Best Things to Eat and Drink at Downtown San Jose’s San Pedro Square Market - Eater SF

"Speaking of Italian cuisine, you’ll want to pay a visit to Pasta Fresca. Shawn McKenna, the restaurant’s owner, spent a stint working at a Michelin star restaurant in England in the 90s, and he makes a mean meat lasagna. But his go-to recommendation is the carbonara: pasta made from scratch, then cooked with egg yolks to thicken it to its customary creamy texture. And let’s not forget the grinding of fresh black pepper. “It needs to be eaten within 10 minutes,” Shawn shares on the San Pedro Square Market website. “That’s why I don’t offer to-go for this, unless you order with cream.”" - Johanna Harlow

Probably 4.5. This was very good bathe pasta was homemade and the sauce was excellent. Some pasta, with sausage and two sodas came to $31.00. In California terms it was a fairly priced meal. The portions were very reasonable, it was a lot of sausage for the price and the meal was, again, very good. I would definitely come back and try a different offering. The only drawback was the seating. The concept is good and the seating is shared by many different restaurants. Like a very upscale food court. When it gets busy, like my visit, it’s harder to find a place to eat. Still, come and eat, your stomach will thank you.

Google
We tried their lunch menu. We got a Caesar salad with some bread along with our pasta. We had the pesto and the bolognese sauces, they were good but not amazing. Both sauces and the pasta seemed fresh. Good value for money and very convenient

Google
Nice spot for a surprisingly filling portion of pasta for the price. More authentic than a lot of pasta places. Chill staff manning the spot, cooked up some cozy and comforting mac and cheese.

I loved the vegetarian pesto pasta that we had here. It felt so authentic and fresh. I was sitting close to the kitchen top and could see the chefs whipping fresh food made to order. I am giving one star less for the fact that the price I felt was high, otherwise I loved everything about the food.

Google
Its located in San Pedro market and have been here for a few times now. This place has fresh pasta with vegetarian option. It’s like a live pasta counter where you can watch how your pasta is being prepared. I liked the pasta with pesto sauce which tasted really good. The price is affordable with quick service and consistent quality. Only downside is the serving portion.

Lady was craving carbonara and she wanted to try this place. She didn't like hers maybe it was the eggs that came from a carton? I got the spaghetti and meatballs, Noodles were over cooked and the sauce was very bland. Very expensive for the portion you get. They seemed to be getting confused on the orders and who did what and what needed to be done with in the 3 staff. It was pretty busy in San Pedro square since soccer games were on the screens so maybe that was it. Will probably won't come back to this place.

Google
Came on a Monday lunch and greeted by amicable staff. Wasn't too busy with customers and recieved my order fairly quickly. The lunch special was a great option as it is the same serving size as if you order the ravioli a la carte. There was nothing special or different about the cheese ravioli but a great spot to grab some Italian food if in the mood.

Google
This is a no-frills pasta place but the sauce and pasta itself are fresh. Their Mac and cheese is pretty good, a sure kid-pleaser. As some reviews have stated, it is the only place worth going in San Pedro Square and the prices are reasonable. I like the fettuccine and ravioli personally. However, the pasta does get cold fast, especially if you eat outside, so be sure to appreciate it while it's hot. Sometimes the line can get long but there is a self-order kiosk.

Yelp
Oh my gosh! Delicious. Spaghetti with Shrimp, Chicken, and Sausage. Lots of flavor. This is a must try! I went on a Tuesday afternoon. The place wasn't too busy. The market is small and cozy. I was a little hesitant at first but it did not disappoint.

Yelp
oops forgot to take a picture before eating located in San Pedro, across from the pizza pasta always seems fresh & chewy the lunch specials are much better bang for your buck - includes a drink and two pieces of garlic bread chicken comes w a lot of skin sausage is just standard lunchables esque sausage lol , not Italian sausage kinda greasy but it works - I make sure to take a lactaid first as gen z would say: pretty mid

Yelp
Took my younger cousins here because they were craving pasta, and for what we got, I would say it's better to just make your own pasta at home. We came on a Sunday afternoon and there was no wait. We paid over $50 for two pastas with garlic bread. One of my cousins got the shrimp fettuccine alfredo, and my other cousin got the fettuccine alfredo with chicken. The food was served on black plastic plates. It was sad-looking white sauce and noodles. The flavor and presentation of the pastas was lackluster. It could use more salt. The shrimp was cooked well. My kid cousin didn't like the garlic bread; he took one bite and stopped eating. It wasn't the worst, but it could be softer, fluffier, and more flavorful. I'd pass on this one.

Yelp
Really upset at the service. I chose a table nearby (there are only two in the corner). I'm not usually very picky about service unless it's overtly hostile. The chef had my name on the order since I ordered at the kiosk and not at the counter, which is when they give you a restaurant pager for pick up. He didn't call me by name, knowing I was sitting right across from him. When another person came to pick up their order with a pager, he let it ring as if he didn't hear it for maybe 5-10 minutes. I came over and asked him to shut it off. As I continued my meal, another person picked up their order and dropped off another pager. He let this one ring as well. I had to take my food over to Voyager Coffee. It's not an if, it's truly that he didn't want me watching him cook. Ain't that something. I wonder what it is that he's doing that he's so worried about an observing customer hmmm? PS - I got a $45 ticket in order to write this review. That's how serious this is.

Yelp
This is in the back of the market and could be missed - but shouodnt because it has some delicious Italian flavors! They have house made sauces and I love the red sauce. I got the chicken parm which wasn't dry and was crispy. The pasta even had some veggies in it. Pasta was a little mushy but overall pretty good. The Garlic doesn't have any garlic flavor but isn't bad tasting, it's probably toasted in olive oil. You have to order on a kiosk but the chef was quick to work on my order as soon as we submitted it. Nah too much of an Italian ambiance to it but it does sell the sauce so that's a plus!

Yelp
Stopped by before a sporting event. I haven't been in a long time so seeing how busy this place was on a Friday afternoon was great. Pasta Fresca was my choice and glad I went! Their pasta is cooked fresh in front of you. I enjoyed seeing the cooking process so this was a treat. The pesto pasta was really wonderful. I could order this again next I go. The side salad was good; however, I would ask next time that the dressing be served on the side. It was tossed really well but I'd probably go with much less if self-served. Enjoy seating anywhere throughout the Market. We went over towards the beer hall, grabbed a brewski and enjoyed our email.

Yelp
How anyone can eat here and give this place anything but 5 stars is beyond me. Incredible. 7/5 stars. I love this place to the moon and back. The pasta is freshly made and you can tell. It's soft and cooked perfectly. I had the bolognese, which was like your classic bolognese, but so much better. The tangy parmesan was the perfect addition to all of the dishes. I'll be honest, I shed a few tears writing this review and thinking back on this place. It was really that good.

Yelp
Got the shrimp alfredo on a Saturday evening. The fettuccine pasta was cooked just fine, but the sauce and shrimp were slightly bland, creamy sure but not buttery nor cheesy... seriously for $20, I think they could add some salt or pepper, maybe some garlic, a little more of anything to enhance the taste... maybe it was an off day?!? On the bright side, there was no wait to order at the front kiosks and my food was ready in less than 10 minutes, served piping hot. Also, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they now offer free parking for the first 1.5 hours at the garage across the street from San Pedro Square Market.

Yelp
Chicken Parmesan is the best!!! They can modify the recipe to make it with Chipotle sauce as well.

Yelp
TLDR: Great Chicken Parmigiana I know we didn't have much time before our TSO concert, so I thought we would re-visit San Pedro Market again. Maybe there's some new restaurant that looks interesting? I'm pretty much fine with any food court fare; my wife... is a little bit pickier. After perusing BOTH buildings, she "settled" on this place. It's in quotes, because to our surprise, it was settling at all! The chicken was amazingly NOT dry at all! It was crunchy on the outside, but tender on the inside. The pasta was cooked al-dente, just the way I like it, although my wife would prefer a bit more mushier. Yeah, she's an odd duck. In a nod to being unique ( and perhaps a way to get you to eat more veggies!) , the chef included some nice squash, some broccoli, and peas.... Well, I could do without the last one. For the price, $20, it's a bit pricey... but you have to factor in the location (Downtown) and for the quality, it's actually a decent meal.

Yelp
Awesome Pasta although being a little expensive. Paid about $60 for 2 plates and 2 drinks and tipped about $10. The service was awesome, the gentleman who took our order seems to also be the one making pasta and he recommended the chicken add on which I ordered. Parking and finding the place wasn't bad, probably due to being a Tuesday. Nice sunny day in the bay after all the raining last week! I definitely recommend this place for some nice pasta on a week day if you're near Downtown.

Yelp
I got the bolognese lunch special that comes with salad, bread and a drink. For $14, I thought it was a nice deal. I work within walking distance to Pasta Fresca so I probably wouldn't drive out of my way to eat here. This definitely fulfilled my lunch time craving for pasta. I also thought the workers were nice and pleasant.

Yelp
A delightful little pasta spot in San Pedro Square! You order via kiosk and receive a text when you meal is ready. There is plenty of outdoor straying, and there was live music today (Thursday @8:00pm). You may need to share a picnic table and make some friends, but it is a lively and welcoming area! There is limited indoor seating, too. Plenty of friends meeting after work. The past itself was very tasty. Great ravioli flavors with parmigiana, mushrooms, and spinach. It was very filling, too! Lovely portion.

Yelp
One of my favorite place to get fresh pasta. They make it consistently every morning. I use to go here a lot when I was a student at SJSU. 2 years later, the quality hasn't diminished at all. They use quality ingredients to make their pasta and sauces. I got the spaghetti and meatballs and it tasted absolutely delicious. You can definitely tell the sauce is made in-house. The garlic bread was also delicious. Paired well with the spaghetti. They added a bunch of new stuff since I last dine-in. I was surprised when I saw they offered agua frescas. They had agua de melon (cantaloupe) and it was pure delicious. Just naturally cantaloupe and nothing extra.
google avatar

Yelp
Best quality pasta, price, and customer service. The ambiance is really great because it's in San Pedro Square. Seriously though, can't get better than a 12 dollar freshly made pasta for lunch. I've never been anywhere that has a plate of pasta below 18 dollars.
google avatar

JENNIFER S.

Yelp
I made a mistake and ordered the beef ravioli. I missed that they add cheese in the ravioli and use pink sauce uses cream sauce. I can't eat anything wheat with cream and most creams make me terrible sick. They graciously offered to replace the meal. And the egg plant is delicious. Love Italian food. Loved it. I recommend this place! Staff was kind and did me right!!
google avatar

Yelp
San Pedro square has lots of places to choose from when it comes to eating. You can literally get any type of food you can think of. They have so many vendors in every corner. I saw my friend get pasta and I was like yup, I'm getting pasta. For a chicken fettichini and garlic bread, I paid $25 with tip. That's alot for just casual dining. You order through a kiosk and wait for your food when you get a text message. The food doesn't take long, which is great, but the chicken was so tiny. The sauce was more watery, and did not attach well to the noodles. I did however, love the fresh noodles. I did try my friends Carbonara and their eggplant parm. Both were decent.

Yelp
The pasta here is fresh and delicious. I have eaten here in the past a handful of times and they never disappoint. I am always very happy with the timely manner in which I receive my food. As you can see they definitely give a very generous serving size. It's a great pasta place to have a casual lunch or dinner. If you are a pasta lover like me I definitely recommend trying this place.

Yelp
Good pasta but small portion size. Detailed breakdown below: **Service, 4/5** I originally wanted to order the carbonara to go, but the gentleman taking my order recommended against it since it wouldn't be fresh, so I ordered the chicken bianca instead. Quick service, but docking a star for lack of friendliness/warmth and my to go ordered wasn't packed up in a bag despite the bottom of the container being piping hot and too hot to hold. **Price & portion, 2/5** I was disappointed at the small to go portion size. I was still pretty hungry afterwards despite the end total being almost $20 after tax and a 15% tip. The to go container was already small and was only about halfway filled. **Presentation of the food, 4/5** Very simple and straightforward presentation. Not the prettiest pasta dish, but all the individual components were clear. **Taste of the food, 4.5/5** Even though I took this to go and ate it about 30 minutes later, the spaghetti in the chicken bianca was coated in the delicious cream sauce and I liked that they used dark meat chicken instead of white meat. Docking a half star because I bit into a piece of broken chicken bone. **Other notes** Street parking is free after 6pm, and the restrooms are located across from the banh mi shop on the other end of the food hall.

Yelp
Italian food is not typically my first choice but when I saw the sign for "fresh made pasta" I was sold! I probably would've gone for the macaroni & cheese myself but my husband and I were sharing so I looked for something a little more meaty. I decided on the bolognese tagliatelle and I'm so glad I did. When the plate came out it was like I was eating at a nice restaurant, not getting take out from a food court! It was steaming hot and the pasta was fresh. They weren't skimpy on the meat and veggies in the sauce. Such a filling and hearty plate of food! It is a bit pricey at $15 but might just be the type of area you're eating in...kinda like food truck prices. Would be nice if it came with some kind of side salad or maybe bread for that price at least. But still I would definitely recommend eating here when you're at San Pedro Square!

Yelp
This place deserves 10 stars if I could! It's a great place and I always get my food here. There are other places I could eat but I just can't resist their spaghetti, Alfredo, and yummy pesto pasta's. They also have amazing Italian homemade drinks like agua fresca, and watermelon Fresca. A-MA- ZING. The service is also great they always smile when they get your order. The overall look of the restaurant is an original Italian old fashioned dining place. Homemade pasta is right they have a literal cheese bowl to make the Alfredo!
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
Come here if you want fresh pasta (without having to go to a sit down dinner)! I had to try a few things and surprisingly the good ol kids butter noodles were my favorite! The pasta is incredible, good consistency you can really taste it. The Alfredo and meat sauce was flavorful , not a ton on them but I like that they are homemade. Add on meatball was not good, not worth the 3 don't do it. But hey this is a pasta place. Dry and no flavor and small. Cesar salad was perfectly dressed and a true classic.

Yelp
I love getting food at Pasta Fresca! I've ordered at this place multiple times. My favorite dish is the spinach ravioli! What I love most about this place is that the portions are really good, and just enough to fill my hungry tummy! Today, I stopped by and saw their their big self-order/self- pay touchscreen! I think my eyes bugged out looking at all the pictures!! Again, of course, I crave ravioli! This time I chose chicken and spinach ravioli with mixed vegetables! I, especially, love the green beans and the red pepper bites. My meal was warm and authentic; it was the ideal, hearty and healthy amount. I can definitely see myself ordering this meal as a staple in the future when I'm at San Pedro Square.

Yelp
This place needs more stars, so I am writing a review. Tried this on a whim on 4/28/23 as the picture of their ravioli looked appetizing. I almost passed on it when I saw the 3.5 star rating but reading the first review that said they make their own pasta fresh made me give them a chance. And I'm glad I did! I ended up ordering the spinach and chicken ravioli and it was deeeeeeeelicious! The pasta was al dente, the sauce was generous, the chicken was moist - everything was great! My husband actually asked to share mine since he liked mine better than what he ordered. It is pretty pricey, at $17 for a small rectangular size, but it's San Jose, so I am not so sticker shocked. Service was fast (I used the machine to order but they also have a person who can take your order), and the personnel seemed friendly enough. I'm looking forward already to trying the rest of their menu. Hope they don't disappoint!

Yelp
This is a food court, went with my kids and they loved all the options. The pasta was so delicious. You can have a meal and dessert on your way out.

Yelp
We were all meeting up at San Pedro Square and I took a stroll to see what they offered and I ended up choosing this place. I ordered the lunch special pesto pasta and requested to add chicken. The special comes with a salad so I asked for the Ceaser with the dressing on the side. I added a bottle of Perrier as they had few drinking options. I was given a number and I took a seat. My order came out and I was less than impressed at the quantity and the overall look of the pasta. The pasta was not good and it had and overwhelming taste of spinach. The salad was your basic side salad. I ate half the pasta and all of the salad and I was still hungry. For the $16+ cost for this meal I was sourly disappointed at the taste and portion. I will pass on this place.
google avatar

Yelp
We ate at Pasta Fresca in San Pedro Square Market. The food is made right in front of you as you sit at the counter. The portions are pretty decent and the food tasted okay. I ordered the Chicken Bianca and my friend ordered the Spaghetti & Meatballs. The food was presented nicely and the staff members were nice. I thought the Bianca had a strong and interesting flavor from the cheese. The pasta was nice and creamy, but could use more sauce. The Spaghetti & Meatballs was as expected - good.

Yelp
I was getting my hair done while hubby was looking for some good pizza. (Thanks, Whole Paycheck for losing a customer because you decided to close the pizza shop early for the day!!!) Hubby decided to get his pizza and soda here. When I was done with getting my hair did, I met him and saw the eggplant parm and I just can't resist them. I also got meat and pappardelle as well thinking "$10 for eggplant parm? I'm probably gonna get a small dish eggplant slice!" I was SOOOOO WRONG!!! And I had to take home a bunch of food. But I'm not complaining. This pasta and eggplant parm is really good stuff! Very comforting on this pretty chilly night. However, next time I come here, I'll get the eggplant and a side salad, so I won't feel so STUFFED!!! (I'll give the pasta to hubby!!!) Looks like I will have to make another trip to this new hair salon in the future... so I can get more pasta and eggplant parm at Pasta Fresca!!!

Yelp
Pasta Carbonara was amazing! so quick for a busy night but won't step foot anywhere else for carbonara cause this place is the bomb
google avatar

Cecilia M.

Yelp
Food was definitely made to order, and well worth the wait. The pineapple (fresca) juice was a bit watery, but food was BOMB! Will for sure be back here. Tasted very authentic, much better than their neighbor Spaghetti Factory! ‍

Yelp
This is one place we visit if we're in the area for an event. It had been awhile since I had eaten here, so I looked forward it. Located in San Pedro Square, tucked away towards the back of the building. Simple menu, dishes made to order. I chose fettuccini bolognese with fresh herbs. Fresh made noodles with a tasty meat sauce. I enjoyed it..sauce is a little sweet and I added red chili pepper flakes to spice it up a bit. Ordered a side of garlic bread $2 , underwhelmed by the portion size and flavor. Overall, good dish and I could taste the freshness. Left a little hungry, I do recall they use to add a small salad to the dish without charge..small extra fee now to add.

Yelp
Homemade? Really? Chewy like leather. Do not waste your time - do not buy. Homemade? Really? Chewy like leather. Do not waste your time - do not buy.

Yelp
Was in town for work today and a friend recommended the San Pedro market. I definitely recommend the pasta here. You can tell it's made fresh. Portion was much bigger than I expected for the lunch special. Very tasty.
google avatar

Yelp
I had a Caesar salad and there is not much to it honeslty. Also, I never thought I would say this but ...too much cheese and dressing. The salad was wayyyyy to over dressed for my preference. The location is conveniently located inside of San Pedro Square Market. The service was pleasant and the food came out fast.
google avatar

Mia B.

Yelp
They are located on the inside of San Pedro square marketplace. Really polite service, you can tell they really care about their food. I had the carbonara and it was delicious, I scarfed down the entire plate. It is super rich and made traditionally which I appreciated, however the price is a lot (they cater to the lunch rush from nearby offices for sure). It was overall a good experience.
google avatar

Yelp
I was looking for a quick pasta lunch, and Pasta Fresca was a perfect choice. The menu was full of delicious selections to choose from. I had the delicious Chicken and Spinach Ravioli in mushroom sauce. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was casual. I'm glad I found Pasta Fresco in the San Pedro Square Market.
google avatar

Yelp
Good pasta area in the downtown area. This is a low-key area with other foods and bars in the square. The area is great to spend time with friends and also watch sports games. I ordered the Spaghetti and Meatballs while I was there. They make the pasta in front of you which is made fresh to order. The pasta itself is good for what it is worth. The presentation is what made it stand out the most.

Yelp
Not good, but not bad. We had ordered one of the summer pastas and a pesto dish. The pesto pasta was okay, not a strong garlic or herb taste to the dish. The other pasta was really weird. It tasted like milk, not cheese but milk. My friend still ate it, but went to another shop to ask for some salt and pepper to add some flavor to the dish. Also, when we first came over to the restaurant, we couldn't tell if it was open or closed. There was not a closed sign posted, but nobody was around.

Yelp
San Pedro has a variety of food options for your choosing. I'd have to say that Pasta Fresca shouldn't be your first choice. It's in the first building food court tucked away in the corner. I was in SP to meet up with some friends and i was STARVING. I took a quick lap around the food court and knew that Italian food would hit. I recently had some pasta with a white wine sauce that was pretty good, I figured why not double down and get the chicken bianca. It has a white wine sauce, chicken and pasta. It comes with a small side mixed greens side salad. Can I say the meal was a let down? The dish came with spaghetti noodles, which threw me off. I would've ordered spaghetti if I wanted those noodles.. -_- I will say the noodles were al dente and may have been the best part of the dish. The white wine sauce was flat, I didn't get much wine flavor nor much of any other flavor. The chicken wasn't seasoned and reminded me of when I used to oven baked chicken but forgot to season it. No garlic bread either, just chicken, spaghetti noodles and a white sauce. The portion size isn't terrible but I don't think I would've wanted a large portion anyway. The price isn't high but...it still didn't feel worth it. I think maybe their other dishes are better with more flavor but for me, I think I'll keep it moving.

Yelp
If you are craving pasta, try to resist ordering pasta from here because their dishes are very salty. Now that you have been warned, here's the story. My husband and I ordered pasta carbonara and chipotle pasta with meatball ($3 for one meatball). It's across from Buca de Beppo, so should be good, right? We arrived around 1pm on a Saturday. My husband loves pasta carbonara, so we decided to get pasta. We ordered on the tablet at the counter, so we got the notification through SMS when the food was ready. From my picture, the dishes look very good, right? That's what we thought. However, upon the first bite, all we tasted was saltiness. They use the pancetta that's super salty and the pasta carbonara sauce only has salty flavor. Although the pancetta is lean, not fatty. Hence, the one star. For the chipotle pasta, we added meatball. That's one $3 meatball. The meatball is the star of the dish. Hence, another one star. The pasta sauce, again, is very salty and spicy. They add chilli pepper flakes and cheese on top. I like the spiciness and cheese, but the saltiness is just unbelievable. I don't know what the two chefs are doing behind the counter. How can the sauce for both dishes be very salty. I will not order pasta from here again. I do not recommend ordering pasta from here.

Yelp
The pasta carbonara was rich and succulent. It's purely a simple dish to make but not every place can make it the proper way. Here before the Sharks game on a Friday night and was pleasantly surprised by how tasty this was. Extremely fast service and prices are very reasonable.

Yelp
My wife and I was invited to a friends birthday and was looking for food. We happened to stumble apon this restaurant. The staff here are nice and friendly. The food is pretty good and fresh. They even give salad with your entree. I love how they give you a portion that is just right that don't make you have a food coma. This restaurant is located in San Pedro Square Market. Don't forget to get your validation card if you park in the garage. Cons: On busy days it's hard to find a table.

Yelp
I always have a special spot in my heart for those places that have saved me from hanger. This was one of them. I ended up getting the bolognese tagliatelle with some meatballs on top (omg I feel like I'm in a spelling bee as i write that pasta dish). wait for fresh pasta was not bad at all. literally waited like 5 minutes on a Friday afternoon, around 6 PM. It comes with a small little salad, and they place a fork in the to-go container, assuming that you will eat the salad first. silly people, I'm going straight for the pasta, obviously. Pasta: Pretty damn good. Meatballs were pretty decent. My husband had some of mine (when I finally let him), and he raved about them and said that they were some of the best meatballs/pasta sauce he has had. He is very italian and critical of all italian food, so his word is pretty legit. As a less legit italian, I think the pasta was pretty good, and you can tell that the pasta was fresh. It wasn't my favorite pasta, but not too bad. Price was reasonable, but I do wish they served a bit more pasta :). I'll be back if i'm in the area, craving pasta.

Yelp
I hate to give this place 1 star but.... the noodles were hard and both of our choices had cream-based sauces, but there wasn't enough sauce so all the noodles stuck together in one big clump. Carbonara pasta shouldn't be like that! The chicken was dry in the chicken Bianca, and the salad was extremely forgettable (we didn't finish it). Better off trying the other stalls around San Pedro. We should've been more wary when there was no line for this place.

Yelp
Best pasta for the price in downtown SJ. Check their hours, because they can be sporadic. But definitely check them out.

Yelp
Pasta is not bad. The meatballs are okay. The Caesar salad is decent. Good serving sizes. They had a jug of iced water so after I placed my order, I asked for a glass of water. They didn't have any glasses and they didn't have bottle water to sell so I had to go to another food establishment just to buy water. That was inconvenient, especially when a woman behind me handed him her glasses to get water refills.

Yelp
With my friends on a lazy Sunday evening before the Fall Out Boys Concert and one of our co-horts suggested to go to San Pedro Square Market, as there are different little shops to eat. I always do like places where you can choose different types of cuisine,a s not everyone can agree on food. However, San Pedro was not as good as Shirokiya Japan Village Walk or Pine Street Market. For me, the food in all of the stands were pricey. My friend got a banh mi, which she said was tasty but it cost $9. For me that is too much for a Vietnamese sandwich. We also got the salt and pepper calamari from other stand, but from pasta fresca, I tried the arrabiata. I love pasta with a kick, but the spicy level was too high with the sauce being too plain. The sauce was very rustic and lacked developed flavor (while overpowering with too much red pepper flakes). The fresh pasta was also flat, as it most likely was pre-made to mix with the sauce later on. My friend got the Ravioli-Ricotta, which was tasty and the price was not bad, but it was just average for me.
