The 16 Best Restaurants In Newport, Rhode Island 2024 - Newport - The Infatuation

"When you’re looking for a date-night dinner spot, a break from any super casual beachy dining, or both, come to Pasta Beach. Go for classics like a margherita pizza, a bowl of bolognese, their specialty dishes like orecchiette with sundried tomatoes and olives, and always end with a nutella pizza. Centrally located on Bellevue Ave, you could also use this spot for a nice, no-reservation lunch after an afternoon hitting the museums and shops on Bellevue. " - Danielle Rose

We came here for an early Friday dinner. The carbonara was amazing. The watermelon salad was very good. The vodka pasta was good but didn’t taste like typical vodka sauce that I was expecting. My daughter enjoyed the pepperoni pizza. I was not a fan of the ricotta dip or the meatballs.

Google
Pretty good experience! Some of the food fell a little flat but the sausage and smoked mozzarella pasta was incredible. Service was good and attentive. Atmosphere was a little cluttered feeling, but maybe that's because it was during the day. Would go back again just for that pasta dish.

Google
Pasta Beach in Newport was excellent. I had the gnocchi and the ravioli, both were delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the service was on point. Easily one of the best Italian meals I’ve had in a while. I’ll be coming back. Five stars.

Google
Made reservations and we were running late and the host/manager still held our table! I’m forever grateful for that! I raved about this please since I visited the one in Providence, but wanted my family to enjoy the Newport location. It did not disappoint! It is very cozy and cute inside, and the service top notch. The food of course is the highlight. It was rich in flavor and prepared very fast. We all loved the fresh bread served in the beginning and the pasta selections. Thank you everyone for a great experience and being so accommodating!

Google
Grilled octopus was ok. Margerita pizza was too doughy for me and not enough cheese and sauce. Beware of parking lot next to the restaurant, it cost almost $30

Loved this spot. We were easily seated without reservation. Pizza dough was top notch, ingredients fresh. Friendly staff.

Google
Pasta beach has great pasta! Everyone in my group enjoyed their meals. I got the Carbonara which was insanely good— the pasta was a little too al dente for my preference but everything else about it was so amazing I didn’t mind it being a little chewy. I also tried the Tagliatelle ai Funghi which was super amazing. Both were great dishes I can’t recommend enough. Beyond the pasta portion of Pasta Beach, everything else was great too. Bruschetta appetizer was actually perfect. Drinks were great. Outdoor seating was super pretty. And Our server was funny and super nice, giving us great recommendations for places to go out after dinner. This was definitely my favorite spot to eat out in Newport. Definitely recommend it to everyone!!

Pasta Beach was recommended by a good friend of ours who had heard great things about it but had not yet visited. We decided to check it out one evening, arriving around 8 p.m. with hopes of finding a spot at the bar. The restaurant was bustling. All the tables, both indoor and outdoor, were occupied. However, we were pleased to find plenty of seats available at the two bars. We chose to sit at the back bar, which had chairs with backs—a nice touch for comfort. The two bartenders were fantastic, expertly managing the entire restaurant with impressive efficiency. Their recommendations were spot on. We tried the pasta with clams and the lasagna. The clam dish was exceptionally fresh, with superb flavor. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his lasagna, describing it as "real good." We stayed at the Viking Hotel, making the walk to Pasta Beach a delightful evening stroll. Overall, Pasta Beach is a must-visit if you want great service and delicious food around Bellevue Ave. The lively atmosphere and attentive bartenders made our dining experience memorable.

Yelp
This was our 2nd visit to Pasta Beach, Newport. Our first visit was a few years ago. The server charged my credit card for a Pellegrino she forgot to add to the bill AFTER we paid & left the restaurant. We decided to try again, made reservations and arrived early. The hostess seated us promptly which we much appreciated. Once at our table, we were served 4 small pieces of bread which was odd since other tables received a generous amount. We ordered bruschetta as an appetizer, but our meals arrived first. When the bruschetta finally arrived, it was delivered with no plates. We had to flag down our waiter to ask for them. Our server was nice, but inattentive. He never asked if we wanted an additional beverage, how our meals were, etc. It's customary to offer Parmesan with pasta, but my husband had to request it as well as salt & pepper. Disappointing to say the least. The food was delicious, as it was our first visit but my husband and I are not in any hurry to return to this restaurant, solely based on the service we received.

Yelp
Pasta Beach was an exceptional restaurant. It has a perfect location for exposure to visitors, it has a large indoor seating area, I love the welcoming atmosphere and.... during the warmer months...they have a beautifully aestetic outdoor seating area. Let me start by saying how much we enjoyed our server, Nicole. From start to finish, she was attentive, helpful, resourceful with local attraction recommendations, and always displayed a genuine smile. My drink was the Sugar and Spice (Shipwreck Spiced Rum, Liquor 43, Mint, and Lime). This drink was amazing, deliciously sweet, loved the sugar rim, and highly recommended. The appetizer was Polpette (Beef and pork meatballs, tomato sauce, parmesan cheese). The meatballs were pleasantly tender and the sweet sauce enveloped every bite with deliciousness. Each entree was award winning, presented at the optimal temperature, and perfectly seasoned: Margherita Pizza and the Tagliatelle (substituted with rigatoni) Funghi. This dish included champignon mushrooms, garlic, cream, and parsley. The dessert was mouth watering...Coppa Straciatella (Chocolate chip gelato swirled together with chocolate syrup, topped with cocoa powder and hazelnuts). I enjoyed this dessert and every spoonful was an adventure. Going from the powdery top layer, working to the creamy gelato center, and finishing with the syrupy chocolate bottom, was exquisite and hope that everyone gets to experience this exceptional final course. Once again, I have entered a restroom that deserves kudos. The nautical decor was innovative and the cleanliness speaks volumes for the beauty of the entire restaurant. Thank you, Pasta Beach, for a memorable meal. I look forward to returning during the warmer months and I highly recommend it to every Yelper.

Yelp
Pasta Beach Newport makes Rhode Island pizza that tastes like Manhattan-style pizza. Delicious Margherita pizza with extra sauce and roasted garlic with a golden, crispy thin crust - you can't beat it, hitting all high cues. Pizza sauce is the crown jewel of pizzas, and Pasta Beach Newport could use a richer, more explosively flavorful sauce, recalling celebrated consistency of Rao's Sauces, with straight up saucy flavor.

Yelp
Dropped by for a birthday dinner with some friends, table of 6. Restaurant was pretty packed (Saturday at 6:30 ish) we had a reservation so were promptly seated. Parking is street and nearby lot parking which fills up pretty quickly. Food wise the lasagna was said to be solid so a few ordered that along with a cacio e Pepe and one of the carbonara dishes. We ordered the calamari and the fried provolone with hot honey (we ended up ordering a second round.) Drinks I can only speak to mine I went for the Club Italian which was refreshing, and well balanced. Would recommend! The dishes we tried were all equally flavorful, and ample serving sizes. The pasta was perfectly elegant dente. I would say at first glance the cacio e Pepe seemed like they put store bought shredded cheese but overall taste was great and perfectly cooked. I had a bite of the lasagna which was good and definitely shareable unless you're really hungry :) Staff was nice, space had a nice upscale beach vibe. Pizzas seemed pretty good too large brick oven up front when you enter the restaurant. Would recommend stopping by for a drink, or food. Cute bar area as well.

Yelp
The food was delicious, the espresso martinis were probably the best I've ever had and the service was outstanding. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The Pasta Beach was an excellent choice for our lunch. The interior was beautiful and there was also a very nice secluded courtyard. We chose the courtyard. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I was impressed by this as our order was small. We split a margarita pizza and it was very tasty. My only surprise was a 2% kitchen apprehension fee added to the check. I assume this was a tip shared by kitchen staff. I would enjoy going back and trying a pasta dish.

Yelp
We were seated outdoors in the back, a really nice garden. We ordered the Mezze Maniche Carbonara (with bacon) and Chitarra con l'Aragosta (lobster with linguine). Both dishes were great. The pasta was cooked to perfectly al dente. Very flavorful.

Yelp
From beginning to end it was delicious!!! Our friends said the dishes and especially the tiramisu compared to their trip to Italy. They

Yelp
Pasta Beach was on my list during a weekend trip to Rhode Island. We were seated in a cozy booth by the bar. I loved the low lighting ambiance, it was definitely romantic. We received complementary bread and ordered cacio e Pepe and arrabbiata pasta as our entrees. Both plates were wiped clean! Both were flavorful, hearty, and had a nice spice kick. We ordered tiramisu as dessert which didn't disappoint!

Yelp
Perfect example of when dining in makes all the difference! We took an order to go the last time we were in Newport and didn't have the same experience. We were disappointed. This time around... the food, the wine, the service, and the ambiance were top notch! So happy we gave it another shot. The wine was great! And the chicken Milanese was beyond delicious, as were our pasta dishes. My daughter had penne with red sauce and even that was great! Thank you for a great meal!

Yelp
We went here with some apprehension as their yelp rating is so so. Guys, I do not understand why this place isn't at least in the high 4's?! We were so delighted by the ambiance the second we walked in. Beautiful decor and very inviting bar and dining area. We had a larger group so we made reservations and our table was ready as promised. Our server was fantastic. She was extremely kind and knew the menu like the back of her hand. She readily answered any questions and was more than happy to accommodate any requests. The wine list is excellent and we were very happy with our Orin Swift selection. Those who ordered cocktails really enjoyed what they ordered. The burrata appetizer blew us all away. Everyone LOVED their meals. My husband's lobster dish was phenomenal. We ended our experience with a Nutella pizza. Definitely a must try! Will absolutely be back and we definitely recommend this great find to anyone headed to Newport!

Yelp
My friend and I went to Pasta beach last night and our waitress was Antonija. Best waitress I have ever had! She was so kind, genuine and friendly. We can't stop talking about her!! We love this restaurant, it's beautiful inside and has kind staff, and the food is amazing. I've been coming here for years, and it is great every time. One of my favorite spots in Newport.
google avatar

Regina P.

Yelp
Pasta was delicious! The eggplant bruschetta was kinda weird and cold I didn't love that. Drinks were good but I would have liked more of a variety to choose from. I want to come back and try more items like the pizza!

Sara P.

Yelp
Yelp said it was open. It was not . Im extremely disappointed. Me and my friend walked eleven whole minutes IN THE COLD just to get pasta from this place, but instead of us being able to sit down and enjoy the food from the place which we thought was open, we were let down.
google avatar

Jakob S.

Yelp
The food, server, and service was phenomenal. Loved the pesto gnocchi. We sat on the patio which was very nice. The bread with oil is also amazing. Definitely will be back again soon.

Yelp
Great spot in the neighborhood for italian food. service is fast and kind, their food is hearty and comforting and their portions are on the larger size (but not family size) there is also outdoor seating

Yelp
Great spot for lunch in Newport! Came here for a quick bite after work. Got the quasi mojito and the tagliatelle bolognese. The mojito was excellent; quite delicious and refreshing. My entree was amazing. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the flavors were very good. Overall I had a very good experience.

Marisa A.

Yelp
This is one of the best places I've ever eaten at in Newport. The food was SO fresh. You can tell they make everything in house and right then and there. We had the Bruschetta Pomodoro for an app and omg it was delicious.. it went in 5 minutes. I got the Gnocchi Pesto as my entree, it was incredible. Best I ever had. I was still thinking about this food weeks later. The only con about Pasta Beach is that it gets SUPER busy, and even if you make a reservation, you will still have to wait a little. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
Such a great spot! I've heard about Pasta Beach from so many people and I was so glad to get in for dinner (definitely make a reservation!!) Our waitress (I think her name was Antonia!) was fantastic! She was so sweet and attentive. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious -- absolutely will be back!

Tasha E.

Yelp
5 for Ambiance. 3 for Food. I've only been once! And I'm sure each item on the menu would be reviewed differently. Loved the ambience here. The decor, lighting, vibes. Really chill place you can take friends or a date, dressed up or dressed down. I had the lasagna. It wasn't very tasty. And the pasta was a little mushy. Also came out lukewarm. The sauce didn't have much acidity or flavor to it. The meat was good. I'll definitely visit again to give the pizza or other menu items a go.
google avatar

Ronny T.

Yelp
Pretty good pasta and pizza. I liked the casual vibe. Service was really good too. It's a small chain I think because there's a Pizza Beach in Boston as well. We had different pastas for dinner and shared a pizza for an appetizer. Worked out well for us.
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Great setting for a meal. We sat on the back patio (great weather in July). The food was a little slow but tasted great, the service was excellent and the overall experience was top shelf. What's not to recommend it?
google avatar

Sara B.

Yelp
Two of my favorite words. Pasta Beach, you were wonderful! The menu has alllll of the pasta options you could ever want. Pasta with seafood, meat lasagna, carbonara, ravioli. And on and on. And if you aren't feeling the pasta route they've got pizzas, calzones and some entrees that all sounded really yummy. We started off with a crunchy cesar salad that was topped with a mound of hot and crispy bacon. This was a very unboring cesar and I'm happy we ordered it. The complimentary bread was also hot and fresh. On to the pasta. I went with the octopus bucatini which was topped in a chunky tomato sauce with olives and capers. The pasta was perfectly al dente and there was an impressive showing of octopus. I was wowed. My sister's carbonara was also a showstopper. I've never seen this dish with rigatoni - interesting move and it was a delicious combo. Order up your favorite drink (aperol spritz for me) and you have yourself a five star meal.

Yelp
Cute little restaurant in Newport. We got here around 5pm on a Saturday and had no wait for a table of 2. The place did start to fill up around 6 though. I had the Burrata caprese and tagliatelle asparagus e prosciutto although I wish I would have asked for extra sauce. :) These were delicious!
google avatar

so l.

Yelp
To be completely honest.. it's just pasta. There wasn't anything crazy about their pasta dishes. We ordered their Pork Ribs and Suppli (both came with three of each) as our appetizers. They both were both full of flavor. I feel like our appetizers were the most flavorful dishes we had tonight. For entrees we ordered, Lasagna, Tagliatelle Bolognese, Bucatini Cacio Pepe, Spaghetti Pomodoro, and Tagliatelle Asparagi e Prosciutto. They weren't bland or anything but the Tagliatelle was salty. They were just boring in my opinion. They were just basic pasta dishes that you can make at home. Our waitress was very nonchalant and seemed like she just wanted to get our table out of the way. The place was very nice looking and honestly I'd rather go somewhere else.
google avatar

Patricia B.

Yelp
Finally got to try this place right in Newport. Made a reservation for 2 people but was not crowded at 6pm on Thursday in June. Entrees came out really quick as we skipped drinks and apps- too tired and hungry from walking around all day. Tagliatelle Bolognese dish had plenty of meat and great taste. GF Pasta with Asparagi e Prosciutto used a Rotini shape that worked very well with light cream sauce. Had to request bread for the table but otherwise service was on point. A bit loud with tile walls and open kitchen but could still carry on conversation. Seemed like a few families so kids menu must work. Overall one to return to when in Newport.
google avatar

Jose T.

Yelp
When you open the door and that smell hits you, you know you re in for good experience. The place has great atmosphere with 3 distinct rooms and a beautiful bar. We sat in the first room by the entrance. The wine list is well priced and has some very nice Italian wines. If you have never tried a Sicilian wine the nero d'avila from Sicily is am excellent paring for meats or heavier pastas. We had the bruschetta for a starter. The success of that dish depends in the ingredients. In this case the tomatoes were so fresh and tasty as was the bread but I would wanted the Bread to be crispier. For a main dish we had the tagliatelle with mushroom in a cream sauce. It was very good a solid B and very abundant. we shared it and the half portion was more than enoug. We topped it off with an excellent tiramisu. All in all a great place for dinner in Newport
google avatar

Connie W.

Yelp
This spot really is just okay, especially for the price point and the wait time. The restaurant was quite crowded when we came (Saturday afternoon), so I thought the food would be really good. Almost every single dish was lacking in flavor and tasted bland, except for the carbonara, which was too salty The Bolognese (not pictured) tasted entirely like canned marinara and meat (our server told us there was very little tomato sauce in it!!) The spaghetti alle vongole had the taste of wine, as the menu indicated, but the menu also implied white wine sauce, and there was pretty much no sauce in the pasta :( The tagliatelle ai funghi (mushroom pasta) was actually pretty good! It was creamy and generous with the mushrooms. Overall, this place is a lot more expensive than it is nice - I would definitely give the other menu items a try if I were to come back, but it was a very average meal overall.

Alexa P.

Yelp
Food was good, I had the cacio e pepe. The atmosphere is super cute and modern, they have a really good drink selection. Staff was friendly and nice! Def recommend this place.

Yelp
Super cute restaurant with great pasta and delicious burrata! Definitely recommend for a good, comfortable meal with nice servers.

Yelp
The food was great and the atmosphere was trendy! Very clean with friendly service, I'd highly recommend going to eat here.

Yelp
We used to love going to Pasta Beach when we lived in Newport several years ago - food was good, ambiance was casual, and service was friendly. We were excited to share this restaurant with our kids during our vacation to Newport. However, the front desk staff was arrogant and rude - the hostess couldn't be bothered to help us and acted like she was doing us a favor just by speaking to us. After we were seated outside by ourselves (note that we intentionally went during off-hours and the restaurant was not busy), no one came to greet/serve us. After waiting 15 minutes, we decided to leave. I'm a business professor at a major university. If I presented this as a case study to my students, I would recommend that the hostess be let go and that management take a close look at organizational culture. Very disappointing.

James M.

Yelp
Food was great! Add some balsamic to the burrata and it's on point... the lasagna was great, the bechamel wasn't over powering, the flavor of the Paccheri Ricotta Pomodorini was great and would have been even better if we could have chose the pasta and if it had more confit tomatoes. Drinks were also great! The service was outstanding, Maggie new the menu inside and out and provided us with fantastic service. Go to Pasta Beach, ask for Maggie and enjoy your evening...

Andie C.

Yelp
so excellent!! as somebody who lived in italy's for a year, my opinion is very correct on italian food and theirs is so delicious. i ate a pasta with ricotta and pomodorini and it was so good. their pizzas are amazing also and the bread they provide as an appetizer is fresh and soft. our waitress was nice and friendly and the decor is cutesie. i def recommend!!

Caitlin S.

Yelp
Was excellent in every way! Would highly recommend . Food was amazing so was staff! They accommodated our large group. Can't wait to go back ! Location was also great! Very walkable from downtown area

Mara C.

Yelp
The music taste is great! The food is amazing, I had a great panini at lunchtime. The service is attentive.

Yelp
Great place to go, wasn't to die for but wasn't bad either - definitely worth checking out nonetheless! The vibes are cool and the staff are great!

Yelp
Loved Pasta Beach! Great ambience, beautiful decor, lovely servers, and yummy food! I had their carbonara, super good, and my husband had their bolognese- which he said was the best. We were also very impressed with their selection of mocktails. Their fall special was one of the most flavorful drinks I've had! All-in-all, a great date spot. Can't wait to go back.

Tammy S.

Yelp
The cutest atmosphere! And everything we ordered was delicious. My son was obsessed with the bread in the beginning. Love Pasta Beach!!

Rachel D.

Yelp
I didn't eat here, but my friends did and they loved it. The reason why I'm posting a 5-star review is because I was visiting Newport, RI with my family for a wedding and my 20-year-old son went for a walk at night. He wandered down to the beach and his shoes and bottoms of his pants got wet. He was very cold and his phone died and he went into a gas station and asked to use the phone and they refused , every other place was closed. He explained that he was lost and just needed to borrow the phone to call his mom said and they said that they would call the police. He noticed that there were workers in Pasta Beach cleaning after closing and asked to use their phone, explaining his situation that he just needed to call his mom because his phone died and he was cold and was lost. Without his phone, he did not know how to get back to our hotel. He said that a very nice woman let him use the phone to call me. I really don't know what would've happened if he had been left out in the cold all night not being able to get back to us so that place has a special place in my heart.

Yelp
Always a cozy and delightful dinner. Sunday of Turkey Day weekend caused us to eat so early on a Sunday - 530 PM - we felt like "seniors". Great service from a New Zealand gal. Had cocktails and split the prosciutto and burrata plate. A huge portion and perfect for sharing. Entrees were tagliatelle with asparagus and bolognese lasagna. Both large portions. The first excellent but the lasagna was under and overcooked with the bottom noodles "crunchy" and some noodles not cooked (aka doughy). Damages with tip was $115. The not properly cooked dish dinged our review and they should supply some seasonings to add to the mediocre olive oil on the table. Food 3/5 Service 5/5 Value 5/5 Cleanliness 5/5 Noise 3/5 Decor 4/5

Melissa M.

Yelp
So impressed with the quality of the food and cocktails at Pasta Beach. Based on the name I expected a Spaghetti Warehouse type experience and that could not be further from the reality. A charming old home with a pizza oven and artful design of both the lighting and tables. The outdoor patio was buzzing with people enjoying their meals in an intimate setting. We sat at the bar, our bartender was efficient and took her cues from us about lingering over cocktails and dinner. Cocktails were delightful. Sicilian salad to start hitting it out of the park. I had the tagliatelle funghi, my husband had rigatoni with a creamy tomato sauce. I would rank Pasta Beach up there with some of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. Phenomenal experience.

Yelp
My Newport friends took me out to dinner at Pasta Beach and it was SPECTACULAR. I started with the Alpine Slide cocktail, which was deliciously unusual and left me wanting even more. The Romana salad (grilled romaine, charred onions, pancetta, feta crumble, lemon vinaigrette) was likewise so unique and delicious, Would never have thought to grill a head of lettuce but it was so yummy. I chose the Sacchetti (sacchetti pasta filled with pear and gorgonzola, walnuts, Parmigiano Reggiano, celery, butter and thyme sauce) which was again, so unusual and delicious. My friends were envious when they tasted it, though their pizza and calzone, both with mushrooms, were great. We also shared a lovely bottle of Montepulciano. I would go back here in a heartbeat the next time I visit Newport.
google avatar

Allison T.

Yelp
Great spot! The grilled romaine salad is AMAZING, the fried eggplant appetizer was interesting (it comes cold which we weren't expecting) and the bruschetta is unbelievable! I got the mushroom pasta with light sauce and the pasta was perfectly cooked. My friend got the penne arrabbiata but with spaghetti and it was extremely good as well. Service was awesome, our only complaint was that it's super hot in there in the summer
google avatar

Kristi A.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance and great service. The wine list was great and I loooooved their eggplant pasta dish. The pasta fagiole was good but fell a little flat for me. Would definitely come back next time I'm in Newport!

Melissa F.

Yelp
We had high hopes for our dinner - the place is nicely decorated and inviting. We had a reservation, and we were seated right away. In the front, near the hostess stand. Try to sit further back in the restaurant, it's much nicer. The good: ambience, pizza, gnocchi, grilled salad. The bad: we did not receive bread when seated, the calamari was tasteless (didn't even have salt!), too heavily breaded and did not come with enough marinara sauce (smaller than described as well), grilled chicken was way undercooked (so we returned), had to get my own salt and pepper, disinterested/apathetic server, odd music selection which did not seem to fit the vibe. We wanted to love it but did not. Beware of the parking lot next door, it's $30 for 2 hours! Find street parking. Or just go somewhere else.

Rich C.

Yelp
We just had dinner tonight. Food was OK but there is a new menu. I tried something new. There was a nut in my dish. I am allergic to nuts. I pointed this out to the waitress. She clearly did her job because I saw some lady come yell at the cooking staff. I could see the whole thing as I was sitting at the bar. The reader for 2 stars is because of a manager with no backbone. He walked by several times. I believe had a clear understanding of what happened but never even checked in. No offer what so ever. I 100 percent blame pour management. The atmosphere was good but ultimately I can not recommend this place.
google avatar

David G.

Yelp
Service was just okay, nothing above and beyond and nothing to write home about. Drinks were good and probably the best part. Dark setting with candles placed at every table. I personally feel as if the food wasn't worth the price. Carbonara tasted purely of bacon. Overall I think it's fine but we probably won't be back.
