"Parts & Labour, Parkdale by Format. Matty Matheson, executive chef of Parts & Labour, is known for his rogue personality as much as his cooking skills. When he’s not hosting his own show on VICE Munchies, he’s whipping up the kind of high-end Canadian cuisine that turned Parkdale into a culinary destination. In fact, P&L’s burger was voted the best in the city. Below the restaurant is The Shop, a venue that hosts everything from punk shows to comedy nights — including No No Pony, a monthly event where they play “Pony” by Ginuwine every hour, on the hour."

Love this place! Some of my favourite things on the menu are the P&L burger, fries chicken, cheesecake sundae. They have great drinks as well. It's a cool spot to hang out with friends or have a date night.

Came here for Summerlicious but was unfortunately was not impressed. For appetizer we had the octopus and the beef salad. The octopus was pretty good and enjoyed the dip that came with the taro chips. The beef salad wasn't bad either. The entree was subpar. We got the steak and the pork tenderloin. The steak was cooked fine But I think could definitely be seasoned more. The salad was the worst part. I felt they didn't really do anything with it. They pretty much threw oil and vinegar on the very bitter watercress and some raw shallots and thai chilis (which was also what seems like on everything else on the menu). My partner also did not enjoy the pork very much. The dessert was meh as well. I found my trifle cake dry. My partner also didn't really care for the chocolate cake either. As with most restaurants doing Summerlicious, dessert always seems like an after thought or not fresh. My partner may give the regular menu a chance, but I think I'd rather go to other restaurants. I also want to mention that their chairs are extremely uncomfortable, and The server we had didn't seem like shebwas familiar with the menu. I mentioned to her that the shallots are raw (my stomach doesn't really do well with raw onions, which I understand was my fault for not making that clear in the first place), and she said they were pickled but clearly was not, she then just says it's a garnish.... I don't think she understands what a garnish is. She then pretty much avoided us other then to take our plates and give us our check for the rest of the night. All in all, this is my honest review. Best of luck. Food: 2/5 Service: 2/5 Atmosphere: 3/5

Pretty good place that's closing down. Great service! The food is good but not amazing - I didn't get what the hype with the burger was about to be honest. The chicken was sufficiently spicy, wish it came with a bit thicker toast. Was sad to hear that they didn't have a bunch of beers on tap I wanted to try as well that night.

If you're a foodie and love trying new places, make sure this hits your list! The burgers were so flavorful and melted in your mouth. The drinks were so fresh and on point! We will definitely be back if we're in the area. The staff and bartenders were so pleasant, they even made sure my daughter enjoyed her time by making her feel comfortable.

Amazing restaurant with their own rooftop garden and beehives. Would recommend this place to everyone and anyone! Their P&L burger was scrumptious.

Parts & Labour is a must in Toronto cuz Matty Matheson is that dude yo! Sounds like a little hip restaurant, but P&L has some real regal stuff on their menu. Keep in mind that this joint is not for the stingy crackers, it's pretty bougie with desserts in the $12 steakhouse range, definitely word every penny doe. Giving a shout-out to my stingy dudes: on Tuesday they have a "Fried Chicken" special where 2x can eat for $26. On Wednesday you can get a "Burger" + "Beer" for $18 - beats ordering a pizza if you ask me.

Went to P&L for Winterlicious $38 tasting menu with my partner. 4 stars for service, 2 stars for food Services was great! Hostess was accommodating to moving our reservation earlier. Our waiter was there when we needed him, got us drinks fast and food came quickly able to do some modifications for us on sides. Food- Apps: Calamari: was alright, seasoned okay.. nothing too special Roasted cauliflower: bland, watery, and seasonless. At least needed some salt. Mains: Steak frites: cooked perfectly rare, can't complain about that. The sauce and seasoning was too sweet taking away from the steak. Burger: I've heard so many good things about p&l burgers but I was really disappointed with the burger. The meat was maybe overworked and over-cooked. Was pretty tough instead of tender. Good size though. My side potatoes wedges were crispy and seasoned well, good portion but on my plate was a big oil pool. Not sure if it came from the meat patty or fries. Desert: Chocolate cake: once again average, like a Supermarket cake. Creme brûlée: i thought this might salvage our meal but.. probably almost as disappointing as the roasted cauliflower. It looks great until you eat the custard. The custard was warm on the outside, dead cold in the centre. I don't think they baked it properly because there was some grainy texture to it. Overall/TL;DR my partner and I believe that $38 is pretty steep. Also in considerations of raving reviews the quality of food did not live up to expectations. Will not go back again.

Good little place to snag an amazing burger, drink some beer or cocktails, and socialize. The staff are friendly and can offer suggestions if you're torn while deciding your purchase. Prices are consistent with the neighborhood.
