Patisserie La Cigogne

We ordered our galette des rois early this year. The place looked nice, so we decided to stay for a hot chocolate and a few croissants. The hot chocolate was excellent : thick and rich, made with real chocolate. We tried both the almond croissant and the hazelnut croissant; both were very good. The hazelnut croissant has its own distinct flavor. you can clearly tell it’s not Nutella, but an original recipe. Warm and friendly service.

A cozy and charming bakery café with a very welcoming atmosphere. I had been searching for Galette des Rois at many places and was so happy to finally find it here. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful and told me I could pick it up either on the same day I called or the next morning. It was such a lovely surprise and I was truly impressed by the service.

Patisserie de Cignon has always been our go to place for almond croissants. My husband and I regularly stop in just to pick them up because they truly make the best almond croissants in the city. This morning, my husband took me there for breakfast and we decided to sit down instead of just grabbing pastries. He ordered the chicken crêpe with mushrooms and red peppers, and I ordered the croissant ham sandwich with an added egg. When the food arrived, my croissant was missing the egg and had to be sent back. When it returned, the egg was simply added in. Unfortunately, my husband’s chicken crêpe contained three chicken bones, and the bottom of the crêpe was burnt. We brought this to the waitress’s attention and expressed our disappointment. What truly left us unhappy was how the situation was handled afterward. As we were leaving, we approached the manager to ask if she was aware of what had happened. She said she was, and explained that the positive side of finding bones was that they use real chicken. I found that response dismissive and inappropriate. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of our experience, and no offer to make things right. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, she asked what I wanted her to do. As a customer, I did not feel it was my role to instruct the manager. A simple apology, understanding, and some form of compensation or gesture would have gone a long way. Ideally, the manager should have come to our table once she was informed and addressed the situation directly. That said, their almond croissants remain exceptional. We will absolutely continue to come here to purchase them. However, based on this experience, we will be passing on sit down breakfast in the future.

Updated Review, after receiving such a great experience the first visit, I decided to return for a second one. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING. After waiting 5-10 minutes until the barista was done making 2 iced lattes (no issue there), she came over didn't apologise (To Me) for the wait, I greeted her with a good morning, she grinned. I ordered my $7 Cinnamon bun, left a tip, which earned me a cheerful 'Thank you.' And I sat down at a table. At first I thought it was a cultural difference. HOWEVER, the white older gentlemen behind me, received proper customer service, the 'Good morning, sorry for the wait. ' It is Absolutely rude when customer service is selective with 5 star service. I originally gave this bakery 5 stars. Service is everythong to a customer, especially when you're charging 7$ for a Cinnamon bun. 1st Visit- An absolute gem on the Danforth. It was like I was transported into France. The patio was delightful and the washroom was clean. They have housemade French pastries definitely going to give one a try next time. The staff was pleasant and helpful, thank you to the gentlemanwho served me. .

Danforth location: A good hangout on east end for baked stuff and sweet treats. Its carries standard “bakery & cafe” vibes. Their patio is pretty and nice sit out for the quaint neighbourhood. Baked goods are decent and prices are above average. Biscotti, Savoury croissant, turnovers amd latte were tasty. A good alternate for the american coffe shop opposite to it. It was our second visit recently and was sarisfying

We were very excited for this and it end up on disappointment, what we order online wasn’t what we received, when I sent an email this was the response ; I am sorry your friend did not like the chocolate, the order online bouche was exactly the same cake than you ordered, please take a look from the order on line section. Products in gallery sometimes can be different because it is for reference only, every year we do the cake differently depending on the materials we have, we may not always get the same decors each time. Never again!

They definitely seemed quite busy and were sure to check in to see if I needed anything while I was looking at all their delicious looking treats. I ended up getting an almond croissant, and it was delicious! Most almond croissants seem to lose their flaky layers once the almond paste is put in or on top, but theirs maintained its crispiness and flaky layers somehow! It was also still very buttery and rich like you'd expect from a croissant. So good!!! Definitely on the pricier side for my budget, but it is definitely a worthy treat on those special occasions for me!

Institutional neighbourhood bakery with all sorts of treats, cakes and breads. Can see why this place has such a loyal following: their stuff is pretty and caters to all types of sweet teeth. Been here a couple of times and enjoyed. My most recent visit, we got the cream brioche and mont blanc. Brioche was a tad dry and would have liked more filling. Mont blanc was smooth and creamy and tarty all at the same time. Good amount of seating area. Prices are on the higher side but not unreasonable. Service is efficient. A good stop if you want some treats!

So I've loved their location for a long time. Amazing pastries, baguettes, and the service has always been friendly and quick. But the inside? It was gloomy. Dark. Worn down. I just wanted to get takeout andjleave. But they've gone through a whole renovation, and now the place is bright, open, airy. It's a total 180 in terms of the vibe, as you kids say. A picture is worth a thousand words! The tables and chairs are very modern and comfortable looking, but I didn't take any photos because there were people sitting at them, and I'm no TikTok influencer.

My first visit here and I loved my breakfast crepe! Chicken mushroom roasted red pepper and cheddar crepes with salad and raspberry vinaigrette was so delicious! I savoured every bite! The brewed coffee was so good too. Free refills and you fill yourself. I didn't know that so I sat at my table for long time with the empty cup they gave me at front desk. They should tell people it's self serve. Initially they came to our table with menus so I thought they'd bring coffee to table. Nope. Lots of tables to sit at and it was nice and quiet atmosphere. They have outside sitting too. It's a short walk from Coxwell subway station. Lots of beautiful cakes and pastries on display too. I'm definitely coming back for the crepes again and other dishes on the menu.

Quaint paterissie on the Danforth that serves, macarons, patisseries, desserts and sandwiches. The service is usually a little slow for North American standards but to be fair the place is normally pretty busy so expect to be in line for at least 5 min. The macarons are all really great. The desserts I've had (around $10 each) were delicious - can feed two. My only complaint is the chocolate croissants only have one line of chocolate down the center as opposed to spread throughout the middle or drizzled on top.

We happened by this place after lunch on a Sunday afternoon and we are so glad we walked in! Their pastries and drinks are amazing! I had the almond croissant and it was one of the best I have had- perfect amount of crisp and softness and with really good almond stuffing in the middle. We also had the peach pastry, coconut icecream on brownie and chocolate mousse- these were all equally delicious! We will definitely be making this a regular spot!

This is still our favorite place to go to for almond croissants in the city. Candidly I don't think anybody does it better. They do lots of other great things too. They have all kinds of lovely pastries, and cakes they do sandwiches etc. but for us, they're on the croissants are the bomb. I also stopped today and grabbed a couple nice sweets for after our dinner. One was a almond apricot tart, and the other one was a chocolate tart called Africa. Both were excellent. Do not hesitate trying any other pastries here they are always fantastic.

Couldn't speak highly enough of this place. Their pastries are 11/10! One of the best almond croissant I've had! All of their pastries are always so fresh and handled and packed with care. They also have lots of fancy cakes and mini cakes. These are amazing for any occasion. We love ordering an assortment of the mini cakes to be able to try many different flavours. This place is definitely a staple! There's also plenty of indoor seating and some outdoor patio seating as well for when the weather is nice.

Amazing croissants! Ordered the butter, almond, and chocolate croissants to go. They were crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth soft inside. Also tried the Parisen baguette, which is a yummy ham and cheese sandwich. For dessert, I tried the opera cake which was very decadent and had an intense coffee flavour. On the pricier end for baked goods, but worth it for the quality! Will be back for more.

This place was wonderful. I'd say it is my second favourite croissant place in the city (Cherry Bomb is still my fav). This was FABULOUS! Buttery and flaky. The ham and cheese one was delightful. Even the ham was really yummy. I wish they were just a little for crisp on the outside but honestly, I LOVED every bite. They also have a TON of very fancy treats. You would be a hero bringing any of them home. They also have fun packaged items like interesting flavours of chips. We bought 4 bags and came home and did a sampling of the different flavours. They also have neat cookies too. Worth the trip east!

Best almond croissants in the city. They do have great cakes and other yummy pastries, but their almond croissants are top notch. The croissants are baked, then filled with the most yummy almond filling, then they're baked a second time to make the entire exterior super crunchy and flakey. I once bought a dozen almond croissants and that might have not been enough. Service is really friendly and they have a nice little patio for the spring/summer months.

A quaint location with delicious pastries. I had their pain au chocolat and it was delicious even in the next day. I tried their Quebec Tourtiere for the first time. It was an okay tourtiere, but not the greatest. Nice place to get a coffee and pastry on the go.

Quarantine Day 9.5: I was really craving dessert and decided to treat myself. I splurged and got a box of 6 macarons via UberEats to my door. The order arrived in a lovely red paper bag that was sealed with a gold sticker with their stork logo on it. Inside was a really cute macaron box that had a ribbon tied on it. It was really a delight to open. The first thing I noticed was that one of the macarons looked a little worse for wear. It turns out that one was actually a bonus macaron! I got a 7th one that wasn't the prettiest but still tasted great. There was a cherry on top of that too, it was pistachio flavoured which was my favourite from the lot. The filling was very creamy and dreamy. I also tried a raspberry and lemon. These were a jam. Both were quite tart which was nice from how sweet the others were. I had ordered a sea salt caramel macaron but I think they accidentally gave me a coffee/espresso one. This turned out to be my second favourite. It was a strong coffee flavour. It felt very grown up and sophisticated. The last one I tried was the mango passion fruit. It was very different from the others because of the tropical flavours but I think they did a good job emulating those fruits. I suppose at $3.25 a piece (there's a discount if you get 6 or 12) they are a tiny bit expensive but that's to be expected with macarons.

I've seen the bakery for as long as I've lived in the neighbourhood but only recently popped in for a visit. Ordered a slice of their garden fresh quiche with a side garden salad. The quiche was yummy, though it needed to be piping hot. It was only slightly warmed upon arrival to my table. Salad and dressing were good. I sampled a selection of their custom made desserts and they were excellent! Their pastry selection is quite vast and offers different flavours. There's ample space to sit too. It's a cosy spot along the Danforth. Will be back!

This bakery is big enough to sit there and enjoy your cake, pastries or coffee. Their almond croissant is delicious. It's filled with an almond paste that is heavenly. I've never come across this with any other almond croissant in Toronto and it does make a huge difference in taste. Not as dry as some other ones. Their hazelnut roll was good as well as their pain au chocolat. Would definitely go back for more almonds goodness. They also have a mini grocery section.

A nice mid-day breakfast/brunch on a cold, rainy day. A little on the expensive side but worth a visit. The pastry counter is very enticing.

Fresh pastries, delicious quiches, crepes and tourtière and sandwiches is what this place is about. There's a great variety of breakfast and brunch along with pastries to pick from. Love the free wifi too. They also sell lots of other variety of snacks and chocolates. Service...hmmm that's another comment depending what time of the day you are here.

Wait staff told me that if I didn't like like price of a sandwich...I should go to McDonald's. Hmm, I'd call that insulting.

Wow! So beautiful! Haven't tried it yet but I can already tell it will be delicious. Delivery was awesome, had a chefs hat and full baker's outfit on. So kind! A couple of the letters and toppings had shifted and fallen off when I opened it but it was a quick fix. An amazing graduation dessert :)

Overpriced and lots of attitude from staff. Tasty things but almost $3 for a croissant that cost maybe $0.19 to $0.31 is obscene.

It's a cute place. I've been looking for a good French bakery and this one provided me with a variety of desserts. They were really sweet when I went in. I got an exotic flower (a white chocolate mousse cake with a tropical fruit center). It tasted fantastic. I took it to go, but I do think I would like to go back and try sitting in. The cafe looked adorable. The only reason it lost a star is because of the price. It's a wonderful tasting dessert, but it isn't cheap.

Came here for brunch on a Sunday and sat on their outdoor patio. Service was more a 2 star and the food and space was a 4 star, so we're giving them an overall 3. We sat ourselves down and brought a menu with us and when we were ready to order, we had to go back inside to do so. They came to give us our food and that was the only single time that they've made any communication with us. No one came to refill our water, and it was an extremely hot day and we were sitting outside. When coming back inside to pay, we waited almost 10 minutes. We ordered the crepes with chicken, mushroom, pepper and cheddar cheese, the ham and cheese with egg on croissant sandwich, the smoked salmon baguette sandwich, a coffee and a blueberry danish. The food was delicious and very savoury. Wanted to order multiple things on the menu. However, slightly overpriced for what we got. Each item was above $10 besides the danish. Overall, nice place for a quick bite on a sunny day. Would definitely come back to try something else on the menu.

My friends and I love to come for the almond croissants and desserts. The croissants are always delicious and filled to the brim with almond paste. Grabbing a cup of coffee and sitting in the outside patio with their delicious pasteures are always a treat. The service is always warm and considerate - we've even called in advance before arriving and they made sure to set aside our requested items for us. Have brought out of town friends and everyone leaves happy.

Saw that this was in my neighbourhood so decided to give it a try! I had purchased a regular croissant and an almond croissant. The croissants were very flaky however I can't say I was too pleased with the regular croissant as it had a burnt taste to it (which I really don't care for). The almond croissant was really good, I would go back for that one. They had a beautiful display of sweets which I would like to go back to try.

There is no better patisserie than this one. Best croissants in TO, in my opinion. Great coffee and lattes, amazing baked desserts. Good sandwich and lunch items. Incredible tortierre. Highly recommended.

Compare to Patisserie La Cigogne's location on Bayview, this location on Danforth is huge with this nice side shaded patio..... Great selections of French pastries and individual cakes...and great services... Green Tea cake ($5.25) has great matcha taste and with a great nutty taste that compliment each other. It is a little pricey.... especially in this neighbourhood?? Nice staff helps me select some chocolate and truffles to surprise my friends.. Caramel, Black Currants and Hazelnuts? My friends seemed to enjoy them without complaining? I guess they must be quite good. I definitely be back to have a cappuccino and croissant on the patio next time when I am in the neighbourhood!

I had brunch here this week with a couple of friends. We were not asked to prove we were vaccinated and neither were any of the customers who came in to eat after us. Is the food good? It is. But if they don't care about our safety, (or the law), then where else are they not taking proper precautions?

I just came from Patisserie La Cigogne and I was very disappointed. I spent 10 minutes alone in front of the counter and didn't get served. No one was there! One person, a young lady who was on her break and was talking on her phone. She told me when she saw me that she was on her break. At the end of 10 minutes a woman who was a bit older came around from the washrooms and said she had something to do in the back and disappeared. Don't bother going there. I've been here twice and the service is dismal.

I used to receive a great client service in this patisserie - not today. When I arrived at 2 pm, the employee was half laying down head on the counter, writing on post-its. She did not show anxious to serve me. No smile, no greetings, never asked me if the cake was to eat-in or take-out, neither did she offer plates and cutlery. Later, I asked her if the rest of the cake could be kept in the freezer at home for not wasting food. She laughed! And when we left, no thanks and no greetings either. We will not come back to La Cigogne, and will not promote this place.

I really like this place. French pastries and their prices at Patisserie La Cigogne are almost identical to other French bakeries in the city, but they are more spacious and comfortable. The neighborhood is a residential area, so people and the shops are more relaxed. I can stay and relax for a while. I order tea and they give me a pot. It is a lot. My friend orders a cup of coffee and later he can get free refill. I am happy about it. I would love to go back there.

The food here is amazing, so it pains me to do this, but I need to drop two stars for the consistently poor service. On my last visit there was a small group of us dined in. While we were seated in good order, it took forever for someone to come and take our order, despite our repeated attempts to flag someone down. Finally someone from our group went up to the counter and the staff person seemed incredibly annoyed about it. We finally got our order in, but somehow my order was missed. Unfortunately no one came back to our table to ask how our food was or if we needed anything. Finally when I mentioned my food never came (again, had to go up to the counter), I just got a "oh, sorry about that" like it was no big deal. They did offer to put the order in except our group was leaving so I couldn't stay. I ordered a pastry to go, which they could have just offered to let me have as a gesture of goodwill for failing to deliver my meal, but instead they charged be for it. In summary, food is awesome here (especially the pastries and quiche). Service needs work.

I've lived on the Danforth for 25 years and always heard this place was great - not so much!! Came on a Thursday morning and got little to no service. The server made us wait 15 minutes (the coffee shop is empty, by the way!) before she brought us empty coffee cups. She fails to tell us that you have to get up and get your own coffee - so we waited with empty cups for another 15 minutes for her to bring us coffee. Servers should explain this kind of thing to patrons! The server said she was the only server onsite, which would have excused the bad service, but there were practically no customers to keep her busy. Not sure if they schedule worse staff on weekdays since it's less busy, but overall I was so disappointed with this place. Also, really bad cappuccino - and on national cappuccino day, no less. Lol! Finally, I think that croissants at McDonalds are better than here.

Made the mistake of having lunch here. the sandwiches were made with at least day old baguette, they were served cold with soggy tomatoes, little turkey, and even less "avocado spread". upon taking a bite, I asked the server if they heated up the sandwiches and she responded: no, it's up to the customers to ask. I decided to make a complaint on our way out, and the manager couldn't care less - she just said, oh, sorry. Never going back to this overpriced and poor quality/service establishment.

Posting my email to them _______________________________________________________________ I just left your cafe after ordering food to go and I would like to make you aware of the staff that are representing the danforth location. I am unsure of the lady who was waiting on me, but she is Russian, on the shorter side, and has long brown hair. 1. She was quite rude to me when I accidentally cancelled my order on the debit machine, acting as if it was the hardest thing to have to re-put punch in the numbers. I would understand if there was a line behind me and a bunch of people at their tables waiting for food, but it was pretty calm in the cafe. 2. Secondly, a lady came up to asking for her lattes as her lunch had already arrived and as she had been waiting a while for them. Visibly annoyed your server, went to the back and I heard her say "take your time making their drinks, because they complained." - It's not a compliant to ask for your order to come all at once, when the store is not busy as people want to enjoy the food at the same time - As a representation of your cafe, your staff should not be be purposefully taking their time as revenge, because they do not like a customer nor should another customer hear this Honestly, I should have cancelled my order and left, as the behaviour of this staff as left a bad taste in my mouth. I have come to expect poor service, but I have ignored it because the food you prepare is delicious. However, after today's services and disgusting treatment of your patrons. I will no longer be coming in for lunches or purchasing treats, because I cannot support a local business that has no respect for it customers. I would recommend you have a word with your staff. Having a bad day is not an excuse when they work in a role interacting with people.

For a cake that's a bit more expensive than a high-end grocery store cake, I came away really impressed. After searching around for a bakery, I decided to give this place a try based on recommendations from some friends. They have a pretty good selection of cakes and I ultimately settled on Bacarra, an opera-styled cake with dark chocolate ganache, caramel cream, crunchy pistachio and peaches. I really loved how well the peaches complimented the pistachio and chocolate. There's also a sit-down portion of the restaurant. I came here for a breakfast croissant and coffee. The regular croissant wasn't too bad - it was fluffier than ones I've had elsewhere, but also hollow in the middle. The almond croissant was a denser, sweeter, version. They weren't my favourite croissants I've had in the city but are a solid 3/5. Coffee is self-serve with unlimited refills. Overall, I'd definitely come back to order another cake but I'll probably give the croissants a pass unless I'm in the neighbourhood.

I had a nice tuna sandwich with a side salad. The dressing was amazing. The only downside is that it is a little of the pricey side, but you can expect that from a French patisserie. I've been to the location on Bayview as well, and liked that cafe too. Same French goods and vibe.

Bought two pieces of cake to go. Opera cake: coffee chocolate cake. Layered with powerful coffee and chocolate flavour and super soft. Really liked this one. 4/5 Pistachio hazelnut almond cake: couldn't taste the Pistachio. Liked the almond crunch layer and hazelnut crust. Wished there was more pistachio flavour. Liked the presentation of this cake. 3/5 Pretty pricey. At $6.50 a slice. The opera cake was pretty small in comparison to the pistachio cake. Cafe is spacious and clean. Free wifi for anyone that wants to study there.

A cute patisserie on the Danforth, Patisserie La Cigogne provides a nice large space to enjoy your morning breakfast/tea, lunch or afternoon tea! Coming here on a weekday morning, I purchased a crossaint and a teapot with Earl Grey Tea for $7 to $8. The tea wasn't anything too special, so the cost of the tea in my opinion wasn't too worth it as it costed around $4, but the crossaint was delicious! The texture of the crossaint was flakey and crisp on the outside with a soft dough on the inside and it was served in a cute basket to catch all of your crumbs. The price of the crossaint is a little more than your average Tim Horton's Crossaint, but for something that costs slightly more than Starbucks, I would purchase this crossaint any day. The overall ambiance was lovely, I like how the rooms are partitioned into two to allow guests to choose their space of comfort! They also had beautiful pastries, cakes and macarons - which unfortunately I didn't get a chance to purchase, but I think if I stop by the area next time, I will definitely pick some up to try!

**1/2 stars Came here with my aunt and cousin to grab a "quick" lunch during his break between assessment tests at the Greenwood School. I had heard good things about La Cigogne, and was even more excited that they opened up shop closer to the East end so I don't have to trek all the way up to Bayview. There is an outdoor, shaded patio which is nice for the summer months. When I arrived, there was only 1 other table of 2 moms and their posse of tots. I did alert the server (who was authentically French), that we were kind of pressed for time as we only had a half hour for lunch. She replied with a facial spasm of sorts that she would try but that there's no guarantee. We had already scoped out the display and knew what we wanted. 2 Bacon, Egg & Ham quiches and a Mushroom & Spinach Quiche. All quiches come with a side salad and rings in at $8.99. I also ordered an Earl Grey Tea and coffee. The coffee is self-serve and they use the Van Houtte brand here. Twinnings is the brand of tea they use. I expected more out of a local patisserie than Van Houtte - but then again I'm comparing it to the likes of Tango Palace Coffee Company, Ezra's Pound etcetera - all independent coffee houses. How long does it take to reheat a quiche and to mix a salad? Even an amateur cook such as I can do it in less than 5 minutes. We ended up waiting 20 minutes before our food showed up! This is without a doubt an authentic French establishment with their laissez-faire service. I ordered the Mushroom & Spinach Quiche with my mom's homemade version in mind. I think they should hire my mom as her quiche is infinitely better. This one was too much spinach and mushroom and not enough egg and cheese! It tasted way too "earthy" for me! The only redeeming factor is that the quiche crust is buttery and flavourful. The salad was baby spinach, grape tomatoes and dried cranberries served with a side of Dijon vinaigrette. The salad was fresh and the vinaigrette was tasty. I didn't get a chance to try their pricey croissants ($1.95 for a plain, $2.50 for chocolate and $3.00 for an almond), macarons, or other beautifully-crafted pastries, but will definitely be back in the future when I'm not racing against the clock.

Reviewing this place is really tricky because the place is really inconsistent! I've had really mediocre experiences and some of the best ever from this local french bakery. I'll start with the amazing point that inspires me to even write a review in the first place and I'll start with a bit of backstory. Many years ago I lived in France for about a year while doing my master's degree. I would wake up early to catch the bus to the university and I'd always buy an almond croissant for breakfast as it quickly became my absolutely favourite French baked good. After returning to Canada, I searched far and wide for an almond croissant that would scratch my itch and it wasn't until I found this place that I finally found something I enjoyed. What's more, and here is where the story gets interesting, the almond croissant here was better than any I had ever had in France! I was wondering if it had only been too long since I had a good almond croissant so I bought a half dozen and brought them to a Parisian friend of mine who now lives in Toronto. She actually agreed that these ones were the best she had EVER had! Funnily enough, one time I was dropping by to buy a few and another person in line was ordering them so I struck up a quick conversation and even he agreed that they were better than the ones he's had in France too! The thing is that every other type of French baked good I've gotten here is absolutely mediocre. Not bad, but not special. Even worse, there have been days more recently where even their almond croissants are half-assed and not what they were a few years ago. So here I am giving this place 3 stars. I'd give them 2 stars for most of their half-assed baked goods and a magical 6 stars for their most-of-the-time best almond croissants ever! As I read through some of the other reviews, I'm not surprised to see people singling out the almond croissants as what they like the most. Not surprised at all! As long as you catch them on a good day, which is luckily most days, and I'm beginning to guess is earlier in the day when they are fresher; then this place is worth a bloody pilgrimage JUST for the almond croissants. Otherwise, meh!

Hidden gem in the east end! Their cakes and pastries are mouth watering and I love their pumpkin spice coffee. I can't give a 5 star rating though due to the mediocre service of the employees. They looked super uninterested like they didn't want to be there. Otherwise, no complaints. A bit on the pricey side.

I've only been the once so far, but I'm definitely going again. It's basically a french bakery with some meal food. It's a big place, with tons of seating -- more than I imagine they need. They have lots of croissants, brioches, danishes, cakes, eclairs. They also have sandwiches, quiches and meat pies (tourtières). They serve brewed and espresso coffee. I've had a slice of quebec tourtière (good), a croissant (great), an almond croissant (I'm not ususally a fan, but it was good). The service was friendly and reasonably fast. The coffee was meh. Given their breakfast appeal, It'd be great if they could move up to 'great' coffee, then I could go there for a croissant and a coffee in the morning.

Some of the absolute best Croissants I have had in my life.... Better than most of the ones I had in France. It is consistently fresh, buttery, and with impeccable layering. The almond croissant is to die for. Desserts are ok, but I have to make a trip here for croissants every time I come to visit

Super almond croissants! Slow service. Atmosphere needs improvement but the pastry is delicious.

This place has amazing selections of pastries and cakes. This part of the city does not get much attention so it seems only the locals go there. Their almond croissants are the best and the locals know it. They come out of the oven fresh all through the day. Couple of times I had to wait for them to bring them out from the kitchen and they were still warm. One time, the man behind me in line shouted out to the server to reserve him the ones that are on the shelf and I only got to buy one when I wanted 2! They don't wrap the almond paste inside before baking but rather sandwich a large lump of paste in the middle. The almond to dough ratio really makes my taste buds dance! Cakes and macarons are all excellent like their Bayview shop. Unfortunately, some times they are not as fresh as they should be. Still, It is hard to find pastries this good in the neighbourhood and I am happy that this place is here.

You know a birthday cake is good when it beats homemade. I bought my sister their "Africa" cake (chocolate with walnuts and layers of sponge cake) and it was so good me and my two 50 pound sisters finished it in two days. Then birthday sister got home and her husband offered to bake her a birthday cake - he's a former chef - and she said no thank you, she'd already had the best cake ever. That's high praise. Also, their salmon quiche is awesome...

Having been here a few times, the only reason was because it is across the street from El Sol, so when we pick up take out there, I send hubby in to pick up a dessert here. The Opera cake is my favourite, a rich coffee and chocolate dessert best served chilled that is not as cold as the service here. The other reviewers aren't wrong, it can be like pulling teeth to get service here. The other location on Bayview is much, much better, perhaps because their clientele would not put up with this sort of lack of customer service.

Yum. Yum. Yum. Their baguettes, croissants and pastries are some of the best in the city. There are more flavour choices on the weekends. The coffee is great too

This place has good pastries and coffee at Starbucks prices. I paid over 8$ for a coffee and a pastry. The pastries are neatly arranged for easy viewing. They do offer self-serve coffee refills, so figure that this is added to the price. There is plenty of seating, making this an ideal place for a morning meeting on the Danforth. It is noteworthy that they will allow you to pay after you have finished- not a bad old school touch.
