10 St. Patrick’s Day Specials In SF - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"For a feast of potato skins, boxty pancakes with smoked salmon, and a loaf of house-baked Irish soda bread, order from Parkside Tavern. You can also grab cocktails, like the Golden Delicious (whiskey, apple pucker, and pineapple juice) or the Dubliner (whiskey, ginger beer, lime, and bitters). They’re currently open for takeout, and indoor and outdoor dining." - Julia Chen 1

We came too late, so we couldnt order off their brunch menu. However, not late enough to try their dinner menu. :( But the food we got was still pretty good! It is a bar, but I saw lots of families with kids coming in. There seems to be a lot of space in there, with a back area with more tables. We ordered a mojito and irish coffee for drinks. The mojito was really refreshing and made really well. We also ordered their fish and chips, chicken wings, and cobb salad. While nothing amazing, their food was above average. I think the food wouldve gone well with a beer. It is a nice bar to hang out with friends and have a drink. The food is good and they have lots of TVs if you wanna watch sports. I would love to come here earlier to try their brunch menu.

Google
Great place. Full bar, excellent selection of beers which included local craft beers. Food selection was varied. Battered fish with chios was light , tasty, and plentiful. Chicken vegatable pie was well cooked and served with a fresh salad. Staff friendly and accommodating. Prices were reasonable. Worth visiting.

The drinks are fabulous--the filet mignon was very small (but that was written on the menu) for 25$, still nothing to be upset about. BUT if I order medium rare and get medium to done, especially a filet mignon, then that is unacceptable! Atmosphere is great, cozy, cocktails for Mom and food for my 12year old--that is one star extra.

Google
Excellent and friendly service. We finally had the food here, starting with the sourdough bread and salted butter appetizer which was great! We decided on the Wednesday Dinner special: Grilled bistro steak with Béarnaise sauce, cooked medium with garlic mashed potatoes, and grilled asparagus! We paired our meals with sparkling wine, Rotari Brut and 2nd Amendment’s watermelon wheat beer. We finished it with the chocolate cheesecake, which was a bit dense, but packed full of flavor with an excellent presentation with the fruit and cream. Glad we ended up here on a Wednesday!

After having visited a nearby competitor and being thoroughly disappointed, coming to the Parkside was a breath of fresh air. Upon entering I was immediately greeted by a very friendly hostess. We laughed and chatted for a bit, then I sat at the bar where I as again immediately brought a menu. The food was good and the refills on my beverage were quick. Visiting from out of town it can be tough to find a decent place to just enjoy a burger and drink. I highly recommend Parkside and will visit again next time I'm in the area.

Always a good choice when we're in the city. Amazing food! Great service. Good place to get together with friends and family.

Fantastic hillside neighborhood tavern! Excellent selection of beers on tap, full bar and a great selection of pub grub. Pricing is very reasonable and we received great friendly service.

Yelp
O'Brien's Irish Pub captures everything that makes a great local spot unforgettable -- cosy atmosphere, friendly faces, and just the right blend of comfort and culture. Whether you're popping in for a quiet pint or catching up with friends, there's a sense of welcome here that feels real and rooted. The pub itself balances tradition with a modern edge. Dark wood interiors, vintage Irish décor, and just enough buzz in the background from happy chatter and clinking glasses. It feels lived-in -- in the best way. Their Guinness is poured slow and proper, and every pint tastes like it was meant to be enjoyed here. The staff are not only fast, but genuinely friendly -- the kind that greet you with a smile and remember your order if you've been more than once.

Yelp
The positives: - atmosphere/music - service was great - fries were delicious - seafood chowder - yum!! - decently priced drinks There was room for improvement with: - veggie burger - the burger was good but the patty was bland and didn't have a great texture (would have preferred an impossible or beyond burger patty) - Mac n cheese was way too cheesy (maybe good for other peoples taste) but it wasn't my cup of tea - banoffee pie - I usually love banoffee pie and I had seen good reviews and I usually love banoffee pie but we took it to go and it was odd because the crust hadn't set...so it was just graham cracker crumbles instead of crust...

Yelp
O'Brien's has become another regular spot to go to off Taraval Street. It's a great spot for local Irish fun with a full menu, cocktails, sports on the televisions, as well as live Irish music on Sunday. You get a sense of old world Irish as you walk into the establishment with dark woods and a long bar down the side of the room. It's always lively with sports playing on the televisions through out the restaurant. More traditional seating is on the right side of O'Brien's where are you seated by a hostess or server when you walk in. Every time we arrive we head straight to the bar. Can you actually go to an Irish pub and not get a pint of Guinness? The answer is no, you can't . Along with this Irish stout, there is a full complement of beers, a vast wine selection and a whole lot of alcohol for your mixed drinks. The appetizers are typical "pub food" from chicken wings and fried calamari to garlic fries and potato skins with some other offerings thrown in. I've sampled the Cheese Chive Croquettes, fried croquette with potato, cheddar cheese, chives, panko bread crumbs, served with a chipotle ranch as well as Fried Calamari, rings and tentacles Sliced Lemon battered and fried with Tartar Sauce. However it's dinner we are usually there for, along with enjoying some drinks and relaxing. In the past I've started with the simple Wedge Salad followed by the Fish & Chips, the Fried Chicken Sandwich (this was huge!), Steak Frites or Chicken Curry. Every dish as been good. Quality presentation with each dish full of flavor. The chicken sando stands out, but you can never go wrong with fish & chips. On top of the great food and endless drinks, you can't beat the friendly staff and atmosphere of O'Brien's, as it feels like you local neighborhood hang out. Highly recommend a stop for an Irish good time.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday afternoon to watch the Clippers and GSW game and was surprised that it was not busier. Sat at the bar where Adrian was our bartender. Overall food was great and enjoyed the smash-burger but wish the bun was able to handle all the ingredients without having to fall apart near the end of my meal. Not pictured were the potato skins which hit the spot as a precursor to my meal. Solid 4 stars for my 2nd visit and was hoping to say "hi" to Rebecca who used to be a server at OJW.

Yelp
Quickly becoming a family favorite. Visited for Father's Day brunch and also recently for dinner. Excellent staff/ service and a well-kept, clean dining environment. The menu offers both value for money and a good variety of traditional pub food options. The Irish breakfast was excellent (proper bacon rashers!) and the cottage pie and curry were very tasty. We opted to sit in the rear dining area (away from the main bar area) which is a great option for families with smaller children. The place is very kid friendly with a dedicated kids menu and coloring materials. Needless to say, there is a fully-stocked bar and a they serve a great pint of guinness. Looking forward to coming back and trying more off the menu - the pork chop and roast chicken looked amazing.

Yelp
It was a Wednesday night, but it was packed. Even the auxiliary dining room, where I was, was packed. This was a pleasant surprise that business is doing this well. I don't remember that happening when it was the Parkside Tavern. Back then, the auxiliary room was mostly empty, except maybe on Warriors playoff nights. I had that Bangers and Mash today. It was very flavorful and aromatic. The bangers were a little bit on the burnt side but the mashed potatoes topped with an irresistible, stout gravy more than made up for it. The service was slow getting the food to everyone because the kitchen was backed up with the crowd tonight. So we had to be more patient. But it was another good sign for them that business is doing so well. The servers themselves were great. A tag team of three were working together to make sure we were all taken care of.

Yelp
Great place! I love the Irish stouts that they have on tap. Haven't tried much of the menu yet but the smash burger is great. Delicious crisp on the 2 patties, good sauce, bun so soft. Very yummy. Service is quick and friendly. Inside is very Irish bar and I like it. Want to try more of the menu. The Irish coffee is delicious as is the espresso martini.

Yelp
As a small business owner and a person who grew up in the Sunset, I can't tell you how happy I am to see a local establishment not only survive the pandemic but thrive. This place has made a huge turn around since it's days as Parkside Tavern. There was nothing wrong with PT, but something just feels different walking in here now. I've been here twice in the past few months and both times I've had nothing other than a good experience. Both times we we're lucky enough to have a band playing live Irish music too! There we're two things that really blew us away. They're arguably the most important things. **The food and the service** 1. Food was delicious, we love the menu. Everything was reasonably priced. Bangers and mash, Fish and chips, Cottage pie, Pork chops, Lamb chops, dessert, you name it. We haven't ordered something we didn't like. Sorry I didn't take any pictures. 2. The service was great. Actually better than great, I would say top notch. The first time we we're taken care of by Theresa (hope I spelled that correctly) She was attentive, friendly and patient. It's the small things that did it for us though. We didn't have to flag her down for a single thing. She was there before we knew we needed her. Water was getting low and she's there with a refill. Food comes out and she makes sure that everything was up to standard. She didn't rush us out when it was time to pay. Mind you this was all during a busy day. We were raving about how good she was during and after the meal. The second time we came, there was a large line and wait. I would say this is a sign of a successful business. We walked in with 4 people and asked how long the wait was. A gentleman named Brendan said very nicely "I'm going to be completely honest with you, it's going to be well over an hour for a table but you're welcome to sit at the bar with full dinner service" I've been to so many places where people would lie and say it will be 15 - 20 minutes as they're trying to keep you there but have you actually wait an hour. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the way he handled that. It goes a long way. We took the seat at the bar. We were treated exactly the same as someone sitting at table. Again, attention to the small details. Water was always full. If they saw an empty wine or beer glass, immediately asked if we wanted a refill. The food took some time to come out (again they were very busy) but appetizers came out very quickly so we weren't hangry. Towards the end of the meal, we asked Brendan to help us do something special for my moms birthday and he was able to bring out a small piece of cake with a candle. He even helped us take a picture in the middle of a busy dinner service. We left full, content, and most importantly, happy. We will absolutely be coming back and can't recommend this place enough. Good people here. Please give them a try and support a small business that really cares about their patrons and quality.

Yelp
Good food and a fun setting. Services is good. A nice local place for drinks and food.

Yelp
First time coming here. This place has a full bar which you can seat at. They also have tables if you like to dine in since they do serve food as well other than drinks. Great place to hang out with friends and family. This place is clean. Friendly staffs.

Phil G.

Yelp
The bartenders are friendly & work fast. The cream of crab is very good. It is a traditional bar & restaurant near the water (Ego Alley).

Yelp
Stopped by to watch a Warriors game on a Saturday night. The place is festively decorated with Christmas cheer. On a cold night ordered a hot buttered run and potato skins. Both were very good albeit a bit pricey. Service was friendly and warm, good local spot to check out if you are on Taraval.

Yelp
I love this restaurant, it never disappoints. The ambience is always lively and the food and service are excellent.

Yelp
My wife and I held our rehearsal dinner at O'Brien's, and we could not be happier! We live in the neighborhood and enjoy stopping by for dinner or a quick drink, so it was a natural choice. Rebekah provided us with several options and worked with us to craft our desired menu. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the food (Steak Fries, Salmon, and Guinness Lamb Stew) and drinks (too many to mention), and, most importantly, our server, Teresa, kept everyone happy. Once the dinner was over, our friends and family had a blast hanging out at the bar. The staff made an important night meaningful and memorable. O'Brien's is a true neighborhood gem.
google avatar

Yelp
Classic Irish pub ambience with Cheers neighborhood back. Decent food of the pub kind. Sadly when they closed Parkside Tavern and reopened as O'Brien's they dropped some of the less well known Irish foods such as champ and Colcannon. But the bar staff more than make up for it. Everybody may not exactly know your name but they're always glad you came.

Yelp
Since OIP is closed on Tuesdays, it's been more challenging to make time for a visit, but finally I made it happen. Im happy to report that the new iteration is at least as good as parkside tavern if not better. Food was delicious, the vibe was great, and the drinks on point as ever - do not skip. On the first trip since new name - tried the wedge salad, the curry, and the pork chop. The wedge - was inspiring -- much better dressing than trad blue cheese!! Tasted great!! Curry - for some reason I expected more of an Indian variety rather than Thai - regardless - the green curry was excellent. And finally the pork chop -- no joke - it should win awards - possibly best one I've ever had.

Yelp
My friends and I decided to drop in for dinner and we thoroughly enjoyed it! They have a decent amount of seating aside from the bar and it's brightly lit and had TV's playing above the bar. I'd say the ambiance is an upscale bar. We ordered the burger, fish & chips, and Chef's pasta. All the food was flavored well and had decently big portions that were great to share. The fish and chips were lightly battered and crispy, it came with malted vinegar and tartar sauce. The chef's pasta changes but we had a seafood red sauce with bucatini and it was delicious. The burger was enjoyable but wasn't anything special. We also opted for dessert and got the chocolate brownie and banoffee pie. I'd skip the chocolate brownie, it came out dry and had a burnt coating. The banoffee pie was the perfect dessert, it wasn't overly sweet and the fresh banana and graham cracker crust went so well together.

Yelp
We have been going to this neighborhood gem for years - back when it was Parkside Tavern - and now that it is O'Brien's. Maybe 15 years?! We were so glad that the new owner and many of the staff of the former restaurant stayed and that the same friendly faces are still here to greet us! The ambiance is wonderful. Full bar decked out and especially festive for the holidays with beautiful decor of lights and garland. So cozy. The menu for dinner is great. We love the steak frites, the salmon, the pork chop. The potato skins are a solid app especially during happy hour. The drinks here are also solid. They do a fantastic dirty martini. Wines are good to complement a meal also. The wait staff are attentive and so welcoming. One time I had a steak that I ordered medium and our server noticed before I did that it was way under done. She was proactive and made sure and took it back to get it cooked to my liking. I really appreciate how attentive and detailed the wonderful staff is here. A wonderful neighborhood spot. We love this place! Highly recommended!

Kim S.

Yelp
We where staying close by and decided to give it a try. 1st the Calamari was horrible! Dry, chewy and flavorless. My husband's pork chop was ok but a little dry and sauce was flavorless. I had really wanted a Rueben and they had corn beef and cabbage but was told it would be a $30 sandwich!!! Crazy, so I went with the smash burger. It was good but burger to bun ratio is off. Apple crumb was amazing!!! Service was good and attentive Would not make a point to stop in again. Too bad because it's a cute place.

Yelp
I happen to stumble upon this place while looking for a place to watch the Niners game on Sunday. I love this place! Not only is it beautiful inside but the food is great and the bartender was exactly what you want a bartender to be: kind, helpful and funny. This is my new spot!

Yelp
Came here with my girlfriend for dinner and had a great time. They had a live Irish band playing and great Irish beer on draft. The food is good. We started with the shrimp appetizer and holy cow it was amazing. Jumbo prawns served in a chipotle cream sauce. It was my favorite appetizer. We got the artichoke croquettes which were good, but could have been hotter. My gf got the fish n chips. Huge pieces, good batter. I got the Shepards Pie. It was good. Pretty standard, nothing super special. We ended with the Banoffee Pie and wow, it was freaking delish. It's a must if you're a dessert person. This is a great neighborhood spot that pays homage to Parkside. Has a great vibe and bar and the remodel gave it some much needed new vibrancy. I'll definitely be back to try more food!
google avatar

Yelp
Went here 2 days before St. Patrick's Day. Food was excellent! Service was great & friendly especially on a super busy night. Ambiance is very nice also. Will definitely be going back again!
google avatar

Jetsforme M.

Yelp
Food , service , and atmosphere all spot on. Happy hour eats are enough for dinner. Appetizer Fish tacos were awesome you get 2 large tacos with large piece of fish in each. Cheese croquettes were also very good. Basically everything we had were good. Will def come back again. Parking is typical neighborhood type parking.
google avatar

Ashley H.

Yelp
This place is great especially if you come during chill hours like right at opening. We came for brunch early one weekend and it slowly picked up but never got too loud inside, which was great. Service was wonderful and our host was great. The berry French toast was delicious! I'd definitely come back to try out some of their dinner options too!

Taylor C.

Yelp
If you're a true Irishman, want authentic food, great service, and extremely good drinks....go to Obrien's. I came in with two friends, extremely lucky to have Teresa as a server. All of the employees are a delight compared to the normal "what do you want?" servers you find at restaurants nowadays. You are treated like family, great drinks, the ambiance is that of a homelike, relaxed, judgement free place where you can come after work with friends, dinner with the family, and roll by the late hours for a nightcap. O'briens truly exceeds our expectations and we will now be regulars for much longer to come....

Dan M.

Yelp
Great service, great burger, great pint of Guinness. This is a fun neighborhood establishment.

Mayara O.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience thanks to the delicious food and Cherissa's service!! In addition to the environment being super pleasant and well decorated! I will definitely come back again

Yelp
Went there on a Saturday evening for some drinks and bites with coworkers at 5:30pm. Plenty of seating open, it was about half filled inside, and we were helped out very quickly. The bartenders were great and fast! The noise level was a little high, and made it hard to talk with eachother but that is a minor complaint. Food was delicious, pork chop, fried calamari, crispy shrimp and garlic fries.
google avatar

Rafael C.

Yelp
I had been wanting to try this place for monthsdid not have food, as I was going to have an early dinner. But I did enjoy bar - thank you Stefania! Dirty martini or a spicymargarita? - in the words of my daughter, "por que no los dos?!?!"

Yelp
We scored a hidden gem in the Outer Sunset with O'Brien's Irish Pub! It was clean, spacious, and welcoming. The friendly waitstaff, attentive and warm, made us feel right at home. When my husband and I picked this place as a restaurant to try this morning, we were expecting it to be packed, given their reasonable prices and delicious-looking menu items. We were surprised that it was fairly empty when we got there at noon on a Sunday. We must have lucked out. One waitress, one server, and one bartender were working, and there were only two tables with people. I ordered the Irish Benedict - Irish bacon topped with poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, and nestled on an English muffin alongside crispy, piping hot brunch potatoes for $19 and the mimosa for $9. My husband ordered the Apple Fritter Pancake served with fresh whipped cream, maple syrup, and powdered sugar for $15 and a coffee for $4. My husband said his meal was good and filling. My Irish Benedict was delicious. The hollandaise sauce was a bit thin and runny, but still tasty. I enjoyed my mimosa. They didn't skimp on the cava. The food came quickly, and the waitress was extraordinarily attentive and helpful. The entire place had a great vibe to it. By the time we were leaving, the place was beginning to fill up with people. We had a great experience and would gladly go there again. Their generous portions and reasonable prices left us both happy and satisfied.

Sean C.

Yelp
I've been here a few times to watch 49ers games. It's never too crowded, and I always manage to get a seat right in front of one of the big screen TVs. The atmosphere isn't too rowdy, and the bartenders are attentive and friendly. The food is also really good and nicely plated

Dennis B.

Yelp
Good food, great service. It can get a bit noisy, but it is a pub, so don't pick it for a quiet spot for romance or business, just to have a good meal & fun. Which we did.
google avatar

Kay D.

Yelp
You must try their roast chicken and pork chop! O'briens is one of the places to eat in when in Parkside/Sunset! Food is consistently amazing and delicious. My family and I eat here a lot and the establishment never disappoints! Chicken wings (sauce on side) is tasty also. I highly recommend and support!

Robert C.

Yelp
I was here on St. Patrick's Day and had some of the best Corned Beef and Cabbage I've ever had.. Hands down!! I was so excited to come back and try different items on the menu based on my previous experience but was extremely disappointed when I did. I had the steak sandwich which might as well should've been called the beef jerky sandwich. For the price point, you didn't get anywhere near the quality or quantity of beef one should get in a beef sandwich. There was more onions and bell peppers than beef!! Then let's talk about the Dutch crunch it comes with. I've had better 3 day old dutch crunch than this one. All that being said, the service was great as the first time I came but improvements need to be made to the steak sandwich. I wouldn't want that one experience to be the deciding factor of me returning or not.
google avatar

Mimi T.

Yelp
We live 4 blocks away and frequented place for years when it was Parkside Tavern. We were so sad when it closed down and rejoiced when O'Brien's opened up! The food menu is similar but elevated. Some of our favorites are corn beef cabbage, steak and peppercorn sauce...and of course their fish and chips are the BEST! We also love their brunches. The eggs Benedict is solid. The service is super friendly overall a terrific neighborhood spot.

Alison W.

Yelp
Happy with the new ownership. Easy food and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere. Live music sometimes too which is a plus.

Irene P.

Yelp
The service was fine. Ambience, not so good. Got there early on a Sunday, playing heavy metal music, loud. We asked them to turn it down, they didn't. The french toast wasn't the normal. My partner likes the french toast and said they must have changed the recipe as the last time we went my partner raved about it. As for my Irish breakfast, these were the smallest sausages I have ever seen in my life. Suggest the Fiddlers Green if you would like a great Irish breakfast. We were going to stay for an Irish Coffee but with all the noise and we couldn't talk to each other we left. As we were leaving they changed the channel as more people came in. Never going there again.

Vadym M.

Yelp
A fantastically authentic place. We found it by chance and have no regrets at all! The service, food, and drinks are all top-notch. The best place in Sunset.
google avatar

Sarah W.

Yelp
People were nice. Food was average. Ambiance typical of an Irish pub. Used a QR code to order a veggie burger.
google avatar

Wayne P.

Yelp
Always a pleasant experience. My sister & brother-in-law wanted to take me & my wife out for dinner. We made reservations via google (easy to do). My wife had fish tacos. The rest of us had fish & chips with a side of Brussels sprouts. All were more than satisfied. Generous portions. Our waitress took care of us,always available , my glass of tea was always full. Comfortable atmosphere, even with it gets busy. It can get loud but from my p.o.v it's a neighborhood (Parkside) having a great time! Worth a visit.

Johanna C.

Yelp
Great varied food and food choices as the menu is very good options for all, and good service as the staff are great and nice pub and resturant !!

Kurt M.

Yelp
I waited 5 minutes next to the " wait to be seated" sign. None of the 3 servers acknowledged me in any way. It wasn't busy. Perhaps 1/3 full. Very rude!
google avatar

Walter S.

Yelp
We went here for the first time since it's under new name and ownership. The remodeling changes are nice. We had the calamari appetizer which was good, crispy not rubbery but they need to get some cocktail sauce in the house which I prefer over tartar with calamari. We also had pappardelle pasta with prawns and lamb shank. Both were good and the lamb one of the best I've had. We will be back.

Darin F.

Yelp
Just a quick side of fries to go, and they were hot, crispy and delicious! And as always, very friendly service.

Sea M.

Yelp
A neighborhood gem. Great food and beer, good service, and fantastic decor and woodwork.

Barbara M.

Yelp
Food and service were great! Had a Negroni cocktail, made to perfection! Great atmosphere at O'Briens Irish Pub!

Jon L.

Yelp
Brendan was accommodating for our large party, and the service was excellent. Shout out to the waitress for being super nice and patient with us. Food was good too so we will certainly come back!
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Great local pup. The owner was very attentive, and the food was great. Would love to see corn beef and cabbage back on the menu. Drinks are great and generous

Bonnie K.

Yelp
Food was overpriced, salty, dried out and generally not good. EXTREMELY noisy and hard to talk b/c they had electric violins players right next to the tables. Would not go back.
