The 21 Best Restaurants In Marseille - Marseille - The Infatuation

"A couple of blocks from Vieux Port is the reigning king of desserts in Marseille, Patisserie Sylvain Depuichaffray. This is a great place for a break while sightseeing, and to fortify yourself with a pastry or two and a cup of tea. Their glass case is filled with the best range in the city, hitting every French classic and then some—millefeuilles, macarons, summery fraisiers, raspberry-pistachio Paris-Brest d’été, and lemon tarts. There are also some treats that are less common in France, like a milk chocolate tart with caramel, peanut butter, and banana, plus house-made gelato and chocolates." - sophie friedman

Everything in the Patisserie is a beautiful piece of culinary art work, and incredibly delicious! The service was efficient and friendly.

This was my favorite Patisserie in Marseilles. We went back a second time as it was really good. The pastries are delicately prepared and not only look appealing but are super yummy. And as good European bakeries are they are not too sweet. The cafe's go along well with the pastry and bakery items. Nice cute atmosphere to sit down. We really love this place!

Stepped in here to get a cake for a friend. Also ended up sitting in (lovely air conditioning seating on a hot July day!) for excellent coffee and pattiserie. Absolutely delicious! My Marseille based friend later on confirmed this is the best pattiserie in Marseille!

Google
The cakes were tasty, the macarons nothing special and very, very expensive. There was a linguistic and cultural clash with the staff when we tried to communicate.

Google
Beautiful pastry shop! We stopped in for some macarons to go but felt very tempted to try more! There was also space to sit in and eat. Macarons were delicious and we really enjoyed the flavors - including orange blossom, passionfruit and chocolate, pistachio and raspberry.

Our Airbnb host recommended this patisserie and we were very pleased with the cakes and pastries! Had breakfast there 2 out of 4 mornings we were in Marseille! It’s true, they only have one bar of chocolate in the pain au chocolat, but it was still really good and fluffy. I particularly enjoyed the pistachio and strawberry cake. The pistachio and raspberry eclair was good too.

Google
The pain au chocolat and croissant are tasty, but a bit too buttery for my liking and definitely on the expensive side. The ice creams and pastries are good, but the prices feel exaggerated compared to the quality. Overall, good flavors, but not great value for money.

Google
Beautiful cozy cafe serving a variety of pastries, cakes, and macarons (as well as some limited savoury/salad options). Tried their cheesecake which I found a bit too sour, and a choc chip brioche(?) which was too plain, and coffee was way too bitter.

Yelp
Lovely crepe and Cafe ua latte for a light breakfast this morning. Beautiful bakery items close to the port of Marsaille.

Yelp
Perfect breakfast. Perfect bakery. Our last meal in Marseille and I'm still thinking about those croissants.

Yelp
The food was amazing, friendly staff, and comfortable environment. I highly recommend this place! My husband had the quiche Lorraine and I had a croissant. The coffee was so delicious we both had 2 cups!!

Yelp
This bakery is super close to the old wharf and does not have outdoor seating. I went to this bakery due to the high reviews and the food was indeed remarkable. My partner got the croissant and I got a mousse dessert. We came back for a second meal and I had the gnocchi salad with asparagus in which the asparagus was way better than any American asparagus I have ever eaten. My partner had a super fluffy quiche with a buttery crust. We both had a glass of wine which was 3 euros each. The portions are small, and the prices are reasonable.

Yelp
The highlight of my Marseille trip was this bakery!! I'm floored at how everything I ordered was exceptionally good. My friend and I practically bought every item in the store for breakfast and our lunch takeaway. The desserts are phenomenal but they are known for their traditional Mille Feuille and the green tea one is just as great. The salads, cookies, cakes, desserts and juices were tasty too. I went here twice during my stay and got to sample pretty much all the main items in the bakery and I will tell you their croissant is nothing like the one stateside. The crust is crispy, light, and the texture on the inside is perfection without it being too doughy. I had two! I wish they had this store in the states...by my house. I would go there every day. The ladies helping us out were patient even though we ordered a bunch. They must have thought we were extremely hungry or crazy.

Yelp
Delicious!!! They have a huuuuge selection of pastries and the coffee and espresso is great.

Yelp
I had the best coffee in the world here at Sylvain. It was a simple coffee with cream (Café au lait - maybe?) but something is done perfectly. I visited Paris as a young boy and had Café au lait that changed my view on coffee forever. This was exactly how coffee should be done in France. I loved every single item on display so it took me many minutes before choosing one. The ambience and the care by the staff make my visit a highly memorable experience.

Yelp
Chic coffee shop with delicious pastries and amazing coffee. Unlike other cafes in the area this one has a place to sit and enjoy your cup of cafe au lait!

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience at Sylvain Depuichaffray. My husband and I visited this lovely little patisserie for breakfast when we were in Marseille. It is such a lovely store, super clean and well lit and the staff are very friendly and the owner/manager is just wonderful!! There are English speaking servers so there are no problem communicating with them. We had millefuille and some croissants and a chocolate cake which were all exquisite!! We would definitely visit again if we are in Marseille again. This is definitely a MUST TRY.

Yelp
Lovely little Boulangerie and patisserie to visit in the mornings. I loved the flaky, buttery croissants but would return to try other options... Including the macaron cakes.

Yelp
They make the most delicious mille feuille! I only had the original flavour last time, I would love to return to try their matcha mille feuille next time:)
