There are a few decent places around Beaverdale, but Parlor is my pick for 'best value, good vibe.' The bartenders are awesome, and I haven’t found a better happy hour around. Plus, I absolutely love their pizzas. Check out their menu—there aren’t many pizza places with such creative topping combinations. And they are all Detroit style, which is my favorite. Pictured (but not very well) is one of their March Madness specials—a beer and a burger meal for $10. Great deal. The fries are real potatoes. They make their own ranch. Loved it.

Went with friends for dinner. It was busy but not crowded. We were seated quickly. The staff are friendly. The server brought waters and menus quickly. We ordered various things, including the cinnamon roll skillet, the grilled cheese and tomato soup, and a pizza. I had a cherry cider. It was tart, but good. The soup was ok. A little acidic. The grilled cheese bread was great and nicely toasted but lacked enough cheese. The cinnamon roll skillet was nice, but the roll was cold in the center. The icing was syrup. The pizza was good. Good crust, nice edges. May return.

We went to Parlor on a Friday night, place wasn't full, Ashley our waitress was tentative and was patient with our group. I ordered a mixed drink, it was very watered down! My second drink I ordered a Old Fashioned it was better. Food had very good flavor and good portions for the price. Detroit style pizza was also very good. If in the Beaverdale area it worth a try!

Just discovered this place and went there two weekends in a row. If you like a nice deep dish crust, the pizza is SO good. Has a Parmesan cheese crusted Detroit style crust that is life. You can choose one of their creations or make your own (even half and half). Cheese curds are also delicious... Some of the best I've had. The Ace Guava Cider is now one of my favorite drinks! I only hope I can find it out in the wild for home 🤪 Service is pretty great too. We made a reservation online and our table was ready when we got there with menus and ice waters waiting. ❤️

Google
Food was an S Tier in comfort food. Absolutely fabulous! Staff was frequently present, and offering to refill me and my friend's drinks regularly. They were friendly, encouraging, and happy to talk a little when things weren't too busy. Perfect spot to sit down with a friend and discuss our plans for the future. Would most certainly recommend!

First time at the restaurant. I had the working class hero pizza. It was delightful. Hard to find different pizza.. That is good.. All the flavors went together perfect. $4.50 a slice. We will be back..

Google
I recently hosted a family celebration at Parlor - and it was perfect. First, the atmosphere was open and friendly - with both inside and outside options to enjoy. The vibe was friendly and provided a variety of food options that everyone loved. The wings and pizza were both delicious - with the pizza options providing options for both meat-lovers and vegetarians. The Parlor team is ultra-friendly - outgoing, helpful, and very service-oriented. Hannah made sure that we had everything we needed to make the party a success. It was nice to host a party at a place where everyone felt so comfortable and pleased with their food. Way to go, Parlor team!

Google
Food was mediocre, very salty. Nothing special about it. What I really dislike is that they sprinkled both the pizza and empanadas with lots of salt.

Yelp
Go here for happy hour! Pizzas are discounted to $14.99 for a whole pizza or $4.50 for a slice. We got the "I shot the sheriff" pizza. I normally don't like Detroit style pizza but ITS SO GOOD. Also if you love ranch on your pizza you have to try their ranch (bomb). Also! Drinks are half off during happy hour (3-6pm) so we each got a margarita for $4.25. The staff was friendly, quick, and can accommodate any pizza customization requests. I recommend sitting at the booths, but high top seating looked fun too!

Yelp
Wow! Just wow! Or better stated Yum! Just yum! I have enjoyed pizza and apps here as they have great happy hour specials and the pizza is amazing. In looking for a brunch site we discovered the Parlor offers this Friday- Sunday. We made a reservation for a party of 6 and sat at high tops with access to TVs. There is a nice bar but coffee and juice sufficed today although signature drinks were definitely tempting. We shared a skillet cinnamon roll and it was delicious. I have been missing Little Brother's but this actually is a fantastic replacement- just a scoop of butter on top and the warm, gooey cinnamon roll has the perfect sauce on the bottom to scoop up bites with. Our meals were so so good- breakfast burrito was stuffed, potatoes perfectly crisp and seasoned. Breakfast scrambles - get the sausage- so good! Eggs were a bit overcooked for my taste so ordering again I would ask for soft scramble. My men ordered biscuits and gravy which disappeared quickly. All meals came with two large pieces of sourdough toast lightly buttered- choices of blackberry, strawberry or pineapple. Ironically the only picture I took of food was from other guests- the breakfast pizza. Next level- and definitely will order next time to share! We had friendly and attentive service and our server catered to unusual requests - buttermilk with salt and pepper. 11/10!

Yelp
Bid space indoor and outdoor. They allow dogs on the patio. Service was good. I have ordered Detroit style vegetarian pizza with vegan and regular cheese. Vegan cheese was not good. I have tried vegan cheese lots of places, but this was not melted and had consistency of dip. Pizza was not even warm. The regular cheese was ok. I ordered ginger mocktal, which was refreshing.

Yelp
Great happy hour! If you like Detroit style this place is legit. Service was friendly and food came out hot and delicious.

Yelp
The Parlor continues to be our go to neighborhood spot for happy hour. A little bummed their prices went up, but honestly we have been anticipating it based on how expensive it is to go out to eat anywhere. The happy pizza deal is still a value for slices (which is actually a 1/4 of their pie). And now you can select from any pizza on the menu (it used to be a limited selection). They also are offering full pizza for $15 as a special. We always sit at the bar and love that we have become regular enough that they know us and give us great service!

Yelp
Original Review ---------------------------- I feel that this review may be a little unfair, but that it still needs to be said. For the record, everyone there was very nice. We were not able to try their pizza. Not because they were particularly busy, but because there were no seats for me. I'm 65, I am a big guy (ok, I'm fat). I have mobility issues. They have those high stool-esque chairs. Climbing up into one of those at my age and size, even if I managed it, would be terribly uncomfortable. We went to a booth. Also a step up, and I couldn't fit. There were regular tables against the wall, we were informed that they were all reserved. If you are a person of size. If you are in a wheelchair. If you have any sort of mobility issues ... this is not the place for you. I hope they fix this. I am perfectly willing to give it another try at some point. We will probably order take out sometime. For now I am putting this at three stars, just because I feel that is the right thing to do. Lower would feel a bit mean, higher, well, they don't rate higher. But for now, this is a place that is not friendly to someone like me. ------------------------- And an update We ordered two pizzas for take out. I have not had local Detroit pizza, so I have no frame of reference as to the accuracy of their pizza, but they are very tasty. It resembles Chicago deep dish, but the crust is much lighter and fluffier. They go quite light on the ingredients, which works very well. The pizzas are very flavorable. We had the Here You Come Again and the Working Class Hero. The HYCA has pepperoni, marguez sausage and bacon with a red sauce. This is the way to go if you like typical midwestern pizza. The pepperoni is mild, but blends in well with everything else. The sausage is lovely, also a very subtle flavor. The bacon is, well, bacon. How can you go wrong? The sauce has a nice mild tang to it. All in all this is a very tasty, typical pizza, albeit with a different crust than you may be used to. The WCH is a little feral. It has a lovely heat, but it is a fair amount of heat. Both my wife and I had one slice and set the rest aside for lunch tomorrow. We ordered two because we didn't know how big they were, one would have fed us nicely. I am adding a star because the pizza is very tasty. If they address the accessibility issues, this could very easily get 5 stars from me.

Yelp
It was our 1st time here and it was super positive. The server was super knowledgeable and attentive. We order a toasted focaccia appetizer and a house salad to split and both were tasty. We happened to arrive during happy hour one of use ordered the slices so they could try different pizza flavors I order a pizza of just one flavor and I would have to say that my dining companion was the winner... It is Detroit pizza and it is very authentic. You should check the place out because the food is great and the service is outstanding and the added bonus it is local! Support local y'all!

Yelp
First time at Parlor and did breakfast. Super good. Literally no complaints. Great quality breakfast. Huge, fluffy and buttery pancakes. Omelette came with the best potatoes. And definitely the toast must be pan fried to finish. And homemade preserves. Service was excellent. Feel like a hidden secret they do brunch. Definitely coming back for pizza and beers next time.

Yelp
We love their food, but we've stopped going here because the service is always poor. We came to visit with children, and it took them 30 minutes to get drinks, even though we emphasized that we would like those as soon as possible. We had to eventually just send my wife up to get the drinks. They had three people to cover the bar, door, and all the tables. If you're willing to put up with a frustrating experience at the restaurant itself, the pizza is good. But there are other options.

Yelp
My favorite pizza place in DSM. Happy hours has great deals. Pizza and sangria is amazing. And the BEST service every time we come.
google avatar

Yelp
This is our favorite Beaverdale joint! The best pizza and happy hour around! Sit at the bar or bring a big group, the staff treat you like family and no dish is bad! Come watch a football game or for date night, we love this spot!

Nicolette H.

Yelp
Gray pizza with quality fresh ingredients! You can do two flavors on one pizza for an extra $2 which is a nice touch! One pizza is perfect for 2-3 people. Fun atmosphere with a touch of sophistication. TVs everywhere for sports. Our server was amazing and gave the best service. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Julie D.

Yelp
The pizza was one of the best Detroit style pizzas I've EVER had. I would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a new pizza spot to try! The service was chill too. I keep going back!

Yelp
Overall a great spot in the Des Moines area! We came in on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't very busy, so we were able to get seated right away. We ordered the bacon wrapped dates as an appetizer which were wonderful, and for our pizza we did a half and half pizza with the Sweet Jane and I Shot the Sheriff. I slightly preferred the Sweet Jane, but both were very good. Portions are generous and the pizza itself doesn't feel too heavy. It almost feels like a nice focaccia bread with good cheese and toppings, so not as greasy as your typical pizza. It is Detroit style pizza, which if you've never had that, it's typically a square and has a thicker crust (which means you get these wonderful crispy cheese bits at the corner). I would return in a heartbeat and you should absolutely visit!
google avatar

Douglas K.

Yelp
Good food, good service and sports on TV. Can't beat that.
google avatar

Eric H.

Yelp
I've now been here three times in a matter of months. My favorites include the I Shot The Sheriff and a vegan combo that has both house made vegan cheese and vegan chorizo! The pizza is my favorite but I've also enjoyed the humus platter and the Chickpea Fritters. The ambiance is casuals and family friendly but you could absolutely take a date. The beer, wine, and cocktail list are much better than you would expect given the price point and style. I also liked the non-alcoholic options. The service is friendly but not overbearing and the timing of everything coming out of the kitchen is spot on. I'm definitely a fan!

Yelp
Went and got food and drinks with friends. 1st, the food was amazing! We all got Detroit style pizzas and they were some THICC slices. I got the "Jump In The Line" which was freaking delicious! 2nd, the drinks were great too, tied the meal and energy of the conversation nicely. Also our server, SUPER NICE AND KNOWS OUR VIBE, she gave us time to look over the menu and recommended options and made the night enjoyable and laughable for all of us!

Mike M.

Yelp
Had takeout. Second time. Mary Jane pizza. Overcharged by $2. Cold and bland. not sure we'll go back.

Yelp
An awesome Beaverdale pizza joint! Deep, crunchy edged, pan pizza with tons of flavor. This was our first time trying and and we are still not over the taste of the crust! We love pizza and trying new places but this is now on our list of places to come back to! We started with the empanadas and then we're wisely advised to do half and half pizza as it was going to be very filling for us two. Great recommendation as we didn't realize how deliciously thick and flavorful the crust is. I wanted the "proud Mary" which had cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, basil pesto and a red sauce. The other half was the "Here you come again" which was a great meat lovers type pizza. It had pepperoni, bacon, and Merguez sausage (we googled it was beef sausage) yummmmmm this was our favorite but both were very very good! I love this place and loved their menu. I saw sliders and other things on their menu that peaked my interest. Worth the drive to venture to this awesome pizza place tucked into the beaverdale area.

Yelp
Wanted to like this place...and I'll definitely try it again...but the pizza was not the star of the night. Garlic knots were good. Marinara was very flavorful. But the pizza was bland and undercooked. Service was friendly but gave us the wrong drinks and then forgot one of our toppings (we didn't realize until it was too late). Atmosphere was nice though the parking is a little weird when leaving.

Shaun L.

Yelp
Food was great, the manager of the bar seems very unqualified for her position. was only focused on a few select people while ignoring everyone else came off very rude and to be quite frank, I could've went and I know for sure the family sitting at the table behind me with the two small children could've also went without hearing the conversations she was having with the select few she was giving her attention to I can only assume that the amount of alcohol shots she was serving herself and one of her waitresses could have possibly contributed to this behavior. very unprofessional definitely not a good look for what seem to be a higher end pizza place... the immaturity and the unprofessionalism was extremely unfortunate
google avatar

Danie R.

Yelp
Pizza was nice and crispy and super cheesey. I like Detroit style but it's not my favorite. This one had a good fluffy bread to topping ratio so I was a huge fan. I got the 1/2&1/2, the pinball wizard and ain't it fun. It was $2 extra but so worth it. Tthe pinball has great eggplant and sausage on it and was a red based... the other side was white pizza with mushrooms, goat cheese, and caramelized onions. Both of them were excellent but the onions on the AINT it fun put me over the edge in love. The other thing I noticed was how well herbed it was. I love love love a good, herby pizza. It just really elevated it with the taste and aroma. Service was great. Also apparently they do happy hour daily 2-5p, $3 slices.

Yelp
Parking: They have a pretty small parking lot, but finding parking was tricky on a Friday night regardless; had to park a few blocks away in a different lot. Atmosphere: Very chic and clean and has a subtle music theme throughout some of the decor and fun menu item names. Two huge garage doors open up on one side for nice weather to extend the inside out. Seating: booths, bar, and high top tables. Food/drink: Delicious! Not just a pizza place that throws together their pies, but thoughtfully crafted food with ingredients that pair so well. Our app was AMAZING and so unique and recommended by our awesome waiter (shoutout Cory!). Detroit style pizza was so flavorful on a crispy, yet thick, and pillowy crust.

Yelp
Stopped in Sunday for a late lunch but was told it would be opening later @ 2.00 Decided it was worth the hour wait so came back for a few drinks, salads, and a Your So Vain pizza. A great white pizza and as usual Ben was on top of everything. You know Ben, he's been around the DSM food scene for years. A great hard working guy, make sure you say hi! It's a great place, and best of DSM for sure!

Patricia F.

Yelp
Great service and great food --love the ambiance! The pizza menu is out of this world--lots of vegetarian choices.

Jody B.

Yelp
Exactly what you're hoping a new restaurant experience to be! Fun, yet classy vibe. Good music playing. Kind staff. Cool aesthetic. And the food, the food! We ordered two pizza and did 1/2and 1/2 on each of them so we could try 4 pizzas we also did gluten free on one. The gluten free crust was, in my opinion even bette than the original crust because it had a light texture still while still maintaining the crisp crust. Will be back to try the apps and finish out the pizza choices!
google avatar

Cheyenne V.

Yelp
Detroit style deep dish pizza that has nice and crispy edges. They also recently began doing brunch on the weekends which was pretty good.
google avatar

Jim B.

Yelp
Probably one of the best restaurants in Des Moines. Good service, excellent cocktails and you don't have to drive 14 hours for good pizza.
google avatar

Emma R.

Yelp
The food was amazing!! Servers were very attentive and food was served in a timely manner. Atmosphere is super chill and fun. 10/10 recommend
google avatar

Carol M.

Yelp
Our first time here tonight. Awesome! We chose 2 pizzas. Stand By Me - spinach, mushrooms, onion, tomatoes and peppers. It was delicious. A tomato based selection. Our other choice was the You're So Vain - spinach, artichoke, olive, honey and mozzarella. So good!! Did I mention the crust? It has crunchy cheese wrapped around the edge of the crust. It's not deep dish and it's not thin crust. A happy in between. This is a well kept secret pizza joint in Des Moines. You have to check it out. For dessert we had the Chocolate Crunch Ice Cream Bar. Just try it. One of the best desserts in town. A definite restaurant on our return soon list.
google avatar

Andrea K.

Yelp
Good pizza, and now a lot more variety to the menu beyond pizza. Brunch was really good! Can't beat the patio and open dining space. And free shuffleboard!

Dawn M.

Yelp
Food was spectacular! Loved the atmosphere! Will definitely return. Quick friendly service.

Mast D.

Yelp
Come to Parlor! The menu is outstanding. We were in the mood to try Detroit style pizza so we popped in. Not only did we find a huge variety of slices but it was happy hour too. The beer is extremely fresh . The restaurant is open and airy too. We will be back! Next time we will try the impressive appetizers and more beer of course
google avatar

Sally L.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. The pizza was close to Detroit style but not quite the. When we asked the manager about different items on the pizza that were not mentioned on the menu his answer was "OH". Trying to figure out the items to order on a pizza we're not listed. You had to look at the menu and pick and choose from the pre fixed options. I don't think we can recommend this place. We do love other places owned by this same group. Our waiter was not helpful whatsoever.

Tim S.

Yelp
This by far is not a good pizza, crust is rock hard the sauce is bland and toppings weren't worth saving. My teeth still hurt from the crust being so hard.
google avatar

Diane B.

Yelp
Bar/gaming style restaurant but don't let that stop you! Their deep dish pizza is Amazing and they have excellent appetizers. Not your usual bar food by any means. Highly recommended!

Sarah R.

Yelp
Fun happy hour specials in an easy upscale atmosphere. Try pizza by the slice and sangria during happy hour
google avatar

Woody B.

Yelp
Great pizza and a great happy hour. Not far off the bike path in downtown Beaverdale.
google avatar

Rachel W.

Yelp
The bread. Omg the bread. We got the meatball and it came with focaccia. While the meatball was good, the bread took the cake. I could've eaten like six pieces of that and have been satisfied. The pizza was also top-notch. I LOVE Detroit-style pizza--that slightly burnt cheese. Mmmm! The crust was very similar to the bread. I'd highly recommend this new addition to Beaverdale! Vegetarian options available!

Kimberly S.

Yelp
Great food and good friendly service. Restaurant was clean and bathroom spotless Will be back

Yelp
Decided to get out on January 13 after a couple of snow days. We had pepperoni Stromboli, Italian club and a cheeseburger. All sandwiches were excellent. Fries good too. Our server who was awesome told us we arrived during happy hour and were able to take advantage of drink discounts that included a Des Moines IPA and Chardonnay. Great vibe- beautiful restaurant.
google avatar

Crystal H.

Yelp
Amazing pizza recipes and drinks with a laid back & fun atmosphere. The owner and servers are always top notch and easy to talk with.

Km B.

Yelp
I came to Parlor when it first opened- the chickpea fritters! The pepperoni fries, the fried cauliflower! All amazing. Haven't been been back for while, all those great apps are gone sadly. BUT the happy hour menu is a bonkers crazy delicious cheep slice and a well curated beer and wine choice! Seriously, I've had a late lunch of an amazing slice for $3.99 (4 by 8) and a 12oz deep dark chocolate stout and had a check of $7.40. It may have changed, dang it's still so frustratingly GOOD!

Yelp
Located in the Beaverdale neighborhood across from Beaver Tap this is a good pizza parlor find. We ordered the cheese curds to start which were delicious made with the white curds and crispy coating (for those of you who need specific details about which curds in particular) and served with a blueberry sauce that paired well with it. We ordered the Proud Mary pizza and it was amazing with crispy cheese edges not too much sauce and thick crust with the perfect crispy bottom. They also have sandwiches and pasta on the menu. My niece got the kid's spaghetti and I tried a bite and it was delicious. The server did a wonderful job and was very pleasant and attentive. The vibe I got from the decor is upscale pizza parlor and I thought it was nice. I will definitely go back and would recommend.
google avatar

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
Great pizza with plenty of unique and fun flavors. We tried the 'Jump In The Line' and the 'Here You Come Again'. Both were great and we will be back to try the other pizza flavors! We also got an order of cheese curds which were great and Nashville hot chicken sliders which I was not super impressed by. The chicken was very thin and very dry. Overall a great experience though and will go again!

Kevin P.

Yelp
I love this pizza! We get it every time we visit our daughter. Never disappoints. I finally figured out why I like it so much. It's the crispy cheese (caramelized?) on the side of its fluffy crust. Also generous amounts of toppings.
google avatar

Mary V.

Yelp
We ordered a Detroit style pizza. They allowed us to pick two "flavors"-- which was awesome! We got to try the "Are You Sure Hank Done it This Way" and "You're so Vain". Both were very good flavor wise. But, the texture was not accurate. I think they should consider cooking the pizza a bit longer. The depth is perfect but the crust is very soggy not crispy. Hopefully, they'll fix this going forward. We tossed the pizza in the air fryer and it came out just right!
