Had a lovely first visit to Patara for a casual lunch. It’s a cozy Thai restaurant with a warm ambiance and very friendly, attentive service. We ordered the green curry with chicken, ox tongue panang, sea bass, water spinach, riceberry, and fried rice, plus a coconut-based dessert and a couple of Chang beers.
The food was authentic and absolutely delicious—especially the ox tongue and green curry. Presentation was clean and appealing. That said, the spice level was milder than expected (especially for the green curry), and portion sizes were quite small given the price point. The sea bass in particular was tasty but very small for £23, which felt like a mark-up for the location more than the quality or portion.
Still, everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The restaurant was spotless, and although we didn’t get to enjoy the outdoor area due to the weather, it looked like a lovely space.
Overall, I’d recommend Patara to anyone looking for quality Thai food in a nice setting—just be prepared for higher prices and modest portions.
