OKC's newest Farmers Market is like a little plant: small but promising. There were several vendors selling summer veggies, plus some folks selling herbs, flora arrangements and more. 612 is such a beautiful place and the ideal setting for a farmers market. We were here fairly early and they were already pretty busy.
I imagine it will keep growing over the next couple of years, and that just means it will continue to improve.
The hard thing about farmers markets is they have lots of good things they could sell in Oklahoma in the summer, but it's so hot you really feel for everyone working, and it's hard on some of the produce to be out in the heat. I wonder if there's any plan to move it inside when it gets much hotter, because it will certainly be hotter sometimes and everyone working seemed pretty uncomfortable.
We need more things like this, so kudos to all involved. Major bonus points for accepting SNAP benefits - that's proof that they're thinking about the needs of their community!
