I recently visited a traditional Hungarian restaurant primarily for the food. I can confirm that the goulash was absolutely excellent—rich, flavorful, and truly authentic. While the atmosphere was somewhat lacking and didn't contribute much to the overall experience, the quality of the meal made up for it. The service was efficient enough. Overall, despite the underwhelming ambiance, it was a worthwhile visit just to taste that fantastic goulash. If you prioritize food quality over setting, it’s worth a stop.

Usually I'm not that negative but.... we went for authentic food and ordered special upon we got served a soup portion for two and been asked if after i share the portion doni want a separate plate? It was no spices in it with 4 small pieces of meat (for a share dish) hardly any vegetables. Bread which was served was not house made and it was not fresh. For a daughter we ordered a schnitzel which should be pork by any standard, she was given a chicken also with no spices deep fried in oil which reeks of fries previously done. Lastly the price was horrendous for a soup (seemed like leftover ) a schnitzel which was not) 2 drinks and a juice totalled 62. Euros. And it continues... upon paying the bill within a minute they cleaned up the table taking my wife's unfinished drink ( there was more free tables and no cues for service). I do not recommend this restaurant and its a disgrace calling it authentic, with overcharged prices and bad service.

Wondering why such a susceptible high rating on Google? Yeah you should indeed. The server will ask you for a Google review after the meal hence the high rating. The Good: The service - quick and warm The schnitzel - soft, tender and juicy. Not as thin as all other we had tried but that should be the more authentic one. The Bad: The price - I would say it's exorbitant. We paid 20k HUF for two soups and a schnitzel - a price level on par with a Michelin recommended restaurant. For the food see below. The food is .....ok.... Definitely nothing to write home about. We had been staying in Budapest for a week and tried a lot of restaurants, from street food to Michelin starred fine dine. I would say the food is bland. The goulash is below average. Can't understand why quite some reviews lauding it was the best. The setting - more or less like a fast food restaurant with 15% service charge Avoid restaurants with rating >4.8 seems to be a new rule of life - a sign of shenanigans 90% of time. Not recommended.

First and last time. It's a restaurant, so of course the prices are higher. The menu says in advance that a 15% service charge will be added to the final price. Which I take as okay. But for the waiter to then ask for another 10-20% as a tip is already the height of it (when I pointed out the 15% service charge on the invoice, I was told that it was for the business! So let the owner raise the prices of the meals by 15% (but no one would go there anymore) and let the service charge be left to the waiter)). So be prepared to pay ~25% more for the food! The food was good. The service was average. It was quite annoying when the waiter asked me 3 times if I wanted something to drink and I said no 3 times (while I told him right away that I didn't, we had already drunk at the Christmas markets). The atmosphere was nice, even though I was distracted by the football on the big screen TV. It didn't fit in this environment.

The restaurant is not terrible, but I can only give it 3 stars due to the average food quality and unattentive staff. The prices are also very high for the level of service we received. Paying 16–18€ for an overly salty and not particularly tasty lángos is honestly unreasonable. On top of that, they added a 15% service charge, which would be fine — but when we asked for a lemon and a new spoon, the staff repeatedly walked past us. We ended up waiting more than 5 minutes just for basic items. Overall, I don’t recommend this place. It’s overpriced and the food quality doesn’t justify the cost. If you want good lángos, you’re much better off going to Retro Lángos, just 30 meters away.

I' ve been here and had a very very good meal. Pork goulash soup was very good. Pork langosh papricash I also recomand. This place is great if you would like to eat good hungarian dishes.

Excellent and tasty traditional Hungarian food. The Goulash Soup and Langoush were really good. Service is friendly and the environment is really nice, but basic. We picked the restaurant looking at the Google reviews. Apparently this restaurant is just 2 weeks old, but the third branch of the chain.

The food at Bazilika was really awesome — full of flavor and clearly well prepared, definitely worth trying. However, the waiting time was much longer than expected. I was told they were understaffed, which I understand, but it still felt like ages waiting for the food, especially while already seated and eating along. Some communication or a small gesture during the wait would have made the experience feel better. That said, the quality of the food really stood out, and I’d happily come back again — hopefully with smoother service next time.
