Bangkok’s Michelin-starred Paste To Open In Luang Prabang

"Set to open in mid-November 2018, Paste Laos will emulate the flagship restaurant’s 'heirloom Thai cuisine' and extend it to Laotian culinary culture and history. The signature dish of Paste Laos is a reinvention of the classic recipe for Laos Duck Curry, Kalee Ped, originally created by the polymath Phia Sing." - Michelin Guide Digital-Singapore

Paste is an amazing restaurant, one of the best I’ve ever been to. Every detail was perfect from the light and airy decor to the unusual, elegant dinnerware, excellent service and creative delicious food. We had the Tasting Menu 1 and enjoyed every bite. I tried to pick a favorite but could not as each item was an enticing mix of flavors, colors and textures. I pay this much for a so-so meal at home in the US, so feel that this meal was an exceptional bargain. Don’t miss it.

Luxury and quiet restaurant to have a fancy dinner. Great service but didn't impress so.much with the taste.

This was one of the most memorable meals that I’ve had in 2019. I hate to be one of those people who start off by saying “I’ve been to many Michelin star restaurants...,” so I’ll just say Paste definitely a big impression on me in terms of creativity, flavours, and execution. The flavors of every dish were not just complex, but also perfectly balanced and well thought out. It's traditional Laotian flavors with a modern twist. I've read other negative reviews that were highly critical of Paste, and I do wonder which restaurants these reviewers actually like. While everyone will have different preferences, to say that Paste lacks any sort of creativity or that the flavors are bland is akin to me saying Van Gogh is a terrible artist because I prefer Monet.

I have to say that this is the best food I've ever had in Luang Prabang and I've been coming here for 15 odd years. [The restaurant doesn't have a "kids menu" so I'm not sure were the last reviewer was. ]. It's classical Laos food done to perfection, the staff are friendly and the wine list is fab. You're bonkers if you don't eat here if you get the chance.

My wife and I recently had lunch at Paste and it was the best meal I've ever eaten. Superb from beginning to end. The room is gorgeous and the staff was amazing. Strangely, we were the only 2 diners, but that actually added to the magical experience!

My husband and I had dinner at Paste and it was one of the best meals we had during our honeymoon. I should say we made our honeymoon something of a culinary journey through Thailand and Laos, eating at several Michelin-star restaurants, and Paste was definitely at their level. Would totally recommend.

Very disappointing. After reading about the chef and the fame in Asia, we thought let us try this on our holidays. The food was less than good. There was nothing exciting about any dish...and the prices were skyrocketing especially for this market. In comparison we had some amazing food in local restaurant the night before for a fraction of the price and it was amazing. Wouldn’t recommend this place at all. No wonder it was empty. (Fair point to note the staff were extremely helpful and polite - what can they do though when the food is below average)

Pretentious and “new rich”.. food was average and decor cold and empty with terrible lighting and lack of elegance and charm. We were expecting the food to be more creative and interesting with smaller portions and different flavours- failed to impress everyone at our table . They had zero non spicy food and offered “the kids menu” as an option.
