful. They gave us another container of the sweet soy sauce which was delicious, but we definitely needed one for each box. The people working here were nice. The line does take a little while to get through. It's a good alternative for HK BBQ Master.

Yelp
Maybe it's because I grew up in the Richmond of LA, so I'm a bit spoiled by all the best Chinese goods. Nonetheless, this is some yummy and solid roasted duck and pork. Even though I intended to go to HK BBQ Master (only to find out they are temporarily closed), I am very happy with Parker Place as well. There was a short line when we arrived, which moved along quite quickly. We ordered the large BBQ Duck and Roasted Pork on Steamed Rice ($12CAD) to-go. Since my parents spoke Chinese, we got the best pieces of meat as well. The meat was tender and flavor was on point. This was such a great dish paired with rice. I only wish they provided some sauce for the duck. Either way, I could imagine what a quick and easy dinner option this could be if I lived near here. There is no seating at all here, so just grab and take home to consume. Note: CASH ONLY although there is an ATM around the corner inside the plaza.
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
The BBQ is so yummy here that it offsets some of the minor inconveniences. Don't let the long lines deter you because it moves quickly. People order, they chop and bag, you pay. Pretty seamless. I think you just have to track your boxes through the process so your order doesn't get lost in the shuffle. The chopping chef has a weird way of weighing. I picked a piece of roast pork and he's telling me it's 2.5 lbs. I'm like how about you weigh it just to be sure. It was closer to 2 lbs. Like are you trying to rip me off or am I supposed to trust your magical powers? Be professional! I'm not at a circus for you to guess my age. How annoying! It helps if you speak Cantonese cause it moves quicker, but some of them speak sufficient English; they just don't want to, which is fine as long as they're OK with me fumbling through my limited Cantonese. I don't like people coming into my home telling me what to speak so all's fair. Oh, CASH ONLY!

JungAh N.

Yelp
Must get the bbq pork jowls here! Slightly gelatinous and the right amount of supple fatty goodness~~ Regular char siu was just okay, not mind blowing like the jowls.
google avatar

Viv P.

Yelp
Popping tasty! Since we're traveling and didn't have a place to keep leftovers, we just got 3 kinds of meats over rice for the 4 of us. It was a lot of food. That said, no one else in the line got rice here. I wouldn't either if I could order again. It's a LOT of rice and a little meat. Get about 1/2 pound of whatever meat you like, and rice on the side if you need rice. They pack in a lot of rice. I guess the only thing is the duck - I'm not sure whether they sell just half or quarter of a duck. I don't see why not. Otherwise it's $25 for a whole roast duck. The BBQ pork was really tasty and the toast pork was good but greasy. The duck was right on cue with just the right amount of tender and crispy. Oh the food in Vancouver makes mr want to live here...
google avatar

Yelp
Long established as one of the best places to buy Chinese BBQ, Parker Place Aberdeen Meat & BBQ has been a go-to spot for my family and friends for multiple decades. Their selection of BBQ meats includes, but is not limited to roast pork, barbeque pork, soya chicken, and roasted duck. Each is prepared daily and quantity varies depending on time of day. Prices has steadily increased over the years, but thankfully the quality continues to be top notch. I picked up some barbeque pork and roast duck to have for dinner. We also picked up some roast pork to snack on immediately to enjoy it's super crispy and not too greasy skin. It's really best eaten while it's still hot and it's a shamne if you leave it in it's container for too long and end up with chewy lackluster skin.

Yelp
The BBQ Pork Sausage was not genuine. We were shocked to see that it was merely a giant Chinese sausage that was sweet with excess fat. The authentic one was supposed to be a little spicy and salty and the meat was different. The BBQ Pork did not look good (the portion of the fat and lean meat affected the texture) and it looked odd (it was orange instead of red). The Roasted Pork was not really flavourful and there was no fat at all (there was supposed to be a little fat with the meat). The man who was chopping the meat kept talking to the previous customer after he asked me what I wanted as I tried to tell him my order. He should finish talking to the previous customer before he asked for my order. It was difficult for me to talk to him because he kept interrupting. He looked away when I talked to him, and he needed me to repeat a few times because he was not paying attention (he was looking at the food). I put the exact amount of cash on the counter. The cashier took the cash and faced the wall. Then he turned around and told me that it was $0.65 and not $0.25. He should tell me that when he saw my cash on the counter and not after he took my cash away from the counter. Furthermore, I asked for 1Ib of each item but they charged me more than 1lb of each item. No wonder they did not have the breakdown of the cost/weight on the receipt (so they could charge you any price they want). I was shocked when I got the receipt; it was unethical. Moreover, they put so much sauce with the food and it leaked into the plastic bag. There should be no sauce with those food. It created a big mess, With their pricing, the service and the quality of food are disappointing.

Yelp
Come here for your char siu fix... Located in the Parker place mall just south of Aberdeen square, it's just a ways to the side of the food court. Look for the long line They have all your meat needs here. Char siu, roast pork, soy sauce chicken and for the more adventurous, intestine and pig ear. Order at the counter, they'll cut it up and off you go. Got a small piece of char siu that was juicy and flavorful
google avatar

Yelp
We were here in the summer and stopped by this place and got Bbq pork, roast duck and roast pork. All were perfectly made. The line was a little long but we were very satisfied with our dinner. Cash only. Parking was easy to find.

Yelp
If you're looking for Hong Kong BBQ meats, this place is a go-to in Richmond. You can tell as there is always a lineup, even at 11 am! I was there on a Friday morning and when I saw that the line was just 5 people, I went for it. Originally, I was just going to get 1 pound of roast pork ($14/lb), but when I saw a fresh batch of soy chicken ($19/chicken) I got both! I asked for 1 pound of roast pork, semi lean/fat, and it came to around 1.2 pounds and a bit on the lean side, which made it a bit less tender than I would have liked. The pork skin was crispy and delicious as always. The soy chicken came with small containers of ginger and onion, and soy sauce. Even by itself, the chicken had enough flavour and the butcher's skill in chopping up the chicken was apparent. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for something to add to your potluck or dinner table. Just be sure to account for the line up time. Christmas and Chinese New Year it's crazy - probably a 25 person line up.

Yelp
There is definitely a hidden gem in Parker place! It's bbq meat!! Anyone tried before? I heard of their name for a long time. Tbh, this is my very first time to give a try for it! As every time there's a long queue outside... I hesitate to do so:P One thing I need to highlight that their takeout box has make a big hole on their cover. It is for keeping their condition in a perfect way. You know what? After I back home(I think after 20-30mins), they are still warm... and those Crispy Pork Belly skin are super crispy!!!! They are totally out of my expectations and I highly recommend this shop to you guys!
google avatar

Yelp
This is my must stop by place in Richmond for BBQ every time I'm in town. Their bbq pork is so delicious, have the right amount of fat and lean meat. The final touch of honey makes it my forever favorite. I also love their free range chicken but they sold out fast. Line is always long outside of the shop for the bbq but the foods you get is worthy the wait. If you buy bbq pork, ask them for an extra yummy sauce!
google avatar

Sylvia Y.

Yelp
Solid 3.5 - Apparently this is THE place to go to for Chinese BBQ items? It must be true because the lineup is consistently starting at the opposite corner of the shopping complex (despite the speedy service, average queue time is 25-30mins). My impatient self tells me that no BBQ items is worth this wait, luckily the roasted pork (siu yook) wasn't terrible. Observing from the outside window, I liked how the staff makes the effort to discard the interesting, non-prime pieces, rather than selling those customers for an extra buck or two. This is also one of a handful of places where the roasted skin portion stays at prime-crisp for hours after leaving the store. At a slightly higher than average per pound price for the BBQ items & an extreme long line up, this is a place that I could live with or without, if there a short line and I'm in the area - sure, why not! Though I wouldn't go out of my way to come.
google avatar

Charlie T.

Yelp
One of my favorite places when visiting BC. The meat here is hands down one of the best I've had! I've been coming here for years and the place is still here and pretty much the same. Its best to go in the mornings before the lines form. Everything from the bbq pork to the roast pork and duck are delicious. The prices are very affordable. You must try if you like pork products!
google avatar

Harry C.

Yelp
Why this place gets such good reviews really baffles me. It's been around for a long time and it's the only BBQ place inside the mall so perhaps customers feel compelled to eat here if they want BBQ items otherwise there really is nothing special about this place. The BBQ pork was just the same as any other place but just a lot sweeter from the honey. The duck was dry and bland. One time is enough for me. There are much better options elsewhere especially in Richmond.
google avatar

Daniel C.

Yelp
This Chinese BBQ / meat counter is located inside the Parker Place mall and attracts lines every time it seems. My parents sometimes take the bus up to Vancouver, but since the stop is a 20-min walk away logistically its hard for them to come here. Today however my bro-in-law rented a car so no problem braving the line to grab some roasted goodies to take back to Seattle! Tip #1: Buy some of the roasted pork belly and keep it in the car - it will function as both an air freshener and appetite stimulant! My mom skillfully cut up the various offerings once we got home. My favorite was the roast duck "Pay Paw Duck" -which was incredibly juicy and had just a tad bit of fat. Second favorite was the braised cuttlefish - crunchy at first, then soft, tender, and seasoned. Lastly, the pork belly tasted just okay - crispy skin but a bit too fatty. Surprising that after a 2.5 hour drive everything was still pretty good.
google avatar

Lauren L.

Yelp
So for years and years this place is hyped up about how good their BBQ meats are and each time I've bought roast pork or BBQ pork from here I've been left with a meh. I'll pass. The last time my mom wanted to try it and we were all disappointed sadly. How sad? I spat out the meat. I couldn't eat it. What??? Yeah. It's either my taste buds have changed or my expectations have elevated past the level of this place. What's crazy is I don't understand why people will continue to lineup for this. Don't get me wrong. I don't pretend to be a bbq snob. It's just not for me or anyone in my family.
google avatar

Edward A.

Yelp
I have only tried this place when my friend gave me take out box and he ensured that it was the best in city - big let down - not best for me but maybe for others - I do have a #1 but I not share that with you - feel free to eat this food :)
google avatar

Carol T.

Yelp
There is always a line here, but it is so worth it! Usually people come here for the BBQ, roast pork and BBQ pork are the usual things I get. I also see a lot of people getting the roast duck here but unfortunately can't bring that down to the states. Their roast pork is so crispy , and not filled with only fat like some places. Definitely try to finish it the day of , but sometimes it's good the next day too. The bbq pork sauce is really good too , perfect with a bowl of rice. Don't bother driving anywhere else in richmond for bbq, this is the place to go .

G S.

Yelp
Beat Char Siu i have in West Coast North America. The long line outside full of Chinese grandmas and grandpas says it all.
google avatar

Alice X.

Yelp
Usually a line but sooooo worth the wait. I love getting their roasted pork, roasted duck and their bbq pork (cha sui). Their meats are always seasoned perfectly and is always fresh. Yes, come here and wait in line!
google avatar

Brian C.

Yelp
This place is legit for Chinese BBQ meat located inside Parker Place!! The roast duck over rice is $11.25 and the roast pork & BBQ pork over rice was $9.75. HK BBQ Master down the street was overhyped and a huge letdown for me. I think the meat quality and flavor is so much better here. Always remember, this place is cash only and the line can be long during peak lunch times.
google avatar

Jess T.

Yelp
Roast pork ("siu yuk") and BBQ pork ("cha siu") by the pound - I knew from a friend that this was what to order. With a stoic expression that reminds me of a particularly stern Cantonese uncle, the person wielding a giant cleaver in the window took my clumsy half-English, half-Cantonese order ("Siu yuk fat or lean?" "Fat", of course), deftly chopped up my choice with the weapon, and packed it into a styrofoam box. Another weighed it and took my cash. This place is cash-only. With toothpicks in hand, we then retired to the food court of Parker Place to enjoy the spoils. Both meats were delicious. The roast pork had the crispiest skin, and was tender and nicely salty. The BBQ pork was its sweeter cousin, coated in the honey sauce, and also cooked to tender perfection.

Yelp
Fantastic cantonese bbq! Found this place on yelp (we were staying at the Westin nearby) and boy did it not disappoint. Tried 3 meats here: bbq pork, roast pork, soy chicken (cha shao, shao rou, you ji). All were great. We got about enough meat for 3 people for the low sum of $16! Expect a line but it moves fast.

Yelp
Some of the best roast pork I've had in my life. Juicy meat, good melting fat and a perfectly crispy skin. Cha siu / BBQ pork has a nice char and they give you a good ladle of sauce which I appreciate. Wish they cut the pork into thicker slices. Prices are decent (see photo). They're open to you choosing your meat. Be always prepared for a lineup. Easy to find, when you go through the front entrance of Parker Place, it's the shop on your right with a line. Will come back here to try their duck and soy chicken.

Yelp
My mom loves this place. She comes and pick up BBQ quite often here. There are always a lineup outside if you go around 4 to 5:30 ish. If you go during Chinese New year or some Chinese Big days then its the whole day there will be a line up. I have to say they do have to best BBQ Pork (Cha Shew) and Roasted Pork. Parking is a hit and miss because Parker Place is quite busy. There are limited free parking at the mall. If you line up, please don't block the fish store or the herbal store on the other side. The owner has couple times got upset. I mean I don't blame him. Great BBQ. Love this place!

Yelp
If there is anything (food wise) I really miss from Hong Kong, it's Cantonese style roasted meats (燒味). Many foods can be replicated outside of HK, such as Dim Sum, banquet style Cantonese cuisine, but very seldomly does one find a dedicated Canto BBQ of this caliber. While it's true one could easily rock a pound of Char Siu BBQ Pork in any Chinese enclave community in North America, there is always some aspect that is missing in flavor and preparation. Only here in Vancouver have I found the variety and flavor that gets it close to the real deal in HK. Enter Parker Place's Meat & BBQ shop aka, 魂感肉食 (Wan Gam Yuk Sik!), a typical English name with a not-so-common Chinese one. This place is indeed special. First off, there is always a line. Typically people are waiting anywhere from 25 minutes to a full blown hour. I am sure the neighboring empty stores at Parker Place are in awe of the queue that wraps around the hallways on any given day. The hype is real; lines in these parts indicate something delicious is waiting at the end. What have we learned? If at all possible, arrive early. The other bonus is availability. Most popular meats run out by mid-afternoon. Secondly, this is not just a shop, but a true butcher shop. They have cooked meats, uncooked meats, a variety of animal parts, and will sell it however you want it. Most people are here to score the usual variety: bbq pork (叉燒), roast duck (燒鴨), crispy pork belly (燒肉), soya chicken (豉油雞). Lucky folks might be able to score roasted goose (燒鵝) and potentially orange cuttlefish (鹵水墨魚), but those are always limited in availability. For all the other meats, I had thought that other local butchers might have an edge on the pricing, but really prices here are still pretty affordable for pig / bird / beef parts exclusively. Whether it's for making a soup or adding to the variety at a BBQ, the options here are very impressive. Lastly, the guys behind the counter are awesome. Speaking Cantonese is obviously the preferred lingo here, but a bit of pointing-at-the-menu for our English speaking friends may do one well here. Keep in mind it is cash only and *always* be prepared to wait. It may seem like they're the only Siu Mei game in town, but in reality, they're just the best.

Yelp
The setting: Hot pre-summer afternoon in early June, and it's a long line up snaked into the front of the next vendor store. Little Old Lady (LOL), about 70 years old, lines up behind me who didn't speak any English. The English subtitled version: LOL: There's an awful lot of people in this line. How long is this going to be? Me thnking: (*It's always a good thing to use a situational opener to start a conversation with someone you want to hit on*) Me: It's not too bad. I've been here for 5 mins. Be patient. I'm on my phone not really paying attention to the LOL. She says something else to me but I'm too absorbed in my phone to make out what she says. Obviously I didn't respond. She retreats on her approach. We continue to wait in line. Dude in front of me asks for BBQ pork, but "leaner" instead of the half lean half fat. My turn. Me to the butcher: Lean please. All lean. LOL: Lean? That doesn't taste good at all!! Me thinking: (OK, she's re-engaging hoping something may come out of this exchange. Fine, I'll play along) Me: That's your opinion. Lean is good . Too much fat, you get fat. Eat lean, you stay lean. (I start doing exaggerated muscle poses and flexing to her.) LOL giggles like a 16 year old and can't contain herself. Butcher behind the counter laughs and says, "Don't blame me if it doesn't taste good." Me: I'll never blame you because I'm lean. LOL giggles some more. My parting shot to her, "When you can eat, you are fortunate". It's a Chinese idiom which I cannot translate, but that's the best translation I can come up with. She blushes. I walk. The moral? If you're male, come here if you want LOL's to chat you up. Be prepared to banter a bit with them, wear some fitted clothing, and have your A-game with you. Don't forget to get the full on lean BBQ pork

Yelp
Having read the reviews of this place from fellow yelp comrades, I expected some delicious meat and my expectations were met. The doors open at 11am and we got there around 10.40am and there was already a huge line up. I ordered the roast pork and bbq pork on rice while my friend got the roast pork and bbq duck on rice. The people slicing up the meats were very fast and we were checking out in no time. We both opted for the small portion and it was more than enough. It was also served with some sauce, which to a pleasant surprise, it was not too salty. I personally prefer my roast pork with the least amount of fat and it was exactly like that. I loved the crispy skin so much that I wished I could only purchase that part of the pork. As for the bbq pork, it was also delicious. Not too dry and perfectly grilled. I tried a piece of bbq duck and it was exquisite. The meat was soft and chewy, such a bliss. The reason why I am allocating only four stars to this place is that we came back 30mins before its closing time on the same day, wanting to get some take outs for dinner. To our disappointment, it was closed. So if you are planning on getting your dinner take outs, you should head there at least an hour before just in case.

Yelp
This isn't a restaurant but more like a butchery that has cooked food and raw meat. Note that it isn't glamorous but certainly fulfills your hk bbq cravings. This place is legit so be prepared to whip out your cantonese. While waiting in line, we noticed that most of the patrons are long time customers and brought gifts to the owner. I got the bbq pork and soy sauce chicken rice and the boyf got the bbq pork and roasted pork. Both are served with extra seasoned soy sauce on the side which is a plus since they give you so much rice. All sauces on the meat are on point but growing up in LA I'm used to the prices so even with the currency conversion, it's still a bit pricey for what it is. TIP: Cash only. They take USD but it will be a 1:1 ratio.

Yelp
There's a reason this place ALWAYS has a line. Seriously, though, it's totally worth the wait. Hands down some of THE best roast pork, duck, and Chinese sausage I've ever had. The roast pork is perfectly seasoned and has awesomely crispy, crackly skin. The line moves fast, and it's cash only. I can only imagine how much meat they go thru every day. If you're in the area, get here, and order yourself a pound of roast pork ASAP.

Yelp
This place is in an odd location, it's actually inside of a mall called Parker Place, but it could be normal since most of the shops in this mall aren't to the norm of shopping malls. First thing that's noticed is the line formation that is out the door and onto the next shop, it was pretty long but moves pretty quickly. Typical Chinese barbeque items available and shop set up is very typical too, made me reminisce to the shops in Hawaii, Hong Kong, China. We came about an hour before closing and they didn't have much left, sold out in the char siu! Must've been a popular item! Made it just in time though to get the remaining half of a roast duck and one lb of roast pork (the butcher asks you if you would like less or more fatty cut), of course we went for the more fatty cut, roast pork is da best with that fat! Now taste, the roast pork was bacon heaven! Not overly salty, skin was still air crispy, and that fat in it was so succulent and juicy! One con that people may say about it is that there is still bone in the roast pork, but this is very traditional way that the roast pork is made and cut. Next the roast duck, just as good but I guess I'd say duck heaven? This is how whenever I see ducks at the park to be cooked lol. Skin was crispy, fat underneath the skin still puffy and juicy, the meat was not at all dry even the breast meat was not dry! The long line is already an indication that this place is bomb. Also they only take cash! So stock up on some paper!
