15 Coastal Restaurants and Bars in Marin and Sonoma Counties

"Fresh, local, and excellent, this venerable old school beach restaurant has kept up with the times and offers good brewed coffee, killer fresh baked bread and pastries, substantial breakfasts, light lunches, and real dinners — often with live musicians on hand and a fire on the roar. The snack bar window offers a great back-to-the-beach alternative for the sandy set." - Paolo Bicchieri, Gretchen Giles

17 Essential Restaurants in Marin County

"A day at Stinson Beach is just not the same without soft serve from the takeout window at this restaurant across a small bridge over the creek near the beach. Garden picnic tables for full-service eating are shaded from sun and wind, the chilled seafood platter comes with caviar and gougeres, and the burger arrives on a brioche bun topped with Point Reyes blue cheese. Life is good." - Christina Mueller

12 Great Places for Oysters in Marin

"One part community hub and one part beach chalet, this restaurant on the south end of Stinson Beach offers a little something for everyone. Order a plate of chilled oysters with tobiko and Espelette chile, barbecued oysters with woodfired tomatillo salsa, or a seafood platter with a glass of rosé and revel in the oh-so-chill Marin lifestyle. There’s a to-go market with fresh bread and a window with snacks and soft serve for the beach. It gets busy inside, especially on chilly days, but the ample back patio is shielded from the worst of the fog’s breezes." - Christina Mueller

Food is ok. If you bring your own sauce ;) I appreciate it was fresh, and i would say healthy, especially if they would have more options that are not burgers. I hope seafood is better. I had seafood a few years ago, and it was good, but I do not know if it is the same. Menu is quite confusing. I like the atmosphere and the ease. But i think they could be more welcoming. They had a lot of free tables on weekend eve, I believe they easily could have more customers with the right approach. I think they could ask guests if they would like to sit inside or outside. Cause I am sure some end up skipping the experience because it seems that sitting is not available. Bathroom. They should do something about it, like post motivational sign to keep it tidy as well as place at least simple stand for guests to put phone or whatever they might have in hands. Overal, I like the place. I hope it can get a bit better.

Google
Got the Fried Cod Tacos and 2 Margaritas from the Snack Shack. The tacos came with corn tortillas which are typically not my go-to, but they were so good that I didn't even mind. The fish was nice and crispy. They could have used a little bit of hot sauce because there was no real spice. The margaritas were good too. The service was fast, fresh, and friendly. The cashier told us exactly where to find clean restrooms too. Eating fish tacos outside, in the sun, on the beach was great.

Google
Tell me why this restaurant at the beach probably made one of the best fish and chips we’ve ever had? We had such a good lunch the first time that we came back for dinner (it was also because we failed to catch fish). Everything we had was amazing. Very surprised by the bad reviews because this is one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time.. and I’m from the cities.

Google
I am surprised this doesn’t get better reviews! This is my first time here at Stinson beach and this was the first place we ate at. It is not cheap, but it’s fresh and the service was kind and surprising very quick. We would come back!

Chris Huang

Google
We came around 7:30PM and bought some pizza. They let us know that it's served cold... Should have been a sign to skip it. We than went to use the picnic table that were open and not being used. They had many tables open but told use we could not use them because we order food from them to go. Not worth the visit. Parking spots are limited. Bad customer service.

Google
The menu was varied and rich with choice, every meal was fresh, warm, incredibly tasty. The service was impeccable and the food came quickly. Gluten free options were explained when asked and the quality was not compromised on the gluten free meals. Overall I would recommend this to anyone and come back again!!

Google
Posting this review because they deleted the first one, just to highlight how shady this place is. They charged us $85 before tip for a small bowl of pasta, greasy fish and chips, and bread that arrived to the table late. On top of that, they also make you wait outside for the restroom even though they have a sign that clearly states "restroom for dining patrons only." The worst dining experience considering the iconic landmarks and beach right next door. Never coming back.

Google
Cute spot next to the park. Mostly locals. Fresh ingredients, dog friendly outside patio. Inside cozy atmosphere. The service was great. Very sweet waitstaff.

Cherie A.

Yelp
The atmosphere is gorgeous and the food is outrageously scrumptious (every dish we had, but especially the oysters, fish tacos and bread pudding). The waiting staff are run off their feet, but Louis was warm, honest and sweet, and we left feeling very content.

Yelp
Wow, What a great find on a warm Saturday morning. My wife and I after a 5.2 mile hike on Mt. Tam, made our way down to Stinson Beach and were pleasantly surprised to find Parkside Cafe for breakfast. I ordered the Hash, and my wife ordered the Egg Croissant. The hash was artisanal and created by a chef who really cares about food as art. Potatoes, chicken, roasted vegetable's with two over easy eggs on top. My wifes Egg Croissant was light a flaky, and beautifully prepared. Atmosphere was beautiful and service was outstanding. What a pleasant surprise!!

Yelp
will say best sourdough I have had, ever. Go to the store in the back of the restaurant and buy a loaf. However, the review is for every time I go and we are talking over 20x not once have I had a pleasant experience with the staff. The last time I went I had just spent $200 in the back store buying bread and random gifts, asked to use the restroom where they told me I couldn't unless I ate at the restaurant and sat down. I informed the manager I had just spent over $200 at their store and she was the most rude and responded "yea that doesn't matter you can use the porta potties located by the basket ball courts". This has not been my only experience with their staff. They must know their jobs are secure because both the men and women there 9/10 are rude and do not cater to you at all. So my suggestion just don't leave a tip. I would say don't go but the food is pretty decent, you have limited options down there.

Yelp
Cafe right at Stinson Beach. Came here in the middle of a day hike before trekking back to Mill Valley. They serve a number of familiar classics expected at a typical beachside sit-down. I got the fish and chips. The fish was coated and fried nicely in a beer batter, and the fries were average but nothing spectacular. Overall I deem it just OK. Overall, I think the food is not bad. It's not the greatest or most unique food by any stretch of the imagination. I think the price is inflated because of the location (it's definitely riding on the upper cusp of 2 $ signs).

Yelp
Overpriced . Food was not of good quality and oyster dishes they have do not make sense or blend well at all. Service was okay, slow , even though there were only a few tables being serviced. Staff seem very nice but food left me a bad taste in my mouth that lingered. Come for the open parklet NOT food!!

Yelp
I checked out the cafe side while visiting the beach. The service was fast and friendly. I opted in for one of the pastries that had seasonal berries and a may have green tea latte. Both were delicious!

Yelp
The food is excellent!! The waiter, Luis, helped us out when we asked for Crab-Cake Burger for lunch. It used to be on the menu ~ Luis was quick to ask the cook and he was aware of the dish and did an excellent job preparing it. It's been at least 5 years that it has been off the menu. Please, put it back on the menu. You won't regret it. Great Service and Luis has a great sense of humor!! Thanks Again Parkside Cafe!!

Yelp
Wonderful meal outside on their patio on an early Sunday morning before heading to Stinson Beach. Patio is dog friendly! For food we had: * Hash ($20) - pesto chicken was yummy! The cast iron they serve it in was just small, so portion wise my husband felt hungry still. * Granola with oatmeal ($12) - berries and honey were a nice touch. Really tasty! My son loved it. * Parkside ($17) plus bacon ($5) - classic eggs with toast and nice roasted veggies (potatoe, onion, carrots). I feel like the bacon made it feel like a complete dish. For drinks we did freshly squeezedJ, latte, and coffee. Note: we had a one year old and they only have 1 high chair for the restaurant, so it made the meal a little harder to enjoy since we had to hold our child. Felt a little bit slow with service, but all staff were nice. They have a little grab and go bakery attached with really delicious looking pastries and coffee as well as a snack bar (assuming more fast food for beach goers). Overall really cute place/vibe! It is a bit pricey for what you get/portions but highly recommend stopping here for breakfast or a coffee+pastry!

Yelp
1 star - make breakfast yourself. Stinson is a nice place, very small town, and this place seems to take advantage of the very few options we have to dine out. My server was nice, but 1 other server was bad and physically blocked me from using the bathroom. The situation could've easily been solved since I am indeed a customer (who had to pee pretty badly) and it just got worse because she made it into a joke when I told her to ask her coworker that I had been here just a few minutes ago to wash my hands - she stood in the doorway and talked to customers behind me also waiting to get in as if I didn't exist and they are more important. Bad experience for me, still overpriced food, I'm glad I know how to cook some eggs and toast myself.

Yelp
Okay, so here it is: I have never been more dissatisfied with service in my entire life. This was straight up, the most unfriendly and rudest place, with the strangest rules I have ever seen - I have worked every job in the industry from washing tables to cooking, to serving, to managing and I was floored by how bad the service was. I went here with a group of 5 on Thursday lunch. We were quickly stopping through Stinson on a drive up the cost and wanted a round of beers and some oysters, and other apps, and we were considering staying for an early dinner. The place was fairly empty, no line at the stand, only two tables occupied inside and about 8 or 9 free [picnic] tables outside. When we talked to the host, we said we only wanted a quick beer and some apps, and she initially turned us down before a wait to ask another waitress who was in full incognito mode - sunglasses, mask, and SnapBack if she was allowed to seat us. The other waitress said yes, but that we needed to be quick and would need the table back for dinner (mind you this was at about 1500). No problem, we're happy to have a quick refresher, and I asked if they had any reservations so we could know if we needed to leave. Nope - they don't do reservations, and the restaurant was more than half empty. The same waitress was curt, and short with us our entire time, and rushed us through our order. Sure, the oysters were great, as was the garden and the beers, but that's where it ended. We were happy to pay the outlandish prices for apps but the waitress was pushing us to get out, and said that "the owner sets the policy that we can only stay if we have dinner" - even though the owner was not around. The table next to us had a single man eating a single plate of food without a beverage - anyone in the industry knows a table that's getting drinks and apps can easily end up with a much larger check than a lunch or dinner tab, and as a former manager I would never imagine kicking out a paying table when you clearly have empty seats in the house. Mind you, we were quite and respectful, not rancorous or belligerent (we had had only one drink!) and it wasn't as if there was another reason not to have us. My party was quickly and rudely ushered out the door before even finishing one beverage. I went to use the restroom, and was challenged if I was a paying customer or not and YELLED at by another waiter to wait outside for the line for the "SINGLE STALL!!", where there was clearly room on the inside to wait for the restroom. Like man, even if I wasn't a paying customer, that's not how you treat people. The dining room was nearly empty and I couldn't understand what his deal was. Went to grab a coffee on the way out (which was stale), and had equally rude service from the kiosk server. I regret spending any of my money at this place, and if I could I would warn every single person to stay away, and ask the owner how the heck he can justify having such abysmally miserable staff on his payroll. I get that they're on the beach, and probably deal with riffraff and crowds in the summer, but to not be able to handle individual customers with dignity and respect - while charging ludicrous prices for mediocre-looking food - is something that I cannot imagine to be coming from a good place. I have never stiffed a server once in my life, and I struggled with myself but opted to tip a fair amount regardless. The oysters were excellent, but man, did I leave with a bad taste in my mouth.

Yelp
Staff vibes were a bit off like they didn't want to be there or weren't properly treated. But food was good. Prices reflect the high prices beach area as expected. Loved their house made chili sauce and got some for my dad's bday. It was $14 for 8oz

Yelp
Very poor service and rude staff. No clear communication.. no comments about the food

Yelp
$14 breakfast burrito featured promising ingredients, but was a disappointment. They were small, about half the size of a typical counter service burrito, and served room temp because they were made how ever many hours earlier, with your salsa choice of Cholula packets or nothing. Mushy, bummer of a start to a day. Basically the same as eating breakfast at the airport in the 90s. Except that airport breakfast is at least kept in the steamer & served hot. My advice: pass.

Yelp
Food 3/5 Pricey and small portions. At $30-$40/item, I'd expect the portions to be large enough for leftovers (&take home). Got the roast chicken and hash breakfast plate, and both dishes were only 1 serving size. Value wise, I'd suggest going to the snack bar next door. Service 3/5 Slow service, no water refills even on slow day. Ambiance 5/5 Charming indoor dining room and peaceful outdoor dining area.

Yelp
Experience was consistent with most of the reviews here. Food is mediocre and staff is extremely rude A group of us spent a weekend next door and grabbed food here a few times throughout the weekend. Never been treated so bad at an establishment. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
This is my go to breakfast meal at Parkside, and it does the trick every time. This place is a little pricey but with not many restaurant options in town, you don't have much of a choice. Its the only real sit down service restaurant in Stinson where you have a waiter. Other places are more casual where you order and seat yourself like breakers. They use good quality ingredients here, and serve many fish dishes. There seems to be an obsession with adding pesto to all the dinner dishes on the current menu. You can be seated inside or out. We ate outside, and although the ambience is lovely, service can be hard to get a hold of if it's not at the beginning and end of the meal. Ambiance: casual Would i eat here again: been 10+ times, and will continue to eat here.

Yelp
Parkside Cafe is the perfect blend of great food and retail therapy. I barely had time to blink before my takeout was ready, so I spent the short wait wandering their market, which is so charming it could make a grocery list exciting. The food was top-notch--like, "I almost ate it all in the car" good. The staff is super friendly, and the whole vibe makes you feel like you've found a hidden gem. If you're looking for a spot that offers quick service, delicious eats, and a fun little market to explore, Parkside Cafe is it. Just try not to spend all your money while you wait!

Yelp
Great location and food. I got a seafood platter with pasta and everything was delicious! Their bloody Mary was excellent as well. A great spot to come for a date or if you go hiking here the parkside outdoor cafe is a good place to go to eat outside near the beach. The outdoor cafe is more fried foods such as burgers and fish and chips. Both are good but you just have to pick based on what your looking for.

Yelp
Food: SO GOOD! Smoothie tasted fresh and well-made with good ingredients. $10 for a pint glass wasn't too bad as I've definitely paid for smoothies elsewhere that tasted like 3 blueberries for color and some almond milk. My smoothie tasted like it was made with full ingredients. Caesar salad was unique with that it wasn't just romaine lettuce and had just the right amount of dressing. Probably my second favorite Caesar salad behind Pizza Antica. Fish and chips were honestly some of the best I've had! Battered with IPA beer the fillers were thick and tasted like real fish instead of a tiny chunk with a lot of breading. The crispy outside was perfect! Fries: amazing! Bread pudding was truly incredible and big enough to share between 2 people. It had some custard, chocolate, raspberries and wasn't too overly sweet. I would 100% order it again. Service: The older male waiter we had were very attentive, smiley and knowledgable, seemed to love his job. The young host gentleman seemed like he was forced to be there... Price: definitely high but it's in a touristy area, everything around here is pricey. Taste was worth it for the convenience and setting in my opinion. I'd go back on splurging occasions as all the food was soo good! There's only one bathroom/restroom and a line can form.
google avatar

Yelp
After a morning of playing along the beach, this was a fine place for a meal with my family. There's a choice between indoors and patio, and we chose the patio. Service was friendly, and the server was able to answer our questions about ingredients and allergies, which is important to us. They had several options for vegetarians, and a few for vegans, and those avoiding gluten. Between the 4 of us we had the seafood sampler (quite good, but portioned with 3 of each item), a few Niman burgers, the seafood stew, and a pesto chicken sandwich. Everything was very good, and the fries were just the way I like them (substantial, crispy, not too salty, not too greasy). The iced tea was different, maybe it was jasmine tea? It was nice, if more flowery than what I had expected. The prices were about what you'd expect for a coastal mid-range place. When we pass through again, we'll be back.

Yelp
Needed a little post-hike eats and was recommended to Parkside. FYI I couldn't park along side it because it was packed! Finally found parking and was a little overwhelmed on where I was supposed to meet my group to eat. There's a restaurant with indoor/outdoor seating but it was a 20 minute wait, and this puppy was hungry! Then there's a coffee/pastry kiosk next to the restaurant which didn't quite have enough substance for this hungry hiker. So with hesitation I got in the long line to order at the casual grab 'n go alongside the coffee spot. They took awhile to deliver my order of a BLT w/ avocado which gave me time to stand in the long line for a single bathroom. The sandwich was tasty although the sourdough bread a little harsh on the roof of my mouth. And there were only two long strips of bacon which was minimal for the size of the sandwich. I decided I wanted an iced coffee but wasn't willing to get back in the pastry line. The place is cute, busy and food good enough, but don't plan on getting in and out quickly. It's right along the beach and there's a little park across the street where you sit and eat your to-go food.

Isabel Y.

Yelp
I love this place! I know when to go and when to be ready to wait because it's a delicious place, next to the beach that makes fresh, yummy and local food. I got the greens with chicken. The chicken is a side and it's in a skillet. Then we got the calamari that comes with shrimps and oysters with tartar, cocktail sauce and lemon. The two entrees we got were the crab and shimps risotto special, the other was the filet. They both were so so yummy. Cooked perfectly! I really love this place from breakfasts to birthday dinners. Have some good vibes and they're so kind. Don't expect miracles if it's a sunny day and they're slammed.

Yelp
Food: Excellent Ambiance: Good Service: Good For two Wisconsinites visiting the California coast and in search of seafood, Parkside Cafe fit the bill perfectly. Located just a short walk from our stay and from the beach, the patio area made for splendid outdoor dining amongst lemon trees! We were sat right away (it was mid-afternoon). Sit-down eating was moderately busy, and it took a little long for our server to get to us, though when she did, she was pleasant and helpful. We had the Seafood Stew and the Fish & Chips. Both were excellent! The stew had rich flavors of a variety of sea food (fish, clams, scallops, oysters, shrimp) in a delicious broth. The fried fish was not overly greasy and the breading was sensational! Chips were pretty standard fries. The Lodi Zinfandel was smooth and rich. The sparkling mead was not quite sweet enough for my wife's taste. UPDATE: We returned for breakfast the next day. Ordered the Seafood Benedict and the Eggs, Rice, and Beans with added shrimp & crab. Both were very good, but the Benedict is the way to go. Raspberry lemonade is more tart than sweet. The fresh-squeezed Valencia orange juice is delicious.

Yelp
Well, I bought an $8 slice of sourdough pizza from their snack bar. Having come from an 8 mile hike, I asked if I could use their restroom... the woman at the cafe said "are you seated with us?" to which I replied "no, but I just purchased from you" and she said (in a not so polite tone) "well, if you aren't seated with us, you need to use the port-a-potty across the street". I asked her what the difference was, if I was seated vs having purchased and eating my pizza standing up and she just said "sorry- fragile septic. You need to go across the street". Listen, it's Stinson Beach, I understand they can't accommodate every random person asking for a restroom, but to turn a paying customer away (there was no one even seated at the cafe) is pretty lame, even lamer is using the smarmy tone.

Emma K.

Yelp
The service and food was absolutely terrible. When we arrived the hostess was dismissive and didn't want to seat us, even though it was empty. Then we ordered the seafood sampler, which did not have the caviar and the Dungeness crab was had sprouts in it. Overall a horrible experience.

Virginia M.

Yelp
Get the #3 Hobb's Pizza!! So good and has honey in it, which really makes it a one of a kind, over the top eating experience!! Also, love the Temescal Juicy Hazy IPA, which isn't even on their menu, don't know why?!! Found out about it after asking if they had an IPA other than Lagunitas! Cheers!
google avatar

Mariah M.

Yelp
Every time I visit Parkside Cafe, it's a pleasant experience. We ordered the Hobb's pizza to go and the thin crust pizza was delicious and tasted fresh.
google avatar

Anthony G.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite spots when visiting Stinson Beach. The seasonal fish (cod pictured above) is always fresh and made to order. The servers especially Luis are attentive, friendly and very accommodating. Outdoor dining makes the experience even more relaxing
google avatar

Tricia M.

Yelp
Best clam chowder ever! Very surprising - chockfull of clams! With a big crouton on top - so tasty! Pizza was huge - I ordered two of them thinking this would be one of those personal pizzas for one but ended up lasting us 3 days! And got better each day! Fish and chips were classic and what you want after a long day at the beach. We ordered online and picked up - customer service was so great and helpful! And fast! Thank you, Parkside!
google avatar

Michael E.

Yelp
The food i got was well prepared, but quite expensive with tiny portions. Pretty casual place with pretty upscale prices.

Katherine L.

Yelp
Today I was at Stinson beach volunteering at a race & stopped by Parkside cafe for a coffee, check out their menu and restroom stop. The manager was so rude and not very customer friendly! I wasn't asked to be seated so walked to the restroom. He literally followed me to the restroom to say "it's for customers only" also, waited close to the door to mention I was "disrespectful" for using their restroom. It was humiliating and a complete turn off so left in disbelief what had taken place. I'm still shocked how poorly I was treated and will never step foot in Parkside cafe again:( Customer service training is necessary!!

Yelp
The Food is excellent.... Excellent!!! Fish is exceedingly fresh. Pricey, but delicious. Eating of food, so strong caring rating . Bathroom also clean which is a nice bonus. Ambiance is relaxed and friendly, dogs on site. Service could use work. Main waiter is professional and does a good job, but overall the service is not cohesive. They have lots of staff, but don't seem like they work effectively. Service would be rated a 3... Kitchen is exceptional, but her also could use improvement... They are slow... Way too slow for all the people working on the grill. That's the negative... The positive.. Ever dish ordered was exceptional!!! Worth the wait. Had seafood sampler platter, risotto with crab and shrimp, crab Benedict, scallop special... all amazing!

Yelp
I showed up just passed noon on a weekday and was surprise that servers were talking among themselves and only 2 customers visible. I remember that place being packed. I got seated, ordered my cheeseburger and fries- in the sun. No one offering to open the umbrella next to the table. The hamburger had no flavor, looked like it was previously frozen and the fries had an unpleasant aftertaste that seems to originate with the oil. Bad! I don't mind paying $ 20.00 for a cheeseburger, but this was not worth it. I won't be back.

Stephanie N.

Yelp
The BIGGEST rip off EVER!! Two hamburgers and two Chardonnay's- $88.00!!! Without a tip!! Add a tip and it's $100!!!! For 2 HAMBURGERS AND 2 glasses of wine!!! TOTAL RIP OFF!! AND we were sitting in a CORNER with no view except the walls!! NEVER again!!

Yelp
The prices were reasonable, it's super accessible to the beach, and has decent food. The banana split is delicious. It can get crowded and take a while, but it is always a hit. The park across the street is good for kiddos too

Meegan M.

Yelp
Amazing food. Atrocious atmosphere inside (absolutely terrible acoustics makes for a miserable experience), but fantastic atmosphere outside on patio. Warm and welcoming service! Our second time and Will go again.

Yelp
Unsure why this place doesn't have better reviews We had a delicious meal here last night and the service was great Seafood stew tasted fresh and had great flavor Would go back
google avatar

Perri G.

Yelp
We didn't see this until after we ate, but the park side snack bar is connected to this place and has the same food for HALF the price. Food and service were good, but we felt completely duped seeing the snack bar after we paid $30 per entree for not that big portions. The only reason we are giving 2 stars not 1 is because our waitress was very nice and had great service.

Yelp
Good food. Good service. I would go back. The location is excellent. We all enjoyed it.

Yelp
Wow .. I actually loved this place. We only ate here for breakfast lunch and dinner with our two little kids while visiting Stinson this past weekend. But within 24 hours of having the fish tacos, I am incredibly sick.. I have never had food poisoning before and I am on day 3 of horrible symptoms. I've been questioning what has caused it but the fish is what keeps popping in my mind, so I decided to hop on Yelp to read their recent reviews and my jaw dropped seeing a post from 10 days ago of another couple who ate their fish tacos and are sick. Suspicion confirmed and I'm so bummed because I was a fan of this place. But wow .. I am so sick. Gross.

Yelp
Came here yesterday and the food was mediocre for the price you're paying. They're very basic, nothing special but it's just something to eat in the area. The salad presentation was a bit creative though. Salad w/ prosciutto & chicken $26 (3.5/5) : Sliced hard boiled egg, prosciutto underneath the greens, avocado, chicken on the side. It was good and the presentation was nice, but not $26 nice. Calamari $28 (3/5) - Deep fried calamari with tiny shrimp and 1 oyster. Super small portion and it taste like every restaurants' fried calamari. Service (2.5/5) - The staffs are approachable, but they kept on starring at us while talking to their coworkers that it was very obvious they were talking about us. Not sure if it was in a negative or positive way, but it would've been better if they weren't blatantly starring and talked in private instead. At the end, my friends and I needed to use the restroom. Turns out you need to lineup outside to use the restroom even if you're a paying customer. Other people who weren't eating at the restaurant were coming in to use the restroom as well so the line was very long. (There's only one restroom available). I witnessed other customers getting upset that they had to wait outside to use the restroom as well. One of the male workers was looking at me up and down when I walked by and even turned around and kept checking me out so I looked back at him HARD! Such gross behavior for a worker to check out a customer, it's gross behavior in general. Their ambiance and policies gave me an ick, and I noticed it in the other customers' face. Glad to know other people who reviewed this place had a similar experience so it's not just me ! If they had better service and ambiance and no grossness, the price might've been reasonable.

Yelp
Wow. This place was a whirlwind of issue after issue. I agree with many other reviews that the staff is rude, the food is expensive/not that good, and no one seems to want to be there. Myself and a few friends drove into Stinson earlier in the morning, and I decided to get a coffee around 830 or 9ish. We didn't wait in line very long, and there were only a handful of people, but the woman working there was rushing around like there was a huge crowd. She was generally rude with me but had a weird interaction with the group behind me in line. While I waited off to the side for my coffee, the next few people were ordering. Once again she seemed incredibly scatterbrained and altogether too busy to bother with them (even though it was relatively dead). She started to get frustrated with the customers and would have them repeat their order multiple times because she would start doing something else while they were talking and then get the order wrong. Another major issue are the oddly restrictive rules of the restaurant. The restroom is for customers only, which isn't uncommon, but you have to be currently seated to use the restroom. Even if you have eaten there, bought something, or are waiting to be seated, you are not allowed to use the restroom. I was forced to walk around the small town and eventually found a portable restroom while my friends waited in line for food. I came back and asked if they had somewhere I could wash my hands (since there had been no hand sanitizer or soap) and was turned away. While the guy was respectful enough he said if I wanted to wash my hands I had to walk back down to the beach. Mind you, I had followed their "rules" and found somewhere else to use the restroom, I just wanted to wash my hands! Overall it was just plain dehumanizing and incredibly frustrating. I'm also realizing after reading some more reviews that this guy was stationed outside to act as a bouncer of sorts so you couldn't enter the restaurant unless they brought you in. It wasn't until later in the day that we ordered food. Two of my friends are vegetarians, and one doesn't eat certain meat due to religious/cultural reasons. We all ordered grilled cheese sandwiches (two veggie and two chicken). After we left and started to open our sandwiches, my friend with religious restrictions realized that her order was completely wrong and could not eat it. My sandwich was correct, so I switched with her. However, the sandwich she had originally received was sooooo salty and just not edible (though that could always just be my opinion).

Yelp
Parkside Cafe is a cozy indoor cafe in Stinson that has a fairly extensive outdoor cafe area with picnic table seating. It has other offerings as well: a bakery and expresso window for takeaway, a fast food stand for beach goers, and a tiny spendy boutique with gourmet foods and fresh baked Parkside breads. Parkside offers a sit down casual breakfast with homemade granola and steel oats, a simple vegetable omelette, and root vegetable hash in a small iron pan with eggs made to order. Some of my favorite PM orders include clam chowder, fresh baked bread, a big order of fried calamari with a charred lemon, and a microbrew or a glass of wine. Their vanilla soft serve with fresh berries is another simple but good order. After a meal here, we generally grab a couple of their pastries to-go, or a chai for the road, along with some bread or canned fish from their gourmet boutique. The only pain points are that service can be overwhelmed and inattentive at times, and they are oddly overprotective of their single bathroom. A fun stop in Stinson.

Yelp
This place was a solid four stars! Maybe it depends what you get, but our meals were great. I loved my filet mignon and my husband loved the burger. We also heard that the fish of the day is good as well as the avocado pasta. The staff were awesome - the guy who greeted us was so welcoming, and Norma who served us was just a peach. I have some dietary restrictions and therefore was asking her about ingredients and she was more than happy to check on things for me. As someone who really doesn't want to be a hassle when it comes to eating out, she made me feel comfortable asking those questions. She was just the best - I hope all the other servers are like Norma!! There's a good amount of seating inside with more outside so we were able to get a table immediately on a holiday at peak dinner time. I think we would totally come back here - I'm a little surprised it's rated as three stars when it clearly has more to offer than that.

Yelp
Sat by fireplace inside after hiking the dipsea trail/mur woods. Cured my exhausted feet. Best chopped salad I have ever had in my life. So crunchy as well as the best fries.

Yelp
We never had bad food here, quick lunch from the shack is hard to beat. Coffee on cold Sunday morning always tastes great. I just don't get why some tourists are so demanding and entitled.

Yelp
Great food and great servers. they do get a bit overwhelmed by the beach crowds. I have had many Breakfast, Lunch and Dinners here. The food never disappoints. Best beachy mimosas and shandys in Norcal.

Yelp
The food was amazing, went right after the beach so I was hungry but out of sandwiches this was close to my top, I rate it a good 8.5 or 9 out of 10. The service was fairly quick, and I had no issues. In terms of ambiance, it is a classic beach side store, not a ton of seating but since it is right next to the beach it's really nice to just bring the food back

Yelp
Food is ok, better places on the strip. Customer service and all the rules around ordering are a little insane: Sat down for lunch, needed to use the bathroom. Waiter made me wait outside the restaurant until the bathroom was empty. We ordered pizza and a salad, were told pizza only to go, salad only for dine in because the pizza takes too long. Ordered the pizza to go, waited about 20 minutes, then went into the bathroom to blow my nose (allergies) was told restaurant is only for dine-in. Not the best experience. Went to Stinton Bodega for dinner, much friendlier experience and better food.
