The 15 Best Restaurants In Palermo 2024

"When it comes to sweet shops, Cappello is a true Palermitan institution and is famous for their setteveli cake with seven layers of chocolate and hazelnut cream. There are two locations in the city center: the original pastry shop and its behind-the-scenes laboratory, both of which are located between the cathedral and the Capuchin Catacombs. The newly renovated shop reopened in early 2023 with indoor and outdoor seating, a full display case of ricotta cream-filled sweets, marzipan fruit, fried sfince puffs, artisan chocolates, nougat, and gelato." - linda sarris

When visiting Monreale with public transport, take the AST bus from Via Calatafimi (at the moment the 389 bus is suspended). Beforehand, take a detour to two nearby pastry shops, Cappello and Massaro. Their setteveli, seven-layer cakes, are insane

This place was very busy on Christmas and for a reason, I saw so many beautiful pastry platters arranged in front of my eyes each more enticing than the other. Draw a number at the entrance and wait for your turn, order, pay at the cashier and pick up your carefully packed sweets. Sfogliata with ricotta was my favourite, super crispy layers and balanced ricotta cream. The pistachio petit fours was also amazing. House chocolate bars with pistachio and other nuts or dried fruit also available at the cashier desk.

While the cakes themselves were nice, the man who served us was rude. Obnoxious clearly into his phone more than serving us and being somewhat stuck up with my friend's best attempt to speak Italian seemingly consistently misunderstanding which cake she wanted, one or two pieces of. He then proceeded to play with his phone as he was half wrapping our package and generally seemed just annoyed at our existence. The taste of cakes was definitely not worth the attitude that we were given in this place

Angelo, Eugenia, Salvo are excellent in services. Had Americano and Capocino here with both types of pistachio pastries. Superb tasty 😋 and great coffee.

Pasticceria Cappello is truly the best sweet shop in Palermo. The quality of their baked goods is outstanding, and I absolutely love it. Every time I stay in Palermo, this place makes me fall in love with the city even more. I ended up going there every day to enjoy their delicious cakes and pastries. Highly recommended!

We went off the beaten path a bit to find this place because it came highly recommended. Right as you enter, you'll hit a mob, so be sure to take a number from the machine as soon as you get in because it's turn-based. The good news is that the mob is mostly locals, so you know it's a solid pasticceria. We got a couple of the local delicacies and some coffees and sat inside while we snacked on them. The inside seating is a little hectic, so I'd recommend outside if the weather permits and it's not too crowded. The desserts were of course fantastic (and suuuper sweet, which I like), and the coffees were much needed. You should definitely stop in if you have time for a quick(ish, due to the line) treat.

Stumbled across this pastry shop while wandering in Palermo. Great pastries, Canolo was so very good. Also had an espresso coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. Very friendly and patient staff. Prices were reasonable. Saw locals coming in for a midday treat, so not a tourist spot. I would recommend.

Great bakery with a wide variety of cakes and desserts. For some they have two sizes so you can try if you like them. One has to try a wide variety to hone in on the ones you like. I personally liked the Setteveli (chocolate one), cortina cake, baba panna, and on Sundays they have a canoli variant made with a very crispy shell shaped like a croissant - highly recommend.

Very good bakery, very decent prices for Palermo and near old town. Location is a bit hidden and when visiting take someone who speaks Italian. 2 coffee, 2 croissants, 2 small cakes for 6€.
