The Biggest D.C.-Area Restaurant Openings in June 2025 | Eater DC

"A Mediterranean sweets shop serving traditional confections such as baklava, pistachio-crusted rolls and cookies, stretchy Lebanese booza ice cream, Turkish delights, and crispy knefe alongside a variety of teas and coffee drinks; the new location keeps extended hours on weekends and evenings for grab-and-go desserts and beverages." - Emily Venezky

A quiet and clean shop with friendly staff. There are many ice cream flavors to choose from — I really liked the pistachio! 💚 A small cup costs $7 and comes with three scoops (you can pick three flavors). I also bought some Middle Eastern sweets to take home — six pieces for $20. The price is quite reasonable since these desserts usually cost more due to the ingredients and the complexity of making them. The selection isn’t huge, but everything I tried was delicious. ✨

Pasha Castle serves 16 kinds of tasty ice cream — $7-something gets your choice of three scoops. Pop in to sample the delicious kake, iced cream, and maybe even the wide range of Turkish delights, baklava and more. They offer sweet and savory crepes too. Hours are around 10am to midnight. Friendly service and nice interior with lovely music. #illbeback

We got a box of their sweets and they were so good! The worker was extremely nice and helpful, we had no idea what to get, but our box of goodies has made us happy all day. Would definitely recommend!

Perfect place to stop in for a sweet treat in the Eastern Market / Capitol Hill area! It’s less than two blocks from the Eastern Market metro stop, and definitely worth a visit. Ice cream was amazing, especially the ashta, which had a nice rosewater flavor. I also tried three different varieties of Turkish delight, and they were all delicious too. Prices were good - only $7-something for a cup with three different flavors of ice cream, and $7-something for a small box containing 8-9 pieces of 3 different varieties of Turkish delight. Inside, the seating area is larger than it looks in pictures - there is a lot more seating than I expected. It’s also super cute, and the music is good, so it’s a nice place to sit and enjoy your dessert. Overall, this has easily become one of my favorite dessert places in the area and I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

The knafeh was warm and perfectly balanced in sweetness, and the maamoul cookies were tender with just the right amount of sweetness. The staff welcomed me with warm smiles and were eager to share the stories behind each dessert. If you’re in the dc area and have a penchant for Middle Eastern sweets, this gem is a must-visit.

Yelp
I had stopped here on a whim to see what they had and was not disappointed! They had a lot of different drink choices (coffee and teas), little sweet dessert pastries, and a decent selection of ice cream flavors. I was most excited about the ice cream since you can't see the ice cream by walking by. I got mango, Ashta, and lemon Ice cream and belly bliss elixir tea. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I was surprised there weren't more people, it's a very cute place. I'll probably come back for a morning coffee and pastry.

Yelp
Over priced Baklava and not worth it! I spent almost $50 for 18 pieces (Tiny) and it wasn't good at all ! The man didn't even listen to what I asked for. And when I came back the next day to complain about the order he gave he told me I had to pay for the rest of the order even though it was their mistake on their behalf?! They barely have any customers...gee wonder why?! Horrible customer service! I saw a cockroach in there the second time I went back to complain..gross! They lie as well...said they was giving me "extra sweets" when really they didn't fulfill the whole order I asked for and told me they gave me a smaller order and charged me less for it ?! They are scammers and the baklava they claim is originally from Turkey, isn't made daily "fresh" I seen it in the glass case sitting there for 3 days and I've tasted better from Greece ! Never would go back or recommend!!!! Like Never !!!!! It's way too expensive and no way worth it !!!! GROSSS, YUCK !!!
