Made a reservation for 2 to celebrate our 27th anniversary. My wife and I enjoyed it very much. No need to go to Carmel/PG/Monterey to eat such delish cuisines. Good old downtown Salas came through with this jewel of a restaurant. We had the mushroom soup, artichoke appetizer, Lamb and calamari dinner. Servers Mireya and Juan were awesome and went out of their way to make it a pleasant and memorable experience. The bar and bartender were very generous with our drinks. Super highly recommend it for an anniversary and/or some type of celebration. We wish the recent owners lots of success.

This place is in the heart of Downtown in Salinas and I can't make up my mind if the food is better or the service and staff. But one thing is that the staff is always customer focused and goes above and beyond. If I give 10 out of 10 for the food and drinks, I would give a 20 out of 10 for the staff and service.

A pleasant surprise and worth stopping into Salinas for! We were in Salinas for an event and found Patria. They have a varied selection of foods from Italy, German and France. I had the jager schnitzel with spaetzle and rot khol/red cabbage. The pork was tender and lightly breaded with a tasty jager/mushroom sauce/gravy. The spaetzle was slightly fried and had a slight crunch, which is different than traditional spaetzle. The rot khol/red cabbage is a family recipe with corriander, apples, clove and other spices and was extremely good! The atmosphere is a rustic French country look with rural German country home look. Authentic down to the Hofkreuze cross at the doorway to another section. Several smaller dining areas to make for an intimate dining experience. Highly recommend!

Google
Very Cool Restuarant! Salinas finest! My drink Passion fruit Martini was very good! And Dinner was Very good as well. I had Fried Calamari that wasn't very crispy but it was soft and the dipping sauce made it very tasty. I also ordered the Chicken Salad... I enjoyed my meal listing to cool jazzy Bossa Nova type music. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated with a well balanced vibe and clean look. It really gives you more of the city type vibe then of Salinas! I went on a Thursday evening and the place was crowded so reservations are best!

This is a charming gem with delicious food. The decor was nicely done and there wasn't a single bite of food that we didn't absolutely enjoy! The chef visited our table and later happily wound up the cuckoo clocks so my daughter could experience their chirping birds, chimes, and moving characters. I would highly recommend giving this place a try. Thank you Chef!

Overall was a great experience and the food was delicious. I opted for the special of the day which was a lamb shank. It was cooked beautifully and came right of the bone. The sauce was also delicious and the peas a nice touch. My wife had the lasagna and that was even more amazing. Creamy, cheesey, and very flavorful. Was really a great dish, and I would highly recommend it (I know it will be my choice during our next visit!) The desert was... Lackluster. We decided to share a cheesecake. Tasted like a store bought cheesecake, similar to the bread and butter we were offered after taking our drink order. The lemon sauce with hints of strawberry was better than the cheesecake. I was happy to have tried this cozy little spot with a great ambient atmosphere.

Google
I gave them 4 stars because food and desserts were delish. Our piña coladas, and Paloma drinks were not good. The wine selection was great. The atmosphere was welcoming. Staff was friendly. My family and I had a great family dinner.

Seated by Paulo( owner) our waitress was great as well. Food and drinks served at your pace( not rushed) they even exchanged my glass of wine for one that paired better with my meal, at no extra charge.casial atmosphere, not to loud. Pretty busy that Friday at 7pm. Reservations recommended.mushroom risotto ( barley used) and mine was filet of sole. Both great. Had calamari app, yummy, and dessert was an espresso martini!. They also have a separated (by 1/2 wall) bar,as well as additional room for larger groups

Yelp
Patria has just reopened under new management and they are getting it absolutely right! I had a house starter salad which was fresh and crisp - no bagged lettuce! Homemade vinaigrette was tasty if a bit heavy on the vinegar. I also had the Bucatini Blackened Salmon. It was so delicious! Creamy and flavorful and the salmon was perfectly cooked. Other dishes of note ordered at our table - a lobster bisque and the lasagna were both very good. One last improvement is the restaurant used to smell strongly of cleaning product. So much so that it interfered with the food. While everything was clean and shining and spotless the smell is no longer there. We will be back!!

Yelp
I love the European menu at this restaurant! Only place I could find rabbit on the menu, and some solid German food too! It has a little of everything, Italian, French, German. Such a gem! Well use to be.... the owner recently sold the restaurant and whom ever has taken over is really letting the integrity slip through their fingers. I'm not someone to bash a place but I was really excited to enjoy my dinner but once I got it I was very let down. German spaetzle, red apple braised cabbage with a fried pork cutlet was my dinner. The cabbage was overpowered by cloves, the spaetzle was really bucatini tossed in bread crumbs and the gravy sauce tasted like marsala. So unfortunate. It's a beautiful restaurant and the staff were very attentive to me but the food lacked. I hope things get better as the new owners settle in. Willing to give it another shot one of these days.

Yelp
Travelling thru on road trip from LA to Eugene, I treated myself to an excellent dining experience. Cannot resist grilled artichokes. Sprung for melt in your mouth filet Mignon, tasty house blend red wine. Great service, nice atmosphere..music was not to my taste. Apparently just remodeled and building clientele back up - definitely recommend and will likely return on my return trip South!

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise! We were on a road trip up the 101. I Googled options in Salinas and we decided on Patia. What a pleasant surprise! A varied menu... with some wonderful German items. We met new owner and chef José and had a nice chat. It seems he learned his German cooking from the prior owner... and we were so pleased that he had. Proper German red cabbage in Salinas, CA of all places! Fantastic. Our waitress was outstanding. And the art on the walls eclectic and charming. We will now put Patria on the list for all of our Highway 101 north-to-south runs! No question.

Yelp
***UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP***As of just this week. Apparently they kept partial previous menu but made a lot of changes. Instead of a European these it's not leaning Italian. Tried the scallops which were light and it comes with a medium to small scoop on mashed potatoes which was just enough to hit the spot without too much carb guilt. I ordered an old fashion light on the sugar and it was pretty good. I also ordered a pizza to go and tried it there to experience the fresh intended experience. It was very different than what I expected but very good - light as pizza's go and simple flavors were refreshing - it was the "Rustica" and had a pesto sauce with fresh raw tomatoes added after it was cooked - interesting but was good. Overall really good drinks, high quality food, I'll be back when I'm back in town. Note that I did not try the steak because I don't risk trying steaks unless they're recommended. If anyone can recommend here I'd be willing to venture outside my normal rotation. They said this was a soft open so hopefully they can maintain the great service I had - either way the ambiance was great. Great place for a date or group dinner. Christian bartender was great - seemed too young for the quality drinks he made.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere with soothing music and pleasant lighting. The hard wood seating in the booth I was at in the bar area was a little uncomfortable but not unbearable. New York steak was cooked to my liking in the middle (medium-rare) however I personally would have seared the outside a little less, but that's just preference, next time I'll mention it. The mashed potatoes and green beans were well flavored with a good presentation. I would have loved to try the potatoes au gratin, but couldn't do the dairy this evening, next time! I also enjoyed a delicious espresso that and it was even served on a nice little platter with sugar, great touch. Christian was a great and very attentive server and even recommended a nice park I will be going to tomorrow. I would definitely recommend.

Yelp
It's always empty. The roast chicken dinner was all dry and tasted like it was made ahead of time days before and frozen and reheated and it was all dry The salad that came with it tasted like pure vinegar and they charge you for bread - they charge you six dollars if you want some bread with your salad and dinner

Yelp
Patria has NEW owners and just reopened as of 1/27/2025. There was some minor remodeling but the same casual and warm atmosphere is still there. In addition to some of the "classic Patria" dishes they now have Italian dishes as well. They also still have the flatbread pizza. For now they are open only for dinner but within 2-3 weeks - they plan on being open for lunch and have a brunch on Sunday. I had the Lasagna which was very good while my friend had one of the classic dishes and also enjoyed it. Definitely will be coming back to try other items on the menu. Costs for the Lasagna was $22 plus tax to give you an idea of costs.

Yelp
I am from out of town and my colleagues and I travelled here for a few business meetings. We Had dinner here last night and it was amazing! The server was very attentive and friendly throughout the night. I ordered the grilled pork chop. It came with au gratin potatoes and sautéed spinach, topped with a creamy mushroom sauce and caramelized onions. For dessert we ordered one of everything to share. Chocolate Almond cake , crème brûlée, pear strudel, and. triple mousse chocolate cake! From top to bottom the experience, service , and food was amazing !
google avatar

Lulu P.

Yelp
We had eggplant strata and the pork with schnitzel and they were both amazing!!! Service was so so, not extremely busy but seems a little slow. Maybe an off night who knows but we will go back

Yelp
Amazing food at super reasonable prices & really nice servers. Private booths available too!

Yelp
Had dinner with friends every other Friday night for almost three years, starting with COVID. Two of my friends ended up with me in their bubble when the shelter in place occurred in 2020. We decided to support a local restaurant during this difficult time. Over the course of the next three years, we grew to know Paulo, Kim, and a great waiter, Ubaldo. Food was good, menu never changed. Paulo and Ubaldo gave us a sumptuous lobster dinner which we will never forget! Last year, Ubaldo was let go because he seeked a path to citizenship. We were devastated. Granted, we do not know the other side of the story, if there is one. We have not been to Patria's since Ubaldo left.

Yelp
The best restaurant in Salinas. Europe style service and food. The schnitzel is like being in Austria.

Yelp
Very high quality food and service for Salinas. What a surprise to walk into! A polished European getaway in Old Town! The bar, tables and booths are very well done. Although we didn't have cocktails on this outing, the bar looked very well-stocked to make some very high quality drinks. Patria has a wonderful menu with many options. The salads are absolutely top notch, and the butter lettuce salad tastes like the lettuce was literally just picked before being tossed into a perfect vinaigrette. Schnitzel isn't easy to find, and never done this well. So many good offerings here. The service was excellent, and the server was well-spoken, super polite and knowledgeable. We would definitely come back!

Yelp
Food is consistently delicious, staff is nice and attentive, and drinks are well made.

Yelp
Patria offers attentive service, a clean restaurant, and delicious food. The butternut squash raviolis were a highlight of my first visit. The staff was very attentive, and the portion sizes were perfect for one person. The restaurant's cute decor adds to the overall experience.

Yelp
Two of my sisters came down from the east Bay Area to celebrate my birthday, even though it was a 3 hour drive. All three of us throughly enjoyed the service, the atmosphere, and especially the food!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm not sure if perhaps the host/hostess didn't arrive the evening that we came for dinner, but it took us probably 15 minutes to be seated. There wasn't anyone to greet us at the front, and there were a couple of people who would say "be right with you" but never come greet us. Finally, we were able to ask someone if they knew if there was an available table, and he was the one who showed us to our table and served us during our meal. He was very friendly! The decor was also very cozy and rustic. I liked all the various paintings (some were for sale). The restaurant itself is pretty large -- there's a nice bar area for drinks as well. I really enjoyed the meal I had, and the German-French fusion was definitely interesting! I had the risotto with ratatouille and it was probably one of the best risottos I have ever had! Just the right amount of creaminess and came steaming hot! I would absolutely have ordered that dish again (I hope they never get rid of it!).

Yelp
Absolutely amazing restaurant! The owner is very nice and keeps the food authentic. Kim is the best server ever! Such good food!

Yelp
Nice little cafe with a relaxed environment and cozy atmosphere. A mix of European and Italian specific menu items. Service is always good and specials are always worth a close look.

Yelp
Patria has a wonderful vibe and ambiance. There's lots of art. Much of it is painted by the owner who always visits with people at their tables. There are lots of seating areas that each have their distinct feel. I thought the pacing of our service was a bit fast/off, but on previous visits it's been great. The portions all feel the right size. We came and ordered a bunch of appetizers almost immediately. Olives, calamari (excellent), and broccoli soup were special for the day. The beef goulash with spaetzle was great--big, juicy beef chunks in a thick sauce with a significant depth of flavor. The gnocchi was light and soft, and the ravioli was served in a most amazing lemony sauce. I'm not sure what Covid has to do with discontinuing bread service, which is a minor but annoying/disappointing thing. And, of course, the desserts. The hazelnut torte is classic and great if you're looking for a not-too-sweet dessert after a big meal. But if you crave chocolate, the 3 chocolate mousse was perfect. The peach strudel and creme brulee hit the spot too.

Ron D.

Yelp
Always a good choice. The menu is consistent and food prepared perfectly. Interior is comfortable old world feel. They have a full bar and the staff is always friendly - service can be a little slow but if you're looking for a nice relaxed and no rush evening, give it a try.
google avatar

Yelp
Patria is a gem, centrally located in downtown Salinas. A diverse menu with a strong mix of options. Their Blue Zones menu offers flavorful, healthy options. The pesto pasta is my favorite. The service is always good and the space is inviting.

Denise D.

Yelp
Everything from start to finish was fantastic. Some had the special Ling Cod in a device sauce with scalloped potatoes. The fish was perfect.flaky and most. I had lasagna...the sauce was the star...do cream and cheese. Great tomato taste. We had the carmalized onion pizza and beet salad as appetizers..excellent

Yelp
It's a little hard to find fine vegan dining in Salinas, but Patria's chef is so willing to make a beautiful vegan dish of vegetables and pasta for anyone who is vegan. It was much to my delight when I learned this. My plate was loaded with a lovely array of veggies, beets, green beans, carrots, spinach, egg plant, and pasta... awesome dish. He was so happy to do this. The service is great, just enough attention and not too much. When I have been there, it is a bit more quiet, during mid-week, and I know they can get busy on the weekends. It's a lovey, rustic and homey feeling, while being a bit upscale. I can't recommend Patria's enough, a bright spot in Salinas.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
I posted on the wrong business. Trying to post for a business/restaurant in San Francisco. Patria, I am sure y'all are great!

Edward D.

Yelp
The lasagna was watery more like soup The service was sub par, the menu was minimal. The coffee dessert and appetizer were the only nice thing I can say
google avatar

Yelp
WE are visiting Salinas this weekend and looked on Yelp for a good downtown restaurant to visit. The food was as wonderful as described. I had the special of the night, Maui Maui and it was excellent! Tender, with a delicious, lemony butter sauce, the tenderest scalloped potatoes and asparagus. My husband had the the Jaeger Schnitzel and loved it. The pork chop was tender with no gristle. The waiter was fast and competent and the atmosphere was pleasant. We were there for an early Friday night dinner and left around 7:30. By then it ws getting just a little too loud. A roomful of happy people can do that!
google avatar

Yelp
Good drinks . Good food. Nice place for a quiet dinner. Love the decor ;) Prices are fair .

Yelp
Delicious! I enjoyed every moment. I came with a group of friend that are from out of town & everything worked out. Will come back again.

Yelp
Such a great place! We're kinda poor so we don't go often--usually on our anniversary. But they never fail to give us amazing food and service. I heard a rumor that it is going out of business. I hope not.

Sharon H.

Yelp
Poor customer service. Poor food quality. Waiter's are rude and so entitled. Not sure how they stay in business?
google avatar

Yelp
Our visit to Patria was a nice indoor dining experience. The server, Ubaldo, was attentive, polite, and helpful. We had Fried Calamari, 2 Hand-Crafted Pizzas (Sausage Pizza & Margherita), Paccheri, and Mushroom Risotto with Ratatouille. They use fresh ingredients you can taste. The Pacherri was supposed to have a spicy marinara sauce, but it wasn't spicy at all. The portions they serve will leave you no room for dessert. The restaurant was decorated with artwork for sale and old world Italian decor. Very nice. Outdoor seating is an option, but dining-in is more pleasant.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolute favorite restaurant in Salinas & love the owners!! Love the ambience & the food is always amazing! Thank you for taking such great care of everyone in the community!!

Yelp
In Salinas for golf tournament. Went to dinner at Patria with family. Been here before. Had calamari to start. Salads. All five of us enjoyed our dinners, scallops, pizza, fish special, salmon and jeager schnitzel. Then finished with crème brûlée and chocolate mousse. Good food good drinks and lots of laughs. Would recommend.

Yelp
The service is excellent, the food is tasty and well presented, their salads are delicious,a must when looking for fine dining

Yelp
MENU AND FOOD: Patria serves a selection of Italian dishes such as pasta, pizza, and meats such as veal and rabbit! SERVICE AND ATMOSPHERE: Service is friendly, professional and attentive. Their indoor decor is appropriate and appealing. They have plenty of indoor seating. PARKING: Located near downtown Salinas, they only have street parking. IMPRESSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS: On a weekend trip to Monterey, our three families had a great time here. We had a variety of dishes and wine, all of which were tasty! I had the veal, which was delicious. Their food is well prepared and plated. Our waitress made great recommendations and conversation and even offered to take photo of our large party. We will be returning!

Yelp
Looking for a new Italian place in Salinas and this one popped up on Yelp. The reviews were good and the menu had what we wanted (except for Tiramisu). We ordered take-away and when I arrived at around 6 on a Saturday night the place was pretty empty. The vibe is pretty bougie, the bar nice, and the staff friendly and efficient. I ordered a pizza and my wife ordered the Goulash with Spaetzel. I wasn't expecting a NY style pie so I wasn't disappointed. The crust was nice and thin, the sauce was good, there was a good cheese to crust ratio, my only complaint was the skimpyness of the toppings that I ordered; the sausage and Black Forest Ham hardly made an appearance at all. The Goulash was great, big chunks of meat, a savory sauce, served over a thick noodle style Spaetzel that was equally delicious. The desserts were just as good. The Strudel was flakey and served with an unsweetened cream and a sugary glacé which, when mixed together, made a wonderful creamy compliment. The Mousse was just plain decadent. Overall, a delicious meal and a new regular on our restaurant rotation.

Nushka P.

Yelp
We chose to host the company Christmas party at Patria this year for the first time. Our group was seated in the "Clock Room" which was intimate and attractive. Perfect for the group and everyone loved it! So many choices were presented on the menu and everyone was thrilled with what they ordered. Delicious, fresh and served quite quickly for the 12 of us. Our waitress was very gracious and kind, a real plus in today's world. We would definitely return, again, and highly recommend this gem in Salinas!

Yelp
Excellent food & service!!! Wonderful staff & owners!!!!! Excellent food, great presentation as well!!! Always a go to place to eat out in Salinas!!!!! Enjoy!

Yelp
Amazing meal here y to tonight. My wife and I enjoyed one of the finest meals we have ever had. I had the special which was a great long cod dish with an amazing sauce and scalloped potatoes and thinly sliced roasted vegetables. My wife enjoyed the carrot ginger soup and butternut squash ravioli This restaurant is not only the best of Salinas but also the best in Monterey county.

Karl Z.

Yelp
Great Alsaecean cuisine-a blend of German and French influences-in an intimate setting. Paolo is an excellent and attentive host. Great atmosphere for chilly winter evenings. Only regret-they're not open for lunch anymore!!

Yelp
I love this place, and the landlord's restaurant was a great chef. Delicious food and great quality of nutrition,
