The 38 Essential Vancouver Restaurants

"For a city that boasts such jaw-clangingly gorgeous views, Vancouver doesn’t have too many rooftop bars. But the Parker Rooftop, the relatively new player atop the Parker Hotel, is aiming to change that. Take the elevator and stroll through the large, living room-styled restaurant to find a trio of patios, including a spiffy take on a Cabo-style beach bar. Stop by for the daily happy hour or discount wine Wednesday (when some excellent bottles are 50 percent off), start with some sliders or cute fish and chip cones, and order a superb steak when sunset hits. Wrap up the evening with classic desserts such as baked Alaska for two." - Nikki Bayley

Gorgeous rooftop with plenty of seating inside and out. Def a very upscale spot so dress up as they also do a have a dress code. They have a great happy hour menu everyday from 3-6 and sundays 3-11pm with live music starting at 7pm. The oysters are $1.50 and they have drink specials and small food plates. Seating is very comfortable and staff are friendly. When we came they were a bit understaffed so it took awhile to get items but they were very kind and courteous. Highly recommend coming for the drinks, views and food. Stunning!

Atmosphere here is great, I’d highly recommend coming on Sunday for their happy hour and live music! The truffle fries and cocktails were great. Service was quite slow, but maybe we came on a busy night! Our servers were lovely and offered us complementary bubbly and a second round of sliders after some mistakes from the kitchen.

Google
Parker Rooftop has a great vibe, perfect for summer patios. The atmosphere and views, especially around dusk, are beautiful and make it a fun spot to hang out. Our server was amazing, friendly without being overly attentive. The drinks are playful and fun to look at, though the food was a bit mid for the price. Still, you’re really going here more for the experience and ambiance than the culinary excellence. Would definitely recommend for the vibes, views, and drinks, especially on a warm evening.

This restaurant holds a special place for me because I got to see my friend here after a year apart she had just come from Miami. While the vibe wasn’t exactly my usual favorite style, the portions were generous compared to market prices, and the food was actually quite tasty. Overall, it was a nice experience!

Google
Great rooftop with good view of the harbour. Servers were very friendly. Happy hour specials were reasonable with 4 dishes and 5 drinks for just over $100 plus tip. Would recommend

I hosted my birthday for 12 people on the private patio at 7 PM on a Saturday. The space was really pretty and aesthetic. Our server, Upi, was super friendly and fun. The event manager was also very responsive and sent me patio options to choose from. I’ll definitely be back!

Google
Thank you for such a lovely birthday experience. Thank you to Arcie, one of the managers that was very personable and kind. Parker rooftop was incredible and I’ll be back for my next photoshoot soon ;) XOXO @sherinlalani.official

Google
Was really excited to check out Parker Rooftop with a friend for dinner and drinks. The place is gorgeous and the small patio is super cute. Drinks looked fun but tasted just okay. Unfortunately, we ended up leaving after 20 minutes because two girls next to us kept staring and making comments. Kinda killed the vibe. Atmosphere gets 1 star for that - just didn’t feel comfortable.

Yelp
I cannot say enough positive things about Parker Rooftop. To start, the staff are incredibly attentive and ensured every detail of our visit was taken care of. At one point, my phone was dying and the battery pack I had brought decided to stop working. The staff were kind enough to plug in my phone for me inside and watch it while it charged. Additionally, they made sure our glasses were not empty and made sure to recommend some fantastic food and drink options for us. As we were there on a Wednesday, we ordered one of their bottles of wine as it was 50% off. It happened to be a great bottle at a bargain price. We then ordered a few different appetizers including the fish and chip cones, the truffle fries, and the sliders. The fish and chip cones were so unique and had great flavours. They were crispy, bright, and left you wanting more. The truffle fries were as expected, yummy and a solid classic. The sliders looked like they would be a little dry, but ended up being well prepared and delicious. We managed to get a table on their beautiful patio, which even afforded us a small view of the celebration of lights fireworks (an added bonus for the night). I will be back here for sure!

Yelp
We came here for Happy Hour on our anniversary. I was looking for a Happy Hour place since we had a heavy lunch beforehand and decided on Parker Rooftop. We parked on the street about a block away. It wasn't too busy since it was a weekday. The drinks were great! My favorite was the Golden Hour. I ordered a couple of them. I wasn't a fan of the Aperol Spritz, but I was able to return it. My boyfriend ordered a Parker Mule. For food, we ordered two dozen oysters and caviar. It was our first time trying caviar, and since it was half off, why not? It was an interesting experience, and the servers gave us tips on how they prefer to eat caviar. It's not bad. My boyfriend didn't like the taste of the oysters, though. They gave us chocolates to celebrate our anniversary, which was a nice end to our visit!

Yelp
We came for happy hour on a Thursday and it was pretty empty. It started to fill up around 5:30pm. Golden hour ($12)- the passionfruit drink was pretty delicious. The gold flakes gave it that golden hour vibe. Very well thought out and easy to go down. A bit too sweet for me Caviar ($50)- the caviar came with the usual little blinis, creme fraiche/sour cream, chives. I would have liked capers and I felt like the egg white and egg yolk didn't really go with it. It would also fall off too easily. But overall I felt like this dish would be great for sharing among friends. The fish and chip cones ($12) - were definitely not the favorite of the table. The fish wasn't crispy and the rice was overcooked and tasted too strongly of vinegar. The wrap on the outside added nothing texturally. There would be no flavour if it wasn't for the soy sauce. I also didn't like the (what tasted like mayonnaise) sauce on the inside. It felt out of place. I would skip this next time The parker sliders ($12) were okay. Felt like it was missing a little more vegetable and the beef patty was dry. Service was really good. Very attentive and nice. Drinks came out fast but food was a bit slower. Server was able to answer all questions. Would recommend this place for caviar and drinks. I would try the oysters next time.

Yelp
We went it wasn't packed . We got sat without a reservation. They give you complementary sparkling wine when you're waiting. I love the decor and atmosphere our waitress was very friendly and welcoming. They are a bit on the pricey side, but they offer happy hour I believe from 3 to 6 so you can get some cocktails and appetizers. They have some great views of the city.

Yelp
The live singer created such ambiance and she was amazing. I went only for drinks so I can't rate the food- though I heard its great. I love a rooftop bar with city views and the Parker was that. The service was friendly and attentive. Even the patrons were friendly stirring up a conversation.

Yelp
Parker Rooftop stands out as a true gem - because of the staff. Atop the Executive Hotel, this place boasts breathtaking views (& construction :) ) and delivers an unforgettable experience Sure, was a short wait, hence reservations necessary, but when Blake stepped in, just happened to be the GM, that infectious enthusiasm, professionalism, and Aussie flair, set the tone for the evening. He steered expertly through the menu, highlighting specialties and providing knowledgeable recommendations. I'd revisit, just to chat with Blake. Alpper, the bar manager, the expert in all things 'drink' and Mexico, ensured seamless service, discreetly checking in on us as we savored each allotted drink. You want the Golden Hour, Strawberry Aperol, and Midnight Margarita Our culinary journey began with an array of flavors and textures. The oysters were impeccably fresh, each one a burst of briny ocean essence. The fish cones, a creative reinterpretation of a classic, were light and crispy, filled with delicate white fish complemented by a vibrant aioli. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the ribeye steak. Cooked to a perfect medium-rare, it featured a beautiful sear and tender melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Accompanied by four distinct sauces ranging from robust demi-glace to tangy chimichurri, each bite showcased the chef's skill. No dining is complete without desserts. The caramel mousse cigars were decadent, with a rich chocolate shell ...way to a creamy caramel filling. The baked Alaska, pure finesse, light and airy meringue, chilled ice cream, topped with a caramelized exterior. Parker transcends dining; it's an experience. While Blake and his team's attentive service make you feel valued, each dish is artistry, fresh, and tasty. Simply seeking a memorable outing, Parker Rooftop is the MUST-VISIT... it's now my absolute favorite spot.

Yelp
Wow! HH all day at Parker Rooftop (ahem they open at 3pm). Went out on a foodie two parter for some good grub. We really indulge ourselves to almost becoming an American Oystercatcher (that is a bird ppl) yesterday. Overall between the Golden Hour (Vodka base citrus bevy) and oysters on the comfy coaches, the staff was engaging, we Vancouver was having a great Sunday weather, it was immensely enjoyable. Another amiable note, I forgot my sunglasses and they called us right away. .5 star off as the diet soda tasted super weak 4.5/5 Food 5/5 Service

Marin L.

Yelp
All fur coat no knickers, I'm afraid. Tried to be sophisticated, but that's just a very hard sell in Vancouver. Food is good, but nothing special and way overpriced. Made the mistake of coming on a Saturday night and it was packed with groups of women drinking cocktails and shrieking. No dress code, so it's Chinese people in tracksuits, Iranians looking like melted versions of Kim Kardashian and couples who are questioning why they chose this place. Just don't, it's trying to be something it's not and you pay a premium for a very ordinary venue.

Yelp
Wonderful happy hour experience here. $18 a dozen oysters. Almost half off selection of drinks? And... discounted appetizers. Place was indeed bougier than I expected. A bride to be was celebrating here. It was raining though and we didn't get seated outdoors on the patio as we hoped. Though we did get promptly seated by the window and was treated to a lovely view of the construction site across. The dozen oysters are a must get, usually $40+. Fresh and sweet. And the Parker sliders were absolutely cute bite sized burgers, each with medium rare patty sandwiched between light toasty brioche bread.

Yelp
What a fun vibe to enjoy drinks and appies on a rooftop patio overlooking Vancouver downtown. We went for happy hour on Sunday when they also had live music during dinner. They had a great happy hour and dinner menu. Amy was the best server! She was accommodating and so thoughtful from turning on the heated lamps to ensuring we got second round of drinks before happy hour ended. She also kindly split our bills separately for food and drinks. I would love to come back and enjoy the warm hospitality again. Also a bonus, valet is complimentary if you dine here.

Yelp
met up with my girlies on a saturday night for happy hour at 4:45 pm on the rooftop patio. it was a perfect 24 degrees, and the patio was super comfy. located at 1379 howe, right at the corner of howe and pacific street, the parker rooftop is on the 9th floor, formerly the executive hotel, vintage park. the place is part of the table group family, boasting three separate patios, floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views of the city and ocean. it's got that upscale elegance but still feels laid-back enough for a fun night out. the ambiance was spot-on for happy hour. major shout out to beau, our server, who was totally on his a-game and took amazing care of us. we decided to order everything on the happy hour menu. the oysters were super fresh, though they varied in size, with some smaller than others. they came with horseradish, mignonette, and a wedge of lemon. the fish and chip cones were tasty but a bit tricky to eat, filled with rice, crispy tempura, pickled ginger, cucumber, and tartar, it fell apart when we picked it up. the mushroom arancini, balls of arborio rice stuffed with mushrooms, coated in breadcrumbs, and fried to perfection--definitely the highlight with their perfect flavour, texture, and creaminess. the truffle fries were generously portioned, golden and crisp with garlic aioli, though the truffle flavour was very faint. the parker sliders featured wagyu beef with garlic aioli, pickle, and lettuce and were just okay, nothing special. we had an unforgettable evening filled with lively conversation, laughter, and pure fun. we were giddy with excitement, to learn of my girlfriend's engagement, and beau surprised us with celebratory glasses of champagne. to top it off, he even comped us three bite-sized chocolate cake, which we devoured before the forks could even make it to the table. the vibe was fantastic, the company unbeatable, and the service top-notch. happy hour runs from 3 to 6, and all day sunday, because why limit happy to just an hour?

Yelp
The drinks were so fun and delish! The dessert we got was so great with the flambe. Our server was amazing, and we enjoyed chatting with her. The patio closes early so we opted for the inside. Not much of a rooftop view but regardless, it was a lovely place!

Yelp
Great setting and service, overlooks the city from its rooftop bar/ lounge. Food it seems comes up from a downstairs kitchen via the elevator leaving items prone to being overcooked . I would say the food in general was good, the only issue is the overpriced steaks come out medium or medium well by the time it gets to your table and is eaten, and overall it was quite rubbery. Great drink options!

Yelp
This has been on my list to visit for the past little while because it was popping off on my socials for the past year. They did such a big hype of this place that it was all over my socials for a whole month, it was calling for me so I had to do a happy hour at this place with my gays and my girlfriend. Surprisingly my gays didn't show up, they are not invited to HH again, so their fault, but me and my girlfriend had a fantastic time here. I didn't know it was going to be such a bougie vibe and on top of that, I wasn't expecting the waiters to all look amazingly dapper too. It almost felt like I travelled in time to the 1980. I enjoyed the décor and the small tables but I know those tables don't have enough space to eat on for sure. It surely is a bar environment instead of eating, when their menu is stacked with delicious food!! I love our server Charles, he was dapper and handsome. Charles was attentive and extremely friendly with us the whole time we were there. And he would answer a lot of questions that I had about the menu that night too. Me and my girlfriend literally ATE when we were here. We ordered cocktails and more cocktails, while devouring tons of shucked oysters for the whole time. And because the gays weren't there, we literally ate their portions too AHAHAHA! We were literally dedicating a whole Sunday to just DEVOUR oysters. We were getting so many looks from the skinny people in the restaurant that whole day, but we had 1 amazing cheer leader server who was like, YES EAT FOOD! I kinda laughed when he walked by. He was cool. The oysters were anything special, but it was such a good deal we might as well, and they were shucked well. I did once got a large piece of shell in my oyster, but I am happy we are giving the kitchen practice on how to shuck those oysters. LOL Anyways, I had a fantastic time, and maybe next time I will be back for more oysters or maybe sit at the patio and party it out with my gays.

Yelp
The vibe was awesome! Came for girls night. Our server Leena made the night ~ she was on top of it and had great recommendations and a positive attitude. Will definitely be back!!!

Yelp
This review is solely to comment on the vibes and the fries (that rhymes!) I came with friends who ordered cocktails and delicious-looking drinks, but since I don't really drink, I ordered the Truffle fries. The fries were cooked to perfection. The outside stayed crisp, while the inside was soft. Though I found them a bit too salty, the parmesan on top was a nice umami add. There was also a mayo or creamy sauce for dipping, which helped to balance out the salt. Yum! (My friends noted that the drinks were really good!) The ambiance felt quite fancy since it was on a rooftop. The couches were lush, along with wide lounge chairs and low tables. Lighting was ambient (a bit dim) which set the mood for fancy times.

Yelp
Very nice rooftop bar for happy hour, wish we had made a reservation as it was a perfect day to be out on the patio but we got bar seats and enjoyed the fish and chip cones, nice to have it with soy paper but the fish tempura to rice proportion was off and mushroom arancini which was so delicious. It was made of arborio, wild & cultivated mushrooms, and it had aioli, grana padano, and truffle. We had a round of bubbles and then switched to rose when we ordered the dozen oysters. Make a reservation if you want a table during happy hour as they get busy.
google avatar

KC C.

Yelp
You're greeted downstairs by the doorman who will confirm your reservation and then sends you up the elevator. Fabulous place for date night or a girls night. The rooftop views, the ambiance is all around classy and elegant vibes. We initially came in for cocktails but decided to grab small bites and had to move to a table to eat comfortably. The service was perfect and he came to check on us often which we appreciated. Overall, perfect setting and view of the city.

Yelp
We came to Parker Rooftop for NYE and had a blast. They really went all out to provide a top-quality experience during our visit including great craft cocktails, music, entertainers, a welcome drink, and more. They even had oysters and caviar throughout the night and a sirloin cutting station. They thought of pretty much everything! We love the midnight countdown and the go-go dancers who were dressed like Marilyn Monroe. The outside deck was covered and filled with heaters and party favors. It wasn't too crazy and certainly much better than being in a nightclub. The waitress was really friendly, she attended us well all night and stayed busy, but attentive. The security personnel were friendly at the door too. I really enjoyed every service interaction. I will come back one day for more food and cocktails and hopefully to stay at the Parker Hotel as well. Great time!

Josh B.

Yelp
This place was really cool. They brought us Champagne when we were seated. They oysters were good! Our server was very professional and entertaining. And the ribeye table service was impressive. The view and temperature control for a whole roof top was impressive and comfortable. If you are in the area and have time try this place out!!

Yelp
While we may be in October. Parker Rooftop launched their grand opening back in August with a new feel for luxury and comfort. The staff are so sweet, polite, and ready to provide a VIP experience for their customers. I can't forget how their cocktails and food left such a great impression on me. I had to bring my boyfriend for his birthday and my girlfriend for a drink or three. Speaking of; Drinks are a state of the art for Parker Rooftop. Indulge in their selection from beautifully made cocktails to a variety of wines. The food is so visually appealing as well as tasteful. I am very fond of this place and I cannot wait to come back! 10/10 Recommend

Yelp
We celebrated a wonderful moms night out at the Parker Rooftop hotel. The drinks- strawberry aperol spritz and the golden hour- were delicious. The hostess, Lais, was always helpful and very gracious. The views - gorgeous city lights- are breathtaking. The oysters are scrumptious and they treated us like royalty! Definitely worth a visit. You won't regret it!

Yelp
Came here for happy hour and it did not disappoint. All the food on the happy hour menu was delicious, especially the mushroom arancini. We love sitting at the bar and taking with the bartenders and watching them mix drinks. Everyone was super friendly and service was great. Views of the city are fun if you sit by the windows or patio

Claire W.

Yelp
So bummed, I came out of my way to this bar on my birthday and it was closed for a private event. I even checked their Instagram before going and there was nothing about the closure and they post frequently.

Priscilla V.

Yelp
The ambiance here is amazing, we were staying at the hotel and made reservations to have drinks and a quick bite and we were satisfied with our experience. We were extremely impressed by the Caesar salad, honestly probably one of the best Caesar salads I've ever had. The lettuce was crisp, the dressing was clearly homemade and the Parmesan crisps added an incredible texture. The fish and chip cones were a bit underwhelming but not horrible, they just lacked texture and flavor. The drinks were really good and refreshing. We went on a Sunday night and a Monday night. On Sunday they had live music and the performer was so talented! On Mondays they have happy hour all day! To drink, I got the golden hour and a martini with tequila that was made by our server. My partner got various different drinks and liked all of them. For dessert we got the Parker cigars, and the presentation was so cool! I would definitely come here again if I'm ever visiting Vancouver.

Yelp
Last night at the hotel and the kiddos wanted a dessert to end our trip on a high note. When we got to the rooftop, the hostesses looked at us and whispered to each other. It looked like they pretended to check if tables were available. The kids were getting rowdy waiting. They then came up and said no tables are available and minors cannot be in the restaurant after 10. It was 9:30. We left embarrassed and our son was upset.

Yelp
Amazing new rooftop patio! What a chill and stylish space with epic staff and service. I met so many staff members, everyone was so friendly and genuine. I had a wonderful happy hour experience at this brand new bar and lounge. I feel very lucky to share this amazing new spot with the world. This is where class and chill vibes meet!! We arrived post pride parade, so what a nice step back from the crazy, busy bustle of pride madness. This patio is a super niche rooftop with city view, tall buildings and you're tucked down in it's beauty. Intimate, quiet and completely brand new, having opened just two weeks ago. The patio furniture is new of course and actually comfortable. This is a wonderful spot to enjoy cocktails with friends and would make a romantic date place. My group, which was NOT so quiet and possibly a little annoying, were well looked after by both servers, Kate and Peter. They were amazing and tolerant lol! What an experience to come to such a great place before it likely explodes! This will be one of Vans top patios to visit, real quick. The menu is super small, but it's only two weeks old. They already mentioned menu growth and I made a couple suggestions ofc. I'd love to see some calamari and a pizza of some kind. A seafood style pizza would fit right in with the Oyster Motoyaki, which we enjoyed a couple orders of. HAPPY HOUR runs 3-6pm. Happy hour drinks are a steal $6 champagne, red, rose and white wine. The wine is a french vineyard I am not familiar with, but quite good. I did take snap of the HH menu so have a look. I hope it grows with more HH food features. The onion dip was very good, but I didn't love the chips. They very small and crumbly. Pita chips or warm pita and veggies would be better :). The mini beef slider burgers were bomb, so good in fact, I think a super sized version would make a great dinner entre! I can't wait to come back to see what's new on the menu!! Check it out!

Samuel M.

Yelp
Service was slow, took 20 minutes to receive our beer. Felt like they didn't want to deal with us as we were not eating

Barbara G.

Yelp
Went for happy hour on a Saturday, after reading glowing reviews. Solid 4 all around. Good service, good food, good atmosphere, good value. No real wow that others may have experienced. It was very young and loud. Might try another night when there's music or even a rainy evening inside.

Theodora R.

Yelp
This spot boasts of its outdoor patios that showcase the remarkable views above the city, but because of the night rain, we ate inside. This is a great place for a first date. We were surprised that the menu had mostly small plates, but we were pleasantly very satisfied with the sliders, fries, and steak. As good as our meal was, we could not get over how delicious and the dessert was! Great find! Check it out!

Lily L.

Yelp
The views of downtown are spectacular and the service that Upi provided us was amazing. The cocktails are colourful and very good. The appetizers are small but delicious. We had the oyster dish which was cool and delectable as it came with dry ice and the servers made a show of it. We also ate the burger sliders, and some other tasty dishes. The only thing is that I wish the portions were bigger and I was told that they'll be expanding their menu as this is a new place and they're still figuring out the logistics of everything. I would recommend eating dinner beforehand and then going to this place for the drinks and ambience. This is a place to be seen and people are friendly. I would recommend this place to my friends and I would go back too
