Yelp
With only about 30 locations nationwide (and just a handful of locations on the east coast), Atlanta is lucky to have its very own Patagonia store. The store is located near East Andrews Cafe & Bar in Buckhead. I own a few Patagonia jackets, one of which I purchased from this store. I'm a fan of Patagonia outerwear because it's very functional, durable, and well made with high quality materials.
The store is clean and nicely laid out. It easily contains the most Patagonia merchandise you'll find in one place in the Southeast. Along with jackets, they carry vests, pullovers, shirts, T-shirts, sweatshirts, pants, shorts, underwear, hats, socks, shoes, and various outdoor and sporting accessories. They have wetsuits and specialized apparel for sports and activities such as yoga, rock climbing, skiing, snowboarding, surfing, fishing, and running. They also have travel gear such as backpacks and duffel bags.
The biggest advantage to having a brick-and-mortar Patagonia store is having the ability to walk in and try on a wide assortment of the brand's sometimes-hard-to-find clothing. That's how I ended up with my Shelled Synchilla Jacket after eying it online and then coming to the store to try it on in person. Synchilla, presumably a play on the word synthethic and the animal chinchilla, is Patagonia's registered trademark name for their version of fleece. I'm not sure it needs its own name, but you can feel a noticeable difference in Patagonia's fleece and run-of-the-mill fleece. It's softer and lighter, yet provides better insulation.
The Shelled Synchilla Jacket is a bomber style jacket. I like its somewhat retro 80s ski jacket look with elastic bands around the waist and wrists. It's a terrific, practical, casual, everyday wear jacket for when temperatures are in the 40s or below. It has zip-up pockets on the outside and an additional zip-up pocket on the inside (left side). The exterior is made of water-resistant and quick-drying nylon, while the interior is lined with the velvety fleece material. I've been very pleased with the jacket.
The store carried the jacket in several different sizes and colors. I originally purchased the jacket in hunter green, but returned to the store less than a week later to exchange for a black one. The exchange was quick and easy.
I purchased a Synchilla Fleece Pullover and a Torrentshell Jacket online. Excluding shipping costs, the prices on Patagonia's web site are the same as in-store. The Synchilla Fleece Pullover has been great for cooler temps (40s-50s). It's thick (probably more than I'd like), but surprisingly breathable.
The Torrentshell Jacket is impressive. As its name implies, the Torrentshell Jacket is meant to be used as the outermost layer on top of whatever else you might be wearing. When it's extremely cold and/or rainy or snowy out, I've worn the Torrentshell Jacket over my Synchilla Fleece Pullover. The hooded jacket provides incredible, maximum protection from the elements such as freezing winds, rain, sleet, snow, etc. I like how the jacket zips more than halfway up my face, above my nose, which is convenient for more extreme conditions. This is also the jacket I've used when I've gone skiing. It has zippers underneath each armpit for ventilation.
Patagonia's men's jackets can range anywhere from $150-400 each. I think the jackets are worth the price because of how solidly built they are and how long they last.
Service is fine. The parking lot is small, but I've never had problems finding a spot. The store is safe with a law enforcement/security presence.
