*Edit: I do appreciate the response, I just didn't like the way the intake made me feel. It was a bad first impression. I hope kitty made it into a good home. Thanks! Found a kitten in the middle of the night, brought it here the next morning. I already have a dog, and this kitten obviously needed a lot of cuddles and attention that I couldn't give. I thought to myself, someone would probably love to adopt this cat, he's friendly and needs attention. I brought him in, and he was a little upset about the car ride. Understandable. The woman at the front tells me that because he's crying, they'll most likely put him back outside around where I found him. An area notorious for coyotes. I thought I was doing a good thing, now I'm depressed that I brought this little guy in to eventually become coyote food. He's too little and needy to be outside imo. Think twice before bringing a kitten here. He would've been better off if I rehomed him through Facebook or something.

Historical plaque inscription: “Pasadena Humane Society, City of Pasadena Cultural Heritage Landmark, architect Robert H. Ainsworth, 1932.” The building which houses the adoptions office was completed in 1932. The oldest building dates back to 1929 and is located behind the modern-day dog kennels. It is now the Wildlife Center. Founded in 1903, they purchased this property in 1914.

I’m so happy my husband and I chose to adopt from the Pasadena Humane Society. The staff is extremely knowledgable about the dogs there, and gave extremely helpful insight when picking the right addition to our family. They were so patient and spent a lot of time with us, put no pressure on us at all, answered all our questions, and the information packet they gave us was beyond helpful in getting our new dog quickly acquainted into our family. Ash has been doing wonderfully in the 2 weeks that we’ve had him, and he’s made our lives whole! :)

If I could give zero stars I would. I’m appalled by the service I received at the Pasadena Humane Society today. This morning, my spouse and I found a litter of abandoned puppies in a park — starving, filthy, and clearly in need of urgent care. We called and made an appointment to drop them off, as we already have three dogs of our own and couldn’t keep them. From the moment we arrived, we were met with hostility and condescension. Staff were not only dismissive but went so far as to accuse me of owning the puppies and mistreating them. Instead of focusing on the welfare of the animals, they chose to insult and humiliate the people who were trying to help. I showed up in my sweats, having rushed over after wrangling these puppies best we could — and I regret that now, because it was clear I was being profiled based on my appearance and, frankly, my race. It’s unacceptable and unprofessional for an organization that claims to care about animals to treat good Samaritans this way. If you actually care about helping animals without being demeaned or profiled, I recommend going to the San Gabriel Humane Society instead. Pasadena Humane Society should be ashamed. (Primary worked with a supervisor that had a British accent she didn’t give me her name)

Rosie is the person I spoke with when reporting animal abuse. She has a lack of compassion. She was smiling while I told her about this abusive situation and when I thanked her for her help she just hung up. I did call back to address my concerns about her lack of compassion and zero phone etiquette. She is really either over worked, stressed, or just not a compassionate human being. I feel like they don’t take things seriously in dire situations, have no recourse or sense of action and this whole situation is heartbreaking. I’ve been dealing with an animal left alone barking all day and night and now left out in the rain. Idk if they will ever dispatch an officer to help this animal. I’m sick to my stomach over this and I don’t understand the lack of compassion Rosie had and to just hang up on me after I said thank you for helping me. No you’re welcome, no response, just hang up. Rude heartless cold is not the approach when working with humans or animals.

Google
Extremely rude staff in the cat area. We’ve adopted here in the past and came back to add another kitten to our family. Unfortunately, a single employee ruined our experience here today. After waiting patiently outside of one of the rooms for the kittens (they told us one party at a time per room) the employee then said we could enter and held the door open for us. Moments later a different employee came in with a family, ignoring us. An older woman scolded my fiancé and I, leaning over us aggressively saying “don’t put your fingers in the cages”. This reaction would MAYBE make sense if that’s even remotely what we were doing, except our fingers were nowhere near the cage. We were literally just using our index fingers to wave to the cat because we thought it was cute. Then when I asked her about the one party per room policy, she rudely responded “well I can kick you out if I want.” I have no idea what her problem was. We have 2 cats and 3 dogs at home and are very aware of the rules at Pasadena Humane Society, let alone the germs that can spread to and from kittens. I am type 1 diabetic and cat scratches are dangerous to me. If there are cameras they can see we never even got close to a single cat. She simply saw our finger and assumed we were going to break the rules and immediately became extremely rude and aggressive. Every other employee we spoke to was so kind both today and in the past which made her treatment of us particularly shocking. You do want the cats and dogs to be adopted, right? If she really felt we were breaking a rule or about to break one, she could have dealt with it in a professional manner. Her attitude was completely inappropriate. You’d think if they cared so much about germs, they wouldn’t be letting all the dogs sit in their own poop all day long. At least clean it up. But there was poop in every single cage and it’s clearly they only clean it up once a day at most. Just visit and you will see. Again, this was an employee, not a volunteer. It was an older woman with short brown hair. And if she treats actual pet owners this way, I’d hate to see how she treats the animals when no one’s looking.

Sam from Humane Pest Control and Eduardo from Pasadena Humane Society gave a great presentation about Humane Wildlife Exclusion. Which is information regarding humane ways to protect your home from wildlife surrounding your neighborhood.

Pasadena Humane is by far the most patient, caring, and genuinely compassionate animal society we’ve come across in the Los Angeles/Glendale/Pasadena areas. Most private shelters made the process so complicated and make you feel very bad - asking for unnecessary very personal details like income, where you work, references from work, friends, crazy fees, weeks of reviewing your application etc. Pasadena Humane, on the other hand, had a simple and reasonable application, and their team was kind and helpful from the start. They explained the dog’s background in detail, shared notes from his foster, and answered every question we had without ever making us feel rushed. After the adoption, we came back for a recheck post-neuter, and the vet was great. They also gave us a free exam at VCA Care, which was really helpful to make sure our dog was healthy, even though they had already provided a full and detailed medical record. The adoption fee was very low, and after dealing with some really frustrating experiences at private shelters, I can honestly say this was a breath of fresh air. These are people who truly care about the animals and want to see them go to good homes. Highly recommend adopting from here. Thank you, Pasadena Humane, for everything you do.

Yelp
My daughter participated in the JR Vets program for four weeks, and she absolutely loved it! Meeting new friends, learning about different animals, and helping in the community made this an unforgettable experience. It was the perfect mix of education and fun--thank you to everyone who made the program possible!

Yelp
We adopted our sweet two year old Maltipoo 09/15/2025 a few weeks after he was neutered by this group 05/25/25 and were told that his stitches would dissolve on their own. Weeks later I noticed a strip of what looked like string all along his little penis because he kept licking it. So I took him to our veternarian in Huntington Beach who tried to see scrape it out without having surgery but decided it was just too deep so needed surgery to remove. I asked that she save the material for me. Here's what it looked like. I wrote a letter to the Dr. Pyrdek, the surgeon at Pasadena Humane Society, saying, "Although I admire you for donating your time and energy helping animals I caution you to be sure you're careful in giving each and every patient the very best of your abilities. It shouldn't be about the amount of animals you sterilize, but the quality of your work, as well. Please be careful to watch for signs that your animal might've been sewn up with non-dissolvable sutures and have to undergo a second surgery to have them removed.

Yelp
A few days ago, my partner and I came across a post from Vanessa Ortiz about a beautiful dog named Lucky, and we instantly fell in love. Today, Lucky is part of our family, and we are beyond grateful for Vanessa's compassion and the adoptions team for making this possible. As an executive myself, I understand what true dedication looks like, and with Vanessa, it's clear her work isn't about a paycheck, it's about her genuine care and love for these animals. Thank you, Vanessa, and the adoptions team, for everything you do and for giving us the opportunity to welcome Lucky into our lives.

Yelp
I am so grateful this place exists. I have volunteered here and I can see firsthand how well they care for the animals.

Janett S.

Yelp
This place doesn't care about animals... I did my best to save a kitten and they had me back and fourth I don't live around here but found it in Pasadena they told em to arrive before 5:30 and I made it 5:20 and they said I was late. So I waited for the animal control people and they made me wait from 5:30-7 pm I felt so bad for the kitty so I waited and waited.... But horrible place they truly don't care and the service lady kept ignoring my calls and ignoring my questions and she had me back and fourth annoyed. Imagine how I felt I wasted my whole evening trying to save a kitten..

Yelp
Great experience fostering here. Everything was well-organized, and the staff were awesome. Perfect place if you're thinking of fostering! ::Experience:: I fostered this year at the Pasadena Humane Society. They give you all the information and supplies you need. You also get training and track your hours. ::Customer Service:: I had the pleasure of interacting with both Enessa and Taylor during my time fostering, and they truly made the experience even better. They were always warm, welcoming, and made me feel comfortable reaching out with any concerns or questions I had. Whether it was something small or more detailed, they took the time to explain things clearly and never made me feel rushed. Both of them are incredibly knowledgeable about fostering and made sure I had everything I needed to care for my foster. Their enthusiasm and dedication really show, and it was clear they care deeply about the well-being of both the animals and the volunteers. ::M's Notes:: -Parking: Lot

Yelp
We had our daughter's 7th birthday party here. The staff were knowledgeable, patient, accommodating, and fun! We brought the cake and pizza, and they took care of the rest! The girls had a great time with the animals and the party went off without a hitch. The Pasadena Humane Society was also very flexible with a last minute date change (my daughter woke up on the original party date with the flu). I highly recommend this venue for your child's next party!

Yelp
My only experience is from visiting and donating during the wildfires, and I give Pasadena Humane Society ALL the stars and thanks possible. They are doing extremely important work with medical care for injured animals, caring for boarded animals of evacuees, along with reunifications at the shelter and in the field. When disasters happen, it's always the animals that my heart pulls for the strongest. And here, they seem to be absolute angels to the animals caught in the chaos. Thank you Pasadena Humane!

Yelp
We adopted a cat from here, and they gave us insurance for a 14 days and some food to start with. We've loved our Kotya for 1.5 years now, and we might adopt someone else from here later!

Yelp
Xochitl was amazing!!! We met several dogs, & she knew all details of each of the dogs we were interested in and guided us to the dog of our dreams.

Yelp
The Pasadena Humane Society contributes significantly to the community; however, it is important to exercise caution. Some of their animals may be quite ill, necessitating numerous tests, and there is a possibility that they may need to be returned or, in some unfortunate cases, may not survive. Regrettably, many of their staff members may not exhibit common courtesy, show a lack of empathy, and can sometimes come across as quite rude.

Yelp
Made an appointment to have my 1 year old female cat spayed. (She's a little bit Spicy) Appointment was confirmed and received emails with all information on how to proceed and do's and don'ts on recovery. Staff was kind, attentive and informative. Treated with respect and care of our furry little ones. Check in was a breeze both checking in and picking up. During check in staff went through the check list procedure with care as well as pick up calling your name and pet name with all information again and what to expect during recovery. Then asking if you have any questions before you go home I have the up most respect for the staff at Pasadena Humane Society. Hard work and much love for each furry loved one

Yelp
Very kind staff trying to adopt out a high volume of animals. Adopted a cat here to avoid the homestudy requirement of Kitten Rescue. Each adoptive family receives a packet including food coupons and a free VCA vet visit within 14 days. If you live in Pasadena you are eligible for reduced price vaccinations. However, I had assumed beyond spaying/neutering the animals were given a vet check prior to adoption. The medical costs (apart from vaccinations) were $375. I would recommend adopting from Kitten Rescue if you are looking for a cat- their cats and kittens are checked by a vet prior to taking them home. They are either in good health when released to the adoptive home or have medical notes explaining what care is needed. I assumed all adoptive organizations did the same but no. The home study can be a video walk through, and you will be asked for a care plan if you are elderly so that the cat will have a home should you not be able to care for the cat. We appreciate all Pasadena Humane does for the cats, dogs, rabbits and other animals it cares for.

Pui C.

Yelp
This animal shelter is the most caring, patient, and humane one I've ever seen. When I called, an employee named Mike answered the phone. He was very attentive and asked me in detail where I had found the cat, then took down the information and immediately arranged for me to bring the cat over right away. I was truly touched, because too many shelters treat stray cats and dogs with coldness and indifference. But I could tell right away that they were not like that. When I arrived at the door, a lady helped me register and fill out a form. She was extremely kind and explained to me that this newborn stray kitten would be placed with foster parents, and even if they couldn't find one, their staff would take care of the kitten and would not put it down. She reassured me. I really want to thank all of you, because your kindness and warm words made me feel that staying up all night to care for this newborn stray kitten was absolutely worth it. It reminded me that there are still people in this world who truly care for them. Thank you!

Yelp
The staff was incredible and patient with the stray dog we rescued and brought to them. From the initial phone call, appointment and intake. They were accommodating and transparent on the procedure for turning in this abandoned animal we found. I am very grateful for their service to the community!

Yelp
We adopted a dog two weeks ago as of today and our experience has been horrible. A few days after we brought him home he was showing signs of being sick. His poop was runny, he had a cough, and at times he seemed lethargic.. We took him to the VCA first thing Monday morning on May 12th and the vet said the puppers had parvo, along with a lung infection. What the heck??!!! So on top of adopting a dog who was sick, they lied about his age. They told us he was 3-4 years old but while my sister-in-law was filling out the paperwork, his birthdate indicated he was actually 11 months old! The incubation period indicates that he got parvo from the shelter or maybe from his previous owners who surrendered him. I would like to know what the intake process is because I've had two puppers so far and I've never had this problem. I've used two different NONPROFIT rescue groups and never had this problem. I say nonprofit in this manner because Pasadena Humane has various grants and a large, profitable contract with the City of Pasadena. For those reasons, I don't consider them a true nonprofit organization. I approached them and requested compensation because we spent $1,200 on vet care. They said we can't make any guarantees but we'll take it up with the higher-ups. I asked for the number of the chief vet on site and an administrator, someone in authority, but I was denied that information. I don't think it's fair that this organization didn't do proper intake and now we're stuck with a sick puppers. We're trying to do a good deed and give an abandoned puppers a loving home. I, myself, have my own doggo who must now remain at my mom's until the new puppers sheds the parvo virus. So now two dogs are suffering because of misconduct. I think we're owed some kind of reimbursement. This is ridiculous. Do better!

Andrew

Yelp
Our adoption process was incredibly simple after walking through the adoptable dog section. Before adoption, our dog was spayed and microchipped without additional costs aside from the adoption fee. Afterward, we were provided all necessary documentation to be new pet parents. I am forever grateful for finding my soulmate here.

Yelp
Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Super professional. Best animal shelter I've been to...highly recommended for your next adoption. A+++

Andy S.

Yelp
I was very surprised how nice the workers and volunteers at this shelter were, only because I've been to other shelters in LA and none have compared to this facility. One worker/volunteer in specific really embodied the definition of empathy, care, and kindness when I spoke with him outside. His name is Mike and would personally like to thank him for his sweet demeanor. Although I couldn't bring my dog in here to surrender, he was very empathetic to my situation, heard my story and went as far as giving me resources and a list of rescues for me to call. Thank you for not letting me feel hopeless, Mike. I'm happy to say my Carl has been rehomed and it couldn't have been without your help!! :)

Yelp
Enjoyed a native plant walk and talk today sponsored by the Pasadena Humane Society. Learned a lot about native plants in the San Gabriel mountains above Altadena. The guides did an excellent job providing us with information and it was a very enjoyable time!

Yelp
My review of the "new" Pasadena Humane will echo that of Yelper Sweetie P, who, like me, was a fan of the old, pre-makeover and pre-woke facility. It is now so offensive and off-putting that after two visits I will never return. The old un-escorted "walk through" system was fine for seeing cats and allowing spontaneous interaction & bonding which encouraged adoptions. Now you need to provide personal info and be assigned an escort to see cats that are not even viewable because they are hidden behind "privacy" curtains placed in their cage to "de-stress" them. W T F ????? These protocols DISCOURAGE adoptions! If you want the oldschool warm & fuzzy experience of looking for a special cat to adopt, go to the Baldwin Park animal shelter. Whoever is mismanaging Pasadena Humane should be fired and the old protocols should be brought back.

Yelp
Amazing, grateful, compassionate, ahhhhh thank you so much. I did not intend to meet my best friend but I came out with the kind of dog you read about in books. SUMMARY: - Make appointments online, appt times are released 2 times per week - A 10-day adoption trial is a genius idea to test compatibility but also not push a commitment without testing the waters (you're supplied food, toys, a harness, a Pasadena Humane Society collar, emergency support should something happen, a 24-hr hotline) - You can meet and greet the dog in a playpen during your appt - The staff returns calls within a day & is always informative Appts can be made online & are 45-min visits with an animal (you can choose more than one) that you see online. I have been interested in fostering a large dog to get them out of the shelter. I saw online that 'Morticia' was a border collie mix & I was just curious if I could handle a border collie mix. I also made an appt to meet Raymundo, a large Labrador retriever. I met Raymundo and he was HUGE, like MASSIVE. My only critique for this place is to list weights instead of small, medium, large because the dog I thought was smaller (Raymundo) turned out to be a fricking dinosaur, and the dog I thought was bigger (now named 'Gemma') was waaaaaay smaller than she appeared in the photograph. Then... I saw Gemma. Oh my. My mother said "she's absolutely breathtaking." She would tune in to dogs barking in their kennels but come back to me repeatedly. We were in awe of her elegance & beauty. Another critique which I don't think can be solved bc it's part of the nature of animal shelters is contradicting stories on why she was in the shelter. The handler said she was surrendered pregnant & her puppies were adopted out immediately (obv, puppy privilege) & the owner had given her the dark name - but the woman in the office said Gemma was found with her "boyfriend" as strays and they named her for the Halloween vibes since this was in October. It doesn't specify in my paperwork, so I'm still confused. However, there are a lot of dogs that come in and out of here, & you can't expect every employee to know the details of every single dog. STORY TIME: I met Gem before leaving for a 10-day trip to Chicago & would have adopted her on the spot but a trip would be so stressful for her. My mother said, "leave it to fate" & I held onto that. While in Chicago, I checked her profile almost daily. I had to stop myself from looking some days in case she was adopted. Half of me wanted her to find a home, but the other half felt this intrinsic bond to her. One day I noticed she was listed as "foster" and they called me back & said it's just a fostering situation. I was relieved that Gemma (I named her before I even got her) was in a real home for the holidays. I then called and said hey, I want to make an adoption appointment for when I return. They cannot hold any dog (which is good for the dogs; you want to give them the opportunity to be adopted). We made the appointment, and they said if anything changes we will call. I confirmed the appt the day before & the same thing was said to me. Then!!!! Came the day!!! I came to pick up Gemma & it's amazing how many resources they give you: 1. Free VCA vet visit 2. Free 30-days pet insurance that we activated 3. All paperwork including rabies vaccine and spay/neuter proof 4. Information on crate-training, introducing a dog to a cat, the 3 day (nervous wreck) - 3 weeks (assimilating) - 3 months (real personality emerges) info sheet 5. A discount for training classes offered at Pasadena Humane (I live in Long Beach but otherwise I would go) 6. A free bag of Hill's pet food they feed them at the shelter (good for weaning off the food to another brand since you have to do it gradually) 7. Get to keep the easy walk harness 8. Get to keep the shelter number tag attached to her neck (I put it in my memory box) 9. Get an adoption certificate with your name & the new name of the pet I am so, so, so, so, so happy with Gemma. She is the most intelligent, most playful, most inquisitive creature I've ever come across. I didn't think I could get a dog after my late senior terrier passed away 8 months ago, but when I met Gemma, I had that same feeling I had when I met my Belle. This wonder & thought of "why do I just want to know everything about you." I cannot for the life of me believe she was at the shelter October - January. Everyone tells me, "it's so clear that she genuinely loves and adores you," and that is all I could have asked for in a companion. Thank u so much Pasadena Humane Society for caring for Gemma & for tolerating my phone calls wondering if she was still available. I'm so lucky Elle & Gemma

Yelp
What a weird shelter this place has become, there are unnecessary procedures to interact with the animals you're interested in, volunteers that feel like security guards surveillance, in addition to wearing gloves, no touch, filling out a form and waiting in line to see an interaction counselor, do they really want people to adopt? I have adopted twice before from PHS, once in 2003, in 2015, and now looking to adopt again...but the experience this time really weirded me out, it felt so cold. Maybe I reminisce about the past in many respects, it was so simple, it gave interested families a chance to connect to the pets. There's no doubt that they are well funded, and the facility is grand, I'm not sure if it's serving the purposes as a shelter anymore.

Yelp
While I got my babies here and will always be thankful for them, I will never forget how the employees here were very ugly and unhelpful.

Yelp
They are a good place and care about their animals. They welcomed back Lomi a little black kitten after my resident cat just wasn't adjusting and was attacking the poor kitten. It broke my heart and i unexpectedly cried when I brought him back. Good luck Lomi, I hope you find your forever home sweetheart. You're such a good kitty.

Yelp
@NIKKI B is a Fairy God Mother! She is the Godmother of Saffy & Angelina; a crucial part of the adoption of my babies thanks to her diligent connection with Pasadena Humane Team/ Site and updates. I would not have these babies in my life if not for her! LOVE LOVE her forever Pasadena Humane has always been such a fantastic shelter that maintains its integrity as an adoption source~ the entire staff is ALWAYS so kind and compassione during my adoption process. I have adopted three (3) Kittens from them; Chauncey is 19 now (yes, 19 years old!!), Angelina is almost 1 year and Saffy is 6 months. I am beyond grateful for ALL the ladies that make my life so enchanting and filled with unconditional love with my furbabies.

Yelp
The Pasadena Humane society has low cosy spay and neuter procedures so I took my 8mth old Jack Russell girl to be spayed for $300. They did a good enough job, a bit raggedy of a scar on her tummy but worst of all...they tattoo a bright green line on the stomach after to show that she has been spayed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now my beautiful perfect puppy has a kelly green line down her tummy. I'm so upset I have no words. The stomach scar would have been more than enough proof she had been spayed. Anyhow, I'm her owner and I know and I dont need a green tattoo to remind me! She has about a bright green about 1 1/2 inch bright green line on her tummy. She is white and brown and it is horrible and her hair will not grow on her tummy to cover it. I'm so upset, everyday when I see her I see this big bright green line down her middle, I mean just awful. Come up with a better solution guys, I wish I had gone to the Vet and even paid 3x as much, my PUPPY wouldn't have a bright green tattoo!!!! I want to cry.

Yelp
My daughter took the Kids for Animals "Jr. Volunteers" course and I highly recommend this place. Everyone was very kind and helpful. My daughter really enjoyed working with animals. This is a truly valuable experience that gives a lot of positive emotions.

Yelp
I wish I could give them zero stars. I was helping someone who found a dog chained, yet claimed they had an emergency. The female at the door was extremely rude. I was honest with her about the nearest shelter being closed and this one being the closet shelter that was open. She wanted to refuse to accept the animal and attempted to accuse me of abandoning the animal when we were at an animal shelter! I would not recommend this location. They are not there for the animals at all!

Yelp
IF YOU HAVE LOST A PET GOOD LUCK GETTING IT BACK! They'll give it to any first person who claims it's theirs without any proof of ownership. Their SOP states that they are supposed to have a holding period of 120 hours but NOPE, they gave up what's potentially my parrot to the first person that walked in wanting it the next day after being turned in. They have failed to give myself and this other woman a chance to prove we could be the owners. So if you've lost a pet, you probably won't get it back if it's been turned in to Pasadena Humane Society! This is my parrot, Pistachio, below

Yelp
Their policies are absolutely flawed. You can not walk through the kennel and meet the dogs for adoptions you have to fill out a form and make an appointment. The is completely dumb and people like my wife and I have adopted stray dogs for 20 years and never have we not walked through a kennel to meet the dogs interact and socialize with them. I under stand the amount of dogs in the kennel because of the fire but this is another reason to interact. This place was a nightmare to deal with before and is worse not

Yelp
The day the fires started this was the first location that came to mind. When I showed up I knew they had everything they could under control. I am so proud of our local Humane Society for jumping to action and compassionately serving our community! Thank you to everyone who works and volunteers there! You are angels in disguise!!!!!

Yelp
I was able to adopt a beautiful little kitten from them about a year and a half ago, been absolutely joy for all those who have been fortunate to interact with him

Yelp
Visited this place before the remodel when I adopted Sparky many years ago. I definitely intend to adopt from this place again. I'm hoping my mom will as well. They have a program here where you can adopt a senior dog for free if you are 60 and over!! How great is that?!?! Since my last visit many years ago, this place has definitely gotten bigger. They have more parking spaces now that can be found underground since the remodel. There's still the few parking spots near the entrance, but there's also street parking. The containment area outside for the dogs are a good size and they all looked clean. I saw a few volunteers reading to a few dogs which I thought was interesting. There's also an outside play area where I saw a dog with one of the employees playing. The indoor containment area for the cats is also a good size and clean looking. Saw this really neat play area where a cat or two can play around in. Saw a few cute bunnies. They had room to hop in and their areas were also clean. If you want to donate some stuff like unopened regular dog food or dog toys, you can place them in a container located in the underground parking or in a container near the store. If you want a donation receipt, go into the Shelter Shop and they will write one out for you. They don't dispose of unused pet medicine. Those need to go to those medicine containers that you can find at CVS or Albertsons.

Yelp
They have been amazing. My son takes afterschool classes and summer camp. He loves Miss Kay and Miss Tiffany. I wish I could give them more stars. It has given him a real sense of compassion for animals.

Yelp
Pasadena Humane's Foster Team is excellent! Besides aiding neonate kittens and large dogs, they're also are compassionate, caring, and giving individuals. The Pasadena Humane Society's Foster Program gives fosters an ability to take the animals time away from the shelter. The Shelter Team takes care to make sure there is a positive match between foster parent and foster pet. The dog I had taken out as a Foster to Adopt (FTA)was in a unfortunate accident less than a week after we had brought her home. The Foster Office moved quickly to have us bring the dog to the shelter where she would receive medical treatment. The Foster Team triaged her while they were waiting for the medical team. Free medical treatment is part of the fostering process. Thanks to their quick actions and care, my "foster princess" is on the mend. The Foster Team of Nadia, Paola, Inessa, Taylor, and Ruby deserve a big shout out!

Yelp
This facility is amazing! Clean and inviting for visitors. You can tell there is great care for the animals and facilities compared to other's facilities. The staff is friendly, whether they are staff or volunteers. They have retail shop which is great. A few things to remember- You need to go on line and make an appointment to visit the animals for adoption, Monday thru Friday. The facilities are large so make sure you look at the map on the website.

Yelp
Rude and dismissive. They ignore calls about animals in need. Don't bother calling them for concerns about mistreated local animals, they do nothing and just do anything to get you off the phone.

Yelp
This is our second time rescuing some kitties here in the past 4 years and both times we had a great experience!! The staff are so eager to help and very knowledgeable. And the process is fast and easy - and they really go out of their way to help you adopt - they even give you vouchers for free first health exams with VCA and free pet food and litter (if they haven't run out). And they give you a discount if you adopt two pets at once - basically you only pay for one adoption which is awesome!! The first time we came, we rescued a sweet 2 year old cat and an elderly senior kitty with some health issues. They were in cages next to each other and were just too sweet - we had to have them both! Recently, we lost the elderly kitty and our younger one has been so down and lonely! Which made the heartbreak even harder to bear - so we've been keeping our eye on their website here for available male cats. Their website has a great search function that lets you filter out pets available for adoption - we decided to try and get 2 male kittens, preferably from the same litter - that way none of our fur babies will ever be lonely again! It was quite a challenge bc kittens get scooped up fast lol - but last week we got so lucky!! Adoptions are by appointment only - so when we saw an influx of kittens, we made an appointment for the next day and were able to adopt two 6-week old brother kittens yay!! I think we got lucky bc all the other kittens were already adopted - but the two we got were "unsocialized" (aka feral) and were very scared - we couldn't even pet them. The staff said it's harder to get them adopted bc it takes a lot of work - but I am totally up to the challenge! They're absolutely precious little things! We had to wait to take them home bc they were scheduled to be neutered the next day which gave me time to get their training room and playpen all set up. We picked them up the day after their surgery and they were absolutely terrified - poor babies! The shelter gave me TONS of info on how to work with them to get them from being super scared and spicy to cuddly and mild - their instructions, along with videos from The Kitten Lady, have been fantastic to go by - it's totally working!! We've had them almost a week now and I'm already able to pet them a little and they'll eat out of my hands yay!! I bet they'll be cuddling in my lap by the end of this week! Parking is mostly street parking but there are some spaces in a private lot too. When you arrive for your appointment, call the number on the sign at the locked gate and they let you in. I highly recommend rescuing if you can - these poor abandoned babies need so much love! Ty Pasadena Humane Society!

Yelp
They're wonderful caregivers to lost and abandoned animals. They offer affordable vaccines as well.

Yelp
Tried taking abandoned cats to the Pasadena humane society and they would not take them. Why do we donate to humane societies when they don't want to accept abandoned animals. Abandoned animals need to be adopted too! I won't ever contribute to them ever again!

Yelp
Enjoyed an early morning walk with the PH Wildlife coordinator this morning at Mountain View Cemetery. It was a leisurely pace, we saw some birds and coyotes, some interesting local famous people who are buried there, and as we were about to finish up, we were thrilled to see a Great Horned Owl getting ready for bed up in a tree. The ticket cost was more than reasonable and this was a unique outing. In general I appreciate the hard work PH does, and in general I think a good job is done with the resources at hand. Please continue to educate the public on what PH does and does not do, what PH can and can not do. PH has some helpful community services that many don't know about. I think some progress could be made in developing more partnerships with people outside of PH who can help in other ways (example: there are many of us who do TNR work locally, so when someone might call in to PH to request help with feral/community cats, it might be helpful to pair them up with us who do TNR work - but I also recognize there are logistical issues with anything like this).

Yelp
Great facility, I've always taken my fur baby's for vaccines their chip and spay and neuters. They are very great and communicative. Very much recommended.
