Party Favors - a family tradition

We ordered cakes and cupcakes for our boys’ circus-themed birthday party from Party Favors, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience! Danny was fantastic to work with—friendly, attentive to detail, and really took the time to understand what we wanted. The cakes came out beautifully and tasted even better. So many of our guests commented on how delicious they were! Party Favors truly helped make our celebration extra special, and we’ll definitely be back for future events.

I ordered a custom cake for my brother’s 30th birthday and they nailed it! I asked for a bbq theme with hot dogs and burgers and the creativity displayed on the cake was above and beyond what I could have imagined! I will always get my cakes from party favors! Their display cakes are also cute and tasty if you’re in a pinch

We got our cake of our elopement from here, and the whole experience was amazing! Their cakes are truly amazing, and the staff is soooo nice! We truly loved everyone we interacted with, and they made everything stress free and fun for us! Will definitely be our new go to spot for special occasions!

We always get our kids birthday cupcakes here and the Party Favors team has done amazing variations over the years. A Solar system. The very hungry caterpillar and their wonderful animal designs. This is an amazing family run business and we are lucky to have them in Brookline!

We purchased cupcakes for a graduation party. The customer service was really great. Very helpful and patient. They were ready as promised. Best of all the cupcakes were delicious!! So well decorated. You won’t be disappointed! Highly recommend!

I went in to order a cake for my son’s first birthday, and unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing. When I placed my order, no notes were taken, which should have been a red flag. When I arrived to pick it up today, I waited 15 minutes for them to bring out a cake that was completely different from what I had requested. It honestly felt like they went to the back and threw something together on the spot because they had forgotten my order entirely. I ended up waiting around 20 minutes, only to be told that they wouldn’t issue a refund. They offered to fix the cake, but that would require me to come back again—something I really couldn’t do with everything else going on for my child’s birthday. The lack of accountability and poor customer service were extremely frustrating. I will not be returning, and I absolutely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

10/10!!! Absolutely obsessed with party favors! This was my first time ordering from here and it did NOT disappoint! I'm a bit of a cake snob - most beautiful cakes don't taste great. The cake here was one of the best cakes I've ever had. They were so easy to work with and the cake was absolutely beautiful. I won't be ordering from anywhere else.

First things first: Generally speaking, the pre-made cakes and treats at Party Favors are amazing and their buttercream frosting is out of this world. Whenever I need a cake or cupcakes, this is where I go. This review is for the custom cake I ordered last month, though. The team did an amazing job decorating the sheet cake for my husband's 40th. I provided them with a list of items to include and couldn't have been more pleased with the result. Just look at the detail on the cats! :) Highly recommend for your custom cake needs, or if you're just stopping in for your sugar fix.

We loved the cupcakes for years but this last purchase (may 2025) the colorful frosting flowers on top of the cupcakes had a terrible chemical taste. The white frosting right on top was fine so I'm assuming it's the dye. We had to cut off the flowers ( which are a huge part of their cupcakes) and throw them away. The bitter chemical taste lasted for hours in our mouths. Very very disappointed.

Just stopping by again to say this place is my life and I order it from UberEats about 50 times a year and I eat everything I order in its entirety. BUTTERCREAM or BUTTERDREAM? DREAM.

Party Favors does an exquisite job of cake decorating. And the cake itself is moist and yummy. However they are quite expensive. Twice now I have purchased a wide selection of their delicious looking pastries. I found them all to be disappointing. Flavor was bland and the crust was very thick in proportion to filling in the pies and tartlets. Just a reminder that looks aren't everything!

Party Favors is a lovely bakery owned by husband and wife, Mary Lynn and John, who are both talented and extremely nice. Every time we buy something, I say the same thing, This is the best I've ever had! Today we purchased raspberry wrap cookies and vanilla, French macarons. And at the risk of repeating myself as always, These are the best I've ever had! Both varieties are light, and just plain delicious! It's also no surprise that Mary Lynn and John have the nicest employees, and I especially want to give a shout out to their most recent employee, Danny. Much like the rest of the Party Favors team, Danny is sweet and authentic. I appreciate that he really went out of his way to guide me on today's purchase. I don't know how many times the poor man went back and forth between Mary Lynn and me--- answering all of my questions. It really doesn't get any better than that!

I drive across the city for their cupcakes. Theyre delicious. Creative flavors and they switch it up often. They also have cookies, truffles, chocolates, tarts, candy etc. Also plenty of cool party supplies and decorations for lots of different occasions and a small featured section for whatever holiday is up next (right now an easter display is up). They make full cakes (including weddings) and helium balloons. Support small businesses :)

The custom cakes from Party Favors are always delicious - the cake is never dry, the icing is always thick, the decorations always better than you think they ought to be. But the thing about Party Favors is that they always come through. We've ordered birthday cakes for our girls from there for years, with themes and without, and at the last minute sometimes, and they just flat out come through, with such grace and good humor. These people cater heaven.

My sisters just got me a birthday cake from this bakery. The cake was an overwhelming visual delight. All edible decorations, most made from buttercream frosting. It was a container garden theme and the artistic detail was awesome.The look alone was mind-boggling. The taste was fantastic, the cake, the frosting, each decoration (yes, we sampled all...we are pretty tough judges on food, especially desserts.). Now if only my real garden looked as beautiful. Party Favors is a Brookline institution! I've gotten multiple different things to celebrate for my partner over the years (and vice versa). The staff are always very friendly and accommodating to help make every event special! Recently had our wedding cake tasting through Party Favors which was excellent. They also contribute to the community such as giving out free cupcakes on Brookline First Light Festival! I'm happy to support the local business and it's top notch.

Hello, If I had the option to post 10 stars I would have chosen 10 stars !!!! I was introduced to Party Favors many years ago from my best friend whom we as a family,called Uncle John, because he was very close to my daughter and I . Uncle john always used Party Favors to end his very exclusive dinners and events he would host at the Devonshire Apartments in Downtown crossing in Boston MA He himself was a very elegant man who wanted nothing but the best for himself and his clients,that lived there, and they all appreciated him for doing that for them. Party Favors always provided that for him, as well as for my daughter and I because we live on the Cape and on any birthday he made sure that he provided me with my favorite cake from them which is the Rocky Road Cake and my daughter's was any of their Gluten Free which were always amazing !! Uncle John is no longer with us for the last 4 years so it has been that long since I have had a cake from them, but I recently hosted my daughter's baby shower at a Boston restaurant and I not only needed the best Cupcakes and Gluten Free ones in addition to the regular ones. So who did I think to call ??? Party Favors !!! So my daughter once again got to have the best Gluten Free cupcakes at her baby shower but ala Uncle John, her guest got to enjoy the best cupcakes ever!!! They also provided all the balloons which were also beautiful and delivered everything !! As an added surprise to me they also included a Rocky Road Cake as a gift from them and Uncle John that was such as surprise that I cried happy tears !! My family and I have been coming to get cupcakes here for YEARS! Their frosting is outstanding and it's easily our favorite go-to place. A few weeks ago, my family and I picked up a couple chocolate cupcakes. Much to our surprise, they tasted like cinnamon. The cinnamon flavor of the cupcake was so overwhelming that we couldn't finish them. Unfortunately, we learned that the cinnamon flavor is a result of their new cupcake recipe. So sad to have to say goodbye after being a customer for almost 40 years.

Party Favors never disappoints! My son, who enjoys mountain hiking, just graduated college. I asked for a "pull-apart cupcake cake" that looked like a mountain. It was spectacular! The mountain had frosting pine trees, chocolate rocks near the bottom, a graduation cap at the top and a diploma--all edible. The cupcakes were soft, moist, and full of flavor. The rich, creamy frosting was to die for! It definitely wowed our guests and delighted my son. Thanks party favors--your cake rocked!

I love to bake, and I hate Amazon, so finding good tools is very hard! I was very happy to find this place- I think I spent some $40 on baking supplies? Great for all that I got. Just wish they had more variety. And about the mini cupcakes at the front, I tried to walk past them, I did! But they looked so freaking good I ended up taking 4 home. And by home, I mean the bench outside. Super delicious!

I'm adding to this review, one year after they made a perfect cake for my son's first birthday. Today is his second birthday and they made another PERFECT cake!!! He is obsessed with buses as well as animals so this cake made him so happy. Thank you thank you!!!

Finally got to stop inside party favors in Coolidge Corner! They have everything you could ever need for a party... decorations, plates, goody bags, cake decorations and more! Seriously the perfect place to stock up before a party or holiday! They also have a bakery section that was filled with pre decorated cakes and cupcakes, speciality cupcakes and cookies, truffles and more! They even had buttercream flowers that you could buy to add to your own cake. I ordered the mini cake which was beautifully decorated with flowers and was only $9 for three servings. It was slightly dry although I had left it in the fridge for a while which might have caused that. But I would definitely buy another! A must visit in Brookline at least for a walk through!

I admit my cake standards are very high. This year I decided I'm not going to cook or bake my own bday cake so ordered a 6" chocolate decadence torte from Party Favors which from what I recall from the past has been one of the few cake shops I don't mind eating cakes from. My fave is Konditor Meister but that's quite a drive... This cake was sloppily decorated, and the mousse to cake ratio is about 4:1. The vanilla buttercream was grittier than in the past and overly sweet. The ganache was ok as was the mousse filling, but the paltry amount of cake was disappointing. Party Favors is off my short list.

I've been here twice and both times were completely underwhelming. The cupcake I had tasted like it had been in the refrigerator for days. I gave it another try thinking maybe it was just a bad batch but it was the same experience.

VERY reasonably priced and tasty baked treats (cupcakes, mini cupcakes, cookies, tiramisu, etc). I got two 4" cakes and three cookies for less than $12. Also a great selection of fun party supplies, cards, seasonal gifts, and candy. Only complaint is that they close a little on the earlier side.

I ordered Sesame Street cupcakes from Party Favors for my niece's second birthday. Our family enjoyed the cupcake design- it really brought our themed party to life! We ordered some gluten free cupcakes which were a bit drier than expected, but still good .Their regular cupcakes were very moist and tasted great. Pick up was easy and we were able to buy decorations/balloons as well. It's a great one stop shop!

This is the place to go for a cake if you love buttercream frosting like me! They have beautiful cakes with the best frosting you ever had! They also have extra sugar flowers that you can add to the cake for even more decoration. And the cakes are really reasonably priced! They also have actual party favors and decorations, etc.

I'll be honest. I knew nothing about this place but a couple of days ago I ordered a half dozen of cupcakes for one of my employees birthdays. It was a last minute order through Yelp and I really wasn't expecting much from the cupcakes. They delivered so quick! Granted, I didn't have the cupcakes customized or anything but I was shocked at the great customer service. Second, the cupcakes were AMAZING, the right level of sweetness in the icing for me and the cake was nice and moist. I'll certainly order for more birthdays in the office

My family has been ordering cakes from Party Favors for years. Their product is always consistently delicious. We love the buttercream frosting they use. Most recently, we ordered a cake for my brother and with only a few days I was able to pick from one of their lovely featured designs and have it customized with a message. The cake was $77 for a 2 tiered 25 person cake. It was delicious, too!

FIVE HUNDRED STARS if it's my option! They literally saved my life! I ordered a cake from another bakery in Boston, and cake exploded on my way back, I was so terrified! The owner and his team saved me from hosting a cakeless birthday party! The owner and the team was AMAZING!!! The cake cake out exactly how it looked and only within an hour! This is going to be the only cake shop I will visit in MA! Best customer service, amazing owner and crew, beautiful cake and it tasted awesome! Please stop by if you need an cake for any occasion and they also have party decorations!!!! Amazing!!!!

I like the concept of this place. They sell all kinds of party favors plus baked goods. It's great because it's one stop party shopping. I'm surprised that more independent party favor stores haven't thought to offer up baked goods. That said, we stopped in here to buy some cupcakes. The cupcakes come in 2 sizes---really huge and really small (or as they refer to them "petite"). We decided to get 4 "petite" cupcakes as it would be a good way to sample different flavors. I told the clerk that we wanted 4 small cupcakes and she looked at me like I had 2 heads. "Small? What do you mean by small?", she asked. My husband pointed to the spot in the display case where the cupcakes were and she said, "Oh, you mean petite". Okay...whatever. Once that was settled, we chose 1 vanilla, 1 key lime, 1 red velvet and 1 Boston cream. Later in the evening, we tried them. The vanilla, which was garnished with a vanilla wafer had good vanilla flavoring and wasn't overly sweet plus the vanilla wafer wasn't stale. The key lime was garnished with a fresh lime slice. My husband bit into the slice thinking that it was a piece of candy and was surprised to find that he was wrong. He thought that the frosting had good lime flavor. The red velvet one had buttercream frosting and only a faint hint of cocoa. As for the Boston cream, the top looked like a Boston cream pie but that's where the similarity ended, as there was no custard underneath the frosting. Overall, there were some hits and misses but basically, these cupcakes are "A-OK". I'm sure that they would appeal to kids. If you are in Coolidge Corner and crave a cupcake, these will fit the bill. However, it's not worth making a special trip for them.

Amazing! Party Favors made an awesome cake for our eighth year olds birthday. Came to them with a custom order and they created this colorful masterpiece. And the cake is delicious!

Whenever I encounter an employee that is rude, short or makes me feel like I'm inconveniencing them, I always remember this - Nine times out of ten, that behavior is created and nurtured from the top down. Such is the case with Party Favors. I've lived in Brookline for 20 years and have gone to there for almost every birthday, holiday and every other special occasion. They have delicious treats but I'm always made to feel like it's all about them. They never ask you if you need help and when you ask them, they sort of just stare at you waiting for you to ask them a question. I've actually gone there so much that I was able to track the history of a new employee..First time I met her, she was super nice and attentive..said thank you, etc...2 weeks later, she barely looked at people and half answered people's questions. A month after that, she was gone and replaced with another high school aged person...There are Hugh employee drop off rates there..see where I'm going? I most recently went in there for a birthday cake for my father is turned 98 (Yes, 98). I asked them if they would inscribe "Holy S**T, you're 98." My dad would have gotten a kick out of that..I mean, how many people get close to a century old, right? They said "No. It's a family friendly place!" and tried to make me feel bad about asking to put an "S, * * T" on a cake. I didn't ask them to display it.. I won't debate what's family friendly or not..and my review is not because of this. My poor review is because the family who owns Party Favors doesn't care to do better. There is no motivation for them to improve - people will always come in because of their location, lack of competition and they make a decent product. I see this happen a lot with family owned establishments...they inherited it from their relatives and have no training or even influences on how to be pleasant and helpful to both employees and customers. I'll still continue to go there..just want them to know that the word is out..we all talk about how rude you are at our various parties and events as we eat your delicious cupcakes.

Ice, ice, baby... when you are ordering icing on ur cookies, but not so much when you pick them up! BUT ice, ice, baby when you call to ask why? Party (dis)Favor, where the customer is never right, and the cookies are only iced in the display case.

It's so great to have a party supply store in Brookline! This store has everything you could need for your festivities. Balloons, seasonal decorations, cakes, cupcakes, cookies, cards, and more. My favorites are the sugar cookies and carrot cupcakes.

One might think delivery food might be ready to eat, ya know UPON delivery. Well once the half-dozen gluten free cupcakes were received me and roomie proceeded to dig in while watching The 100 on Netflix. The 100 did not disappoint. While these cupcakes just made me glad, GLAD I OWN A DUST BUSTER, crumbs are freaking everywhere. I called Party Favors, the dude who answer the phone was nice Yeah props to him, but I am MIGHTY MIFFED to be told that gluten-free cupcakes "should be left at room temp for an hour before serving." WELL maybe include that somewhere, if not on the site from which delivery is ordered, then SOMEWHERE on the packaging. I cannot believe I just spent over $20 on these cupcakes. Cause I am equal parts naive and driven by PMS cravings I decided to try again once the hour was up. CRUMBS EVERYWHERE AGAIN! At least this time I ate over the box. SO disappointed, I wish I had just gone to Trader Joe or Treat for cupcakes. I know Gluten-free cupcakes are a want not a need but still I am ANNOYED and want to warn Gluten-free folks away from this place.

Cupcakes!!! I've tried so many flavors here - the lemon, passion fruit, German chocolate, hot chocolate, Boston cream, peanut butter and many more. They've all been so flavorful, just the right amount of sweet, not "eggy" and always fresh. Everytime you walk in, there's a chance you'll see different flavors and it's fun to try something new. It's one of my favorite places in Boston to get cupcakes.

Our cake was just delivered today and I am blown away it is so gorgeous. It came in perfect condition not even a dent. They have exceeded my expectations we are so excited to try it!!!!

Ok I loved this place. The cakes always amazing and the cupcakes are to die for!!!!! They come in a few sizes and are always topped with tons of frosting. I love their decorating skills and the chocolate cake they use is so good. But their catering....not a fan. We ordered over 300 cupcakes for our office and called 2 weeks before to schedule it. Our cards were charged before hand which was fine, and we were told they would arrive within 2-3. Fine. But 3:30pm and we still hadn't gotten our cupcakes. We called and called and they told us the driver had left a while ago. He shows up at 4 and drops the cupcakes off. I'm giving 3 stars because I love this place and always have since I was a kid, but be careful with catering the experience was horrible.

Picked up their giant cupcake (reg. $39.99) for fun (and a birthday). It was cute! They showed me the cake before resealing it for me to take. Loads of sweet frosting covered this cake - great if you like the stuff and you like it supersweet, but a little too much for us. With all that frosting, the cake was moist enough though. Before visiting the cake pick up counter, I took a walk around the store - nice looking pastries and cookies. On the other side are a variety of party supplies.

FINALLY! I seriously have lived in Brookline for 6 years and have never tried a Party Favors cupcake or cake. I KNOW. I don't know how it happened, but it did. So, when my friend announced her birthday celebration, I decided to get her some (surprise) cupcakes and KNEW it was my chance. I had planned on pre-ordering the cupcakes, but we ended up just going in that day and choosing from their selection. We ended up getting 2 dozen of the tea (mini) cupcakes, which I think came out to about $19? Not too shabby. Oh - that included 1 mini red-velvet my husband and I split right there at the counter, to be sure the goods were... good. (They were.) Everyone (including myself) LOVED the cupcakes (we did 1/2 yellow and 1/2 chocolate) and I am drooling right now thinking of them. Just the right amount of delicious frosting. Ok, I need to stop before I bolt over there and order a dozen for myself. Definitely let the cupcakes (and probably cakes) get to room temperature before devouring. They are MUCH better. I've sampled their fudge before - pretty standard - and their selection of well, party favors, are extensive.

Party Favors is the go-to for any and all party needs, from high-quality decor and paper goods to the most beautiful and delicious desserts ranging from custom cakes, cupcakes, and even cookies, and chocolates. The owner, John, is a true artist and will help your custom cake visions come to life. But what I love most about this operation is that they all work as a team - everyone is working and helping to meet the needs of the clientele with kindness, generosity, and helpful insight while incorporating their talents into different parts of the store. This is a place full of passion, art, and excellent customer service. Not to mention the cakes, cupcakes, etc. are delicious EVERY TIME! Never too sweet, perfect ratios of cake to frosting or icing to cookie, and fun, crowd-pleasing flavors. We had an office party and it was our IT manager's birthday. John made a delicious rum-soaked cake with a very nice chocolate ganache poured over the top, and the decor he came up with for the cake was genius and so well received. I could go on and on about how great this place is and how much we love Party Favors. Near or far from their location on Beacon Street in Brookline, Party Favors is worth a stop, whether it's for quick cupcakes, paper goods, or the most glamorous cake you could imagine! I love this place. Everything party related in one store. I've bought their ready made cakes and it's tasty. I've bought their custom cupcakes and it's delicious as well. Price is reasonable too.

Oh delicious cupcake, delicious cupcake! wherefore art thou delicious cupcake? The Modern Day Tragedy begins with the girl strolling into Party Favors for a few of the pretty floral cupcakes, but she saw the giant cupcakes in the case by the register.... and her heart was torn. The old tried-and-true standby, or the big ones? She went with the big.... and that was the mistake: the carrot cake lacked flavor, the coconut one had good frosting, but bland cake. Moral of the story: stick with your one true love, and don't try to trade-up to the $4.50 cupcakes.

Fantastic establishment. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. Came in the day prior for a birthday cake and was able to order the cake I wanted with know problems. I was worried they would not be able to fulfill my order but to my surprise it was not an issue. Needless to say the cake was fantastic and my one year old loved his birthday cake!!!

I've have been a fan of Party Favors and picking up desserts from their store for years. Their filled cupcakes are delicious and the designs on all of their cupcakes and cakes are awesome looking! I've never had trouble walking in and out to either buy cupcakes already made or a cake that just needs "Happy Birthday" on it. I did find trouble recently with wanting to purchase a custom cake. After many years of loving their work I thought I'd splurge and get a custom cake made for my boyfriend's birthday. When I called to order (per instructions everywhere) I was rudely addressed as though I was wasting their time and didn't understand that it would cost around $100 (which I did expect). They then had me email them regarding the cake and what I'd like done and said I must do it soon because this is their busy season as though I was bothering them. I emailed them within 20 min of my call and didn't receive any response for about 4 days when they said it'd be no problem and priced it. I ended up going else where since I felt like they were pretty rude to me about everything plus I got a better and quicker response elsewhere two days prior. Stick to the quick purchase in the shop and avoid anything custom made and that seems to be the best bet here.
