Pastis

We had dinner with my partner at Pastis. The restaurant is very cozy inside, with jazz music and warm ambiance. We started with 2 glasses of Grüner Veltliner, super tasty. We ordered the plate or charcuterie and the chicorie as entrees. Both were great. Our main courses were the celeriac tarte tatin with brisket and the cod with prawns. For dessert we had a bread pudding with dulce de leche and a crème brûlée. Both of them were great, amazing place!

To start with the positives: the staff was quite friendly and accommodating, although a bit clumsy. The place also looked pretty nice yet also relaxed. The food definitely wasn’t terrible but nothing remarkable. A bit lackluster and bland for French food. A lone steak without frites is a novel concept I have never ever witnessed in France. Menu wasn’t very interesting and quite meager. Portions are a bit stingy compared to your usual French brasserie, which makes it a bit overpriced.

The service - average, the waitress could not remember 3 dishes, but we are also in the Netherlands so I couldn’t expect more, they had free bread at least The food - was okay, but for this price, I was expecting more in terms of quantity and presentation. Also escargot without the shell, but suspicious. But they had a cute cat tho Will not visit again!

Nice ambience, but unfortunately the food itself was nothing to write home about and rather bland. It wasn't bad, but not great either, just average. Also I got a steak medium rare and my mum got hers well done. For some reason her piece of steak was thicker than mine. The steak itself was quite tasty, but cold. Steak tartare was extremely bland. Fries were average, salad was good though. The portions weren't great either, I got three pieces of meat for my main course steak dish.

This is a cosy restaurant with a nice vibe and friendly service. It was the first time I went here with two friends who were visiting from Belgium. After our dinner one of my friends got extremely ill and had a food poisoning. She had to throw up all night and was very weak the next day. I passed by the next day to inform them about this situation. One of the waiters told me they would get in touch with me by phone but I have never received any phone call. For the rest we thought the portions were very small. The three of us were still hungry, also after ordering extra fries. I am normally not a person who eats a lot. Overall we had not had the best experience in this restaurant.

Delicious food, friendly service and a charming looking restaurant with a lovely ambiance. Really glad to have found this place. We had the mussels and steak - highly recommend!

Favorite French restaurant in Amsterdam! Delicious steak tartare, escargot and crème brûlée! Cesar salad and steak was great too! And don’t forget the oysters and pate! Will definitely be back! Service is amazing and the space is cozy and chic!

Everything was impeccable! The escargots and mussels are a must! The menu is pretty restricted however that is usually a sign of mastery for specific dishes.

We enjoyed this place very much. Super friendly beautiful location and great food. The menu is not typical and has delicious options indeed. Great wine, indoor space but also nice outdoor space in nice weather. Worth checking out if you're staying near Leidseplein or even in the center. Get out of the Centrum and visit Oud-West for dinner, this would be a great place to try.

We've been to this charming, unassuming, Gezellig spot a number of times. Service & food are always top notch. If there is a wait & the weather is good, it's often possible to have a drink in the little park out front. The upper balcony is a great place to sit & relax. Highly recommended!!!!

This was the first restaurant my group stopped at in Amsterdam and oh boy did it set the expectations high. For starters, the restaurant is absolutely adorable. The decor is trendy, the music is atmospheric, but most importantly the cat I saw there was so friendly. Let alone the food being great (I had the Caesar salad and it was not only delicious but not overdressed) I need to reiterate how awesome this cat was. The bread they brought to the table was also VERY good. Five star food, five star decor, and five star cat.

Just had a fantastic French meal here tonight with my spouse. Incredible escargot, sea bass with octopus and eggplant, and lentil soup. Lively ambience, excellent friendly service and great food. Lots of locals and very few tourists. Highly recommended.

What a great restaurant. Pastis was a block from my hotel and a quick option for us. The service was welcoming and delightful, we were seated immediately. We had the oysters (fresh and delicious), escargot (best I've ever had), caramelized chicory (sweet, bitter, sublime) for appetizers. My friend had the sea bass and I had a delicious vegetarian dish with meaty mushrooms and delectable accompaniments. The glasses of Pinot were €6.50 and great value for the quality of the wine. Highly recommended and very memorable!

What an amazing dinner. The sea bass dish with hummus and vegetables was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The creme brûlée was classically made and was fresh. Even the butter with the bread basket was the best I've had. The servers spoke English when I told them I don't speak Dutch. They were kind, friendly, and service was prompt :) Perfect way to wrap up a cold and rainy day in Amsterdam.

We found this great little spot on our vacation in Amsterdam. My mom, dad, sister and I loved everything about this restaurant. The low key vibe combined with perfect service and absolutely delicious food was so wonderful we returned two nights later!

This was an amazing find; a recommendation from our concierge. It seems like just the spot the locals would want to keep secret for themselves. The food was very interesting and delicious, you have got to save room for dessert! The service was fantastic and atmosphere was nice.

Pastis is really nice: cozy interior with a lovely vintage bar, good food and friendly service. I have enjoyed some great breakfasts here, especially before the cold weather arrived and I could sit outside with an omlette. Good coffee, too. One really nice thing (as an American struggling to learn Dutch) is that the waitresses have spoken to me only in Dutch, and have been patient as I stumbled along.

6th time here. First brunch. Great eggs Benedict and super coffee. Dinner wise also never disappointed hence the review! Worth a visit!

If you are looking for great food, a good selection of drinks, a modern yet cozy atmosphere, outdoor seating at the intersection of one of Amsterdam's most beautiful streets, good prices (i.e. not expensive) and good service...might I recommend Pastis? I used to live on Bosboom Toussaint until recently. I was there for 3 months and Pastis opened shortly after I arrived...is that a good omen or what? Good for both vegetarians and meat eaters, wine drinkers, beer drinkers, or apertif drinkers. Good for groups and on a sunny day you'll definitely find many diners outside. This place is busy at all hours of the day. I've had their vegetarian entrees twice. Their salads are also wonderful. The service is really friendly, accommodating, and fun. Their chef seems creative, without going overboard. The interior is decorated tastefully with second hand items, but give it a modern/antique feel, if that is possible. You'll enjoy it if you like good food in a good atmosphere!

Maybe it was the incredible weather, my tired feet or the fantastic service -- oh, and food -- but Pastis was a welcome surprise after a long walk around town. I had a delicious sandwich: cheese, avocado, tomato and mayo on whole wheat bread (the standard version has chicken, but I substituted the bird for the cheese).

This French restaurant is fantastic. Popular with locals, Pastis pleases. The Ceasar salad and duck entree are fantastic. The Creme Brulee can't be beat.

We went there with my husband and our baby on Wednesday and were first customers. Service is very pleasant and fast. We had oysters, pate, rabbit leg and the bisque. All of the dishes were amazing. I had Creme brûlée for desert and my husband had the pear with ice-cream. Both worth trying. The place seems like a favorite point of locals so it feels very homey. One of the best finds in the area.

nice ambiente and friendly staff. had a homemade lemonade (really refreshing) and the plateau vegetarien. very interesting combination of soup, salad, fresh baguette, humous... spend the whole afternoon playing cards and drinking capucchino.
