Homemade pasta, sauces, and soft serve ice cream
"At Pasta Louise, they make one shape of pasta every day. You pick a style—like cacio e pepe or lamb sugo—then choose from a list of toppings that include burrata, shrimp, Calabrian chiles, and breadcrumbs. It's a fun concept, and there are always lots of kids running around, so you won't feel undressed in your shorts and Hokas. The dining room is decked out in flowers, and it's about as casual as a neighborhood cafe, but if you need to air-dry your clothes, we suggest a table on the outdoor patio." - bryan kim
"You don’t have to answer, but we’re still going to ask: have you ever felt jealous of your offspring when they get to order the build-your-own pasta off the kids' menu, and you have to resort to a predetermined pasta fate? If the answer is yes—and again, we don’t need to know—go to Pasta Louise. Everybody picks their pasta sauce and toppings at this flower-covered Park Slope spot, so your toddler can get the roasted tomato sauce with whipped ricotta, and you can get the spicy red pesto with shrimp, burrata, and breadcrumbs. The only thing you can’t pick is their actual pasta shape. (They make one shape per day, and the whole shtick is pretty charming.)" - willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah
"Pasta Louise has a lot of fake flowers and a highly customizable pasta menu, in case you’d like your cacio e pepe topped with crispy prosciutto or calabrian chilis (though actually, it's great just plain). If you’re meeting a friend in the Park Slope area, this is a charming and relatively affordable choice. And in the warmer months, there’s a lot of outdoor seating where you can lounge and chat with a spritz." - willa moore, will hartman, molly fitzpatrick
"Pasta Louise is a new neighborhood Italian spot in Park Slope serving homemade sauces and fresh pasta by the pound. They’ve got eight curated pasta kits, including the pasta, sauce, some fresh bread, and a bottle of wine, available on their website for pick-up and delivery, and each kit is created according to a specific takeout mood. So whether you’re looking for a big night-in with mafaldine and wild mushroom cream sauce or something spicy like casarecce in a red pesto sauce, Pasta Lousie has you covered." - hannah albertine, nikko duren, bryan kim, matt tervooren
"At this popular Park Slope spot, they make one shape of pasta every day. You choose between house special sauces like Sicilian spicy pesto and cacio e pepe, and add toppings like breadcrumbs, cannellini beans, and prosciutto. The menu is a hit with kids, as is the relatively spacious dining room—but the atmosphere and nice bar aren’t too PG for strictly adult dinners. We don’t know how long it’ll be before Olive Garden loses the copyright for their famous slogan, but Pasta Louise could easily adopt it (as long as you’re willing to overlook their lack of unlimited breadsticks)." - willa moore, sonal shah, neha talreja, bryan kim, carina finn koeppicus
