The Best Birthday Cake in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Pâtisserie Zébulon is an ambitious new Plateau pasty shop dedicated to vegan sweets. The attention to detail is apparent at first glance and carries over to its cake collection. There are three options: chocolate with a caramel center, classic vanilla with puffed amaranth, or berry with sweet clover cream. Available in multiple tiers." - Valerie Silva

This place is truly a heaven for dessert and pastry lovers! There are so many options - I was honestly fascinated just looking at the display. We also tried their wraps, and they were so fresh, and absolutely delicious. It’s nice to see a place that does both sweet and savory so well. As for the desserts, we tried two flavors: mango and strawberry. Both were tasty, but the strawberry one stole the show for me. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the mood to treat yourself!

Pâtisserie Zébulon is a modern gem with a surprisingly large space and plenty of seating, making it perfect for relaxing and enjoying your treats. You can tell how much care and thought goes into everything they make each pastry is beautifully presented and full of flavor. They offer a great mix of sweet and savoury options, and everything looks almost too good to eat. It was a little on the pricey side, but honestly, it was worth it for the quality and experience. I was also really impressed by how easily they accommodated my nut allergy. The staff was knowledgeable, kind, and made the whole experience feel safe and welcoming. It’s not always easy to find places that take allergies seriously, so that meant a lot. A must-visit spot if you’re into pastries that are both creative and carefully made

Pâtisserie Zébulon makes one of the best chocolate chip cookies in Montreal, their chocolate moose pastry is out of this world spectacular, and their coffee isn’t bad either. The service at their new St.Denis location is quite attentive and helpful, as they go out of there way to describe the details of their craft. Generally, things are on the expensive side, but I guess you get what you pay for since the quality of these Vegan treats are top notch. To be honest, I wish the chairs and tables were more comfortable for relaxing, and unfortunately this cafe’s atmosphere is a bit barren and cold, but hopefully that will improve with time. In any case, I do look forward to returning to Pâtisserie Zébulon to sample more of their menu.

The staff was super polite and respectful, they explained to me one and each flavor every time I went. The cookies were okey, I was expecting more flavor in the chocolate, but I got more sugary taste. The mini cakes were excelente. Hope to get back some day🤗❤️ Thank u for going vegan!!!!

Zebulon 2.0 is better - the spacious seating, the savory selections, the new location - two thumbs up! Enjoyed the new lunch sandwich with jackfruit (so rich that I stained my pants with the dressing, but it was worth it!) and a croissant ♥️

Google
Superb dairy free pastry place! Was thrilled that their chef used his talent to also offer wonderfully-executed gluten free choices, for those of us that have to avoid both diary and gluten. When we went, the gluten free items included two different types of tiramisu (pistachio and sesame), chocolate mousse pecan cake, olive oil cake, and a passion fruit coconut cheesecake. The customer service was great. We ended up getting the pistachio tiramisu and chocolate mousse pecan cake, plus try the olive oil cake. All three were ace. I especially loved the mousse components that were less sweet (and you could taste the nutty and chocolate flavours) and the olive cake that was not overly sweet. We will be back often!

This pastry shop is amazing! Really delicious 🤤 The coffee is decent. The staff are friendly. Very spacious open concept interior with an interesting seating arrangement.

Google
Beautiful presentation (and all vegan!) and luckily for my dad bod the tongue wasn't feeling it like the eye. Everything was decent but not irresistible: I took a few bites and shared the rest without wolfing anything down. Not bad, but nothing worth the fat and sugar

Yelp
This place has THE best chocolate chip cookies, they rival non-vegan cookies I have had. Perfect texture and the sprinkling of salt balances out the sweetness. I wish I didn't live so far away from this bakery. Run, don't walk, to this bakery and get yourself some cookies.

Yelp
Pastisserie Zebulon is a beautiful patisserie shop in the heart of Montreal. This is what vegan dessert dreams are made of. Each patisserie is made with attention and care. The treats are very instagramable. From croissants, to tartlets; there are ample of options available.

Yelp
Found this cute pastry shop while walking around the area. We got the yuzu lemon tart and it was delicious! I like how it's not overly sweet, just the right amount of flavor. Come give this place a try they have unique pastry selections and cute seating areas.

Yelp
It's a bit small. Not really meant to buy pastries and chill with friends. Pastries are all vegan and delicious!! I'd absolutely come back.

Yelp
A wonderful little well-located vegan bakery with appetizing,  exquisite, plant-based meticulously prepared, pastries, cakes and desserts made with fresh quality ingredients that really satisfy cravings with just the right balance of sweetness.

Yelp
This bakery is rated very high and I wondered why when I visited since it seemed pretty average. There were familiar & tasty items that my mother used to make but nothing inspirational.

Yelp
This is not your average pâtisserie, since not only is it vegan it's chef and namesake is there onsite so you know you are in for something special. Not only do his offerings look like art work, they are made of high quality ingredients (in season and local when can be) and have a unique taste profile and include neat additions like jellies and edible flowers. When you walk in you will find an L-shaped counter and near the front of the long side, near the window is a rack of top notch croissants and one of my favorite items in the cookie world; their chocolate round chunk cookies with Fleur de sel: these delicacies are both moist and crave worthy. On their own they would get a five rating, so the other exquisite pastries, tartlets and cakes he creates - which are displayed in a case at the back to the small shop are colorful and unique - are pastry masterpieces. Now back to my point about the chef being there, unlike some others that maybe more fancy spaces or have a lot of marketing, Chef Zébulon is also the real deal and in my opinion is worthy of accolade beyond five stars. Keep up the good and hard work. By the other 5 star rating it's received, it seems other people are noticing, which tends to happen when something is exceptionally good. Glad that I discovered his boutique and all its treats!

Yelp
Fresh approach to vegan pastry. A celebration of local fruits delivered in decadent yet balanced and modern vegan deserts. I am forever grateful that Montreal has this gem and I hope they stay opened for many years to come. I absolutely love their cookies, "wownie" which is the best chocolate hazelnut brownie ever and their mango cheezecake! Oh, and their coffee creations to quench that Starbucks thirst I have but with none of the scary dairy, thank you!

Yelp
Simply mind-blowing. Unlike many North American style bakeries, this one is more European in the sense that its pastries are not drowned in sugar, but instead filled with flavourful ingredients. The chocolate cookie and tiramisu are to die for.
