Kesar Mangoes Deserve Infatuation | Eater

"This nearby South Asian grocer becomes a seasonal must-visit when kesar mangoes arrive — they were selling cases for about $40 each, kept behind the cash register and in such limited supply that the author felt immediate FOMO and rushed to buy two cases, even carrying them home on the subway. The store’s placement of the mangoes (not on open display but tucked near checkout) and the once-a-year availability make purchases feel urgent and celebratory, turning routine grocery runs into a small ritual for sourcing prized, restaurant-quality fruit." - Jaya Saxena

Huge store with variety of items available. Fresh fruits , vegetables, homemade snacks and chapatis. I love the variety of curries and chapaties they have. The bakery items doesn’t look fresh.

This is a really big Indian grocery store, and I have to say, they do a commendable job when it comes to keeping the place well-stocked and organized. Anyone who visits the store would likely agree with that. However, there are a few areas where they definitely need to improve. I’m listing some of them below in the hope that the management takes a closer look: 1. Cart Management: The staff responsible for bringing the carts back from the parking area to the store lanes need to be more attentive. There have been several instances where carelessness has led to issues, and this kind of negligence can’t be overlooked. 2. Bakery Item Quality: We recently (August 23rd) purchased a Black Forest cake from the store that appeared to be fresh, and the store staff even confirmed it. However, when we got home, it was clear that the cake was not fresh at all. It was hard, and the cream was cracking and falling off- something that typically happens with old cakes. This was disappointing and needs better quality control. 3. Billing Issues: This one is really important. I strongly advise all customers to ALWAYS check their receipts before leaving the store. We’ve been falsely charged for items we didn’t purchase on two separate occasions. While the store did eventually refund us, it took them a long time to verify the mistake and complete the process. This shouldn’t be happening in the first place. 4. Restroom Facilities: The restrooms are far too small considering the number of customers the store accommodates on a regular basis. While I understand this might not be something they can immediately change, it’s definitely something they should evaluate and try to improve. 5. Solicitors at the Entrance: The store seems to allow certain individuals or groups to stand near the entrance and sell books or promote various causes. While I understand the intention might be good, in practice, it’s creating unnecessary distractions. These people often approach every single person entering or exiting the store, and it becomes overwhelming. It’s also a potential safety concern, as it increases the risk of accidents near the entrance area. Overall, this store has a lot going for it and clearly puts in effort to offer a good shopping experience. But addressing these concerns would definitely make a big difference in improving customer satisfaction and safety.

Absolutely love this store! Patel Brothers offers an impressive variety — from fresh, high-quality Indian produce to convenient pre-cut veggies, plus a snack counter that’s a dream for anyone craving authentic Gujarati and North Indian delicacies. The selection is unmatched, and everything feels just like home. Definitely worth the 30-minute drive every time!

It is spacious store with almost all types of Indian items available. Due to crowd, it gets congested inside the store. Cashier counters are also located awkwardly due to space constraints. Pricing was reasonable. It is surprising that there is not a single similar Indian grocery store around this store. Staff was friendly and polite in responding to questions. I would definitely suggest removing both food counters (mini restaurant inside the store). There are two food counter where you can order food. I ordered varieties of Indian fast food items and none of them are good. Those were oily and lacks freshness and flavors. Both need major face lift in terms of quality.

This is easily the busiest Patel Bros I’ve ever been to, but the team keeps everything stocked, organized, and spotless. They move fast, stay friendly, and somehow keep the chaos running smoothly. It’s always packed—especially on weekends—and that alone says how good this store is. Love the snack stalls too, lol.

The place is jam packed with South Asians, always try going here in Weekdays before 4 pm..avoid going here on Fridays and especially on weekends its annoying the way people just block and stand taking their own sweet time selecting the right Vegetable with no regards to other persons time, we just keep pushing each other don't we??..Lolz..but you name it and they have it here, Pretty reasonable rates and good quality stuff. Indians living nearby this place must be blessed.

I heard a lot about this place and finally had the chance to check it out. I was really impressed with it. Excited to try the food court/Patel’s Fresh Kitchen. Place felt very clean and even the carts are being promptly collected. A lot of people recommended me to get Theplas and Chapatis from here. So, we got some of the snacks and groceries from here. The food items we got- Paneer Puff Onion Samosa Paneer Tikka Samosa Khasta Kachori Methi Thepla Coriander Thepla Mix veg Paratha Also, couldn’t resist buying Lays India’s Magic Masala since Dhoni’s pic was on it! 😛
