"Though Honolulu is warm, our soup game is strong. If you need proof, just visit Pate—yes, they have beef phở, but they specialize in southern Vietnamese hu tieu. Customize your bowl with toppings, type of noodles, and whether you want it dry or in soup. Our favorite order maximizes all the combinations: half thin rice noodle, half egg noodle topped with a combination of seafood and pork, and broth on the side. Also on the menu: a hearty bun bo hue, stocked with beef shank, pork hock, and pork blood, and a fantastically strong Vietnamese coffee. Just know it’s a tiny spot, so if you arrive at peak dinner hours or on a cold (for Honolulu) night, you’ll have to wait for one of the five tables." - Martha Cheng

Google
Really nice Vietnamese food. Ofc a bit different from the one in Vietnam but overall for American standards not bad at all. We came there accidentally around 10:30PM as it was one of a very few restaurants open at that time. I really appreciate this initiative that on Fridays and Saturdays they are closing 11:30PM. The restaurant was full. Generally I can really recommend this place.

Google
Best Vietnamese food I've ever had. The service was so friendly! This place is just straight out awesome!!

Google
lot to like about this hole-in-da-wall size 5 table place. it’s neat n clean, food is great, and it’s also one of the most reasonably priced meals on the island. hawaii is bit warm so pho doesn’t call me often, i opt for the buun, loads of aromatic veggies plus two toppings of choice, i got beef+fried roll. pro tip, always get the fried roll along with protein of choice, then pour in the dipping sauce plus dab of sriracha and hoisin sauce. mix all in the bowl. will change your life. it was a bit festive inside with all the viet aunties dining joyfully, i love that actually, its not a tourist trap! if your food takes a bit longer to arrive, just relax, they get super slammed by all the togo orders from the gigantic condo next door. my new goto place!

Google
I was majorly struggling today with pregnancy nausea, migraine, and not having much of an appetite. This place saved my life with their delicious pho! 🥰😄 I ordered pho and spring rolls and was able to eat again - the broth was SO flavorful and nourishing, the chicken was tender, and the add-ins were fresh, the spring rolls were crispy and delicious. I am feeling much better now after eating this nourishing soup and am so happy that I ordered from here. Thank you! 🙏

Google
I may have found a new favorite. This Vietnamese restaurant specializes in Hu Tieu-style pho. The noodles and other condiments are served in a bowl and the broth is on the side. Great flavors overall. All are fresh and of high quality. This is a small restaurant, always busy so be prepared to wait. I say it's worth the wait.

Google
I adore hidden gem eateries because they usually serve delicious food. Last night, I was craving Pho, and I stumbled upon the first one that was still open. Finding parking in the area was a challenge; it's always bustling. The restaurant was bustling too, and we had to wait for approximately 10 minutes. The Pho broth was outstanding, and I always try it before adding Sriracha and chili oil. The portion size was generous, and the service was both quick and attentive. I will definitely come back.

Google
This is probably my new favorite place for a seafood phõ as it is so flavorful. Also my kid said their bahn mi is the best yet. This place is tucked away across Walmart on Keeaumoku. It gets busy and has limited dining times. We were very fortunate to be the last on the list and they waited to serve us despite the restaurant closing. This place is small and quaint- eat and leave so others can enjoy too! We will definitely be returning.

Google
Absolute hidden gem of a restaurant a bit difficult to get to since the street is always busy and the parking lot is small (remember to get your ticket validated when you go to a store in this plaza). The food is some of the best I've had on the island period and at a reasonable price to, especially for Honolulu standards. I got the Dry Roasted Pork Egg Noodle and it was amazing. My friends got the Pate Special Rice Plate and Special Banh Mi and those looked good to. The Rice plate had literally everything on it and my friend said everything on it was good. Would recommend this to anyone coming here local, visitor, or otherwise.

Yelp
I've been to Patê twice and both were great experiences. Although the establishment is small, feels almost homey and it's bustling with business the times I've visited. Both times, we had to wait for a short while, about 10-20 minutes. The service is fairly quick and attentive. The first time we ordered the spicy beef noodle and the egg noodle with roasted pork dried style, I remembered that both my partner and I enjoyed our dishes. This time we visited, we ordered the roasted pork rice plate and spicy beef noodle again. - Spicy Beef Noodle: So flavorful and satisfying. Perfect dish to switch it up with if you've always just went with pho. It's not too spicy but has a perfect flavorful kick. The meat pickings within are super unique and just *chefs kiss*. - Roast Pork Rice Plate: My partner really enjoyed the broth that the dish came with. The sauce for the plate is also very flavorful and a necessity for the dish to come together. My only complaint is the small portion of the pork, which is a bit unfulfilling for most folks. Will come again, especially as they are open "late" on Friday and Saturdays.

Yelp
Forgot to take pictures... But this was the perfect spot for a quick and easy, delicious dinner. Service was good and it's a very tiny hole in the wall restaurant. The pho, hu tieu, and gio cuon was delicious! Definitely will be coming again!

Yelp
Always hits the spot with this place!!! Of course, considering the location, parking is extremely difficult at certain times of the day, but I swear this has to be THE BEST pho I've ever had on the island. They typically have a wait during lunch and dinner hours, but it's for sure worth the wait. I had to order their oxtail pho again because I was craving it so bad, but I can't wait to try other dishes here. The owner is soooo nice and cute, as well -- always greeting us with a big smile :) Please help out this small business!

Lorene P.

Yelp
Back again!! Dry noodle with pork on repeat, fish sauce chicken wings, Beef Pho, and Oxtail Pho. We also took a Spring Roll Vermicelli to go! We had to wait approximately 20 minutes but it was worth the wait. The table turnover is fairly quick. Again friendly service!

Ann N.

Yelp
all my reviews still stand. They have updated the menu with a slight price increase. They have added a vegetarian bahn mi!

Lyn L.

Yelp
11/07/24 Yes, I'm back... this time with a friend. I decided to try the dry noodle because the server said it's the most popular dish. I had the roast pork dry noodle ... Ummm, I found it to be too garlicky for my taste. I'll go back to my tried and true seafood pho. 11/05/24 I'm baaack for the seafood pho. Delicious and plentiful! Broth is rich and flavorful...this time the server suggested 2 different noodles, egg and glass. I really enjoyed it and bright hone the rest for later.

Aileen O.

Yelp
Amazing flavor. Large amounts! And the garlic side is so good! I heard they make it in house. Highly recommend. The only place I go to.

Jenna E.

Yelp
I love Pate...and it tastes even better in "cold" rainy weather! I've been twice so far and both of my experiences were consistent. I love ordering the Hu Tieu with glass noodles and char siu. Pate is one of the few Vietnamese restaurants on the island (that I know of) that offers dry style noodles soups and char siu as a protein. Ive tried both the dry style and broth style versions of the dish, and they're both very good. The noodles are always perfectly cooked and the broth is always piping hot, served alongside fresh veggies. If it's your first time, the workers can help you order or recommend dishes. Pate is a must try Vietnamese restaurant if you've never been!

Cynthia I.

Yelp
I like the sautéed noodles with choice of meat. You can pick up to two types of noodles. I chose the thin pho noodle and the egg noodle. I'm Vietnamese. Yet admittedly, I've never tried sautéed pho noodle before. But I gotta say, I LOVE IT! Even though they give two choices of noodles next time I'm going for double pho noodle. Chewy, bouncy and absorbs the sweet and savory oyster sauce nicely. You can order it wet (with broth) or dry style (sautéed). I got sauteed and I would recommend! The pork belly (thit heo) was very crispy. I added pickled garlic, chili oil, and all the vegetable accoutrements to mine. Be forewarned, pickled garlic can give some people diabolical gas, but ya know what? WORTH IT lol My son ordered the pho tai. I tried a spoon of his broth and it had lots of flavor, strong on the cloves. They use plenty of bones in their broth. I approve. This place is definitely a hole in the wall but clean. They played Vietnamese R&B/rap which is a nice change from the sad post-war ballads that most Viet restaurants play. They are closed on Wednesdays. They validate parking. If it's full, park at Walmart and cross the street. The servers were friendly and willing to answer questions. I really wanted to try the signature house pate but my son and husband don't eat pate so I didn't order this time cuz I can't eat four pieces myself. I will be definitely be returning with friends who have an acquired taste for pate.

Yelp
Located near Ala Moana in a small spot close to Kickin Kajun, Pate is a clean Vietnamese restaurant. The parking lot in front of Pate has some spots and we only had to pay $1 to park there. I could see it filling up though with the other restaurants around Pate. The service was quick and the menu had a decent amount of options without being overwhelming. I decided to order the dry egg noodles with beef balls. These were some of the best noodles I have ever had. They were super tasty and the portion was enough to where I had to take the rest home. This felt like a great find and I hope to be back again soon to have some more of the dry egg noodles!

Kristen S.

Yelp
My parents have been raving about this hole in the wall Vietnamese spot for months and I finally got to enjoy the hype! The restaurant is quite small--5 tables max that can only seat about 2-4 people. But the service is efficient and food absolutely delicious! We ordered the combination pho, grilled pork vermicelli, dry won ton and egg noodles with seafood, spring rolls and bahn mi pate. Sounds like a ton of food, but somehow, 3 of us finished it all! Every bite was flavorful and perfectly cooked and we cannot wait to come back again to try the rest of the menu!

StaciLei T.

Yelp
Looking for a comforting bowl of pho after a beach day-- turned into coming back the very next day to pick up sandwiches. This local hole-in-the-wall spot is really that good. Pro tip: Don't forget to get your parking validated here! Small private paid lot, but there are a few popular establishments -- so parking can get tight. Honestly, from the moment we walked in -- we just knew the food was going to be good. You can just tell, the ambiance just gave off - very authentic. For appetizers we got the banh mi pate, which is a pate spread on top of sliced baguette and some fresh cilantro on top! This was so good yet so simple, I later recreated this dish and brought it to a party! I got the combo pho, my boyfriend got their dried noodles, and my friend got their pho but switched out the rice noodles for glass noodles. All the food was so flavorful and paired with tons of fresh vegetables + herbs. What really makes this a 5 star spot in my books are the homemade sauces! The homemade chili oil and sate is top notch and they even have sliced pickled garlic. Me and my friend are GARLIC GIRLS, so we were obsessed. Everything was so good that we ordered their special bahn mi, lemongrass chicken, and garlic beef bahn mi's the next day. I love this little family-owned spot and can't wait to come back again!

Yelp
Finally I'm here... Gosh I really wished I can remember who insisted me dining here which I had full intention to do so earlier I had yet found a partner that haven't been here...mom lol! She was craving Pho and really wanted that and though that this would be the best place which is easier said than done. The stars aligned perfectly as the parking lot at Samsung Plaza was full and was told to drive in and turn to leave since there was a car behind me only to have found a disable stall available and took it immediately and checked with the attendant which said it was okay...woohoo! Walking in to Patê which is super tiny with only five tables and we luckily snagged the last table without any wait...woohooo!!! We're both super thrilled and hungry apparently that she insisted on spring rolls which we did as it was three pork filled pieces plated beautifully with cucumbers, vermicelli noodles and lettuce it was cooked perfectly crispy and is the indication that we were hungry as we demolished it all. I remember that I was told to order the noodle...easy step order which was "Egg Noodle" with "Roasted Pork" and "Dried Style" and is served with complimentary soup (pork) on the side. I was surprised as a tray with sprouts, lettuce and jalapeños came and was unsure how to enjoy it all, I just tossed most of it in and enjoyed it with the shoyu sauce it was in and gave it a toss. The roasted pork was delicious the crispy skin was a delightful bite and see why many come here regardless of the wait. Mom did get her pho and was in heaven, the soup and toppings is the classic comfort food and was in complete bliss. On each table there is a note for credit card fee of 3% surcharge so cash or debit is recommended which is what we did but the service was so fast and efficient and the vibe is so chill, and yes they do validate parking which was very nice for a "pho"tastic night. Thank you!

Yelp
My Vietnamese coffee was mostly ice and barely had any coffee, but it still tasted pretty good. I also ordered their Chicken Pho & Summer Rolls, which I enjoyed very much. It did take a while for me to get my check. Seating is very limited because the restaurant is pretty small.

Vicky L.

Yelp
Good service, very small and cozy interior. I once ordered a banh mi to go a while back, it wasn't to my taste. But recently I went to eat bun Bo hue. The broth was lacking depth. Very disappointing. Beef was chewy too.

Kristi D.

Yelp
Was on my way to book club with a Vietnamese theme. Our usual, Ba-Le, was closed, so I looked for somewhere not far from where I was and found Patê! I called in my order and drove on down. This place is very cute! Located next to Ross on Keeaumoku in the Samsung Plaza. Paid parking available; limited amount of street parking available too. I got 3 vermicelli plates to share - 2 with spring rolls and 1 with lemongrass chicken. Perfect amount of food to share among 7 people with other food to share. Good, solid quality food. There were a lot of other dishes to try, so I'm sure I'll be back! Staff members were very nice and patient. Seating is limited. ASB members, be aware that if you're trying to take advantage of the $10 off $45 you have to tell them before you pay. But what a steal!

Angel H.

Yelp
This place is at the Samsung Plaza. It's a hole in the wall type of joint, but the food is fantastic. There's only about five tables on the inside, so there was a little wait. We ordered the Fish Sauce Chicken Wings $10, Oxtail Pho $23 and Chicken Pho $14. The chicken wings were yummy. It's like nothing that I've ever tasted before. It had that fish sauce taste, but it was sweet. The wings were fried and drenched with the sauce. My oxtail pho had a clean broth that wasn't overly salty. It came with two big pieces of oxtail and two small pieces. I didn't taste the chicken pho, but the hubby had no complaints. If you spend at least $45 and use your American Savings Bank debit card they'll give you $10 off. I think the promo runs until the ending of the year. I'm not too sure, so check with the server.

Julie N.

Yelp
We noticed they had new menus and compared prices from last time. There's a slight price increase. Service is always good and food also.

Ada Z.

Yelp
First, let's comment on the parking lot. We got a parking ticket that was later validated by the restaurant. But most of the spots felt like compact spaces, and the lot was full during the weekend for lunch. They did not have a restroom inside, but had this shared restroom building with the other restaurants and businesses in the plaza, but it was badly maintained and smelled awful. The restaurant was small, so we had to wait a little bit to get seated. Service was friendly, but some dishes were better than others. Oxtail pho: the broth was very light, so some may feel like it's bland. The meat was soft though, 3/5. Pate's Special Rice Plate: I liked that the egg rolls were nice and crispy. Meat and egg loaf was just okay. Not the best I've ever had, 3/5. Vermicelli with egg rolls: I personally did not try this, but my mom really enjoyed it. She said the egg rolls were crunchy and the dish was good overall, 5/5. I found prices a bit pricier than I'm used to for the portions, compared to So-cal. But I don't know if Vietnamese food is just pricier in Hawaii in general. Food overall was okay. Rating is probably closer to 3.5/5, but I rounded up because service was quick and efficient.

Marissa K.

Yelp
I went back today to order their pho and Viet iced coffee. Their pho is yummy! Loved their broth and noodles! Everything here is legit good!

Russ L.

Yelp
This Vietnamese restaurant is known for its dry-style pho. The noodles and other components are served in a separate bowl and the broth is on the side for dipping. The flavor is deep, and authentic taste. Fresh ingredients and high quality. I may have found a new favorite. Be warned that the place is very small with about five tables. Be prepared to wait and just eat and go so others can sit down.

Carolyn D.

Yelp
Its hard to come by good Vietnamese food in Hawaii given the relatively small Viet population but this one definitely hits the spot. The combination pho broth was rich, herby, and clean and the hu tieu had nice and fresh toppings. The pate appetizer was also chefs kiss and such a unique thing on the menu, the place is named pate so you can trust their pate to be good!

Shawna U.

Yelp
Tiny little spot off of Ke`eaumoku! Not much seating but the food is delicious. Very friendly staff. Parking is tight but they validate or street parking. Only tried the pho and spring rolls and they were amazing. Pho for less than $20 is hard to find now and there's is 14.50 for 1 meat pho. Clean broth and oh so many sauces to choose from. Clean and delicious. I would definitely recommend! Oh the black coffee was also amazing!

Lily T.

Yelp
Was in the mood for some Vietnamese food and decided to check out Pate! The parking was easy and they validated! We got the vermicelli with lemongrass chicken and garlic beef and the dry noodles with egg noodles and wontons. We also got the pate appetizer to start. The noodles were cooked perfectly and everything tasted really fresh! I enjoyed the broth that it came with and all the fresh veggies. The pate appetizer was good too and my coworker really liked their dish as well. The service was really attentive and food came out quick. It's a small restaurant with only a few tables so it fills up quickly. It seems like they do a lot of takeout orders as well and they have a lot of options on their menu for everyone! I'll definitely be back again!

Sydni K.

Yelp
My friends and I came here on a Friday night, and luckily we were able to get a seat. I think there's only four tables inside, so people were getting turned away later in the night. They still have takeout though! I got the brisket pho. The noodles were a good texture and the broth was flavorful, but honestly the brisket was a bit dry. I wish I had an ASB debit card because they had some specials when we went. I was always worried about the parking in this lot, but my friend got a ticket from the attendant and was able to find parking. I'm not sure what their rates are, but we didn't have to pay. It was either because it was validated or because we were there for less than an hour and a half. I've heard great things about this place, and would be willing to come back to give it another shot.

Suri S.

Yelp
Get your Viet fix here! The space is very cozy, it felt like eating at your aunty/uncles home. They only have about 4-5 tables inside so there will be an inevitable wait. Worth the wait though! The staff is friendly and nice. I used to live in Little Saigon in OC so I've had my fair share of Vietnamese food. I haven't really been impressed with the Vietnamese food scene in Hawaii, and so far this place gets my stamp of approval! Small shop located inside Samsung plaza. They validate parking too. Tight parking spots though. Shared bathroom outside with other establishments, I'd recommend holding it or somewhere else as it was not as pleasant. The food: LOVE! Big and hearty portions. +Pate Appetizer - delicious house made pate. The bread was very soft inside and crunchy in the outside. Good amount of pate too. 5/5 +Dried Style Noodle dish with Char Sui or Roast Pork with soup. This was probably the favorite item of the night. Whatever the sauce they use is addicting! 5/5 Roast Pork is my favorite!! +Vermicelli combo with spring roll and lemongrass chicken! Spring roll was crunchy and delicious. Love the tender lemongrass chicken. I also would have liked more nuoc cham with my bowl. Love all the veggies that comes inside the bowl. Even took leftovers home. 4/5 +Lemongrass Banh Mi - I'm picky about the bread and toppings but the lemongrass chicken flavor was very yummy. overall 4/5. We can't wait to return again!

Lisa N.

Yelp
A hidden gem. This place deserves all the love! I first heard about this place while scrolling on a foodie's page. Since I was in the area, I decided to check it out for my last meal in Hawaii! It's located in a small strip plaza (not too far from Al Moana Center). Parking can be kinda tight. Luckily, I walked here so I didn't have to deal with that. Upon entry, I was able to snag the last table of 5! Yes, only 5 tables inside this tiny restaurant. Service was super fast and staff were so welcoming. I felt like I was home or at a family's house. Menu is easy to read and understand. I got the Hu tieu egg noodles with roasted pork and extra wontons. The broth had bits of garlic and paired well with the noodles. Generous portions and such a satisfying meal. 5/5 would recommend!!

Steve S.

Yelp
A small, cozy place for high quality and fresh Vietnamese food. Easily walkable in town. Friendly owner and staff. Generous refills of water and plenty of toppings, spices and sauces at the table to customize the dish to your liking. Nice to see both dry and wet noodle options. Banh mi was flavorful with lots of lemongrass. One of the better banh mi I have had in island. Fresh ingredients and good flavor. Bread could be a bit crisper but just personal preference. Places holds seating for approximately 1 dozen people only. If you pay cash you get a 2 or 3% discount. Parking in shared lot is thru app on phone via qr code from 10pm to 8am. Otherewisw there is a parking attendant during the day. Restrooms are shared with other nearby businesses in the strip.

Risa S.

Yelp
One of the best places with bun bo hue!! I love the flavor of their broth. Their pho broth is good. They also have dry style noodles, which was cool. Their bahn mi is okay, bread could be better but their pate is so good!! Very homey restaurant in Samsung plaza. The family that runs the restaurant is very kind.

Christina Q.

Yelp
Cute, clean hole in the wall vibes with tasty food and friendly staff! As a Bay Area native surrounded by lots of Vietnamese food, I have to say this is one of the best Vietnamese places I've had! We ordered the dry noodles with roasted pork and the vermicelli with lemongrass chicken and egg rolls. The lady taking our order suggested half egg noodles, half rice noodles for our dry noodle and WHAT A COMBINATION. The rice noodles were a bit chewy and the egg noodles were great at absorbing flavor which made them a perfect combination mixed together. The vermicelli was a nice addition to the dry noodles -- it offered a fresh change of palette from the garlic flavors. I especially loved the flavor of the lemongrass chicken and the sweet fish sauce used for the vermicelli. So refreshing, felt like a breath of fresh air. Portions are HEFTY. The two bowls we ordered can feed around 3-4 people. It doesn't look like much in the photos but my friend and I stared in shock when the first bowl of noodles was served. With a total of $35, the price is well worth it for the quality, taste, and portion size. Also sweetest people here! We were greeted by big smiles; the man working refilled our waters and asked if we need parking validation at the end of our meal. Ended the night with another bright smile from him after he asked if we needed bags for our leftovers containers. Small gestures that made a big difference in customer service and our ultimate experience here. A++ for everything!! Please give this place a try :))

Quito O.

Yelp
First noticed this place when walking down keeaumoku with my wife and we saw a huge line of people. Came back a few days later when there was no line. Got seated right away in this little shop that has maybe 4-5 tables max inside. Staff was super nice and friendly and explained that business had been blowing up recently because of someone's review on Instagram or whatever. I ordered the combo pho and my wife got some summer rolls as she wasn't too hungry. Everything was delicious. The soup for the pho had excellent flavor and came with all the usual vegetable accoutrements. The summer rolls were super fresh and the peanut sauce that came with it was very tasty. Would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a good bowl of pho. Definitely need to come back and try out the rest of the stuff on the menu.

Sherene H.

Yelp
Crispy spring rolls and hits the spot pho. This new pho place is tiny with about 5 tables. I ordered take out spring rolls and combination pho with tendon and meat balls. Their chili oil is tasty and adds a nice flavor to the broth. There wasn't much Basil given with the pho but it was enough. Spring rolls were flavorful and crunchy! Service was friendly and my order was ready in about 20 minutes. I'm curious to try their spicy beef noodle soup next time.

Khanh N.

Yelp
Best Vietnamese I've had on the island please come and support real Authentic Vietnamese food not that hipster restaurant selling fake Vietnamese food.

Kelly D.

Yelp
Super nice people and you can tell that he genuinely loves what he does; it really warms my heart. It's a super small place and the AC isn't as strong as we would like (my dad had to step outside) so dress lightly especially if you're getting the soups. When you eat with me and it's a new place, ya girl just wants to try everything....thank god my family was on board hehe We ordered Pho w/ Steak, Dry Style Egg Noodles & Glass Noodles Combination, Bun Bo Hue, and the Combination Banh Mi. First off, the portions are GINORMOUS. It was a struggle to finish everything; I eventually had to tap out and take home my leftovers. We all had similar opinions when we tried each other's dish. The Dry Style Egg Noodles & Glass Noodles Combination was on the saltier side for us but thank goodness they serve Tra Da which is Vietnamese Iced Tea (bomb dot com btw) Overall, they weren't bad but it did feel like something was missing from each dish. Note that we do have high expectations when it comes to Vietnamese food, especially my parents who immigrated from there. I do hope they continue to flourish and expand because I know a lot of people love it here

Ken K.

Yelp
Best pho I have had on island, hands down. We have visited this location before and opted to Uber Eats it this time. We had the rare steak pho and a rice/egg dry combination noodle bowl. Both were awesome but the pho was our favorite. The broth was not too heavy, but still flavorful and it had all the standard garnishes which weren't cosmic. The appearance of the noodle bowl was better than the pho, but didnt quite blow us away like the pho. It came with a garlic broth on the side... and it was far too garlicky for us. However, protein portions in this bowl were generous though the price reflected it ($23.50). I wouldn't say this place is necessarily a value "steal", but the quality is worth the price you pay. For pickup, service was fast and friendly and ready within 20 minutes of ordering. If ever feeling Vietnamese again, I think the price of this location can be justified with some in-app credits to supplement. Give this place a try! Especially if you can visit in person, I'd suggest that over takeout order.

Casey H.

Yelp
Decent pho with a flavorful broth and a really diverse noodle plate. The noodle plate was a bit pricey at $23.50 but was very worth it! It came with various assortment of proteins and the egg noodles were extremely good. If I try this one again, I'd give the glass noodles a try as the rice noodles were nothing revolutionary. The noodle dish also came with a garlic broth that some might enjoy, though its a bit heavy. The pho was also really good, particularly the broth. Overall, this is a small unassuming spot. Fast and friendly service in an intimate setting! Parking looks like a nightmare, but if you're in the area already (Walmart/Ala Moana shopping maybe?) and feeling Vietnamese I'd highly suggest this spot!

Anne L.

Yelp
I think I might have found my favorite pho place. This is located in the Samsung Plaza. Parking can be a hit or miss, so do recommend either finding street parking or parking at Ala Moana/Walmart. It's a really small restaurant so expect a long wait during peak hours. The first time I came with my boyfriend, we waited almost an hour to get seated, and the second time we decided to do take out. Service is great though, they do try their best to get to every table. So if you are waiting long to be seated, best to know what to order so you can put in the order once you're seated. Now on to the food, the pho broth comes out piping hot and clean. Portion sizes are perfect! I was full at the end of the meal! I do want to try their dry noodles since I've seen a lot of people talk about it. So if you are looking for a place to get some noodles/broth in, I recommend Pate Vietnamese Cuisine. Try come early or expect a wait :)

Yelp
A cute shop located inside of Samsung Plaza on Ke'eaumoku Street. Parking is a few bucks inside the plaza or try your luck at street parking. Went there for lunch on a weekday and there was a steady flow of workers dining in and taking out. The food came out in a timely manner and everything was delicious! Great homestyle good feelings type of food here!

Yelp
We found this place on TikTok so we're very excited to try. The parking was a bit small space and hard to find but we got lucky. Small restaurant with 5 tables. Order dry noodle (egg noodle and half wontons) with cha shu pork and extra crispy pork. Comes with soup on a side. It was good and a little bit of sweet. Friendly service!

Yelp
My family arrived from California and the first place they wanted to eat was Pate. Restaurant was very friendly and efficient having only 6 tables. Server took our order outside before we were even seated. Ordered 3 combination hu tieu and one summer roll. Summer roll was fresh, with pork, shrimp and rolled perfectly. Dipping sauce was creamy with a great taste. Hu tieu arrived piping hot with soup on the side. Noodle was soft and tender, topped with generous potion of meat , flavored with the a special sauce. The first bite was just pure satisfaction. One of my favorite place because the food is very consistent, always delicious!

Yelp
Parking: Samsung Plaza, do not park at Azure to save a couple of dollars...they will tow you...especially at night. Service: it's a small place so they are quick to take your order...but depending on their takeout orders the food can take a little while. Drinks: I only had water here but I tried my friends Vietnamese coffee and found it pretty sweet, but that's normal I guess. Food: Lemongrass chicken vermicelli- it's really good and I usually end up taking half of it home! Portions are pretty large. Garlic beef- very flavorful with garlic! I love it! Spring roll- pretty basic and not worth the price in my opinion. But still tasty. Dry noodle: honestly...pretty blown away with how good this is...you'll see most of the Vietnamese people in here eating the dry noodle. The pork is perfectly cooked as well. Overall: best Vietnamese place in the area, hands down! Try the dry noodle, you can customize to whatever noodle you like and you can also do half and half with two different types of noodle!

Yelp
10/10 definitely a Vietnamese spot I will be thinking about and craving when I leave Hawaii. The egg noodles are to die for, that flavor is so comforting and addicting. We also got the two item pho with steak and brisket and the broth, without sauce or anything, was mouthwatering. Such a comforting meal I highly suggest!

Yelp
It is a small restaurant but with much to give in pho portions! The broth is flavorful and the meatball includes tendon (yum)! The rare steak meat was still frozen with our takeout and took time to "cook." Parking is tight in the lot, but if you're doing takeout, they give a 20 minute grace period.

Yelp
Tried out this place after seeing a Tiktok about it and their dried noodles. The place is quite small so depending on what time you go you might have a wait to get in. We went right about when they opened and we're able to be seated right away but by the time we got our food there was a waitlist. There's a parking lot with some parking that didn't seem full when we got there but we just parked at Target in the mall and walked over for easier getting in and out of. The spring rolls weren't anything crazy new but they were still delicious. I always appreciate places who provide lettuce to wrap them in as well. The dry noodles were probably the highlight of the trip. The flavor reminded me of Indomie's Mi goreng instant noodles but with higher quality noodles. My only complaint is that the broth on the side I would have to say wasn't super flavorful. However, the roasted pork was fantastic. Juicy but with a nice crispy, bubbly skin! I didn't try the butter garlic wings myself but my partner said he liked them but they were a little too saucy for his liking. Overall, we'll definitely be back especially for the dry noodles and roasted pork!

Yelp
Saw a video on Instagram so I had to try this place! I was intrigued by the roast pork dry noodles. It is located in Samsung plaza across Walmart. They have a parking lot and the restaurant validates - free for the first 15 minutes if you're just taking out. We tried the roast pork dry noodles with egg noodles and rice noodles as recommended by the server. Also got an order of spring rolls to share. Luckily we did not have to wait for a table, but the restaurant is small and you may have to wait if it's really busy. If you are doing takeout, I would recommend phone ordering as they take a while to prepare the food. The spring rolls came out piping hot - fresh out of the fryer. It came with a generous serving of veggies. We loved how they also have a variety of homemade chili oils, sauces, and even a delicious pickled garlic to top off your food! The highlight was the roast pork noodles which comes with a side dipping/sipping broth & fresh herbs and veggies. The serving is huge and I think the price is justified at $17. It comes with a good amount of pork and big serving of noodles that are flavored with some kind of sauce. They serve it with bean sprouts, chives, jalapeno, lime, and cut lettuce. I've never had this type of dish before and I was so happy with the choice! I love how unique it is - we usually only have pho places so it is nice to see a different type of Vietnamese dish come to Hawaii. I would 1000% order this again!

Yelp
TL;DR Garlic Butter Chicken Wings = ONO Spring Rolls = ONO Bun Bo Hue = ONO Dried Noodles = ONO This place is awesome and deserves its 4.5 star rating. ----- My wife went here for the first time a couple weeks ago with a group of friends and came back raving about just about everything they ordered. She demanded a return visit ASAP. Separately, I've been wanting to try bun bo hue for a while now as I continue to explore Vietnamese cuisine beyond my love for banh mi and the occasional bowl of pho. So we were both really excited when we arrived and there was no wait and a large table to accommodate our party of three. If you've ever been near Samsung Plaza then you know the parking is rough. Additionally, this place is tiny, with seating for about 16 total at one time, so there's a good chance you'll have to wait to be seated. But dealing with these challenges is worth it. The spring rolls were incredible, and the garlic butter chicken wings were packed with garlic and buttery goodness. Mmmmmmm. I would recommend ordering both if you have the appetite. And make sure to take advantage of all the wonderful and complimentary condiments they offer! I am in no way qualified to evaluate the diverse and complex flavors associated with Vietnamese cuisine, so I will just say that the bun bo hue was flavorful and the portion size was plentiful. I was particularly impressed with the variety and abundance of meats included. My wife ordered the seafoood dried noodles, and they were ridiculously delicious. When we return I'll probably order the roasted pork version. Lastly, the people running this restaurant were incredibly friendly and managed the queue very efficiently. We never felt rushed in any way, which was awesome.

Yelp
We really like to come here to eat, because the Vietnamese foods here is very delicious, the restaurant is compact size, but the atmosphere is cozy like a family, service is very good, the owner and his daughter at the cashier counter is very cute

Yelp
Patê Vietnamese Cuisine is like a hidden treasure I'm almost reluctant to share - its coziness is both its charm and its challenge. Tucked across from Wal-Mart in Honolulu, this small, likely family-run Vietnamese spot often has a line out the door, a testament to its allure. My ritual here is like a sacred food dance: Egg Noodle, Roasted Pork, Dried Style - a combo that catapults me back to the vibrant streets of Vietnam. It's not just a meal; it's a time machine, awakening forgotten memories with each mouthful. The flavors don't just tantalize the tastebuds; they deliver a nostalgic punch that resonates with every fiber of my being. Yes, it's that phenomenal. Each visit poses the same delicious dilemma: venture into new culinary territories or stick with the tried-and-true bowl that never fails to amaze? And let's not forget about their Vietnamese coffee - it's the kind of slap you want to wake up to. Powerful, aromatic, and unapologetically bold. In short, Patê Vietnamese Cuisine is a must-visit, but maybe let's keep it our little secret, okay?
