At Belmont Food Cart Night Owl, Lunch Is Served at Midnight | Eater Portland

"She left culinary school early to take a job at the stalwart gourmet market Pastaworks (now Providore), where she worked through most of the market’s departments and cut her teeth in the production kitchen—an early professional environment that helped shape her skills and approach to ingredients and technique." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Had some oysters at Flying Fish and then wandered this fun shop. A mix of a grocery store with many imported candies and goods. We tried the moon grapes, they were amazing! Very crisp and strong grape flavor.

Fabulous find. Wide selection of cheeses, meats (great variety of Salami, Guanciale, Sausages, Duck, Pancetta, Prosciutto, etc.), fresh homemade pasta, gourmet ingredients, fresh pasta sauces, wines, and beautiful produce. Parking can be a challenge.

Lovely goodies, fabulous stock, very friendly staff. Bought focaccia at the bakery, and stopped at the car curbside to give my husband and me a piece, nice lady came running out to give us napkins! Check out person was chatty and friendly. I'll definitely go back!

All kinds of wonderful goodies and the Butcher Block has fantastic meat and seafood. Don't forget to check out the imported candy by the checkout. Very helpful staff!

I'm a black guy who loves great food, but any time I walk into a grocery fancier than the Food-4-Less, I get stared at. The only two times I've been at Pastaworks, the butcher and cheese counter workers were cordial and helpful. I'm planning on going back, not only grab some more delicious boar bacon, but also to see if the spell will hold. On the whole, a very refreshing experience.

I spent so much time just wandering around this store with my husband. Lots of interesting items to stare at and I successfully found fresh truffles, which is what brought me here in the first place. Basically a foodie paradise. So many expensive chocolates to aspire to try!

First time I've ever been told deviled eggs were the menu specialty. They were certainly the best I've ever eaten. All of the sandwiches we had were excellent. Beware the hot spicy mustard on the croque madame. My nose is still angry.

Despite the Italian and European imports, deli and bakery, this place also has lots of great higher end kitchen gadgets and housewares. Also, who knew? Some good selection of local and international beers!

Yelp
I'm not a big bread eater because breads these days are never/rarely fermented/cooked in traditional healthy ways.... but the girls were so helpful and friendly I couldn't help but wander on over.... The bread I got was OMG, so yummy. Just came out of the oven and drenched in poured over olive oils, I could see the smoke! Within minutes the 15 inch piece was sold down to the last 3 inch. More is made on a demand basis = fresh. It's said to be double yeast/rise. Cool.

Yelp
Now part of the Providore Fine Foods marketplace on the corner of NE Sandy and 24th, Pastaworks (formerly on SE Hawthorne) offers an impressive variety of Italian foods, including some of the best housemade pastas in Portland. We really like their ravioli, though all of their pastas are delicious and fresh. Pastaworks also offers hard-to-find Italian cured meats, salamis, sausages, and cheeses, along with deli-counter salads and sandwiches and scores of other food items imported from Italy. We like all of their types of ravioli but our favorite has to be mushroom. Get a can of San Marzanos, chop a little garlic, toss in a few leaves of basil, top with some grated pecorino -- you've got yourself a feast.

Yelp
Awesome store!!! I'm visiting from Savannah and I really wanted fresh pasta. Definitely found it as well as numerous other products straight from Italy. I absolutely LOVE this place as they have an excellent selection of hard to find items and the customer service is wonderful! This place is a MUST see!!!

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE going to Pastaworks whenever I want to make pasta a home but don't want to make my own dough. They have fresh pasta every day in sheets and cut it to order depending on what cut you'd like. I always get the Tagliatelle because I'm a fan of a wider noodle. I usually make my own sauce with other ingredients inside Providore (the store that Pastaworks is inside of) but when I want to make it super easy, I pick up a container of sauce, which is normally perfect for 2-3 people and a couple sheets of fresh pasta and call it a day! If you are a lover of good quality ingredients, Providore is the way to go. With Pastaworks, and all the other vendors inside, along with the best options of oils, cheeses, meats, produce, wine and more, you really can't come home and make a less than impressive meal.

Yelp
Just checked out Pastaworks... wow, reminds me much of their fabulous old former store on Hawthorne! Wine, Cheese, Fish, Produce, Pasta, Desserts, Chocolate, Spices, Olives. . . extreme choice on some items! Everything is quite lovely... nice people! Check my photos! Near Sandy and Glisan... part of Providore Market.

Yelp
Pasta works is the largest vender in the new Providore Market. Like the name implies they have a great pasta selection. There is both fresh, and dried pastas. Besides pasta they have other gourmet foods, a large wine selection, and probably Portlands best cheese selection. The cheese selection is my favorite part of the Pastaworks stores. In blocks and wheels they cut to the size you want. Then wrap in paper, so no plastic taste. Pasta works isn't cheep but for hard to find items they are often the lowest price. Where they are expensive is where items are found more easily.

Yelp
Great upscale local owner shop with fun European finds and trendy vibes. Nice deli, and cheese sections with sit down place to eat. Where else can you get a Spanish tortilla?

Yelp
DELISOUS! Everything in this little market is top notch. I warn you, if you buy the fresh pasta (and you should), you will never be able to eat boxed pasta again! Try the stromboli, sample the wine, fresh fish, made from scratch pizza dough to make your own pizza, and of course, their is a bakery/dessert area. Quaint little place, small dining area to eat anything you purchase. For the size, you can really find a lot here.

Yelp
This place is such a pleasure to come to. Immaculate, super friendly, helpful staff. Their selection is very impressive. Their seafood counter is what I love the most. Andre and they crew does full best to educate you as well as feed you. I throughly enjoy working in this part of town just so I can come here. Try the smoked salmon platter, as good if not better than a Manhattan deli. Go to Pastaworks and see for yourself. Don't want to ruin your adventure.

Yelp
Dear Pastaworks, I live a block away from Providore and Pastaworks and frequently stop in. It's not cheap but consistently top quality ingredients and respect for the craft and food - or so I thought. Tonight, my sons asked for fresh pasta with pesto so, naturally, I assumed we were in the right place. Pastaworks. The three of us sat down after a long day excited to share a nice meal together... After the first bite, both of them (ages 14 & 16) asked, "what's wrong with this?! My mouth is SO oily, doesn't taste like real pesto... are we camping again?". So, I tried it and wondered the same thing. It was the same or worse taste and mouth feel as the jar of cheap, mass-produced, factory "pesto" we'd once found at a combination gas station/store when we were camping. I got up to read the Pastaworks label - which included the price: $9 for 8oz. Yes, the same $9 I'd decided to pay because it was a special dinner and it's the best quality, it's Pastaworks. I assumed I'd find it was past it's sell-by date. Nope. It turned out the Pesto tasted exactly like what it was made out of: 100% Soybean Oil. $9.00 8 ounces 100% Soybean Oil Honestly, Pastaworks - you know better than that. So do your customers. Even the terrible grocery store brands at Albertsons and Safeway use some amount of olive oil blended with the cheap oils like canola and soy. If you don't have quality, what is it you have? Your niche is not price so you've got to offer something of value. Customers can see a pretty case full of mediocre quality food at every grocery store in town now - but their prices typically reflect the quality they're offering. Penny wise, dollar foolish.

Yelp
I was very happy with my visit today. They didn't have cocoa nibs for sale out on the floor, but actually packaged and sold me some from their own kitchen inventory. True customer service!
