Passyunk Avenue Kensington - Review - Kensington - London - The Infatuation

"This Kensington spot is the fifth Passyunk Avenue to open in the city. We’re fans of the Fitzrovia and Stratford locations of this Philadelphia-inspired dive bar, and their life-size cutouts of Danny DeVito, classic Philly cheesesteaks, and buffalo wings. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Sinéad Cranna

What an amazing vibe! The food is a solid 10/10, and the staff’s energy and friendliness are just as perfect. Honestly, what’s not to love? We enjoyed it so much that we went back, and we’ll definitely be back again! The cheesesteak sandwich is an absolute must-try, and the buffalo wings were the best we’ve ever had. The only dish that didn’t quite hit the mark for us was the aubergine, but everything else more than made up for it.

Passyunk nails that old-school American feel spotless setup and chill staff. Went for the classic Philly, French Fries, mozz sticks, and root beer. Philly was ((fine)) but weak on flavor Really needed more peppers and way more cheese (where it at?). Mozzarella sticks? Perfect. Crispy, melty, no complaints. French Fries were skinny, crunchy, exactly how they should be. Solid meal overall but that chewy fat in the sandwich? Nah. Price felt high for what landed on my tray. I’d go back but definitely customize next time.

I visited for lunch on a Friday. The decor was very much American sports bar, with memorabilia (and $1 bills) plastered all over the wall and a baseball game playing on multiple TV screens. Between me and my wife we ordered the buffalo wings and a classic cheesesteak with some tater tots. The cheesesteak is massive and definitely better suited for sharing unless you’re particularly famished. It was quite nice though, with tender and well seasoned beef pairing well with the onions and cheese (“Wiz”) sauce. The other items were similarly enjoyable. Our very friendly server was American and the food was delivered quickly. It should be noted that we were the only people in there at the time. The bill for our lunch came to £59 of which £15 was spent on drinks. Overall a very enjoyable and filling lunch for a reasonable price. I liked the vibe of the place, it felt like we had stepped back into the US for an hour or so. The lack of other customers was a bit odd but I was told they are busier on evenings and weekends. I live locally and will definitely return. 4.5 stars.

Went in at happy hour, good atmosphere especially for a Cubs fan (even though I wore a dodgers cap that day, what can I say it was raining 🤪) really good Old Fashioned cocktails (Eagle Rare) and it was wing Wednesday! So how could we not try them, a little overcooked but the seasoning more than made up for it (Buffalo/Dry Rub). Barman was really nice and helpful too, will definitely go back

Fantastic food, like being in Philly, great portions, well prepared. Great staff, really friendly , knowledgeable and accomodating. Couldn't have had a better time plus my wife loved the pickles and they brought over plenty extra and taught her about picklebacks . We left something behind and the staff ran round the corner after to hand it to us. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun night out in west London!

Took my 10 year old and some adult friends to watch the Eagles Game this past Sunday and we all had a great time. The food was great (it’s consistently solid) and the service again, was wonderful. It’s a friendly American sports bar vibe. Our server was from Rhode Island and was always nearby if the kids needed extra napkins or the adults needed another libation. In a city full of chain restaurants always trying to “sell a brand”; Passyunk Ave is a delicious dose of authenticity and a welcome addition to the neighbourhood. Have not yet tried it but word is they do a killer breakfast sandwich.
