"It's hard to have a list like this and not mention the Omni Parker House. Built in 1855, the hotel saw a slew of famous visitors, like Dickens, Emerson, and Kennedy — and people who later became famous also worked there, like Vietnamese revolutionary leader Ho Chi Minh, who was a baker, and Malcolm X, who was a busboy. Also, it gave the world Boston cream pie and Parker House rolls. You're welcome, world." - Erika Adams, Katie Chudy

"One of the most decidedly Boston dishes bears the city’s name and dates all the way back to 1856. Originally called the chocolate cream pie, the Boston cream pie — which is actually a cake — was born at Parker’s Restaurant at the Omni Parker House, where it’s still available. Parker’s also created the fluffy, ubiquitous Parker House roll." - Eater Staff

Had to stop in to try a piece of the "original" Boston Cream Pie (BCP). In total the experience was "okay". Went for lunch on a weekday. The atmosphere can feel a little stuffy. The place was nearly empty, so we got seated right. The server was efficient, but not overly friendly. We ordered some ice teas. We got a basket of Parker Rolls, these were warm, yeasty and pleasure to eat. We ordered a few items including: Clam Chowder, very thick and a little too salty. A Frittata that didn't seem very fresh, and was overly dense, and a waldorf salad that was pretty good. We shared a pie of the pie, which is not a wedge slice, but made for a single serving, round, and coated with almonds. It was a bit dry and just "okay". So now we know, go somewhere else if you are looking for a better piece of BCP. Glad that we stopped in to check it out.

Don’t try eating here if you’re in a hurry! The hostess (maybe manager?) was amazing-she was on top of making sure our order was taken & that everything was perfect. We had the French onion soup, the monte cristo with homemade chips & fries, Parker house rolls, & of course, the Boston cream pie (which is more like cake). They invented it so I guess they can make it how they want! Everything was really good & the atmosphere was old school elegant.

Google
Bucket list visit - I wanted to try the original Parker House Roll and the Boston Cream Pie. The roll - amazing, and most places I've had a parker house roll only dream of being this good. The pie, not a pie, more of a... cupcake, and a bit lacking in the wonderful creamy filling that I was hoping for - good, but no wow there. The rest of breakfast was quite good, but also no wows. Service was impeccable. The space is stunning. Pricey.

Sure, the dining room is historic and gorgeous. Yes, the food is delicious. But what makes this restaurant so special are the people who work here. I remember some of them from a visit ten years ago. This speaks volumes about the way employees are treated. They are all so professional, friendly, and know how to make you feel welcome. The highlight of the breakfasts each morning for my seven-year-old was getting to see the manager, Patricia. For some reason he just hit it off with her. She asked him questions, made him laugh, and he felt special. One day, we returned to our hotel room to find she had sent up some treats. It was a great surprise and big hit with my son. We will cherish our memories of this restaurant.

Google
I received their Boston Cream Pie on Goodbelly since I’m out of town, it was absolutely delicious! I’ve had it in person as well but it was wonderful to get it, it was so carefully packaged and arrived perfectly.

Tried the boston cream cake which was delicious if not slightly underwhelming. An important part of patisserie history regardless

Google
If you ask for Parker House rolls they will bring you some and they are incredible! Like no other roll you have had. So definitely try that. The Boston Cream Pie was also perfection. Pretzel french toast is also worth a try. The salt v sweet is delicious. Excellent, friendly staff made us feel very welcome.

Google
Out of this world breakfast in a location full of history. The Parker rolls and boston cream pie were both invented here and are a must try. I also suggest the corn beef and hash. While not as impressive as the rolls or pie, it was great. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and unlimited refills. The coffee wasn't the best, especially company to the numerous shops in the vicinity.

Jacob M.

Yelp
Such a great, historic place. When we went here I asked to be seated at the same table that JFK proposed to Jaqueline Kennedy. For breakfast we got the corn beef hash and the French toast. Both were good. For dessert, we of course had to try the Boston Cream Pie, which was first created at the Parker House Restaurant. This was a very memorable breakfast!

Yelp
I came here for a Saturday brunch. And service was smooth, and there was a nice selection of brunch foods options including omelettes and pancakes. It's a very beautiful restaurant with tall ceilings inside the hotel. It felt very historic. The highlight of the meal was the Boston cream pie. I can see why people visit here for this. The only small thing to note is that if you come for a Saturday brunch, they technically start closing around 2pm. We had a 1pm reservation, and they let us stay until 2:45pm but they had to ask us to leave as they were clearing up. Still, it was a good experience.

Yelp
So on my trip to Boston, I made it a point to make it to Parker's, specifically for the Boston Cream Pie. Wow!! Hands down the best one I tried while I was there. Not to Mention, Bob H. made the experience so much better by being so attentive and informative. He shared a wealth of knowledge and history in the short time I crammed this Pie down my throat. If you get the opportunity to meet him, talk to him, trust me! Now, to the pie. Boston Cream Pie - This dessert came out beautifully plated, on a bed of dessert suaves and paired with fresh berries, this delivered! Spider design on top, perfectly mastered Chocolate technique, the Pistachios complimented it extremely well, the Custard was soft and velvety, high notes of Vanilla. Everything you could ask for in the dish and very well presented. If you're in Boston and want to try the iconic, official state dessert, no need to venture any further than Parker's Restaurant. If you do, make it a point to compare to this masterpiece. Absolutely amazing. On top of that, the staff is amazing and classy, it's a beautiful restaurant, just wow. Enjoy!!

Yelp
Lovely, classy, elegant historic bar and restaurant. It's allegedly the place where the Boston Cream Pie was invented. Delicious crab cakes, clam chowder, and the bartenders know how to serve drinks. That should be a ridiculous statement to make, but in 2024, one just can't take for granted that bartenders know how to make and serve a proper vodka martini. If you visit Boston, you have to dine here at least once, and you must try the original Boston Cream Pie. I did, and I didn't really like it, but the imitators have come a long way from the original.

Alan G.

Yelp
We had breakfast here because of the Boston cream pie. I had the Boston's best corned beef hash which I have to agree that it was the best I've ever had. The wife had the French toast and she thought it was good. I don't know if you would get a bad French toast anywhere. The service was excellent and we heard about the table JFK proposed to Jackie and they showed us where it was. It was an older restaurant and hotel so it has some history behind it including the Boston cream pie which was phenomenal. Interesting enough there is a website you can order it from including other famous restaurants. It wasn't cheap but I wanted to share it with my family.

Ethan G.

Yelp
Came here because this is the place that had the first ever crème pie... but sometimes ancient things should stay ancient. I will first say that their website is not updated and says that jackets are preferred for men and those without collared shirts or wearing shorts will not be allowed in. We called just to confirm dress code and found out that that was not the case. The pie itself was stale and oddly lukewarm (which is weird for a custard). It wasn't flavorful at all and the best part was putting it in the whipped cream to get some semblance of texture and flavor. Half of our table got strawberries with their cake while half didn't. The service was also slow and our server clearly did not want to be there. The lady pouring waters was excellent.

Becca M.

Yelp
Food was solid with very attentive service and classic dishes. For a tourist experience this was a fun stop albeit not a culinary destination. I had clam chowder (the cup was huge!) and Ceasar salad (slightly over dressed but tasty). My friend's Waldorf salad was full of variety and nicely sized. My daughter had the grilled chicken sandwich - ok not great. The Parker house rolls, invented here, were also just ok. The Boston Cream pie was tasty. Overall the atmosphere and food both felt stodgy.

Rahi Y.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast, although there not so many options to choose from. Portions are big enough to keep the dinners full for good portion of they. They have nicest staff and will go above and beyond to make you dinning experiment, memorable. The dining room is historic, with old paintings and lots of dark wood. If you are staying at the OMNI Parker, do not miss this place.

Michael K.

Yelp
My wife and I spent the weekend at the Omni Parker House and enjoyed a great breakfast in their restaurant. On a cold January Sunday, the dining room was less than half full around 930 am. Steeped in history, the old room was beautifully maintained. We loved the white tablecloths, fine china, and cutlery at our table. Our server got us started with drinks before taking our order. My wife got decaf coffee, and I the largest glass of grapefruit juice ever. We both ordered the American breakfast of eggs, toast, bacon/sausage, and potatoes. Our breakfast arrived quickly and was beautifully presented. My scrambled eggs were in a small skillet surrounded by the sides on a large plate. It was very colorful, with bright reds, yellows, and browns. It tasted just as fresh as it looked. I especially enjoyed the peppers and onions mixed with the potatoes hiding under the eggs. Service was attentive and a team effort. We enjoyed everything about our breakfast.

Marc R.

Yelp
I expected more to be honest out of the original Boston Crème. I prefer the one from Dunkin Doughnuts instead. The hotel lobby and the bar interior is quite regal though.

Dawn W.

Yelp
Just because a place is famous for creating the first of something, doesn't mean it's the best! I searched their website before coming to Boston so I could get some Boston cream pie and Parker house rolls; I could only find hours from 7-2, but nothing specific about anything but the hotel. After walking over a mile from my hotel, I asked a doorman where to go, I was directed to a coffee shop. Nothing about the place said it was affiliated with Parker House, but they had mini Boston cream pies. I told the lady there I wanted a whole pie, but was told I needed to give 48 hours notice! Nothing on the website said that! I went inside to the restaurant and was told the same thing. I had no choice there but to get the mini version. I foolishly got 6 on my last day there at $10 each and wished I just went to a real bakery and got a better one. I understand that traditionally, there isn't any ganache on the sides, but these cakes are so bland and dry, the nuts on the outside just make it drier and it doesn't have any flavor. On the inside, there is barely any pastry cream. I will never go back there again!

Yelp
Personally, I wasn't a fan. It was cool to go to such a historial spot. The staff was attentive and friendly. They were on top of water refills and I drink a lot so that was a plus: It was a clean beautiful spot. However, the food was just not there for me. I personally found nothing special about the rolls, they were even almost dry to me. I ignored other reviews and tried the corned beef hash. It had no flavor or and the texture was just unappetizing. The Boston crème pie was beautifully presented but not what was expected flavor wise. I struggle because if they invented it, I guess everyone else is "doing it wrong". It was very good, just not at all what I was expecting to eat. My son said the American breakfast was pretty good. Overall though, for what I paid, I was regretting my choices.

Samantha S.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant for breakfast with my family in July and wanted to see it for its famous "best corned beef hash" and " Boston crème pie." The service was great, always attentive and caring and drinks were always filled. The food was portioned well but lacked taste. The corned beef hash was not the best I've ever had. It was dry and very little corned beef. The Boston cream pie was so tiny and we were told it had no nuts since one in our party has a nut allergy- but it DEFINITELY has nuts. The ambiance felt like I was in the 60s in a fancy breakfast spot but wanted to see more history since it was apparently very famous for JFK and Jackie Kennedy. It's a one time place to try, especially if you're staying at the hotel.

Howard H.

Yelp
Breakfast review. Popped in to grab a quick bite and it was decent. The allure of Parker's easily is the decor and historic dining room which was a throw back to days gone by. The breakfast menu consists of omelettes, french toast and other staples. Food was decent but nothing to write home about. We did get the Boston Cream Pie to try - it was ok. Cake was a tad dry but the cream was good - not too sweet and the raspberry jam was a perfect complement to the pie. Service was excellent. Prices are actually reasonable for a hotel with a marquee restaurant attached to it. Probably better to come for dinner. Will try again for the nightcap.

Matias B.

Yelp
Nice spot if you're staying at the hotel and need a quick breakfast or meal, however it definitely isn't the best of Boston. Located near so many other great restaurants and stops in a 10 min radius of the Parker House.

H M.

Yelp
Located in the Omni Parker House Hotel in Boston~ this was our first stop in Boston. We were excited to try the original Boston Creme Pie. It was not as expected as the harden chocolate top and 2 cake layers fell apart. Not much cream in between the layers. However my husband said his Monte Cristo sandwich and fries were delicious. It was a beautiful dining room with a classic feel. Chloe and Cesar were great servers. May have to try Flour Bakery for their Boston Creme Pie to compare.

Robert B.

Yelp
Terrible Thanksgiving dinner!! Doughy rolls, processed turkey, dry tasteless mashed potatoes, horrible stuffing made from nothing but bread! They're famous for their boston cream pie? Why? To top it off, $44 to park your car.

SHeila R.

Yelp
The food was mediocre at best . Have to say it's the worst Eggs Benedict I have had . The service was fantastic as was the table setting and ambiance. Would not recommend the food . If it's the other things you're interested in it's great . The pricing was usually hotel pricing .

Yelp
I've read up on the history of Parker House Hotel and it's restaurant and I was happy to finally come in and have breakfast here. It was pretty quiet and I think there were only two other tables of guests when I came in. The waitress was really friendly and went to get my ice tea for me. I ordered the corn beef and hash with toast and sunny side up eggs on top. The hash was good, it had red peppers and onions. While I was there, the waitress shared a couple of fun bits about the restaurant. This was a place that Julia Child would frequent and sat at the table next to where I was sitting and a young upcoming chef, Emeril Lagasse was cooking. I also sat at the table (#40), where JFK had announced his engagement to Jackie. Food and good conversation, who could ask for more. I hope to eat here again soon!

John J.

Yelp
We only stopped in to try the rolls and Boston Cream Pie. Even so, the service was fantastic and friendly. This is the location that created the Parker House rolls and Boston Cream Pie. The pie was unique in that the outside was rolled in crushed walnuts which gave it a taste similar to coconut. Doubt the original recipes, but both were excellent.

Ricky C.

Yelp
Our breakfast was awful. I ordered an omelette, and potatoes. Honestly my food looked like it was a day old. The OJ has a chalky taste and my partners cold oats was served in a mason jar. My toast was burnt and the Boston Cream Pie isn't worth it. Save your money! Avoid Parker's for breakfast.

Brooke W.

Yelp
It was ok. As far as breakfast restaurants in Boston there are better, but it wasn't bad. We enjoyed our breakfast but wouldn't say it is a must go to!

Peter O.

Yelp
Went here for brunch, and of course had to definitely try the boston creme pie. This place wasn't worth the hype for what it was. The food was mediocre and the pie wasn't anything different from what you can get at your local grocery store. Go for the experience if you want... but I would suggest unless it's absolutely on your bucketlist of must do things in Boston, to save your time and go elsewhere!

Megan M.

Yelp
We chose to eat breakfast at Parker's on our first day in Boston while staying at the Omni Parker House. The dining room is, at least at first glance, very impressive. Most of the charm of eating here is the decor and history (we made sure to take a photo sitting at the table where President Kennedy proposed). I did notice that some of the furnishings were quite dated and worn, with the chairs visibly frayed, peeling and needing refurbishment or replacement. This was a real shame as it did detract a little from the experience, and didn't reflect well on the high price point of breakfasts served here. The food was was perfectly good, simple breakfast food. Portion size wasn't huge for the prices charged, but sufficient. The real star of the meal was our lovely waiter who was friendly, approachable and chatty throughout our meal.

Jean B.

Yelp
Save your money. The food was edible, but not great, especially for the price. I had the meal with eggs and pancakes, which came with sausage, bacon and sourdough toast. My over-easy eggs were cooked through, the toast was cold, the sausage was from a package and the pancakes were meh. I've had better Boston Cream Pie in New Zealand, and could have made a better breakfast myself. Maybe this was the place to be in the 60s but not anymore. Also, they posted a dress code on their website, which we learned the hard way that they don't enforce. We were VERY over-dressed for breakfast!

Sarah M.

Yelp
literally inedible. my pulled pork tasted like melted plastic and my boyfriend's medium well burger was raw inside

Hugh L.

Yelp
Located in the historic and beautiful Omni Parker Hotel, the ambiance of the restaurant is upscale and grand. As a huge boston cream pie fan, I was excited to try it at its place of conception. The presentation was great...drizzled in 2 different sauces, homemade whipped cream, fresh berries. In my honest opinion, the cake itself didn't blow me away. It was fine but a bit on the 'dry' side without much of the 'cream' to speak of. It was more of a thin cream filling as you would find on a birthday cake. The lunch itself was good but I wouldn't say 'great'. All in all, a nice visit if you're on vacation or perhaps a business lunch (there was a middle aged businessman dining along talking quite loudly on his phone...I guess to show the other diners just how important he is.

Shaquille A.

Yelp
I came here for restaurant week and had the clam chowder, the boston baked schrod, and the mini boston cream pie with ice cream. The ambiance of the restaurant is very chill but a bit on the fancier side, so it's a bit more dressy. The clam chowder looks gross in the pic but i promise it tastes good lol The schrod was cooked very well and the entire meal was delicious with a glass of white wine Definitely a place I'd come again, but nothing amazed me about the food.

Erica S.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place but was so unimpressed. I'd once seen a show on the Food Network that highlighted the famous Parker House rolls and of course the Boston creme pie. It's possible that I just built it up in my head to be mind-blowing but it definitely was not. We had lunch reservations but it wasn't necessary upon arrival at 1pm. There were only a few tables. The restaurant is beautiful and obviously has some amazing historical elements. We were seated at a corner table near a beautiful set of stairs and a statue and told later that it was the table where JFK proposed to Jackie. I thought that was really cool and romantic! I could barely stand to wait for the rolls to arrive. We ordered a bottle of white wine but I can't remember the name. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the shortened lunch menu as well as the restaurant's history. She offered suggestions on entrees and informed us that the kitchen would close at 2pm. I ordered the lobster Mac n cheese. My boyfriend ordered the scallops. The rolls arrived and looked like store bought rolls. They weren't warm at all and were even a bit tough. So disappointing! My Mac n cheese was presented nicely and the lobster tasted fresh. Although, I probably wouldn't order the dish again as it was somewhat lack luster. My boyfriend's scallops were over-cooked and tough. We were excited to order the Boston creme pie which we thought would make up for the disappointment of the rolls. I'll avoid the suspense and say that it did not! Another beautiful presentation but did not taste like anything other than store bought or mass produced. We discussed the possibility that lunch items and rolls may be different that dinner items but can't confirm. Overall, a highly disappointing experience for such an iconic establishment. I'm not sure if I'd even bother returning.

Matt V.

Yelp
The cream pie was great, and was special to be in such a historic building. The rest of the breakfast was good, but not noteworthy.

Byron P.

Yelp
I enjoyed the food with the exception of the Boston Cream Pie. It was not what I expected. Boston cream pie has always been one of my favorite desserts. In fact my Mom made it instead of a birthday cake for me as long as I can remember. The so called original at Parkers looked like a cup cake and had little taste. Possibly this was the original. If so, tremendous improvement has been made since it's invention.

Michelle T.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised when I came here for restaurant week. This is a very old and iconic restaurant in Boston. I would highly recommend for locals and tourist alike. Although, I would have to admit that the place does remind me of a scene from The Shining. It is a quiet and more intimate setting that may be suitable for a date or even work meeting. I have been here once before just for their infamous boston creme pie, which is where it originated. As for their food, the best buttersquash ravioli I have had in a while! They also serve warm dinners rolls which is a plus! The scallop scampi came with large well cooked scallops, the only critique is I wish there were more noodles in ratio to the scallops and a squirt of lemon would have completed the dish. My companion had the lamb which was delightfully tender. Definitely worth checking out!

Luann B.

Yelp
Great dessert and very nice service. We were just walked in without reservation. The Boston cream pie is amazing!

Wendy L.

Yelp
Came to Boston for a work trip, couldn't possibly miss out on a perfect opportunity to try the famous Boston cream pie. We came on a rainy day for lunch, the restaurant was quite empty, so we were seated right away. The whole hotel has a very old classy feel to it, like famous politicians would stay here, but I digress. I got a salad appetizer, scallops with veggies as my entrée, and the Boston cream pie and Crème brûlée to share with my colleague. I was pleasantly surprised that the cream pie wasn't too sweet. It tasted more like a fluffy cake. I could easily eat another one of those! The service was good as you would expect from a restaurant that is located in a hotel of its caliber. Next time I'm back in town I will be paying this restaurant another visit for sure!

Krysten M.

Yelp
Eating here was probably one of the best dining experiences of my life. I'm going to start with the service because it was top notch. I came with a huge group (15 of us) and even when I was making the reservation they were extremely accommodating. I felt bad because I had to adjust the number of people twice but they said it was no problem at all. Our waiter was so kind and attentive. He definitely knew his stuff. I ordered the lobster and it was so delicious! And the parker house rolls! AMAZING. I want to eat a roll with every meal from now on. The Boston cream pie was also delicious. Soft and cakey and rich from the chocolate. The Boston cream pie ice cream was also a winner. Definitely come here when visiting Boston! The hotel is really old and spooky too!

Jim O.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I visited Parker's for our anniversary. The experience we had was fantastic. Our server, Francesco, provided us with some history regarding the restaurant as well as attentive service. He also offered to take a picture of us, and provided us with a Boston cream pie on the house. The food was incredible. I had the filet mignon which was probably the best filet I have ever had in my life. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection. My girlfriend ordered the poached lobster over risotto which was also wonderful. Overall, it was an excellent experience eating at Parker's. I have already told several friends and family members to make sure they come here if they are ever in Boston.

Robert B.

Yelp
Excellent, refined, classics. As a guest in this historic hotel it did not take me long to figure out where I should take supper or to be reminded as to how much I have been missing not making it a destination for a stand alone dining experience. The restaurant's main dining room is refined and the service impeccable. I opted for the pre- theater special because it offered everything I could want and because the price point presented an offer I could not refuse. The opening clam chowder was prepared in the classic New England style with nothing left to be desired. Each ingredient was perfectly balanced. The extra cream (noted on the menu) complimented the chowder and did not detract or dominate. The steak was exceptionally flavorful and a fine cut. The fingerling potatoes were cooked to perfection as were the vegetables - fresh and firm. The Boston Cream Pie was invented here in 1855. The few additions - fresh blueberries and blackberries and decorative finish took nothing away - it simply made the plate more elegant. I'll be back whether a guest or not!

Yelp
3.5 Stars A glamorous piece of Boston's history! The moment you step into the hotel, you can definitely see why the Omni Parker House is a relic of Boston's elite past with it's beautiful drapes, tall ceilings, and grand decor. You definitely feel transported. I've wanted to check out the birthplace of the Boston Creme Pie ever since I moved here and it seemed opportunistic when we found Travelzoo deal ($69, dinner for two -- two apps, two entrees, two desserts). It was simple to make the reservation and we arrived on Saturday at 7pm. Our server was really nice. She came, got our orders promptly, and checked on us throughout entire night. I had read reviews of the spotty service, so it was a pleasant surprise. Water service was also good; they refilled the glasses before they even emptied. The bread was a bit slow, but it was a busy night. We ordered oysters and crab cakes as our appetizers; lobster tails and filet mignon as our entrees; and Boston Creme Pie (of course) and strawberry cheesecake for dessert. The apps were pretty good and came out quickly; though they had the feel of being rushed. My oysters were very fresh and came with a mignonette sauce and (homemade?) cocktail sauce. However, they didn't give me a spoon to scoop any of the sauces, so I had to get creative with a fork (not helpful the vinegar-y mignonette). The quality was good; execution was just rushed. The crab cake was full of crab and it was super tasty. We both also enjoyed our entrees. The lobster was a little small, but as it isn't lobster season, that's on me. The filet was tender and cooked perfectly. When the server came by to drop it off, though, some asparagus fell on the ground and it wasn't replaced. So, not a big deal, but... Dessert was okay. I really liked the Boston Creme Pie. The cake itself was super fluffy and the frosting was just the right amount of sweetness. I also liked the texture that the chopped almonds gave the cake. I can see why this cake is their trademark. The cheesecake was a bit disappointing; it was very close-textured and had a stale quality to it. Overall, it was a good meal and I'm glad we had it for such a steal; but, I wouldn't go back if I had to pay full price because it didn't really compare to other places in its "bracket". There wasn't anything outstanding that really justified the price-tag for me. Hence, the 3.5 star rating. Pro-Tip: If you only want the Boston Creme Pie, go to the bar!

Anna L.

Yelp
The Boston Cream Pie originated at this historic hotel. I came here to try it after the recommendation from my tour guide, but I was a bit disappointed. It was good but not great. I expected better since it is the original and because it was so costly (about $10).

Mike S.

Yelp
This review is for the formal restaurant not the bar. The bar was just fine and recommend you go there instead. Super disappointing formal restaurant. They should be ashamed to be representing this beautiful old hotel. They sat everyone as close to the busy lobby as possible. I even heard people ask for quieter or more private seats- all these requests denied by the hostess. Then comes the food. The dinner rolls were nice. The house salad was acceptable. The main entre- a corn ravioli tasted frozen, I kept getting sandy grit from the filling. I was lucky if there was 1 kernel of corn. And it was 5-6 little sad ravioli sitting in this tasteless chalky brown sauce. Horrible! They must have a decent baker/pastry chef because the carrot cake at the end was good and worth the 1 star. All this for $40+ The waitress just also didn't seem to want to be there. Felt sad and on the decline. Hotel management should revamp everything and update!

Megan K.

Yelp
I had an absolutely wonderful evening eating at Parker's Restaurant when I was in Boston for business, and I am so glad I opted to dine-in here while staying at Omni Parker House. I actually hadn't known that JFK had proposed to Jackie O here, so I was definitely history nerding out when I walked into the restaurant and excitedly asked the maître d′ which table it was that he popped the question. I was the first person there for dinner that night, and he made my evening complete when he asked if I'd like to sit down and take a photo at the table. My waiter for the evening was hands down the best waiter I've ever had at a restaurant, and I will probably compare all other waiters now to him. He was incredibly nice, attentive, made wonderful suggestions, and was sure to keep checking in on me and if I needed anything, telling me countless jokes that left me chuckling. Even though I was eating dinner alone, it was one of the most enjoyable meals I've ever had. I decided to order off the pre-theatre menu, and recommend everyone do the same. I FINALLY had some parker house rolls (I'd eaten in the pub for my birthday a few years back and never got them) and they literally were everything I'd dreamed of and more. The french onion soup is superb, although I didn't finish it because I wanted to leave room for dessert. For my main course I went with the salmon, which is definitely ranked in the top 5 salmon I've ever tasted. The spinach it came with could have used a little pizzazz, but I mean, it's spinach. I recommend drinking a white zinfandel with it like I did, it really brings out the flavor of the salmon. For dessert, I naturally went with the Boston cream pie. Heads up, they sell some in the hotel store, and had I not had a conference the next day, I would have purchased a boat load of mini pies and taken them home with me. This one though came with drizzle and whipped cream and strawberries, and now I must try recreating it at home at some point. Next time I stay, I'll certainly eat here again and try more of their delicious food, including the breakfast.

Yelp
I forgot to include this on to my itinerary so it was a good thing we walked by Omni Parker Hotel - where the Boston Cream Pie was invented. I like Boston Cream Pie so I was pretty sure I'm going to like it especially coming from the original source. Parker's Restaurant also serves this treat but they were closing by the time we got back to Omni Parker so we ended up at Parker's Bar - and we also wanted to have drinks since it was our first night of eating and touring in Boston. I got a glass of Proseco with our Boston Cream Pie. The pie is served with chocolate and white chocolate drizzled on the plate, whipped cream and a strawberry. The pie was delicious. It's creamy and not too sweet. The almonds surrounding the pie added crunch. The semi-sweet chocolate top compliments the cream filling. Yummy in my tummy. Their Parker House Rolls are famous too but I was not in the mood for those. Include BCP on your list when you visit Boston.

Yelp
When in Boston... you gotta try the original Boston Cream Pie! Heads up, it's actually a cake. Head to the Omni and have a full dinner in the restaurant or make your way straight to the bar and have it between meals as a snack or dessert, as Bailey Z suggests in his review. We did the latter, with coffee. Despite just coming in for a small dish, service was still friendly and attentive. The bar area has a lot of seating, including a couple of two-tops for privacy. Our dessert was light and fluffy, plated with fresh fruit and whip.

Yelp
Parker's Restaurant, a fine dining establishment located inside the historic Omni Parker House, is home to the original Boston cream pie. As promising as this sounds, the pastry itself is nothing special. Light and fluffy, but lacks the extra oomph that one would expect. I liked the chocolate sauce drizzled on the side more than the pie itself. Service was rude and inattentive as well, which is quite atypical of luxurious hotels. We had a difficult time flagging down waiters. They were too busy frowning and sighing among themselves.

Yelp
Let's just title this "Just because a restaurant invented something 100-ish years ago doesn't mean they still know what they're doing." Parker House Rolls (invented/named here): served cold, and kinda dried out, with balls of almost frozen butter. They were food, but ... Boston Schrod (invented/named here): good start, but after 4 bites no sauce was left, and so the rest came off as dried out. For what it's worth they got the doneness just right on the fish. It's just the treatment needed more sauce to carry it and not seem dry. So pretty good start, descending to "it's food" as I progressed. Boston Cream Pie (invented/named here): Not a lot going on, but maybe there was still too much chill from the fridge. Strawberries served with would have been better off left off, since they were very pale and clearly underripe. So, ... meh Oh, and make sure you ask for the oysters to be fresh shucked. Otherwise you might get similar to the dried out, had been sitting in a fridge for a couple whiles, ones I got.

Yelp
Immediately after I decided to make a trip out to Boston, I knew I had to stop by the Omni Parker House. As a Boston cream pie enthusiast (I order it whenever I see it)...I could NOT pass on the opportunity to try out the original. Although I came for the purpose of trying the original Boston Cream Pie. I also indulged in their cocktails, warm parker house rolls, and lobster roll w/fries. I certainly was not disappointed by any of their offerings. Their Boston Cream Pie was everything I imagined it to be and more. Light and fluffy, with that melt in your mouth texture. The plating was beautiful (slightly inconsistent as my plate did not have a dollop of whipped cream..while my friend's did). Service was good and they did not change their tone when an additional friend came to dine with us at our table.

Yelp
While staying at the Omni hotel, we stopped in for breakfast one morning. I like a quality restaurant and value good food and service. I am giving this restaurant two stars for their appearance. The room itself is large with high ceilings and dark wood. The tables are well set with white dishes, water glasses, heavy cutlery and cloth napkins. Very nice presentation. They serve a breakfast buffet that we did not look at and I am not sure if the price is just the food, or also includes juice and coffer or tea, so if you go, do ask. We chose to order a la carte. I chose their 'simple breakfast' of one egg, potatoes and toast which sounded like more than enough breakfast for me. One of our party ordered an omelet, and it was quite large. The other two ordered hash with eggs and toast. A variety of breads are available for toast and you can order your eggs in the style you prefer. I posted a copy of our receipt and you'll see all the prices have been 'Halved' because we 'split the bill' with our friends couple. You will see the '1/2' to the left of the item description: double the price on the right to get the true price of each item. We were seated by a hostess and when we first arrived, there were about four waiters hovering around to fill water glasses and coffee cups. Before our food arrived they had all disappeared, but we were able stop different waiters a couple of times to order another coffee or tea. The waitstaff are well dressed in a uniform and this adds to the historic ambiance of the restaurant. I swapped out an English muffin for toast, but would have been better off with toast. I seriously can not remember having a less appetizing English muffin. My egg was nicely cooked. The potatoes were nothing special and not particularly warm. My husbands meal was cold and the hash was too salty. This is coming from a guy who loves salt. When you price a menu based on great service and food, you really need to follow through with great service and food. This was an abject failure.

Yelp
Being in Boston and hearing about the famous "Boston Creme Pie" at the Omni Hotel took us to this hotel. You can get the Boston Creme Pie at the restaurant or the bar. We ate it at 9pm so the restaurant seemed closed and the Bar was easier to come in and just order the dessert. BOSTON CREME PIE: They only have on option from what I could tell, the small circular boston creme pie with some raspberry sauce and creme on the side. It's about the size of a baseball so it's not that big. Overall, it was only OK...I'm not sure I've had that many different types of Boston Creme Pie but this one was like a cake with layers of creme and then the chocolate on top. Overall, I wasn't impressed but I'm not sure if it's because I'm not the hugest fan of creme cakes but my boyfriend also didn't think it was anything special.

Yelp
Visited this historic hotel to try out the original Boston Cream Pie. Lovely bar probably steeped in history. Had the cream pie and prosecco. It was fab! Service was good. I loved the cream pie :) Definitely worth visiting here
