"A city redevelopment project of gargantuan proportions, this 10km stretch of green space along the city's Manzanares riverbank replaces the former M-30 freeway, which now runs underground. Its completion in 2011 brought local Madrileños back to the riverbed with a system of restored bridge monuments, new footbridges, or Cáscaras, an urban beach for sunbathers, 17 new playgrounds, and kayak docks. What's more, it's stitched neighborhoods like Arganzuela, Carabanchel, and La Latina—once dissected by the city's traffic—back together, making them all completely walkable. Rent a bike or stroll the riverbank to check out the park's features, such as the fruit tree arboretum recreating that of the formal royal palace, or the pine walk which is almost directly above the now submerged M-30. All of this is the work of an impressive, 4-year collaboration between the Dutch firm West8 and Madrid's own MRIO. Photo: © West8  "

Lovely except it needs to be designated to walk, ride and skate to the right because that would avoid mishaps. I suggest bright yellow arrows on the ground to show pedestrian "traffic flow."

Enjoyed walking around this park and having a picnic. It's quiet and there are some playgrounds for both younger and older kids to enjoy climbing around. There was a spigot for drinking water.

Cute Park for a walk, quite tiny though. Nice for kids with some playground areas.

The park is parallel to the River Manzanares which makes it nice leisure spot. Park offers wide variety of options for relaxation, doing sports or just for strolling along. Two extraordinary bridges are located here as well. Park is great to visit with kids during hot days, because there are couple of fountains in which the little ones can play and freshen up. Definitely recommend to visit this park while you are in Madrid.

Absolutely amazing park at the outskirts of Madrid. Two outstanding bridges surround the park and a river goes through it. The first bridge is ancient and the second is ultramodern and futuristic. I would definitely recommend visiting Parque Madrid Rio if you want to do a little jog, relax or just see the two bridges!

Fantastic park for wandering around

It's more of a dry and quiet park outside of Madrid. I would not recommend it on hot days, but with a bike or to relax it is very nice.

Yelp
I stumbled across this largely by accident as I had arrived from my day trip to Toledo earlier than originally planned and still had the urge to explore something new. Unlike Retiro Park and other spots, this is one more partaken by the locals of Madrid rather than the tourists like me. Because of the heat, I didn't really explore the area in full. However, it's serene and blissful in the midst of a bustling metro. It's quite the way to escape from the madness. Fortunately there is easy metro access here so it isn't hard to reach.

Yelp
The decision to place one of Madrid's highways underground provided an unprecedented opportunity to locate the city of Madrid within its surroundings, achieving a greater environmental biodiversity and a city that is greener, more habitable and sustainable.

Yelp
I saw there was river in Madrid on the map, So I just decided to come here have a look. So I just took the metro and follow the beautiful park and then I reached the river. Río was much smaller than I imagined. Well, maybe I should say that the river was nearly dry out. I could see the old track of the water level. It was quite sad to see that. I did see some bird around, it was quite a peaceful place actually. I walked along the river from the bridge Puente de Toledo till the Matadero Madrid. It was great place to have a wall. The park near the river was amazing. Very peaceful place and beautiful. There were two really amazing bridges here as well. I like how different they looked. But yet both of them were outstanding.

Yelp
Been in Madrid 6 times now & had no idea there was a river running through Madrid!! What an amazing find a brilliant wee haven away from the busy city so much to do or..... do nothing it's that kind of place! Some great wildlife & they've planted herb gardens all over the place, to me this is a place for the old, young and all the years in between. I think this is now one of my favourite things to do in Madrid & as it's less well known there's less tourists which is such a contrast to Sol, even some of my Spanish friends didn't know this existed or if they did they didn't realise what a brilliant place it was. My next trip to Spain I'll be there for sure exploring more of the walkways!

Yelp
The best parque with a biking route. Very clean and beautiful. Love to go there with my bike. Its amazing that you can start from principe pio and go upto legazpi matadero in 15 mins avoiding the hussel bussel of the streets.

Yelp
River park in Madrid, one may enjoy renting a bike beside the Royal Palace and ride along the linear park, through the bridges to the Toledo bridge. Highly recommended!
